I have been going to Sugarfire O'Fallon for several years now and the food has been awesome every time. I have brought numerous family members, co-workers and friends to share with them possibly the best BBQ in St Louis. BBQ is an art not a science and I had one experience out of the years I've been going to sugarfire where I received brisket that was good but dry. The general customer service, restaurant decor, and seating are all a bit lacking, and the scattered menu and ordering process is kind of tough to navigate at first. I recommend ordering to-go by phone and picking it up curbside. The food is pretty good in general, and seems to be consistently pretty good. There are a couple of items that are consistently great though, including the smoked/fried chicken thigh sandwich, and the seemingly rare occasion that they make the bacon wrapped pork belly. read more

1,000+ stars!!! I had been wanting to try this place for sometime and finally made an unplanned stop a few weeks ago. Not being much of a BBQ person myself, I planned to order Turkey and enjoy the sides. As soon as I walked in the gentlemen behind the food line pulled out some fresh brisket. He immediately offered me a taste test and I was sold. He also offered me a sample of the turkey and made some suggestions for sides. The whole assembly line was friendly and fast. While enjoying our meal two employees walked over to check on our enjoyment and if we needed anything. Right before we were ready to leave the manager walked over and asked about our experience and food. He made great conversation and made sure to invite us to come back. If the food hadn't been good, the experience in general would have made up for it. Luckily, the food was just as satisfying. Okay you guys have got to stop this. Your food is so good that if I find one more thing that becomes an addiction I will not be able to handle it LOL. I tried the chocolate chip cake oh my God delicious. But the smoked chocolate chip cookie is out of this world. It's the only restaurant I've ever been to where I can order a turkey sandwich and not require, condiments because it's so moist. I had to drive across from WA to FL in my Penske truck recently, and my BBQ fix here was easily the highlight of my journey across our great country. I ordered a full slab of ribs for my father in law and a combo player of Brisket and pulled pork for myself. I think the pork ribs Pops let me try was probably the best ones I enjoyed outside of Memphis. Went here last night based on rating and review while I was in town on business from Central Texas. The menu "read" well with some very inventive sandwiches. I ended up getting the combo plate. Brisket and pulled pork. While the pulled pork was just ok, the brisket was horrible. Dry, cold, no bark, bland, nothing. For those that have reviewed saying how good the brisket is have not had good brisket. Their sauces were good, but the meat should stand on its own. Without sauce their BBQ falls way short. I visited here for the first time thanks to my husband. I had the chicken biscuit sandwich. Which is a smoked fried chicken breast covered in buffalo sauce , inside a biscuit which is covered in honey butter. I very much enjoyed the biscuit it was crunchy and soft and buttery. I was worried the chicken might be too spicy cause I'm a wuss but it was just right. I also had the apple pie which was AHMAZING and my husband has the pecan pie which was super good. I have had BBQ several places in STL, and this place was one of the best! We had the brisket, pulled pork, and sausage. All were good, but my favorites were the sausage and the pulled pork. The sides were also great- the french fries there remind me of boardwalk-style french fries but thinner (the best kind of fry). We will definitely come back! I have been here several times now and am ready to brand this place as a 2 star bbq place. The bbq meats here are more towards the blah side than great tasting smoked bbq. The side dishes have really taken a dip in quality, variety and creativity. Its just a bunch of cheap salads now. The remaining sauces they carry are ok, but who goes to a bbq place for the sauce. And then there's the cafeteria line experience. I have yet to make it all the way thru without some hicup at the meat, sides or cashier stations. Every single time. The layout of the restaurant also gets points off, you can't read the menu from the ordering line.
