Excellent quantity (kebab, rice, a few veggies, hummus, & salad) for the price. My only complaint is that I was working when the food was delivered without my knowing it for 15 minutes because there was no knock or notification. I started to get concerned and checked online which showed my "order was completed" 15 minutes earlier. I guessed that meant it was delivered so I checked and found the food on my doorstep lukewarm by that point. Next time I'll pay close attention online even if I'm working. read more

Always delicious at all locations! I have been going to Sultan's in Pleasanton for probably the last 10 years since my office was nearby. Our entire development team would eat there at least twice a week! The owners are super nice and the food is so flavorful!! So excited to see this location open! As a regular at their Pleasanton location, this one is in the middle of downtown Livermore, and has really great outdoor seating alongside a very well-maintained bar inside. They offer all the regular menu items, but also boasts some extra items like pide (a flatbread pizza that I haven't seen somewhere in a long time!), more dessert offerings, and a display case of candies. They were relatively empty on a weekday afternoon, but the service was still very friendly and helpful. Food came out quickly and was delicious! Husband and I got the pide to split, and a slice of pistachio cake (also very good). Highly recommend the pide, and will be back to try more flavors soon! If you haven't been to Sultan Kabob yet, definitely give it a try - it's a local favorite for me. read more

So first time at this place which used to be Backyard Bayou.....was sad to see that close but very happy with the replacement!! You order as you come in off a menu board which doesn't begin to do justice to the actual food!! I ordered the chicken wing skewers and my wife ordered the Kofte skewers (ground beef and lamb) and we shared....WOW!! Both meals came with a very nice salad, a mound of white rice, a small dish of hummus, 2 slices of hot naan bread and a very healthy amount of meat!! Stopped in by chance and wow, what amazing craft, truly handmade cocktails we had. A French 75 with Empress Gin, an Espresso Martini made with Turkish coffee-sooo smooth, and a wonderful Old Fashioned. With a HUGE menu, there is something for everyone at Sultan's. Different seasoned meats, their version of "pizza", vegetarian options....you can't go wrong! The food is fresh and filling. It doesn't weigh you down with grease and the flavors are new to a place like downtown Livermore. However Sultan's is not new in the restauraunt industry as they have multiple locations, Livermore is just their newest. Beyond the great food, the staff is always very welcoming and happy to chat about their menu items, as much of it I had no idea about before. They also have a full bar. Totally unacceptable me and my husband went there to eat and we ordered one flat bread and one order of French fries. The employee who makes the flat bread was cleaning the table in counter of him using soap and no gloves on. He then without washing his hands grabbed the dough and started to make our food. This is a food safety violation and should be addressed accordingly. The owners don't care as long as they make money but if someone dies or gets very sick then it's a major problem. On another day while sitting down waiting for our food to be served to us another employee keeps touching his nose without a napkin and I can clearly see fluid coming from his nose and then he cleans it on his clothes and grabs the food to bring it to our table then another day as we are inside and eating our food one idiot employees starts to mop the floors using some very heavy smelling chemical and we can smell it as if it was in front of our face. I will report this to the Health department. read more

I was excited to try this Turkish hookah spot, expecting delicious food and a chill atmosphere. We called ahead and were told hookah service starts after 8:30, so we arrived right on time. However, when we ordered, no one mentioned that hookah wouldn't be served until 9. After a long wait, I asked about our hookah and was met with a curt response. A man named Ronaldo simply said, "We cannot serve until 9," and even asked, "You want a refund?" Meanwhile, Ronaldo--the manager--served another table with that arrived later with another hookah, all while acting unprofessionally. I seriously question the management here--if I were the owner, I'd definitely have someone with better customer service to manage. read more

This place is very good. It is impressive in its decor and addition of a full bar. All the fixtures and displays were clean and full, most appealing. The staff were pleasant and attentive. It was early on a Tuesday and not busy when we arrived so that would be expected. I was in the bizz for several years, so I am wary of "I have always wanted to have my own restaurant...it's EASY" places. I hadn't any idea what I'd discover here, but this is no Mom 'n' Pop deal, running on a shoestring. I liked the logos projected down onto the floor. Fun! The food was...good. I wasn't blown away by any means. It seemed to lack bright flavors. We just had a similar dinner in Alameda that had more interesting seasoning. But the portions were generous and the (draft) beer was nice and cold. The ambiance on the patio was lovely. With the subtle drapery and surrounding trees it seems you are peacefully detached from the outside world. It must be very nice after dark. I think the Sultan has positioned themselves well for after-theater business. Not only by location, but by their late closing hours and full bar. My only significant objection was the total darkness upon entering from First Street. While my (weak) eyes adjusted, I made out a host podium which was unstaffed. There's no indication that service is fast-casual rather that table service. Then the order station magically appears in the distance. The entire inside dining area is very dark. Yes, I am older than dirt but really? This is a well-run business that adds to Our Wonderful Downtown. But I think we're at the limit on Mediterranean restaurants. So, where's this Olive Garden already? read more

My brother said this place is 100x better than Nick The Greek, so I had to come and try it. I ordered a wrap online at around 12:23pm, so peak busy time for a weekday lunch. Online ordering: very easy The system is quick and easy to use. No fluff, no login required, just pick your items and order. I received a text to confirm my order within 5 seconds of clicking the order button. It gave me an estimate of 30 minutes, which makes sense for taking an online order during the lunch rush. Location: beautiful, convenient Very nice spot in downtown Livermore. I walked there from home on a beautiful sunny day. It's easy to find with clear, attractive signage. The inside... I would never expect a place called "Sultan's Kebab" to look like this inside. It feels like an upscale bar on the inside with neon lights and shiny black surfaces. Looks very clean and nice. They also have a beautiful outdoor seating area. I'd be curious to see this place on a warm Friday night, as it looks to have some potential as a social hub. Service: on par My interaction was just a few words, so can't say much, but the order was ready on time and handed over with a smile. Food: not bad, a little lacking in flavor I ordered the Adana Wrap, which comes with a side salad. The wrap was pretty good. Not great. The description says "charbroiled spicy lamb", but it wasn't spicy, not even a little, and didn't have much of a charbroiled flavor either. The portion size was good. The wrap is long and narrow, with a decent amount of meat in it. I'm a small guy, I could probably eat half for lunch and half for dinner, and I'd be ok with that. It came with a side salad, chunks of romaine lettuce with little bits of tomato and pickled veggies, some seasoning and olive oil. Everything tasted fresh, and it complemented the wrap nicely. Price: fair For what you get, I'd say it's fair. I paid $15.49 after tax for the wrap and side salad. Comparable in price to other places nearby. Overall: 3.5 stars based on the food, rounding up to 4 for a good experience I'm not that impressed with my first taste. The restaurant's in a really nice spot, I'll give it that. I'll have to come back and check out the bar. Is it better than Nick the Greek? I'd say no. The flavor just isn't there on the meat. Spicy lamb should be spicy. Charbroiled meat should have a charred taste and smell, and in my case it didn't. But they did get a lot of things right, so I'd say it's worth another try. read more

Very tasty food. I went with two other people we has chicken, shrimp and ground beef kababs. All delicious. The plates came with smooth and creamy hummus, a very tasty rice, and delicious salads. There was a water station on the patio where you can get a glass of water and/or ice. Friendly staff. Bathrooms were very clean and smelled nice. The outside patio is very nice and even those it was a breezy day the tables were protected from the wind with barriers, very pleasant. We will definitely be back. The only downside: uncomfortable looking metal chairs. But no problem- the patio had cushioned bench seating that was very comfortable so try that. read more
