We have had graduations, birthdays, anniversaries dinner here, small parties and larger parties and Sumo Sushi, hands down, has been the best! We have tried many local sushi spots and Sumo Sushi is our favorite. We appreciate the all-you-can-eat and love how fresh their fish is, their rolls are delicious and their appetizers are enticing! Our favorite Sushi rolls are the salmon delight and salmon ceviche. Our regular appetizers are the spicy garlic edamame, baked mussels and we some times do miso as well. Their service has always been friendly and attentive, making our experience enjoyable. The atmosphere is clean, open and has a fun vibe with tasteful music. I came here with my dad when he came down to visit Riverside but the sushi here wasn't as good as the other AYCE sushi restaurants in the area. - The service was VERY friendly and accommodating - The restaurant is very clean - All of the fish were cut a lot smaller than other restaurants like Hons, Taiyos, or Show Sushi. - Some of the salmon we ate had a little chewy piece which may mean that it wasn't fileted well. - The Octopus nigiri was too chewy - The rice of the nigiri was inconsistent. A lot kept breaking and the rice itself wasn't cooked as well as it's competitors. It was lacking in rice vinegar, just tasted like plain white rice. - The Takoyaki was too pasty. It lacked enough sauce and would have been better with some katsuobushi sprinkled on top. All in all, I loved the service, but the food was lacking. Although they are no longer all you can eat, I still enjoy the sushi rolls offered here. The BF and I walked in around 12pm for lunch and there was only 2 people inside eating. The staff are wearing their masks inside, which I appreciate. We ordered the usual rolls that we would normally get. Though they are offered at a cheaper price per roll. It does add up. When they were all you can eat on the weekends, it would be about $50 plus tip. Our bill for lunch was about $75 plus tip. We had about 6 rolls between the two of us and it was more than enough but yeah it was more expensive. I'll still give them my support in the future. I have had 2 allergic reactions on 2 different visits (and no I am not allergic to shellfish or any of the seafood for that matter). We also specifically mention my food allergy when ordering.
