It is hard to rate a place that you never actually got to do business with, but I'll give it a try. I needed an oil change and state inspection on my 2004 Nissan X-Terra. Thought I would try Sun Auto Service out, because they are slightly closer to my house and right next to Home Depot, so I thought I could shop while I waited. I pulled up to the front of the garage doors where an attendant usually will come out and ask you what you need. No one came out. I sat a few seconds and looked through the garage. I saw several cars, but no employees. Then I got out of my car and started to go inside. I found 5 men sitting in the first garage bay. I asked the one that stood up when he saw me if they did State Inspections. They did, however the inspector was out and wouldn't be back for 45 minutes. I can live with that. He was probably gone to a late (2:00pm) lunch. I told them that's fine. I also need an oil change. Maybe they could do that while I waited. The man asked if I had an appointment. ??? Really!? No. Who calls ahead for an oil change appointment? So, I tried to do business with them, but I don't think they really wanted me there. I got in my car and drove 5 minutes to where I usually go and should have gone, Jiffy Lube on Williams Dr. They were busy (but these guys were actually working). I was offered water or coffee when I walked in and was in and out in 30 minutes. Oil change and State Inspection done! read more

He used to work at another auto repair shop when I discovered him and I've stuck by him ever since. Now he's at SUN AUTO SERVICE and I know he'll bring his A-game to this service facility. I've already had an oil change (the starter drug of car service) and I couldn't have done it less expensive if I had bought the supplies myself. They also checked a zillion things I never think about like topping off fluids and checking all systems to make sure my ride is in tip-top shape. My wife has a new vehicle with all of the toys and I have an oldie but-a-goodie and it's great to know we can go to one place for ALL of our repair and service needs. I am a single mother....and I am saying this because I didn't have a husband coming in with me and maybe I seemed extra gullible. Regardless it was no excuse for the bad experience I had at this Sun Auto location. My car had a broken sway bar and one bad strut and they gave me an estimate to replace my whole Rack and pinion set up at a price of over $3,000. All the while playing up how honest they are, how they will throw in a free oil change, etc.... I had looked up the price of a strut at GMC before I went in, so I also realized they were upcharging on parts almost 150%. When I brought this up to them they insisted that they didn't come up with the prices for parts it was automatically generated. I am so glad I got a second opinion!! There was nothing wrong with my rack and pinion and the place I ended up going to (Georgetown Muffler) charged SOOO much less than what this place was going to charge me. I called the guy who works here, Chance, and told him how disappointed I was that they would try to get me to repair something that wasn't even broken. They absolutely screwed me over I went in a few weeks ago to have my oil changed and do a diagnostic test they came back with a $860 estimate for the manifold and so I scheduled it for the following week, dropped my truck off the night before then they decided to tell me it was going to be $2700 for the manifold. Bullshit they just want to screw over a single mom barely making it. I am coming back with a lawsuit as we speak. I don't handle men trying to screw over single moms or elderly people as I have heard them talk shit about Sun City people where actually my kids grandparents live. read more

I had an appointment for an oil change at 12 PM and they did not even start moving the car until 1:30 PM. We waited an hour and a half just to even have them start on the car. An oil change should never take this long and it's ridiculous how even with an appointment it's as if the business forgot about us for so long. Normally, we only review restaurants here on Yelp. Today is a little different, though, because we had an exceptional experience with the Nibblermobile today that really ought to be shared. Last night, we went to Nibble a new pizza place that we hadn't nibbled before. When we were leaving, however, the Nibblermobile decided that she really didn't want to keep running. We managed to get a ride for the rest of the night and left the car parked in Georgetown until the next day. Today, when we went to check on it, it started up just fine and ran like a change until we could get to a shop that I had faith in. I'd never been to the Georgetown Sun Auto, but am a regular customer at the one in Cedar Park...so we took the car to the closer Georgetown location. When I explained the problem we were having to Dwayne, the first thing that occurred to me was that he was actually listening rather than treating me like I know nothing about cars merely because I'm female. He was concerned about them not being able to find the problem, as had happened with another customer recently with a similar problem. Turns out my car wanted to be fixed too, because when they went out to take a look at it, the same problem from the night before repeated for the mechanics. They quickly diagnosed it and even verified something the Cedar Park location cautioned me on was not, in fact, a problem. The repairs were completed quickly and for much less than I had feared it would cost me. They even fixed something that wasn't fixed properly at the Sun Auto in Cedar Park before I left. These guys are great. If you had a bad experience there before the new management took over, you should definitely give them another shot. You won't regret it! read more

Expensive and NOT worth it. Had several experiences with then. Mazda3: they replaced brake rotors with cheap ones that immediately rusted and looked like crap. Toyota 4Runner: had a shimmy while stopping. They said I needed my struts replaced, which they did for about $800. Still shimmied. Took it to another place which replaced my brake rotors for about $150. That solved the problem. Recently took it in for a starter issue and they replaced both catalytic converters for $1500. Obviously that wasn't the starter issue. At best, they poorly diagnose auto issues. At worst, they knowingly perform unnecessary and expensive repairs in order to pad your bill. I won't return. Keep looking. There are much better shops. read more

These people have a severe ineptness for communicating information! I will never return! I do not recommend their services! Pay more for someone else do give you better customer service! I came here on a Saturday morning in November. I do not remember the name of the clerk that checked me in. It was not MIchael. I called in advance and was told that they had a wait of about 2.5 hours for an oil change. Having things to do, I decided to drop my car off and give them the time that they needed. I checked on my vehicle after 1.5 hours and they still had not begun work. 20 minutes later however, they called me and reported being nearly complete. So, I made my way over there. 15 minutes later I arrived and waited for 10 more minutes. I was not acknowledged when I returned, except in the third person. Finally, after overhearing reports from service members that they didn't have the right filter for my car, I approached the desk. At that point, the desk clerk admitted to my car actually not being ready and lacking a part. He said that a van with the correct part was on its way. So, I told him that I would be back in 20 minutes. 35 minutes later I returned and he told me that the van brought back the wrong part. I asked how much longer and he said 90 minutes! He didn't bother to call me while I was away to tell me that it would be longer. Rather, he simply waited until I made the effort to come all of the way back to break the bad news. So, I called my wife and she picked me up. As we were walking into the house, 25 minutes later, they called to say that the car was ready! I cannot believe that they were so bad at communicating honestly with me! How hard is it to tell me while I am sitting there that my car is actually not ready for pick up and that it will be a while longer?! And, if the wrong part arrived, why can't you call me and tell me so before I make the effort to come back!? Finally, why did you so incorrectly misquote your time?! It took 3.5 hours from start to finish and they didn't volunteer much useful information. It wasted my morning that I could have otherwise used for a lot of other more valuable errands. I will never return! The service was so bad, I hope that you learn, too, that your money is better spent elsewhere! read more

I would NEVER take my car back to Sun Auto in Georgetown TX. I was having engine issues and Sun Auto happens to be the closest repair shop. So I figured I give them a shot. The counter person told me the engine was in stock and I would have my car by Mon or Tuesday the latest, keep in mind that it was Thursday at the time. So Tuesday came and they told me the engine never came/ had issues with the delivery person wanting to pick up the engine. So they told me that they will have the engine by Wednesday or Thursday, so when Thursday came the "supposedly" engine came in but was damaged. So they will need to order another one and it should come in by the following Mon/Tuesday and they expedited it. That day came still no engine. At that point, I was very frustrated with the BS so I negotiated with Manager to provide me a rental car because it was on the 2nd week regarding my car's engine at that point-with my pregnant wife at home with no vehicle. So when the cheapest thing I could get was $65 rental car per day plus you had to pay for the insurance. Well, that sort of ease the problem being without two cars for so long but when the car was finally ready the following Tuesday or Wednesday. The Manager was only going to pay up to $45 a day on the rental. So I had to come out of my pocket for what the shop couldn't cover. In addition to the big hurdle of getting my car back with another engine put in it, it seems like the only person that deals with my car was always out and I had to keep playing phone tag with them. I would not suggest them nor would I return. Unless if its to repair the engine that they put in. read more

They do solid, thorough work with a quick turnaround. They're friendly, informative, and always very clear about what's going on with your vehicle. We have a Ford F-150 and an Audi A3 -- they work on both, and it's always great! We've mostly needed just scheduled maintenance, but the Audi needed a repair recently, and they had it in & out in a day AND it didn't cost an arm and a leg. I use Sun Auto for everything I need for my cars. When I get consistently good service I tell people all about it- so I apologize but this is going to be long... At Sun Auto- Oil Changes are reasonably priced and include a thorough check of all the systems, and I have never had them recommend a service other than an occasional air filter. I have used them to check out used cars- before I buy them. They saved me from a LEMON BMW that the Leif Johnson Ford team tried to sell my daughter as having had a "100% bumper to bumper" check. I took the car to Sun, and they found several major issues which would have ended up costing $2,400 to repair (major turbo system leak and a bad radiator). Travis documented what he found and called the service company to explain the issues which allowed me to get out of buying the car. He then took the time to tell me the types of cars they see most for repairs and said to avoid them. Then- after asking me what we wanted in a car then recommended a Lexus or a Toyota for the lowest maintenance cost. A repair shop who recommends cars that are reliable is my kind of place. So, we found another car for a pre-purchase inspection which they said was in excellent shape and made a recommend to buy - which we did. Tonight, I called him because that same car had been involved in a minor fender bender and had some warning and check engine lights on- he said to bring it in and they would test it for free and see what they could find. It was very busy in the shop, but they worked me in and found out a yaw sensor needed calibrating- which they did and then road tested the car. When they checked me out it was no charge and now we are back to all green lights on the dash. Marcus is awesome as well- so are all the techs who have worked on our three cars. In summary- if you want fair prices, attention to detail and excellent service this is a great place to take your car! read more

I took my car here to have the oil changed and tires rotated. After I got my car back, I noticed a whirring sound coming from the front tire. I brought the car back and asked them to take a look. They rotated the tires back and they inspected the car. They came back and said I needed a new wheel hub and bearing. Total cost $600+. That seemed high so I brought by car to another mechanic to get a quote and double check that the bearing was the issue. Well, they informed that all bearings are fine on the car and the noise is probably coming from the back tires because there is some cupping (back tires were on the front when all this started and Sun Auto rotated them back). Also, the quote from the other place was $150 cheaper. Never going back here. read more

But after I made the appointment my husband put break fluid in my car and called it a day. I am sorry to see some of these negative reviews. I enjoy bringing my vehicles to this Sun Auto in Georgetown, TX. They always provide good service and recommendations for service. The team is polite, friendly, and professional. MiKe, Marcus, Duane, and Anthony will always answer the phone, be available, be responsive, and treat you right. They usually have the best service prices and service times and by far beat any dealerships price. They are busy and have a lot of walk ins for oil changes and state inspections. So I recommend calling ahead if you plan to hit and run, or call ahead a day prior and make a service appointment and wait in waiting area or drop off vehicle for at least 90 minutes to 2 hrs depending on your required service. They offer shuttle service as well. I came in with an appointment at 0900 on a Saturday for major 105,000mi service including alignment, oul change, all fluids flush and waited 3 hrs which was appropriate. I came in another time on a Monday at 1pm for a state imspection and was in and out in 25 minutes. I always get great friendly service and military discount. I went to Sun Auto in Cedar Park, TX for them to recheck their work on my Valve cover they replaced due to the fact my car was still leaking a bit. They were gracious about it and after checking, they told me it is in another area of my car. Which I understood because I have an older car. He told me he would call me in a few days to get me an estimate after the parts they needed came in and he did. I asked him if he could email me the estimate and he agreed. But I did not so I waited a week before calling back and I was told their email system is down, but I could come by to pick it up. When I did I was told by the same guy that they do not print out estimates anymore due to the fluctuation of prices, but would give the final price which I wrote down on scrap paper. I was flabbergasted and thought is it why it is called an estimate? I left the shop and will never return. How can I trust the shop if I can't get a written estimate? read more

A buyer of our vehicle chose Sun Auto to have the vehicle inspected before purchase. The man is older and disabled and his daughter was going to drive in from Austin to take the car to the dealership. Since I was nearby it seemed easier for me to drop off the car for them, as long as the repair shop coyld shuttle me the 3 miles back to my car. We called and they said "No problem, come on up.". I arrived around just before 11:30 and checked in with Jordan. I was told that the shuttle driver was out and would not be able to take me for an hour, unless he got back sooner. I was a bit frustrated that we'd called before coming and had not been told an hour, but I agreed to wait at a nearby store and asked them to call me when the shuttle driver arrived. An hour later with no call, I called them. Jordan answered and said that the shuttle driver was there but wouldn't be able to take me because he had state inspection to do. When I explained that I'd been waiting an hour for him to call he said, well he's the only one to do inspections, so he has to do those. I asked how long, he said probable another 30 minutes. I asked why, then did he tell me they could take me in an hour when I first arrive, he very apathetically said, Well, I guess I should have told you. Whatever mistake they made in coordinating their shuttle driver and leaving me waiting for extended times with a small child was frustrating. But the very rude attitude from the employee and the complete lack of customer service was the biggest issue. I asked if a manager was there, he said yes, to which I was left on hold for over 10 minutes. By that time I had walked back into the shop. I asked for the manager in person and Jordan said he was out to lunch. Then he said, the shuttle driver could take me now. Seriously? If he's able to take me then why be so rude about insisting that I need to wait 30 more minutes, just 10 minutes before? 30 seconds later, the manager walked in from the shop. So he wasn't out to lunch. I don't know if Jordan just hoped that I would leave before speaking with the manager. Now that I've explained the situation to the manager who then explained to me how busy they are and that they don't usually provide a shuttle for $45 services (But they seemed to have no issue when we called ahead), and who gave a very non commital apology, after I explained that there were many bad reviews on their yelp and several named this same employee, we shall see how they "inspect" the car. My review will be updated after that. I will say Mark the shuttle driver (and apparantly the only guy there certified to provide inspections) was very polite, he addressed the situation and talked about how that isn't the experience they want customers to have. My husband went into Sun Auto today. It was his second time getting our oil change there. The first time I went in they gave my car a thorough inspection and this time he mentioned to them my AC was making weird noises. Apart from doing the oil change, they looked into my AC issue and fixed the belts for free and also fixed my squeaky breaks without our mentioning it. My husband knows a lot about cars and can be picky about auto service, but he was very impressed by the service at Sun Auto and urged me to write this review.
