Sun Auto rocks! I haven't been able to find a great trustworthy mechanic since I left my hometown 2 years ago. Fortunately my truck does not require much maintenance other than basic oil changes etc. I tried a couple of local chains, they all attempted to push unnecessary work on me, claimed it was necessary. I finally found Sun Auto, as my boyfriend uses them. Brought my truck in for an oil change, they were super honest and told me what I already knew, my vehicle is solid and only needs a couple of minimal things other than the oil change. They changed my oil and gave me an estimate for the belt that needed to be replaced and 1 other small issue (I drive a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer that has close to 80,000 miles and has only ever needed basic maintenance). I paid a fair price for my synthetic oil and was on my way. I decided to get a couple of second opinions around town on the 2 small issues, needless to say Sun Auto's estimates were much lower than the other shops I checked out, which by the way, attempted to tack on more unnecessary work (they shall remain nameless). I then made the decision to have the issues taken care of. I dropped my truck off before work and had it back by lunch time. Everything was done, my truck runs great and I cannot wait to hear "Hey, do you know a good mechanic?" Sun Auto is fair, trustworthy, efficient and clean, the staff is knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. So good in fact, that I recommended my mother see them instead of the dealership for oil changes. I reiterate, SUN AUTO ROCKS!!!!! read more

If your looking to give money away, this is the place for you. I came in to get a price on replacing my shocks for my 2006 Yukon. The guy gave an academy performance, brought me into the garage, "put your finger here, you can feel the disconnect" and "see this connection, it means you have electronic, self leveling shocks and that is high performance" and continued to point at the engine with his flashlight. We went to the cash register and he pulled up the parts, labor, etc and quoted me a rate of $2,300. I told him that the dealership quoted me $1,200. He got on the phone, talked to another guy.....meanwhile I was checking Yelp to see his reviews and it is full of rip-off stories that had my wife and I cracking up. After his call the quote magically came down to what the dealer offered, roughly 1/2 their original price. What a joke, thank you friends of Yelp!! We happily went back to Desert Buick GMC where thy took great and honest care of us, not a penny over their quote. read more

Ive been coming to this location for the past 3 years for oil changes as they have great service and prices are within range. If there is something that will need to be fixed soon, they will bring it your attention and do not pressure to fix now, but gives you the heads up. I had made an appointment for them to find the leak in my AC system. Appointment time was 10AM, yet the car was not pulled into a bay until close to 11. They did find the leak, and we were out of there at 1:30. I must say Deven is extremely patient and polite to all persons and callers I had observed while there for 3 1/2 hours. We decided to let them fix the leak even though my husband could have done the job himself, except for the fact when adding the freon, you need to really have the right measuring tools as not to over charge the system. While checking for the leak, and the time it was there, there was no charge for the diagnosis. I know dealers don't do s--t for no charge. As the hose that had the pinhole in it was not in stock, we decided to bring the car back in on Thursday at 8:30 for the repair which was $400.00. When my husband got there, that is when they ordered the part. I personally thought the part should have been there. After the fact I suggested to Deven that if there was hesitation that a customer might not come back, in order to expedite waiting time, ask the customer to pre-pay for the part. So, my husband had to go to DMV to turn in the plates from our totaled vehicle. Deven had a worker there drop my husband off at DMV in our car, about a 5 minute ride. When my husband was done at DMV he ordered a Lyft back to Sun. To his surprise, the part was there, but car was still outside. Because of the waiting time, despite appointments for both times our car was there, that is why I give them 4 stars, rather than 5. But for politeness, I can say they are worlds ahead of anywhere else I have ever had a car serviced. (Luckily my husband does all our repairs, and on the vehicle that went here, he replaced the compressor, condensor, recharged system, put flourescent die in to looks for leak, but just couldn't find it.) I would without hesitation recommend Sun. I understand that Sun is a family business that started in Arizona and all locations are wholelly owned by the family. read more

Love this place! The workers are super friendly and are super helpful. The pricing is decent the Labor is the most expensive but it's just like any other mechanic but the diagnostic is free so you don't have to pay for anything unless your ready. read more

I went in for an oil change and dealt with Shawn (the shop manager). He was very friendly, polite, and professional. He was especially helpful. He never mislead me or tried to upsell me on any service or labor. He was honest and took care of everything in a timely manner. The service was exceptional. I thought these Guys were alright so I made a return visit, but was very disappointed when I returned....first problem...I dropped off my vehicle early morning, left keys in dropbox...made it very clear that I left my wheel lock key right in cup holder (was very hard to miss!) , the mechanic just went through all my storage spots and left very greasy prints all over, including all over my cloth seats...claimed he was looking for locks, but if he took a moment to read the work order, he would've seen it written in large print! But, the real problem was when they called me to inform me my steering box was leaking and needed to be replaced for $1325.00...offered to show me when I returned, but when I returned, they said "we cleaned it...you won't really see it leaking", which is total B.S.! (My Toyota was always maintained by the dealership, meticulously cared for, and only had roughly 86,000 miles on it.) So, I drove it home, kept inspecting it, never saw any leakage, went to Toyota, had it inspected and was told there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with it! Just needed to replace the original fluid! Since then, I pulled a trailer through the Rockies, drove across country, never lost a drop in over 6 months! (Service was performed in Late April or early May) Thanks for trying to "Rip me off" Guys! And your prices are not that great! Desert Toyota would've gave a better deal for the damn Shocks! read more

We have brought our vehicle to this location just a few times. A simple oil change did go well despite the long wait. They quote you a time of 45 min-1hr and you end up being there for 2hours atleast even with an appointment. If you have a repair done here dont bother trying to follow up for the same issue. We had to replace our alternator recently and ever since we have experienced very poor customer service from the front desk. They give you the run-around about your repair questions or concerns.They are rude to say the least. The staff seems to never hear any of the noises under the hood that the we, the carowner, hear. You ask to go on the test drive with the employee and they deny you the opportunity. Or they say the mechanic is at lunch right now. It seem they take lunch break all day. Overall i will not bring either of my two cars to this shop again nor will i refer to any of my friends. read more

These guys have worked on my truck many times before. At the west Washington Ave location. The manager seems to be a straight up guy. My only complaint is it seems to be a lot of misdiagnosing going on. Its almost comical. The other day I was in for a engine light coming on. The man concluded it was a vacuum leak somewhere and they would have to do a "test" to find it. Cost around a 100 dollars for the test and 60 bucks for a new gas cap which they said was the problem. Pick up truck, I drive about 5 miles light comes back on. I take the truck back, now its another problem, Its a small hose. fixed it. hour later lights on. Again. What test?? Also on the same day. I tell them I have a oil leak. I told them where I thought the oil leak was coming from (Under the truck) and asked them to take a look. The guy comes back tells me its the valve covers. Their leaking down the back, just looks like its dripping from the bottom. Tells me how much money and I agree. Power wash the engine and fix Oil leak. The next day.. Oil is in my drive way. Their close so I take my truck somewhere else. The new guys walk me under my truck and what do i see. Oil coming from my front and back seals. Oil pan dripping with oil blow back under the truck. Its a mess. It's was also obvious that not much steam cleaning happened under the engine. The break down.. its a bad leak. They told me there wasn't a bottom engine leak. but they DID tell me about other problems underneath my truck and how much it was going to fix it. And they didn't see what i asked for? For 700 bucks I still have a bad oil leak and the the engine light is on. Also there this one guy at the counter. Didn't get the name but he needs people skills. Comes off rude to the customer. Will I return? Most likely. But watching more to what their doing to my truck for now on. read more

We have been taking our cars here for years, also have referred many friends and family to them. Well that won't happen anymore. My husband was out of town when my air conditioner fan went out. I did some research on the problem and found that the resistor was bad and possibly the fan its self. I could have bought the parts, the resister was about 30 dollars and if I needed the fan it was about 90.00. These prices were for AC Delco parts. As I stated my husband was out of town so I went over to Sun Auto on Tropicana to see if they could fix the problem. They check out the car then informed me that I needed a new fan, resister, and plug assembly at a price of 750.00, which I felt was way to high. I did some more research and bought the resister and when my husband got back he put it in, in about 30 minutes, and was very easy to do. Every thing works fine now with out having to replace the fan itself. I called Sun Auto and asked for an explanation of their pricing. 500 of it was for parts ( total ridiculous). And 250.00 for labor. read more

Do not go here! The y are crooks and rip you off. Went in for oil change/trans flush. Price was a little high but fair. Then they said they found a leak in my water pump. Told me with labor and parts it would be 500. I called Milford auto(which is currently fixing everything they messed up on my car) they came in at half the price and said I was being over charged for labor. Since when does a mechanic make $150 and hour to change a pump in 2 hours. So 300 for labor. I told them no, they said my car would be ready in 30 min, they called 2 hours later to come get it. When I left my car made a rattling noise, they said they couldn't find anything ( it wasn't making the noise before I went) later that night my car started randomly shutting off. These guys are horrible, unprofessional, I was giving my info to o e guy, while another guy I believe Rick was yelling at a customer on the phone and arguing to the point were I couldn't hear what my guy was asking me. They are a scum business. No one should use them. read more

The people in the office are very nice. The person who did the brake inspection was not professional. He seemed to be having fun chit chatting with a coworker. 45 minutes turned into an hour and 25 minutes. I understand 45 minutes turning into and hour, but an hour and 25 minutes, thats just ridiculousness. I scheduled my apt because i have to time out the day around my 10 month old son who i had to bring with me. I was not happy. The guy at the front desk sensed this because my son started screaming and i probably had a mug look on. He was kind and gave me a card for my next visit for oil changes, tire rotation and other items free of charge. While i do greatly appreciate it and it shows that they are willing to make better what they messed up, it should not have come to that. Once the car finally had the tires back on, they had my car blocked in and were in absolutely no rush to get me out of there. I actually had to step in and interject to get my car out. I'm pretty sure the man i had to interject was a manager. I almost rated them a 3 star. But i had one nice person that seemed on top of it all out of the three people i encountered. This got in the way of the rest of my day. I wont post the name of the person i will specifically ask to never touch my car ever again because i feel that is slander. But the guy that helped me out and was kind to me was Devin. I feel slightly bad about this poor rating, but holy cow, this company needs to get on top of their employees. read more
