I brought my car in last week as the brakes made noises when pedal was depressed. I left the car for a couple of hours and was finally told I needed new rotors and new pads. The total was $920 but they would give me a coupon and it would only cost $800. As my car is old, 2007, I said it was not worth it and left. The next day I took my car to Mr. Brake. He did a diagnostic and said rotors were fine, front pads were 45%, back pads 25%. The noise was a fluttering in the diaphragm and was told not to worry about it. Total cost $0! Obviously, I do not recommend anyone going to Sun Auto for anything as they are not very trustworthy. read more

I've learned that sometimes you have to read between the lines regarding particular types of businesses such as auto maintenance and repair. I made the right decision to come to Sun Auto on Tropicana and Fort Apache. The manager Sean, Carlos, and staff were super friendly, knowledgeable, and exceedingly fast with a major fix on my car. There was no thought of mistrust with these people as they detailed what was wrong. Long story short I had a leak they checked out my head gaskets and told me it was that. I never drove it after they looked at it. I moved to Seattle Washington had my car shipped let my personal mechanic take a look at it for a 2nd opinion and once he checked it out we saw that suns auto DID NOT SCREW BACK ON THE NUTS TO MY HEAD GASKET TIGHT! Just because I backed out on them fixing it for $3,000.00 they got upset and decided not to screw them back on 9lbs of torque my mechanic and I could literally unscrew the bolts with our fingers! Come on man....not even gonna waste my time to completely explain myself. Horrible people to do this to my car. This was my "go-to" shop for my Mercedes Benz and my 1985 Trans Am until they did this. Quoted me for the replacement of a clutch in a 1985 Trans Am. It was also the cheapest quote out of about 5 local shops. The original quote was for around $600 with a tow and labor (4 hours) supplying my own clutch and bearings. I receive a call yesterday saying that they cannot Remove the transmission because the car had supposedly been in an accident. I just had the engine and front end rebuilt down to the break booster in Palm Springs california before driving it 290+ miles to Vegas. The mechanic who rebuilt the engine said he never saw anything that would back up they're claim of it being in a front end collision and the transmission stuck because it's forced against the firewall. I asked for pictures of what they were talking about. Upon arrival, my car had been driven evidently in and out of the shop EVEN THOUGH I was recommended NOT to drive it, hence the $60 tow. The quote to proceed has an additional 4.5 hours at their rate of $140 per hour. Their pictures to back up the claim that they could not remove the transmission because it was pushed against the firewall were of the outside driver side fender, the hood(which was replaced temporarily with a dented one), the radiator housing and one little dent by the transmission on the firewall. I asked if I could have copies of the photos so I could post them here, Rick's response "this isn't a photo shop". When my mechanic gets here I will post pictures. Now I told them to put it back together that I have a mechanic already who will do it. They insisted I pay the current labor which was a whole 1 hour($140) along with the tow and "disposal fee". That being said, it only took them 1 hour if not less to take the car apart to the point of removing the transmission, even though they quoted 4 hours in labor. This shop is a con shop, they are professional con artists. Your car will probably be done hours before they say it is, they're just fulfilling they're quote. When it came down to pay, Rick just handed me my keys. Yup, he just handed me the keys and told me to take the car and leave literally right after telling me I had to pay $227.58 for the labor. Hint, hint, he knew it was complete bull crap. These guys are so full of crap their eyes are turning brown. SERIOUSLY DO NOT GO HERE!! SAVE YOUR MONEY THIS SHOP IS EXTREMELY OVERPRICED AND THE MECHANICS PREY ON PEOPLE WHO DO NOT KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IS WRONG WITH THEIR CAR! I know what is wrong with mine! I know literally everything that has has been done to it! I was lucky I wasn't tricked and avoided this expensive, excessive job. Btw the quote to finish it was $1200+. I HOPE THIS HELPS SOME OF YOU! Have multiple mechanics look at your vehicle if there is anything wrong with it. Find one you really trust and if there is a job that he/she cannot do or needs a shop, just have the mechanic come with you if possible to double check everything and call them out on their bs! **** UPDATE IMPORTANT MUST READ!! Upon inspection with my personal mechanic we discovered they left the transmission with NO FLUID! The transmission was full before I took it in. Also they left the drain plug loose so it leaked on the drive home (I beleive that was done purposely to damage my vehicle). The bracket for the transmission harness was also left off, not just 1 but 3. Both of us are shocked that they would do this. Will update when we remove transmission and see how much fluid is actually in it. The drive shaft is not even halfway in the transmission. Transmission support to the rear end is not even bolted on you can literally spin it with your hand. It seems like they purposely left bolts and parts loose and halfway out thinking that I would get mad and burn out or something and completely ruin my car and go right back to them or something i don't know. My mechanic and I are still trying to figure out why a "family owned" "professional" shop would do this. Things are just getting started too, we will see what else. The car wasn't even out completely back together, brackets for the harness were left unbolted. The support for the transmission to the rear end was left halfway unscrewed. To top it off they emptied my transmission fluid (for no reason) and left it low with the wrong fluid. The borg and Warner t5 calls for standard automatic dex fluid, there was gear grease in my transmission. **** transmission is out! We found what you guys we're talking about! The shifter was hitting the firewall... YOURE SUPPOSED TO TAKE THE SHIFTER OUT ... I can't beleive you call yourselves mechanics! Also the transmission fluid was so low by the time we pulled the drain plug it was bone dry. read more

I had scheduled to get my husbands car in for an oil service at the Cactus location and asked them to check out the A/C since it had stopped working. The A/C ended up needing to basically be replaced. They worked on it all day and the Manager and technician graciously stayed after hours to get it done so that my husband could get to work the next day. The Manager also gave us some generous discounts for the labor and parts since it took longer than what they had quoted us. These guys were kind, respectful, knowledgeable, and personable when communicating with us in person and over the phone as they kept us up to date on the progress. The A/C works great by the way! The exact same problem arose again not even 6 months after taking it back in. He said he would have an associate reset the car cpu, but he never got back after leaving us having for months. I went here to have my engine light checked. As a broke college student, my mother came with me in case of emergency. The older gentleman at the counter asked what our budget was and my mother told him $500. He kept my car for an hour then called to tell me the spark plugs and MAP processor needed to be replaced, and the total cost was $495. I called BS. I let him know my engine light would shut off tomorrow because I just changed the oil (and it did). Needless to say, I did not allow them to service my car. I later found out the total in parts for spark plugs and MAP processor is $115. Therefore, I would have paid $385 in labor. I now use a family owned mechanic shop that would never dare charge that amount in labor. Also, they cleaned my MAP processor so it is like new and showed me that the spark plugs do not need to be replaced. In response to the comment: It is not a coincidence that the man at the desk asked our budget, then proceeded to state the repairs are the exact cost of the budget... The car was looked at my FOUR mechanics after who can all contest to the truth of what the car needed done. Maybe the one mechanic who claimed to clean the MAP censor lied. I would not be surprised, he also put the wrong alternator in the car. It is terribly difficult to find a conscious, friendly mechanic shop in this city. So today I called asking about a battery for my car and after telling the person what kind of car I have he told me the battery for that one would be 189 plus tax. So I head up there give him my car he calls me later telling me that I do you a new battery then told me he had given me the wrong type of battery the one that works for my car would be 278 dollars. He tried lying to me to up sell, I'd already have you what type of car I have so how come the right battery is way over priced. So I get the cheaper battery then when I get up there his whole attitude change. Very dismissive and would even look at me while talking to me. I went there for an oil change... There are many places in the area that do an oil change, but they quoted the best price, and shortest wait time.... I was told it'd be an hour and a half. I walked to the bar across the street to the PT's. After 2 hours I went back considering someone who came in after me at PT's told me they were told it'd take just as long at a different business, was called and done before me, then they told me it'd be another 30-45 mins... After 4 hours I finally left. They had a Yelp check in special, that would save me $5.00... But they couldn't figure it out so they gave me a coupon for a free oil change for my next time... Which was better. The only up sell they offered was that I needed a new air filter... The price quoted $17.98 also covered topping off all the fluids. The service I got was great. Hear me out. Sun auto was great years ago when I bought a car and on the 32nd day of having it, the transmission went out. Well just recently I have been having multiple problems with car and I took it to pep boys, paid 1200 for repairs. My car still had a stutter to it still and I thought maybe its my transmission again. Called and spoke to shane at sun auto and he told me to bring it down. They stated it was not my transmission. I was told I need a coolant flush and air filter change which should have already been done at Pep boys. So Shane and his team "fixed" my car. Soon as I got my car home, I parked it for about an hour before I had to leave for work. When I came out to leave, you could see green fluid running under my car... as pictured. I called sun auto and they told me to bring it back. I did. Shane claimed it was just the cap and they exchanged it. My car is STILL leaking to this very day and stuttering/shaking. They put the wrong color coolant into my vehicle and claimed it was ok because it doesnt matter what coolant they put into it. I spoke with Chevy and they said my specific car takes the orange/goldish coolant ONLY. I am beyond upset that I paid for services at Sun Auto and my car has not been fixed. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Nearly every time that we've taken our car here for repairs, we've left with new problems. I dont know if they purposely break other things while they are 'fixing' your car, or if they just don't 100% complete the service that you brought the car in for in the first place. Insurance company say they supposed to upcharge 18 to 20% they upcharged me 118% repair cost 500 dollars more than insurance company researched it for elsewhere. I will not go there ever again.
