Greasy. Simply greasy. I'm not entire sure how rice can get greasy, but they made it happen. I ordered the beef and broccoli. It was bland. I kept having to add soy sauce to get some flavor. It didn't work all that well. My friend ordered the sweet and sour chicken-- minutes after I gave my order and still she got her food first. Maybe mine took longer? I don't know, just didn't seem right. She ate her chicken, but didn't like the rice either. The tempura on the sweet and sour chicken was HEAVY and the sauce? It was just eh. The place seemed to have a steady stream of people wanting to order and they were kept busy, so it could have been a fluke. Or it could be lack of choices. Maybe this far from the center, the choices are seriously limited. Prices were seriously reasonable, but the canned sodas instead of fountain really threw me off. Was quoted an hour delivery time but food was delivered in half the time. The delivery driver was friendly and engaging. I have loved this Chinese Restaurant ever since they came to the north side of Jacksonville! I have since, moved away and when I came back to visit this weekend we inadvertently ordered from them again. I had the orange chicken (fresh and actual chopped chicken chunks, perfect orange sauce, fresh broccoli and generous portions) I must emphasize, thoug, that it's REAL, juicy and fresh chicken used by this restaurant. I ordered fried dumplings and beef teriyaki for lunch. It arrived cold but I was hungry so I didn't mind it. I bit into the dumpling and noticed how pink it was on the inside and how soft the texture was in the middle of the dumpling. I opened the rest of them and they were all raw in the middle. Even after having the call close to 15 times and be hung up on multiple times. Because the first time I was rushed of the phone and wasn't even able to inform how I was paying. Worst experience EVER!!!! I am a restaurant manager. I get it and I don't complain but we watched the driver take our bag out and shake it up and drug through it. When we got it everything was soaked!!!! The fortune cookies were crushed and everything was ruined. I called the manager and she hung up on me. I've been coming here for a long time, like 10 years. This place is the "cheap Chinese" variety but they are much better than most. Before 3 pm they have a lunch special, and it's only $5.25 and includes a drink. I usually go for the general tso's chicken, original I know. The chicken is good, and they have generous portions of it along with the rice of your choosing. They usually have your order ready in 15 minutes, you can call it in, and they even deliver. Sun Sun Garden is definitely a neighborhood staple for our part of town. The quality of the food we have ordered is great and the service is really great too. We have ordered a variety of menu items and always pleased with our selections. Our return favorites off the menu are the Mongolian Beef and General Tso's Chicken. Great flavors and the right amount of crispness and freshness to each meal we order. I have done both carry out and delivery, and I have used the website to place my order as well.
