The people that work there are very nice. I got the veg fried rice and the veg chow fun. I am a cook but sometimes I get lazy So I go there to get side dishes. The food that I got is very tasty, and you get a ton of it!! Over 5lbs of food for just over 20 bucks. I'll have side dishes for a whole week. I would say this is more of a take out place, and not sit down. I think there might be one table, so remember that if you go

Sigh... it used to be good. Over the two decades we've patronized this restaurant, the only thing constant is change. Many years ago, the lemon chicken was breaded chicken patties with a nice lemon sauce over them and some lemon slices. Now it's presented like Panda's orange chicken. A bunch of breaded chicken chunks covered in a glaze. Hard to taste any lemon. Egg foo young has been hit or miss. It got really good when some younger people were running the place a year or so ago, but this weekend, ours was mostly bean sprouts and more bean sprouts. Maybe it was a mistake, but a couple times in recent years egg foo young here was best we've had. Not so today Other reviews have mentioned large portions. That is for real. We support family owned restaurants and may give this one more chances as we have over the years. Unfortunately we never know what we're gonna get.

It's very close to my home, and I love their curry Singapore-style fried rice noodles. They never disappoint me.

In Fresno nearby the shopping area is this family owned restaurant. I'm myself come from NYC. Once in a while my family and I crave some take out Chinese food. First entered the store is open floor plan and there are giant and print menus for you to view. The staff was very helpful and assisted me through the process. We highly recommend when you are in the area to stop by this delicious restaurant.

4/27/24 Getting lunch! I called and ordered the special chow mein. The worker was kind and said it would be ready in 10 minutes. I went to pick it up shortly later! Greeted by kind worker after entering. Looks like a family business. She was happy to give me 2 fortune cookies & sauces to go with it. Handed it over after paying with well wishes! Lunchtime! It's a lot! Easily 4 meals! Great! Special Chow Mein was Really Great & DELICIOUS! They do not hold back on veggies or meat! Mother said her portion was Great too! Lots of leftovers! Great service & GREAT, impressive Special Chow Mein! Highly recommended!

The new owners are really nice and the food is good too. Generous portions. I would come again for sure.

I have no idea what people are giving good reviews about...?? Ordered two dishes and pan fried noodles for $32 Absolutely the least meat one beef / one chicken I've ever received in dishes from a Chinese restaurant - tasteless to boot. Should of gone with 1st thought the McRib at MickyDonalds If you want two courses of vegetables and a load of starch (noodles) for your dollar this is your place. Otherwise I Recomended anywhere else... Im sorry I tipped the guy for my order but he was cordial. I will never go back for $1 in ingredients but if you like your food with no beef or chicken have at it.... read more

Boyfriend and I saw such great reviews for this and decided to try it. The reality did not fit the expectation in the slightest. The noodles that we ordered were both super undercooked and burnt. The orange chicken was okay, but the sweet and sour pork did not taste like it should. I would say the only good things we got were the fortune cookies. I would definitely not recommend this to anyone. read more

Meh. Went here on a whim and ordered the chow mein, orange chicken, and pot stickers. The chow mein was undercooked and had no flavor. Panda Express is out of this world compared to this place. Fortune cookie was the best part of this meal. Sorry not sorry. read more

FABULOUS!!! I regret never having submitted a review of Sun Wah before today. My wife and I have been purchasing take-out for many years from these folks; and loving it! The portions are exceedingly generous, the flavor of each item we have purchased has been fabulous, the owners are kind, quite talented and extremely hard working individuals. We live in the area and come here often . They do not have dine in but it's a nice family owned and run business. Clean and kept up restaurant. The food is good and reasonably priced. Sometimes their phone is busy but if you just show up they'll have you out quickly. Also the market is next door to grab drinks for dinner if needed. We love this place. Must try. read more

called this evening to order dinner @5:50PM. The person(older man) answered the phone and I told him I wanted 2 dinner plates...he blurted out that I needed to wait 40 min. and then hung up on me. I have eaten here numerous times and have enjoyed the food. They are skimpy about giving mustard and cookies so you have to ask. But after the rudeness and being hung up on without even given a chance to order I will take my business elsewhere. New name should be Sun Has Gone Down Kitchen. read more

This is place is a hit or miss. Sometimes the food is pretty good, most of the time it is just average. Nothing wrong with that at all. It's affordable Chinese food with is always a plus. The best item is the orange chicken. They have never disappointed with that one. The old man who works the kitchen and takes orders is not the nicest of people. He once yelled at a buddy of mine because he didn't specify if wanted rice or noodles. HAHAHA. I thought it was rather funny. read more

I could have swore that I rated this place before, but I perhaps had forgotten to do so. I don't know what is up with this place but the food always tastes off to me. The Mongolian Beef always has a sweet taste, something that I notice every bad Chinese restaurant has in common with one another, and its why Mongolian Beef is always the first thing I order at a new place, it always lets me know if I will want to return or not. However I have ate here a few times because for some unfathomable reason, people I know actually like eating here. Every time the food has been bad and I have fianlly put my foot down and refuse to return here to eat. read more

Are these people giving rave reviews professional bloggers or HIGH? Check out the one that lives in San Francisco and comes back to Fresno for Chinese food? I lived there for about 7 years in SF, and you will not find better Chinese food in the US, other than maybe LA or NY city. This place would not even be in the top 5 for Fresno, maybe in the top 10, but hey how many Chinese food places are there in Fresno? My experience: Its one of those places that waits to make your food when you arrive even though you called in you order. I ordered their supposed "Best Chinese Chicken Salad in Fresno", Chicken was not only precooked and rewarmed, it had been cooked at least 2 times! Salad seamed to be pre-made and wilty, dressing was average at best... It would have been a very good salad if it was made fresh to order. Chow Fun, I ordered Beef, but got Chicken? It was OK, but I ordered Beef! Generals Chicken (one of my Favorite Chinese dishes!) Again the Chicken was precooked, so were the noodles, (but most take out Chinese places precook there basic noodles) Sauce was average at best. Again this dish would have been good if it was made to order... I have learn my lesson the hard way, one can only know a place as one wants by trying a restaurant oneself, I will drive about a 2 miles more to China Restaurant, they at the very least make your food when you call it in and make it to order.... Some of these reviewers are paid, high or their favorite place to eat in Micky D's..... read more

First time there and ordered chow mein with orange chicken and fried rice. Husband and I ended up with food poisoning. Had vomiting and diarrhea 4 hours after I ate their food and it wasn't even good. Husband got food poisoning the next day. sticking to Panda Express cuz Fresno just doesn't have good Chinese food anywhere. read more

Wife and I used to go to this restraunt many years ago. Since we were at the grocery store today, we decided to get some take out. This is the worst Chinese food I've had in Fresno. Ginger Beef over rice - meat not fully cooked, sauce is more like American made beef gravy, rice was mushy. Curry beef chow mien - totally gross. Brandy Chicken wings - they look big so one should expect a decent amount of meat. This is 90% fried batter, 10% meat, uncooked batter on wings. read more

They seriously have the best chow mien in town, get it Chinese style. I read a review about bad Mongolian beef, and I am super picky about this dish in general so I made sure to ask for it spicy and it was great! The food is priced well and made very quickly! Love this place. Been eating here since 1999. Every thing is cooked fresh right in front of you. A true mom & pop establishment. The Szechuan chicken was a bit greasy, but still good with a nice, spicy flavor. Definitely wish there was less grease & more veggies. Crab Rangoons are Really Good! Great flavor dipped in the tasty sweet sauce! I definitely had leftovers too! Mother said hers was Good! She favored the Crab Rangoons too! Good service, Great Crab Rangoons & pretty good Szechuan chicken! Recommended!

I called them the day before I needed the trays. The lady I spoke to was so kind and accommodating she said it was never too late to place an order. I ordered half tray of broccoli beef and one veggie chow mein she gave me my price after tax and gave me the option to pay in person or over the phone. The day of pick up was NYE 5pm my husband was the one who picked up my order under my name. He arrived promptly at 5pm and said the food wasn't ready 5mins after 5pm he said he was about to leave. Literally a 16min drive from the restaurant to my house then another 14min drive to the Nye party we were attending. Upon arrival the food was still piping hot, it smelled AMAZING and they gave sooooo much food!!! It was nearly packed in trays with foil in a box and the food was piled high. I did notice that the veggie chow mein I had ordered was a combo-chicken, beef, shrimp and veggie, no biggie!!! But the food was delicious as always!!! There was so much leftovers. Way more bean sprouts (which we don't care for) than pan fried noodles. I didn't really care for the orange chicken. The meat was a bit dry and the sauce was a bit too mild for my taste. We had good service throughout our meal, with check ins and drink refills. Lots of food and enough leftovers for two more dinners.

They had a huge bar, lounge area, and an open kitchen with a lot of staff members working. Both inside and outside was nice with dim lighting. Very modern interior design with their tables, chairs, house plants, and neon signs. The service was top notch. The person came by to serve us water noticed our table was pretty wobbly so he fixed it instantly. I thought that was great for them to notice the small details. They always came by to fill our waters 4-5 times. They also remembered we were celebrating an anniversary so they offered us complementary champagne. Our waitress Celeste was very excellent. She gave suggested me dishes that I couldn't decide. We ended up getting the chicken taquitos ($17), the pork chop ($36) and the prime sirloin ($36). Food was delicious and everything tasted so good. I like the roasted Brussels spouts flakes on the pork chop and even though the sirloin was medium it was still very tender. Even the one time our water cups were empty she noticed and apologized and came back to refill them. The chicken taquitos were very good as well. Bathroom is a little small with only three stalls and one sink but the staff was nice enough to direct me to them cuz they saw I was looking around. Overall is a very good experience. I can see why they're very busy and I hope to come back to try their other dishes!

My dad had tried them, saying the pork chow mein is good. We decided to give them a try: we ordered; potstickers, egg rolls, special fried rice, sun wah chow mein, orange chicken and spicy beef. Overall it was really good. Made to order, friendly staff, quickly preparaed and not expensive. We loved the spicy beef - very good. The fried rice was one of my favorites and we equally enjoyed the chow mein. The orange chicken is good but it is sweeter, not spicy and if you like it deep fried crunchy - it is really good. The potstickers were okay but the egg rolls are awesome, especially with the hot mustard (which is very good as well). This is our new to-go stop when we do not want to cook. read more

I don't know if this place changed ownership. But as a first time visitor I had chicken chow mein and a few other staples, The place was local so I figured why not. It is pretty ordinary. Nothing great nothing awful. The thing that I found bothersome was that I requested 2 mustards and the owner=cook said NO. I only get one and the 2nd he charges me 6 cents. I was very surprised. I've eaten in lots of chinese restaurants but this is a First! 6 c for mustard? And to a new customer? What kind of impression to make. I am so glad I didn't ask for soy sauce. read more

We ordered takeout on Sunday and had a family gathering at home. Everyone in our family and group of friends was very satisfied with the food. I believe you will enjoy it too. The chicken salad was especially popular and was completely finished by everyone in no time! The fried rice and chow mein were also delicious and very satisfying. My grandson loves their orange chicken strips and asks for them every time. It has become one of his favorite dishes. We had a wonderful meal and will definitely order from here again. I think anyone who likes this place has never eaten chinese food outside of Fresno. For Fresno its ok. For good chinese food its awful. The house fried rice whas brown and white as in steamed rice. There were very few meats in it, 7 specks of tiny pork. Speck to me is a tiny morsel. Pot stickers tasteless. Pork Chow Mein - dry and skimpy In short nothing to recommend, If you've never left town you should go there. If you've been to real Chinese food, you might laugh at it. read more
