If I could write this place and I would! If you have not gone to Sunliner for breakfast, you are missing a real treat. Service is always impeccable. The place is generally crowded but you could still get in and if you're lucky, you could sit in one of the classic cars for your meal. I had the Western omelette with a biscuit hashbrowns with onions on it and a hot cake. The hashbrowns were the best. I think I've ever had. The hot cake was OK. We had been eating nothing but seafood for days on our trip to Alabama, so it was time for some good old burgers! This diner is large, bright, and clean, and we were seated almost immediately. It has a fun retro vibe throughout, and the menu did not disappoint. Our burgers were large and delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed them. After dinner, we decided to walk around the area and we're pleasantly surprised to find some cool old-fashioned cars in the diner parking lot that you could pose for pictures with! Service was good, we were seated promptly upon arrival. Within ten minutes of being seated a polite waitress had taken our orders, and our meals delivered. It was really that quick, but the speed of delivery apparently caused a significant reduction in quality. As I've stated in previous reviews, I am a sucker for chicken and waffles. I had nearly ordered a breakfast meal, but because my wife had decided to choose a Ruben sandwich from the lunch menu, I decided to peruse that menu also. And there it was that I found a chicken and waffle dish with a twist, for it was described as served with a topping of bell peppers and a sweet and spicy sauce. Intriguing as that seemed, sweet and spicy, rather than just sweet, as most chicken and waffle dishes are, I had to order it. My wife reported that there was a miserly amount of meat on her reuben, and that it was mostly bread, sauerkraut and thousand island sauce. She was very disappointed. As for the chicken and waffles, the chicken tenders, three in total, two of fair size and one small, were all deliciously fried and were delicious. The tiny diced green and red bell peppers were undercooked and appeared old and glassy, as if they had been frozen again and again when not used during the course of a day. The sweet/spicy sauce was a slightly enjoyable, but in the end I asked for some maple syrup to pour over the precooked and barely warm waffle. To say the least, we were very much disappointed, and I don't expect to be returning anytime soon, unless it is to try one of their burgers, that appeared, at least from what we observed being served to other diners, delicious and inviting. One redeeming thing above our visit was the slice of carrot cake we ordered. We ordered only one slice, thinking that it would be a large enough piece for the two of us to consume without feeling guilty. The slice that the waitress delivered to us seemed to be nearly one quarter of a regular size cake, and was so rich and tasty that we were unable to finish it. I wish that I had some of it now, but unfortunately, we left most of it on the table. read more

This is absolutely the cutest place to get breakfast/lunch ever. It reminds me of Disney world! all the old 50s stuff everywhere is absolutely fanatic and they even have a car in the middle of the restaurant that you can eat in! I love Lucy was playing silently in one of the rooms. The menus had fun facts about Gulf Shores in the 1950s. Our waitress was so cute and sweet, not to mention the food was delicious. We ate here yesterday, again on our way home. Since the last visit, I have come to terms with the anomaly of hamburger patties that can't be cooked before 11 while eggs can be cooked all day. Our waitress was way better than last time. She was nice and kept the glasses full. I got the steak and eggs. I was expecting a thin frozen steak like Waffle House. This steak was tender, juicy, and seasoned well. This will be my selection from now on before 11AM. Also, the bathrooms were very clean. Me and family went to the sun liner diner on a Friday afternoon. The server Stacy was horrible. No personality and was not attentive. We had not even finished placing our order and she was walking off. We gave it another chance the following week. Hoping we did not get Stacy again. Sure enough we got Stacey again. The chicken strips were burnt along with the fries . She never brought syrup for the waffles. She never once came back to check on us until it was time to pay. Sunliner Diner is a favorite stop when we visit the Gulf Shores area. This time we stopped by for breakfast as we headed out of town. Sunliner serves breakfast and then adds lunch/dinner after 11am. They were busy but we had no wait at around 9am. We chose items such as Eggs Benedict, Waffles, Corned Beef Hash and the Classic Breakfast. All of which we enjoyed. I never received a call, so I followed up over the next few days. I was later told there was a misunderstanding and that someone else had been hired. During the interview, I was asked to provide personal information, including my SSN, even though I was not officially hired. I don't believe this was part of our bill the last time we were here but if it was I missed but they charged us a fee for not using cash. No one mentioned to us there was an extra charge for using our debit card (most people don't carry cash anymore). So if you go to this restaurant be aware of the extra charge. read more
