I came in to do an inspection and they said we are busy come another day, even though it was early and like one car in the garage. Second time I called ahead and came in they said ok wait in the inspection line we will get to you. As it became my turn, one of the guys started arguing with a coworker saying he wasn't taking any more and that they shouldn't have told me to wait. He said he had to go out - mind you it was around 4pm. I told them that was very unprofessional and they should have let me know instead of making me wait just to still turn me away. Especially since there were 5 or 6 mechanics just standing around. They acted like they didn't care about the inconvenience caused by their negligence and started fighting with me and being very hostile. A bunch of unprofessional so and sos work here. I randomly noticed their new hours while driving by yesterday, after I had been told to come back on Monday by another business. Instead, I stopped at the Sunoco and my inspection was complete 15 minutes later. Do you ever feel ripped off after leaving a car dealership's service center or a local auto body shop? I have before, until I met Narad Maharaj, the service manager at the Sunoco on Elden Street 6 years ago. Never again will I take my car to the Acura servicing center for any auto work . They once charged me $32 for a part that normally would cost a few dollars. HBL was shady as well charging almost $2000 for doing nothing it seemed, since the car broke down 4 days after their work! I didn't know that I was taken advantage of until Narad told me what it should've cost. From that moment on, I knew that I could trust him and have referred him to most of my friends and family members. If you need any servicing for your car, I would recommend calling your dealership and ask them how much it would cost then call Narad and compare. It's most likely cheaper at Narad's even though he does better work and is also ASE certified. He wouldn't rip you off either by pushing products or services you don't really need. I've been taking my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 to Mohamed for the past year for service. In each case, he has insured an extremely thorough job was performed. Never any unnecessary charges, always polite and professional, and the work is done very well. The place is small, and reminiscent of the old neighborhood garage that could be relied on to do great work. If you need great service, where you don't have to worry they will "find" other things to repair just to pump up the price and make more money, this is the place. Weren't honest about labor hours. They count on people leaving their cars for the day so they can charge whatever labor they want. My advice would be to make an appointment and wait for the vehicle so you know when it is pulled into the garage and how long it takes for them to complete the work. They are nice and do a good job but wish they were more honest about the labor hours. If they need to charge more to make a living I understand that but they should up their hourly rate to compensate for what they are actually charging customers. read more

They tried to forcefully sell me wiper that didn't even fit my car when I found my new wipers in my trunk he called me A$$hole! He put the new wipers on and is like you can't return it now. ...finally have some time after the New Year to write my review.... I took my eleven year-old car into Elden Street Sunoco last November because I was having issues with the car surging and hesitating going up hills and inclines. I had an issue several months prior with getting bad gas in the gas tank and noticed both power and surging/hesitation issues right after that incident. It was hard to capture an engine code from the car because it only came up twice and was very brief. However, finally after capturing a code, I was able to research it and took it over to Jiffy Lube (J.L.) and requested a full spark plug change as well as a change of the ignition coil indicated by the code. Well, J.L. did change the spark plugs but said there was no ignition coil by that code number to change out. The car worked okay for a while and the power had improved, but then the hesitation/surging issue came back soon after that. After doing more research I took it over to Elden Street Sunoco for Thierry and his team to review. They reviewed the car while I waited and came back with a diagnosis that both the **coil pack** and wires would need to be changed. Since this was a large expense, I wanted to know about all the options. Thierry was patient as we went over different scenarios and options for fixing the car. At the end, he provided two different pricing quotes so I could have two plans of action and gave me time to think it over. I discussed these plans in length with a trusted family friend who knows about cars and he agreed that the full quote was the best way to go. I arranged for the car to be serviced the next week and Thierry and his team repaired it in one day. I appreciated Thierry being upfront and honest about the issue with the car and being willing to look at other pricing options to fit my budget. There was no pressure and he explained things well and also gave me time to make a informed decision (I also like the fact that he proactively ordered the parts while I was making my decision and had them ready without me having to pay in advance). Everything he cited was performed by his team. In the end, the car was fixed and is running smoothly again. I plan to use Elden Street Sunoco again and definitely recommend Thierry and his team for your next car repair visit...thanks for the service! read more

I've taken both cars there now for regular maintenance and repairs for two years. Both are about 10 years old, one CRV and one Toyota Sienna. There is no up selling and they explain the problem clearly. Every time I've gone for a routine oil change somewhere else I'll end up paying a lot more than the states price because of the up charges but not with this Sunoco. They've told me many times "you don't need to change" this or that, maybe in another 5000 miles. My cars are running great. read more

Both of my lighter/chargers went dead last week, and I need them working asap to charge my phone when I head north for Thanksgiving tomorrow (right, would so prefer to head south, but you know, family...) Attempted to switch out the fuses but my fuse puller was missing and the needlenose pliers didn't work. The fuses are in a totally awkward spot under the dash, you have to twist yourself around after sliding in on your back. Spent quite a bit of time working at it but no luck, and the car parts store only had a puller that was too large. This Sunoco was nearby and I popped in to see if I could borrow their fuse puller for a couple minutes to take care of it. They wouldn't hear of it, insisting that I pull into the bay and they did it for me then and there. Wouldn't take money for it. There was a really lighthearted vibe among the guys, too, like they enjoy working together and bring the customer along for the ride. That says a lot about a place, too. Especially since so many other service station mechanics just seem so brooding. That was my first visit, and definitely not my last. I don't give 5 stars easily but these guys hit it out of the park. read more

These guys lie about how long it takes and easily charge twice as much for labor as it actually takes them. They rely on people dropping off vehicles so you have no long it takes and so they can charge whatever they want. My advice is to make an appointment and wait around for you car to be worked on that way you know how long it should take. Their hourly rates are posted and if they charge more than that they are not being honest. They used to be busier than they are now because people have started catching on they are dishonest. They do ok work but it is not nice to charge more than it actually costs. read more

I asked my friend to get an oil change on my car. He did not know where to go so he stopped at this gas station. Once the car was back. It was leaking oil so I brought it back. It came out that the plug was damaged (since it was not leaking before, it was damaged at this specific oil change). They fix it but oddly asked me to pay for the part. So I was really puzzled. Since I didn't have to pay for labor (and it took them a while to fix it), it seems like they aknowledge the fact that it was their fault. But they asked me to pay $5 for the part?!!? It was poor judgment on their part. Up until they asked me to pay for the part, I would have given them credit for trying to make this right (even though I had to miss a day of work because of that). But asking for the $5 seemed really odd. read more

Like most people, I dont know much about cars, and I dont have the time to worry about them either nor the space to work on it myself....I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this gas station and the service manager there by the name of Samy Kassar. He was very informative and honest which is an unknown commodity in the car service industry. He was very thorough and pointed out all the things he felt my car needed right away, as well as services he felt could wait (rather than jacking me for all my money like most service people ive come across before). Regardless, my car is running much better than before and thats all that really matters. Fast and friendly service. Took my car in for a state and emissions inspection and was out in about 30 minutes. For inspections you have to wait in a car line and a technician will come and get your car when they are ready to take it in. Make sure you have your car registration ready to expedite the process. I came here expecting to drop off my car and come back later to pick it up. So I was surprised to have to wait in line (second car in line). It ended up not being an issue since the service was so fast. Both the tech and cashier were friendly during the whole process. I sat outside on a bench and waited for my car. Very shady and misleading service. Had a tire checked for losing air but it was the TPMS leaking instead of the tire. They immediately started looking for a replacement part & never mentioned that TMPS may be covered by warranty. I even saw the guy check my VIN to see the model and year so he knew the car was relatively new and likely covered. They couldn't find a part so he then asked if I wanted them to try to fix it & I said yes. They couldn't fix it so they then asked if I wanted to replace with a normal valve stem & I said yes. Found out AFTER they finished that they had to break the TPMS in two when changing (thus I can't claim warranty) and hid the parts at first. When I asked for the part, they then acted funny and made excuses about breaking it. Next day I found out warranty would have covered, but they will not replace the part they broke since I can't claim it. Very misleading and bad customer service (tried to immediately order part without suggesting to check warranty) and EXTREMELY rude when I ask them to cover what they broke. read more
