Probably one of the worst buffets I have ever been to. They advertise that they have 200 different dishes, one including steak crab all the good things we went there were maybe 40 dishes. We went for a weekend lunch and the floor was sticky as soon as we walked in, even the bathroom. There was an odd smell in the building, not food, not exactly mold, just an odd smell. I like Sunrise Buffet for having a good selection of food, drinks and desserts. But what I don't like about this restaurant is that they do not clean their utensils and glasses thoroughly. I mean when the soda was served on a plastic glass, I immediately saw imprint's of probably the last person's mouth imprinted on the rim of the glass. It's a good thing COVID-19 is gone. But we still have to continue to sanitizing everything in the kitchen from the utensils, the plates, serving spoons all the way to the frying pans, wok and other kitchen tools. It is very disgusting. So if ever you visit this restaurant again, please make sure you check the glasses before drinking your favorite beverage. Sterilize the spoon and fork in a glass of very hot water. We have eaten several times at the Sunrise Buffet. It's the best Chinese buffet in San Diego. Their food is always good, the selection is varied and the food is plentiful. They have a great selection of sushi. The restaurant's physical plan is very practical - lots of seating and the food counters are set up so it's easy to walk around them without long lines forming. The service is fast and the restaurant is very clean. We really enjoy Sunrise Buffet more than any other Chinese buffet we have visited. read more

I mean, what do we really expect from a $20 Buffett in 2022?! It was clean, the place was really big, huge variety of dishes. The crab was so overcooked it was a shame those poor animals had to die for that. I enjoyed the fried rice, lo mein and a few of the other items. They also had a lot of nice looking fruit. I went today and got 3 dinner buffets and paid $71.08 and was charged $85.30 that's a 20%tip they dont give you regular checks and dont say anything to you.. and I mad it a point to say I left your tip on the table.. I don't like the shrimp which tends to be over-cooked (typical for most buffets which are concerned about under-cooking, is my guess). I was surprised by a reviewer who criticized the "ice cream." Yes, it's a mostly watery-icy soft serve but I thought it was the perfect consistency for after eating greasy, high-calorie entrees as opposed to something similar to rich Häagen-Dazs.
