This is probably one of my favorite Peruvian chicken joints in the DMV area. The chicken is always crisped marvelously gold, gleaming with hints of char formed by bits of fiery red coal chips ever-present in the rotisserie pit. Out from the 'a la brasa,' a most succulent, juicy chicken is fashioned with not a single hint of pink or raw. And I mean juicy, not greasy. I loved Super Chicken when it first opened. The aroma pulls you in. Yesterday I took time out to grab a bag to go. The chicken size was smaller than I remember. I also select the Yuca and Plantain. The chicken was delicious as usual, but my sides were dry and hard. Disappointing. The service was the same, polite, not overly friendly. Food was ok. The chicken was very flavorful and tender, but also very salty. As others mentioned, the sides are really where they're lacking. We had both kinds of rice, the chickpeas, and the vegetables. They were out of corn. Both rice sides were fairly bland, and same for the chickpeas. The veggies were not good at all. I'm pretty sure they are bulk frozen veggies. You know, the ones with the giant wavy carrot chips. The desserts are pretty good. We had the alfajor and tres leches. One of the best places for super delicious chicken. I visited my sister's place on a weekend and on the way back she took me and my husband for lunch here. We ordered a lot of food, 2 whole chickens, 2 breaded fishes and a taco salad. Along with these, 8 different sides including chickpeas, black beans, red beans, chicken fried rice, plain white rice, green salad, cole slaw, their special fries came as well. Our table was full of these items. chicken was sooo delicious that I ordered one more for to-go and took it back to my home for dinner. Was in the area picking up a monitor from Best Buy when i asked my check out guy if he had any recommendations for lunch nearby. He said hands down Super Chicken was the place to go. A little off put by a place that sounds like a Marvel movie spin-off, I was hesitant until I drove by and saw that it was the only crowded place in a covid deserted plaza. Got a chicken bowl, horchata, and plantains. The chicken... was amazing. It was shredded and very moist/flavorful. They give you an option of three kinds of rice: orange/green (white w carrots and peas), brown, and green (not sure what was in it but looked good!) which was interesting too. Sauces are yummy too (I would get them on the side next time to control the amount though) Horchata was okay. Refreshing but nothing special. Plantains were cooked well. Not overdone. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. When they saw me sit outside, two of the staff came by to help me open my umbrella. Def coming back if I'm in the area again. read more

Okay enough is enough - I MUST MUST finally post my 5 STAR review of this awesome Peruvian chicken place. I come here OFTEN especially when a hankerin' comes over me for juicy, tender, perfectly spiced and piping hot CHAR-BROILED Peruvian chicken. Soooooo gooood! I've had many a Peruvian chicken in the local area and Super Chicken is TOPS on the list by a mile. The waft of char-roasted and spiced chicken hangs in the air in the shopping center parking lot - it's really impossible to miss. THE BEST free advertising there is! The interior of the restaurant is super basic and nothing fancy at all. It's clean with a decent number of tables inside but it's not a big place and if crowded, open available seating can become an issue. When the weather is nice, outdoor seating doubles their seat count and is nicely laid out (tables have nice big umbrellas for sunny/hot weather). But the ambience isn't why you come here. Come here for awesome rotisserie Peruvian chicken - they say their chickens are broiled with natural wood charcoal - you can definitely taste that charcoal flavor! My review caveat: all the times I've eaten here (a LOT!) I get the exact same thing: their rotisserie chicken, sides of fried yucca, plantains and white rice - that's all, end of story. I have never veered from 'my usual' as I am HOOKED on this very flavor combo. One day (...maybe...) I'll go outside my comfort zone and try other menu items lol. The green and white sauces are HANDS DOWN the MOST DELICIOUS of any of the PC places I've tried ANYWHERE! DIPPING HEAVEN. The white sauce is super rich, creamy and flavorful. The green sauce has a horseradishy-clear-out-your-nasal-passages kick to it that gives the meal an amazing flavor boost. The fried yucca is perfectly deep fried for that perfect crunch factor and salted just so. The plantains are soft, caramel-y sweet and flavorful. The white rice is fluffy and delish. Portions for sides are generous. (Order 1/4, 1/2 and whole chicken platters that include sides - a better deal than ordering everything a la carte.) And everything is served PIPING HOT. Prices are spot on for what you get. EXCELLENT VALUE for what you pay. I've come during lunchtime, mid day, on the weekends - there's always a steady stream of customers coming in to eat-in or carry-out. It's cafeteria-style service and the staff behind the counter are production machines and know how to move the line along efficiently. All staff I've encountered have been pleasant and friendly. We had a hankerin' for Peruvian chicken and happen to be at the Dulles Towne Center and found this place. It smelled fantastic. However, not only do the employees here not know what customer service is, but don't seem to care either. We placed our order and got a number then stood in line to pay. The women at the counter just went about her business stocking and wandering around. When the people in front of us asked if we pay first she completely ignored them. After we placed our order 7 other people came in, ordered, paid, and left with their food. After 25 minutes of being ignored, I finally just placed our number (36) on the counter and we left. I typically don't like Peruvian chicken places because their menus are so limited, and rotisserie chicken is just not my thing. But my wife loves it, so we tried this one. Turns out, Super Chicken has a pretty robust menu that combines deli, Peruvian joint and Mexican options. The food is really good. I had the chicken-steak sub. My wife said the rotisserie chicken is good, though not as flavorful as Uncle Rico's or some of the other famous places inside the beltway. Still, we'd come back here. This is the first time I have tried anything Peruvian and oh my gosh- it was absolutely worth trying. I have always seen a huge line during lunch and dinner time that tempted me to try. It didn't disappoint me at all. The chicken had an amazing charcoal/smoke flavor and seasoning were on point. The chicken was very juicy (not greasy at all). We got the dark meat and it comes with two sides and two yummy sauces. Although you don't need any sauce to go with it but I really liked the mayo sauce. Before we moved to Sterling, we lived in Tyson's and loved the Super Chicken on 7. The Sterling locations food is way to salty and the service has left us plenty disappointed on many occasions. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, I will no longer support a business that continuously leaves me with a bad experience. I ordered a pick up for dinner, two lomos and one quarter chicken for my kids and a few sides. I go by the store to pick up my food, as I am grabbing my bag, I don't think to look because I'm rushing to get back home. I make sure to ask the guy at the counter if this is my complete order and repeated my order to him. He said it was and waved me out. As I was driving home I am looking at the bag and realize that there is no way three meals are in that bag and I'm a fool for not checking and trusting my gut. Lo and behold, the my kids food and sides was missing. I call the restaurant and the guy said that he thought he gave me the whole order and that he only gives customers what he is given hoping it's correct.. what? Lol. Anyway, I tell him that there is no way I'm returning as I am almost home and they need to find a way to resolve this. All he said was "your options are to turn around and come pick up your food" - I hung up. I can no longer continue to support a business that CONTINUOUSLY makes mistakes with all of our orders and their lack of customer service. Tried out Super Chicken for lunch recently and was pleasantly surprised. It's not the biggest inside, though the space looks like it from the outside. But there's a good amount of seating outside on a nice day. The line moves quickly and the food was pretty good. I went for 1/4 chicken (dark meat, duh) and asked the kind man to chop it up a bit more for easy eating. This $7.49 inexpensive meal came with two sides. For mine I chose yucca (which they definitely piled on my plate) and a cup of this spinach and potato dish. This second side was definitely greasy looking, but it tasted good to me and um.. no problems to be had later from it. Chicken had a good roasted/charcoal flavor. Yucca was crisp and yummy. Prices were very reasonable. No complaints for Super Chicken in my book. read more

Stop in for a delicious Peruvian chicken, and you will not be disappointed. It's hot, succulent, and come with a choice of spicey and savory sauces that only make the chicken better. The side dishes are great, except for those that 'time out' such as French fries... It was a bit frustrating to show up hungry and order directly, only to stand there, in front of the food, watching them prepare meals for phone-in orders.... Being there in-person didn't seem to have an effect. I almost felt it would have been more efficient to phone my order in while standing in line, because they do blow off those waiting... Peruvian? Chicken?? Charcoal??? Yes please. While it's not the best food I've ever eaten, it's certainly enjoyable and the chicken lives up to its name. A lot of items are healthy here too! Here's my meal: Quarter Chicken (dark meat) - 4/5 - This is hero of this restaurant; SUPERRR CHICKEEENNN!!! The seasoning was perfect and it was cooked just right! There were a couple sauces on the side that were okay, but not even needed. My only issue was that it was a little soggy, but that's what happens after it's been under a heat lamp for a bit. If the skin was crispy, this would be a solid 5. Brown Rice (fried white rice) - 3/5 - I was told it was brown rice, but I'm pretty sure that it was fried white rice. The spices were not bad, but the rice was a little dry for me. I really enjoyed the first few bites, but I got bored of it pretty fast. I don't know if I'll do this side next time. Steamed Veggies - 3/5 - Just your everyday vegetable medley, nothing much to say here. There was no seasoning and if they uaed butter, it was very little (which is a plus for health nuts). The string beans had a good texture to them. A safe choice for the conservative. All-in-all, this is a decent place with great chicken! I will definitely return here if I'm ever in the mood for some good charcoal cooking. The sides were bland, but there are probably a couple good ones. The portions are huge and the food is really, really good. I ordered a QUARTERLY CHICKEN WHITE and it came with 2 sides. I ordered an additional side of plantains but the plate was so overflowing with my chicken, plantains and mixed vegetables, I only accepted those for my meal. Chicken is always well seasoned and fully cooked (I pray not to have an experience as others have mentioned). My daughters fave is the lomo saltado. We love the green sauce and clearly are not the only ones. There is now a sign verifying how many are allowed per order type. I'm gonna find a recipe to make this stuff at home. Give it a try! My only con is the option of healthy sides. Since discovering Peruvian chicken there is only one place in the area that offers string beans along with the the usual sides. 5 stars for excellent chicken! I am a sucker for peruvian chicken and could eat it everyday. ANNNDDD their yellow sauce is good, which can be rare to have good sauce and chicken at one place. I won't say they are better than Waku Chicken (the best) on this side of town but pretty damn close. The huge portion of fries came to me hot and perfectly crispy. The plantains is one complaint, they seemed dry like they've been there all day..not a fan. Definitely will be back to get more chicken! read more
