This is a cozy, local sushi spot. The servers are nice and keep their distance so you can enjoy your meal in peace. They carry the usual rolls and dishes that you would expect any standard sushi spot to have. I would have loved a few specials to make their menu stand out. Their price point is fair and the quality is good. They are worth a try.

Not bad, Bloom. Not bad. I enjoyed the experience overall. I appreciate that they have blinds to keep out the sunlight. With the weather warming up, it's nice to be able to block out the sun/ heat. Service was good. The waitress was asking for our food order, and we barely had time to look lol It's a pretty big menu. I ordered one of the bento boxed lunches. I went with the salmon option. It was good and had a decent flavor. The rice was freshly made, and the salad fresh. I ordered avocado rolls and cucumber rolls. Both were good. I do think I enjoyed the avocado rolls better. I was happy with my bento boxed lunch meal. It was satisfying. My husband ordered an assortment of different sushi cuts and liked all of them lol He isn't picky though and loves most food.

Great salmon sushi I got. Solid pricing in what I got as a set. People are chill honestly. Service was served on time for me.

My girlfriend and I came here for a quiet lunch during the week after working out. The service was exceptional. The food was above amazing. It was quiet and relaxing, and we felt so nurtured. We will be returning here many times.

Had prob one of them best tasting chicken teriyaki. Food was really good. My wife loved her Big Island Roll. She said everything tasted super fresh. We will definitely be coming back. Prices were good they had a lunch promo but one roll get one 50% off

I grew up going to this sushi place before it became Sushi Boom. I now revisit even though I no longer live in Orange as of 14 years ago. I absolutely love this place and the cuisine has gotten so much better and there is variety in their rolls. My siblings, my significant other, and my friends always love coming with me when I go because the food and the prices are AMAZING. The servers are always kind and don't hover. The location closely mimics an authentic sushi place and the place is like Orange's hidden gem. The outside is cute but inside it is prettier! My order usually is the Veracruz roll or a Specialty Crunch roll, mixed Tempura, Squid or Octopus, and some sprites. I tend to mix it up sometimes but always ask for their mochi icecream before I leave. I'll always love coming here and I hope this business always thrives. I wouldn't be surprised if it went viral one day

They have definitely had another ownership change recently and it shows in the food quality, portions and service. The appearance and ambience of the restaurant are pretty much the same but everything else is much better now. Prices are what you would expect for good sushi in OC. Our favorites are the Green Supreme and the Japanese Burrito because they are no rice, but our girls love the Mexicana and Baked Lobster rolls. Their Salmon, Yellowtail and Tuna sashimi are always fresh and are served in generous portions.

Food is good here. Sushi isn't the best I've had. It left a very fishy smell on my fingers. Items are pretty pricey. There are no free refills (except for iced tea). I noticed one of the guys working the sushi bar was drinking out of a Sapporo bottle while working which was absurd. Our waitress was kind and helpful. It is a relaxed atmosphere with soft music and some tvs in the corners. As for payment, they DO NOT accept American Express. Overall, a nice family friendly/date night spot.

Excellent and fresh sushi, good staff, a decent amount of seating with plenty of lighting and decor, an overall good time - what more could you ask for!! Met up with a friend in a city I'm not as much familiar with and the yelp reviews definitely supported the choice! We ordered the salmon Lover roll and the six sushi (nigiri) chef combo with a spicy tuna roll and all was really yummy and came out relatively quick! Should I find myself in Orange again I will be back!

Stopped by for lunch with a friend on a Saturday. Ordered a bento box and it was ok. My friend had a sushi roll. I felt the food was good but pricey. Service was ok; not great but not bad either. Essentially, the experience and food left me lukewarm.

theres clearly a reason i havent been back in 5+ years. my food was very flavorless and basic. one of my rolls was supposed to have mango in it.. the mango was hard as a rock. it was supposed to have spicy crab.. not spicy. the rolls i got were just basic. very upset. i got tempura. it was just bland, not flavorful, not really tasty. A for effort. good luck

This place never misses! The fish is always super fresh, the kitchen is really clean, and the staffs are super nice. I've been here more than five times now, and it's consistently good every time. Definitely one of my favorite sushi spots!

The sushi is fresh, tasty and beautiful. Service is quick and accommodating. The ambiance is okay for a busy Chapman Ave location, some lite traffic noise. Overall a great local choice for sushi in Orange. Try the specials!

Second visit, and probably the last…read more Our first visit about a year ago was excellent -- good enough that I was happy to return expecting a repeat. This time we left without much desire to come back, and for me it comes down to one thing: how the food tasted. The amuse bouche was an inauspicious start -- small bits of a cooked protein (chicken?) in a standard Japanese onion vinaigrette. The protein was unidentifiable, I didn't finish it, and I'm not sure how it's supposed to set the table for a sushi dinner. Ohshima's strength is supposed to be nigirizushi: small rice, generous fish, with a carefully chosen condiment and/or tare to enhance each piece. That formula worked on the pieces that got tare -- akami and masu were the standouts of the evening. But on the remaining pieces, the itamae misted the fish with what he described as yuzu after construction. Yuzu has a distinct floral-citrus character that's hard to miss; what came through instead was a watery taste that muted the fish's natural flavor. Toro, which should have been a highlight, suffered the most from this. Water is the enemy of flavor, and whatever was in that spray bottle undermined the whole point of the condiment approach. Three of the thirteen pieces were closely related jacks -- hiramase, kampachi, and shima aji -- which bordered on redundant given how similar they are in flavor profile. The gindara was torched aggressively enough to leave a residual propane taste. At $260 for two before tip (including two large Sapporo), I'd also note that the diner's-choice extra piece offered on our first visit wasn't available this time -- a quiet downgrade, though I understand the economics. The technical execution was competent. Nothing was bad in an obvious way. But the watery flavor issue was consistent and consequential enough to make this a shadow of what it was.

It's not very far from Disney, but far enough from the crowds. First, the service was great. They were very nice and attentive. It was pretty slow, but it was Sunday on a holiday weekend. It was a little spicier than I expected and it was delicious. What I most appreciated was I was able to order more rolls for variety because an order was 4 pieces. The price reflected the amount and so you really could try different rolls and not pay $15-20 for each. The restaurant was cozy and tastefully decorated. 3.5/5 Stars - Nice Experience, But Some Service and Timing Issues…read more We visited Tabi-Ji Teppanyaki for my husband's birthday and had an overall decent experience, though there were a few things that would make us think twice before returning. We chose the dining room seating rather than the teppanyaki tables. The staff did offer us the teppanyaki experience, but since we don't eat red meat or chicken from certain places and weren't sure how the food preparation process worked with mixed ingredients, we opted for a regular table instead. One downside was the seating arrangement. We were seated away from most of the other guests, and it often felt like the staff forgot we were there. Our original host/server was attentive and friendly, but once they were busy with other tasks, it became difficult to get assistance. It was also not busy for a Tuesday evening. We found ourselves waiting for long periods or having to wave someone down, which wasn't ideal, especially for a birthday dinner. As for the food: * Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll (4/5): Fresh, good quality fish, and a generous portion. A solid sushi roll. * Garlic Edamame (4/5): Flavorful and exactly what you'd expect from a good appetizer. * Lobster Duo with Miso Soup, Salad, and Fried Rice (3/5): Unfortunately, the lobster was quite chewy and seemed overcooked. The miso soup and fried rice were both enjoyable and helped make up for it. * Unagi Donburi (4/5): My husband's meal came with white rice, miso soup, salad, and fried rice. It was his first time trying eel, and he really enjoyed the soft texture and flavor. He said he'd definitely order it again. Our biggest disappointment was the timing of the food. The Unagi Donburi arrived significantly later than everything else. By the time it came out, we had already eaten most of the appetizers and other dishes and were pretty full. It's unfortunate because it seemed like a dish that would have been much better enjoyed fresh, but we ended up taking most of it home. Overall, the food ranged from good to very good, and being able to reserve through Resy and use our Amex dining benefit definitely helped offset the cost. However, considering the price point, we expected more attentive service and better pacing of the meal.

I've been to a lot of sushi restaurants over the years, and this place easily ranks in my Top 3. Every piece was exceptionally fresh, beautifully prepared, and absolutely delicious. I have to admit, I'm usually not a fan of tuna. But the moment I tasted the tuna here, I thought, "Have I been eating fake tuna all my life?" It was that good--clean, rich, buttery, and unlike anything I've had before. Another pleasant surprise was the California roll.
