Some friends recommended Sushi Boom. They said it is their go-to sushi place. So, we gave it a try. We had to order takeout due to COVID. Staff was masked up. Good. Both times we have ordered takeout, we ordered a bit too much. The portions are quite large. I can put away a lot of sushi, but I would limit myself to two rolls at Sushi Boom. Given the size of the portions, I think this is an ok value. We over ordered. Total bill was north of $100 both visits. For four of us, that is not a bad value. Sushi Boom will be an option for us in the future. It is not the best sushi around, but it is good for a neighborhood place. read more

This will be my first time coming here and even though I have heard many mixed reviews from friends, I have decided to give this place a try. I literally chose this place at the last moment, so I had no idea what they had on the menu, but I have to day I was pleasantly suprised. The lady at the order window was very helpful at what to order even though. I have yet to eat inside, but I found the food to be very delicious. It was okay compared to other sushi places I've been to. I'm glad they have a variety of sushi options for happy hour (5-9pm) just barely made it but the server was extremely busy and friendly so we took our time looking thru the menu and happy hour list. Ended up sharing the bento box that comes with miso soup, salad, rice, chicken teriyaki, California roll, and crunchy roll. And one order of the spider roll for happy hour. Price ended up being $25 for dinner which is considered average so not so pricey. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't great. The fish wasn't fresh and the portions weren't a lot. Usually I'd get full quickly from eating but my appetite wasn't compelled to come back here. The service was exceptional though. I'd give it that. I understand I have special circumstances but as a vegan I like to order here so my non vegan friends can get some delicious food. I just wanted to suggest adding some avocado to the vegetable roll...lettuce and rice isn't quite enough for the $8. My boyfriend loves everything here though! I wanted the albacore sashimi plate with the crispy garlic onion instead I got a roll. Im not one for maki rolls especially two of them so I was a little disappointed. So my usual break down. Albacore crunch onion roll: Inside spicy suntan and topped with albacore and sweet garlic fried onions, with a eel sauce ponzo sauce drizzle. The crunchy onions on top were CRACK!!!!! I can eat a whole plate of the onion and I would be just fine! Very fresh roll BUT I this is not what I wanted! I wanted the sashimi!!!! With crispy onion on top! Blue crab hand roll: VERY good. Wonderful presentation. This hand roll was packed with blue crab! It didn't have that super creamy warm taste but it was very good. Topped with smelt egg and scallions. Soft shell crab: Very fresh. Nice crunch. Just a solid soft shell crab. Nice and clean. Hamachi roll: Hamachi on the in and outside of this roll. Sliced jalapeno on top and a sriracha drizzle. I asked for a side of spicy japo mayo and it was game over on that! That's all it needed and that made it perfect! When I do a yellowtail roll, I always need spicy mayo to dip it in for some reason LOL. Im getting this roll every time! I would add two more things to this list BUT I forgot since these were my moms dishes and we ate here over a month ago, so my ass forgot ahahahahaahahah. Came here for dinner with a friend and his son after our recent trail race last week. My buddy had made reservations in advance so we walked in and were immediately seated without any wait! It was nice, and considering that this is a fairly small but popular local establishment, being seated right away was definitely a blessing. The prices were reasonable as we went during happy hour. They have happy hour from 5-9pm Monday through Saturday. We ordered five rolls and two ice cold Sapporos and our bill was $66, including tax and tip. Wasn't the best sushi I've ever had but it wasn't the worst either. I rank this place somewhere just above the middle of the pack. Bonus: The entire staff was friendly and helpful; and you get a small portion of edamame while you wait. Negative: Parking is limited. We somehow lucked out and got the very last parking spot...and we went when neighboring establishments were already closed. I hate to see why it's like during normal business hours. read more

We met here around 7:30pm, right on time for happy hour! Lucky us! I was surprised to see how little the restaurant is. In the room I was in, there were only about 5 tables and 10 seats at the sushi bar. There was another seating room, but I didn't get to see how big that was. And there were only 2 sushi chefs and 1 server working that night. To be honest, I kind of liked it even though it was small - it made the place very nice and cozy! The best thing here is the menu! It has pictures of literally every roll they serve so it's really easy to choose exactly what you want. They all looked soooo yummy but we narrowed our choice to a select few. This one's similar to what other sushi places would call the "lobster roll" - a baked roll with crab meat, avocado, and baby lobster on top. Yummm! I finally ate there for the 1st time on Friday. We agreed it wasn't a 5 star but over the past 2 days I have been contemplating whether to give it 4 or 3 stars...like my rating matters that much haha. I essentially decided on 4 since it was good service and prices. I think I might have liked the food better if I had chosen other items. #13 halibut roll...underwhelming #57 roll special combo...average (shrimp tempura was the best of the 3 varieties #20 eel roll...surprisingly good...the best of what we had #49 spicy yellowtail was just ok *Sapporo hit the spot after the 10K that we had just finished As I think others have mentioned there is not a lot of parking, we snagged the last spot. The staff are very cheerful. The prices were reasonable with Happy Hour pricing. I love that we were able to make a reservation and there was no wait which is great since this is a small, popular place. Blue crab roll tasted a little fishy but overall good roll and pretty good for $5, and last but not least the poke salad looked great on presentation and it tasted even better! No fishy taste at all the fish actually tasted pretty fresh and the sad was one of the best I've had. No "crab" (aka fake crab) in the poke salad either, which is a BOONUS! All fresh fish! Sushi Boom never fails to please us. We've been eating here since 2017. This review is from tonight's visit. Because of the coronavirus, we picked up our order to take home. Everyone at SB was wearing masks and gloves. The food packed perfectly, cold food in one bag, hot in separate bags. No lapse in quality because of take out. The sashimi was stunningly fresh and of high quality. We cannot get enough fatty yellowtail and salmon belly and SB hits the mark. The rainbow roll, orange hills roll and the baked scallop roll were fresh and delicious. The sushi rice is always so good. We did something different and ordered tempura. We will do this again, soon. Crispy, light and tender. I would prefer a slightly thinner, less sweet ponzu dipping broth, but it was still very good. Something is different here and it's not good. Things seem different here. We only had 2 chopsticks/napkins at our table but had 4 people. We asked for 2 more sets and lady heard us but never brought so we took from another table. Hardly had any ginger dressing on our salads. Very little sauce given with sushi. I asked for 2 salads instead of soup and salad with my meal (came with it) but they put 1 salad in place of rice on my bento plate and never brought me rice. So I asked for rice and they brought it but charged $3 for rice on the bill. Had to get up and ask for water refills during our meal. Weird vibe. read more
