Sushi Boom is SPECTACULAR! I took a visit with my family with not much expectation but we were all blown away. The menu is filled with various options catered toward various taste buds. I recommend the garlic green beans and crispy rice spicy tuna for the appetizers. The halibut carpaccio was my favorite dish. There was a perfect balance of acid, salt, and freshness from the halibut. The nigiri here is all very delicious. The fish is super fresh as it melts in your mouth with a nice, soft chew. The service here is also amazing with the kindest, most welcoming staff. My dad is from Japan and he too acknowledges this sushi restaurant! read more

Sushi Boom has a happy hour special that is from 5:00-9:00 PM for 15% off their sushi, sashimi, and sushi rolls. Maybe because we were super hungry my sister and I wanted to try more of their sushi and sashimi which was roughly around $3-6 each. We ordered about 5 different sushi/sashimi selections from the happy hour menu, an appetizer, and also their special of the day which was the Kuro Dao (black snapper). Many of the sashimi were okay. The tuna was good but their sushi options did taste better. My favorites were the halibut and the scallops which we did get another round of them. Although both the halibut and the scallop were a little bit more on the pricier side of the happy hour menu. The special of the day didn't really standout even though that was the most expensive option we ordered for $13.99. Not worth that price point for the quality. The appetizer we ordered was the blue crab roll with soy paper which did taste good but was a little too cold for some reason. Not sure if the blue crab was meant to taste cold when eaten but I would have thought it would be served at room temperature. The end bill was a little shocking since it came out to around $65 for only a few pieces of sushi/sashimi and we weren't even full. The happy hour pricing makes it seem as if you may be getting a good deal but be careful since you may be ordering more than what you expect to fill your stomach. For that kind of price, I could have gone to AYCE sushi and be able to get almost the same quality and for a better price for dinner. The customer service here is very friendly and attentive to your needs. I just don't think their quality justifies for the price they are charging since I've had better quality sushi elsewhere for a better deal. read more

5 stars aren't enough to rate this place. The crispy rice tuna looks and tastes like it was hand made by God himself. The udon tastes very different from other sushi restaurants which makes this place my favorite. It's not even a chicken place but the chicken is a MUST buy as well! We had lunch here and it was a decent lunch. I had a 12 piece sashimi sampler that was pretty generic. Some of the fish was too cold and, as a result, lacked flavor. There were 5 types in the sampler, nothing special. The salmon was pretty good. The halibut was stringy. My wife had two rolls, both of which she said were "fine". At this point, this was a 3 star review. But then I ordered a special sushi, black Sea bream, that was really excellent. This made me bump it to 4. I love fresh fish and creative, well prepared sushi and sashimi. I don't really do rolls anymore, though that's how I started with sushi. This place is pretty good and I'd try it again if I was in the area. It may be great for this area. I don't know, as I only come here when my wife or I is seeing my doctor. Came here for the first time since moving back to Orange. We came in right before 5...just in time for the Happy Hour!!! We ordered their new Special Roll (can't quite remember what it was called...something Tuna). It was SUPER good...best roll that we ordered. We also ordered the Mango Roll and the Baked roll with spicy tuna. Those were just ok... The restaurant is small, but cozy. The staff provided great customer service. Fortunately for us, we came super early so there were no cars parked outside. However, I can't imagine coming during prime dinner hours since there are only about 8 stalls that service this strip mall. read more

The folks are nice and attentive. The fish is fresh and delicious. The roll options are tasty and varied. And the Nigiri is absolutely buttery. It's melt in your mouth, still drying off from its last swim kind of quality. I'm a big fan of tuna. Especially the yellow-tail and the albacore (I try to avoid the toro for conservation reasons) and theirs is chefs kiss. I will be coming back here again and again. read more

Boom has quickly becoming my go to sushi spot. I find myself coming back for their amazing daily happy hour during dinner time - all combos including rolls, sashimi, beer and sake are 15% off! They also have some great daily lunch specials such 3 rolls for $22 as well as an assortment of combos including sushi rolls, sashimi and hand rolls, but I haven't been here for that just yet. Deals aside they have a great sushi selection of the classic rolls, baked rolls and even the coveted deep fried and baked rolls! Unfortunately I have not been able to try any of the raw sushi and sashimi but everyone I go with has given rave reviews to me while I watch them trying not to salivate on my plate. Ha! What I have noticed is that the serving sizes are large and generously filled with fish. Staff here is attentive and everything is brought out relatively quickly - as soon as the sushi chef whips things up. Each entree includes a serving of edamame as well. My only critique here is that the amount of ginger that they give each patron is relatively small but this is quickly remedied, they are super accommodating and will bring you what you need if you just ask. They also have a small dessert menu that consists ice cream mochi, deep fried tempura ice cream and deep fried oreo tempura ice cream! Yum! A few things to note: - Parking lot is a bit small, but the plaza for the most part shares the lot. - Looks can be deceiving, Boom looks pretty small at first but they have a second adjoining room that can accommodate for larger parties. - They can split the check with up to 4 credit cards. read more

This place, like many other smaller sushi restaurants, are actually owned by Koreans. I know it sounds a little racist but hear me out. Asians are very particular about their foods. Many are foodies like me. I don't eat Pho unless it's served at a Vietnamese Restaurant by Vietnamese. I don't eat Chinese food unless it served at a Chinese Restaurant by Chinese (PF Chang === Gross! PF stands for Peter Flemming. That's right!). Anyway, I digress. I find it strange that restaurants like this or Orange Rolls and Sushi are actually owned and operated by Koreans. I love Korean food, life their tofu but I don't want it served at a Brazilian-owned restaurant. Nothing against Brazilians but that's just wrong! Anyway, the food is good enough. Was greeted as we walked in and seated immediately. Within 2 minutes we were asked about drinks and ordered an appetizer. When that came out about 5 minutes later we ordered dinner. Food was out in less than 10 minutes. Very attentive staff making sure we always had something to drink or if we wanted to order any additional rolls. This might be by far THE BEST hole in the wall sushi place I've been to. I was a weary at first over the few bad reviews but decided what the hell with my boyfriend. The shopping center is super small. It's across from the broken yolk diner. I imagine it would be packed busy at lunch or at prime dinner time. However this was not the case for myself. I arrived to the restaurant 8 pm & was pleasantly surprised at the amount of prime parking spaces and seating in the restaurant. I was expecting the run of the mill Korean owned sushi restaurants but I was delighted that it exceeded my expectations. I ordered plain sushi. I kept it pretty simple with the basics with the scallops being my "crazy" choice. I was delighted at the fish to sushi ratio & was also equally surprised that the freshness of the sushi exceeded my expectations. The fresh sushi was fresh beyond belief and every bite, the supple tender fleshes of the fish were consumed with pleasure. I also ordered the plain udon and enjoyed it thoroughly bcus it was not too spicy had enjoyable amounts of mountain roots inside. The finale? The tempura Oreo dessert. Talk about heaven on a plate. If you do not like sushi and order something else, I hope you enjoy. But please, I implore you to try the tempura Oreo dessert. It is, excuse the language, a screaming orgasm in your mouth.
