Finally got to try Sushi Damu. Here's the rundown: Good * The Leprechaun- interesting veggie with avocado cut roll. Light and tasty. * Comfortable booth seating Ok * Shrimp Tempura - 1st order was nice and large, 2nd order burnt and small * Salmon nigiri - Soft but warm, prefer colder. Weird color, super orange almost artificial looking. * Hand rolls - ok, my salmon roll had some weird plasticky ingredient inside maybe soy paper I hope, seaweed wrap was heated so became stretchy/hard to chew Bad Unagi - too mushy for my taste Takoyaki - burnt, mushy, way too much mayo Long waits between orders No matcha iced tea No dessert menu - not even green tea ice cream which should be a crime. Service was friendly enough. Person who checked us in could be nicer. Long wait to be expected. Felt rushed to leave in the end. No reservations over phone. Fish quality average. Overall for me nothing really stood out above other Ayce places and was just ok. 3 Stars. read more

It has been quite some time since i last visited sushi damu, but i wanted to return so i can try out their new and improved menu/fish quality. I opted for the $45 per person menu since it said it included omakase quality fish and while the quality was pretty good, i wouldn't compare it to omakase. They definitely have improve since the last time i was here, fish was good and service was quick. The stars of the show was the yellowtail and their bluefin tuna. The salmon was pass for me as it just tasted plain. My only real complaint is the rice was awful, it tasted like it was left out or unused for a while. Some pieces of rice felt hard, maybe it was just lacking in a little more sushi rice vinegar. While it was decent, $45 is a bit steep for what they are serving so i dont think i will be returning any time soon especially with soo many other ayce sushi spots in the area now. read more

Sushi is fine. Fish seemed fresh. This is a great place to go if you love unique rolls over sashimi or nigiri. Otherwise, I'd go somewhere else. Wait staff seemed preoccupied at times and did not pay attention to our card being flipped for service. Their ice machine was broken so the soju slushy we ordered was half price ($3). The premium tier lets you go unlimited on that gorgeous, melt-in-your-mouth bluefin tuna - otoro, chutoro, akami - all incredibly fresh, buttery, and fatty in the best way. Really good AYCE prices overall, fast service, and I loved the unlimited rounds so you don't feel pressured to order a bunch of rolls right away. You have 1.5 hours for AYCE, so I'd recommend doing SMALLER ROUNDS to pace yourselves bc you'll have to pay extra for anything you don't finish! Good ambiance as well, neon lights and chill music. Great place for a night out with friends (the bigger the group, the more rolls you get to try) or a very ambitious date :) Here are all the rolls we tried, I ranked from most to least favorite (personal opinion ofc): - Jen Jen: personal favorite. Great bang for your buck, fish- and flavor-wise. (Comes w 3) - Baked Jen Jen: also yummy, smokier flavor, warm roll if you like those. (Comes w 3) - EX BF: lots of filling, good amount of fish on top. Delicious - Honeymoon: fresh, crunchy. The cucumber wrap is good for AYCE to break up the heavier rice based rolls - Jessica albacore: fun, good fish but not a ton of unique flavor (comes w 3) - Spicy ABG: similar to spicy rainbow's filling, I liked the soft flavor of the avocado w the spicy filling - Hot nite: crunchy, nice textures, could've used more filling - cherry bomb: good flavors, salmon and avocado paired well And here's the nigiri we tried (also ranked most to least): - Yellowtail: fresh, fishy, delicious - Ikura: large salmon roe. Think popping boba. Super salty and fun texture, good portion - Salmon: tender classic, flavorful - Tamago: sweet, good break from fish - Octopus: thin slice, but good texture - Bluefin tuna: good size piece, but not much flavor (bit watery tasting) - Masago: tiny roe, very salty We tried the mojito too which was strong and yummy. The service was perfect. I am a fan of Sushi Damu. Workers were so kind and so generous. I regrettably ordered more than I could handle. It was worth the food coma afterwards. I recommend using OpenTable to reserve otherwise since it blew up on TikTok, you'll be waiting in a long line of people taking on the AYCE! The inside was such a vibe, with a great aesthetic. Very Disappointed. I brought my kids here because they wanted to try bluefin tuna, and based on Yelp reviews, we decided to give this place a try. We paid a premium price of $45 per person, expecting a high-quality meal. At first, everything seemed fine, with the first round of bluefin tuna being fresh and tasty. But during our second round the bluefin tuna they served was completely different: a strange color, an odd smell, and a taste that was nothing like the first round. My kids couldn't eat it. When I asked for a manager (the one in the white-collar shirt), she brushed us off, saying it was the same grade of bluefin tuna but different part. Then, the worst part: as we were eating, I found a short hair in one of our sushi rolls. I have long hair, so I know it wasn't from us. This was the last straw. I couldn't continue eating. When we checked our bill, we saw that all they did was add a small -10% discount without even addressing our complaints even though I appreciate our server trying to apologize but the manager didn't even try to return or face us about the issue after. I don't want a 10% discount; I want the business owner to take this issue seriously and fix it. This level of customer service was beyond disappointing, and I won't be returning. To the business owner: please train your staff to handle issues properly and with respect for the customer. read more

The founders and co-owners of Stowaway, Leonard Chan and Dominic Iapello, created this extension to the tiki bar with a wildly interesting Pinocchio theme and the famed encounter with Monstro the whale all the while serving the same offerings in Stowaway but with also an exclusive limited menu just for this adventure. With its proximity to Disneyland and its Enchanted Tiki Room, with the very niche underground-like society of tiki culture they found a consistent customer base and the thrill of island escapism through colorful cocktails, pleasurable pupus, tropical trimmings, and nostalgic know-how. How would my belly handle the beastly drinks concocted here!? PURCHASE(S) Gepetto's Last Words ($16.00): Intrigued by the cocktail's name, this elixir was crafted with Fid Street Gin, tangerine, creme de violette, lemon, and cucumber, it was a citrusy refreshing sweet drink that was decorated with bright yellow petals. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE "Hidden" inside Stowaway which was located within a strip mall, the entire theme was based on the Pinocchio story, the interlude in time spent inside Monstro, and as we entered it felt like the beginning of the Disneyland "Storybook" ride as you road a canal boat into the mouth and sharp teet of a whale. There were several marionettes (appropriate and non-appropriate) that hung from the ceiling and belly walls, along with other Disneyesque memorabilia, a few sitting booths, and a tiny bar at the end of the roo. No natural lighting whatsoever while an assortment of extremely low-lit electric lights and table candles glowed. There were no TVs while I couldn't recall any background music. ATTIRE Although I was actually dressed appropriately for the occasion in an aloha shirt, linen pants, and flip-flops, this place was totally casual, so a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops would suffice. OVERALL Belly Of The Beast was an adventurous fun evening with friends, it left me feeling childlike with the need to watch "Pinocchio", and I couldn't wait to return to try more of their awesome-soundling elixirs. I generally loved all-things Disneyana, and this new wrinkle, albeit probably not approved by the mouse ears brass, caught my fancy. My one drink was tasty but just didn't hit the right spot, the onion rings were very good, the prices were a tad elevated, the atmosphere was awesome, and the service was friendly and professional. They had an extremely limited menu, and there was some doubt whether or not ordering from the Stowaway menu was an option. Plus, I always preferred to support small local mom & pop businesses. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $27.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Mics kept cutting in and out and only half the speakers were actually working. Its sad bc there were some really good singers who were pretty much singing without a working mic. I let the KJ (some old white bald guy with a goatee) know and he had this IDGAF response and didnt do anything. The icing on the cake was me buying drinks and waiting for over an hour to get to my song when I noticed I was passed over for people who signed up after me. I let the KJ know to check and he has me on the bottom of the list like I never moved. I explained how I was waiting over an hour and he began to get defensive and tell me basically he cant trust what I say and doesnt remember me. If dude was doing his job properly this wouldn't happen. How hard is it to go down a signup sheet in order. Its crazy. KJ was also bartending and cleaning tables. I dont know if hes the owner or just carrying many hats but man he sucks. Long story short had to get my peoples to vouch for me and he finally let me sing my 1 song disgruntledly. Man Im never coming back. So many more professional & organized karaoke bars in south OC. Its sad this place is such a disaster for karaoke. The vibe from the patrons are great too. Advice to management/owner: 1. Spend a few hundred bucks and fix your karaoke system. If this was Asian-owned it would have never been an issue because Asians take their karaoke seriously. 2. I was lucky enough to stumble across this gem of the center of OC when they first opened - and I am proud to be a regular here. I don't know how to go somewhere else - because I feel like the staff are giant gems in this jewel of a spot. Winters is a curator of boozy information that has helped me learn about "gin" and "root beer whiskey" so I can sound like an adult-ish purveyor, when really I know close to nothing except being a willing student to his creations. Dan the Man and Jacob always see me raise my hand in the corner of the bar, like the student I am, and have been willing to fill in the blanks for me when I know I am of thirst, but do not have the words for what to order. Every person working in the well has treated me with kindness - they have taken the time to get to know me, and I will be forever appreciative of how they have taken care of me over the years. But the real joy has been the transformation that this spot has for building a community of people in Santa Ana for real recognizing real. I have been bringing my Dad with me to play pool for the past few years. Sometimes people ask me if he plays professionally, I am terrible, and my skill incline is slow, he is patient and plays with the same level craftiness that the staff offer the cocktails. My Dad is always stoked when we have time to go have a few hours of games at 616 - especially now that there are regulars on 4th street that are excited to see that he is there playing - and they rush to write their names on the chalkboard to challenge him - or beat him in a game they really earned the W. On lazy Sundays, I watch couples sit with their drink, listening to Jazz, and watching my Dad whoop my ass while making amazing shots. I am forever grateful to Memo who sometimes takes a break from his shift behind the bar to give my dad an actual challenge - which allows me the chance to watch my Dad enjoy fellowship around the table. Knowing the table was a relic of the bars former self, and knowing the history that this spot has in Santa Ana is a reminder that so much around us can change - but it is those moments of the crack of the rack, the cheer of getting the combo shot, and the shake of hands when it's over that shows that it's not just about the pool table - but about the energy of a place that is welcoming and curated by people who care about what they do - and care about who comes through their doors. Several pieces come in one order so it's perfect for sharing. But my very favorite thing from the menu are the spicy sauce noodles ($12). It gives Din Tai Fung spicy sauce noodles. The dish is simple - noodles are nestled in a Sichuan chili + soy sauce. The noodles are chewy and the sauce combo is slightly spicy with sweet undertones. What I love most about QUA are the seasonal changes to the menu. Obviously they can just stick to what works for them, but the ever evolving menu keeps me coming back. Well, when I eat pancakes, I literally drown them in syrup. I believe they give you two (which I believe most normal people typically use), but I always feel bad having to ask for an extra five or six of them since that's how many I need. It would be great to have a small container of syrup for the table if pancakes/French toast is ordered. Other than that minor thing, it's a great place to eat! The one with the blonde hair? Yeah, major attitude problem. She couldn't seem to find our reservation, despite us being at the top of the list, and proceeded to seat multiple parties before us. We ended up waiting a whopping hour and a half, all the while receiving snooty looks and a distinct lack of hospitality. Seriously, what's the point of having a waitlist if you're going to treat your customers like an inconvenience? And don't even get me started on their new tiered options. I opted for the lowest tier, thinking it would still maintain the quality I've come to expect from Sushi Damu. Boy, was I wrong. The food was subpar at best, and to add insult to injury, it was even more expensive than their previous AYCE option. Talk about a rip-off. Oh, and here's the kicker - apparently, even the service is tiered now. The couple next to us, who had chosen a higher tier, received noticeably better treatment from the waiter. Seriously? Since when did good service become a luxury reserved for the highest bidders? If you do come here, you need to get the highest tiered option for your experience to be worth it. To sum it up: higher prices, lower quality food, no efforts to accommodate more customers, no seating expansion, and now even worse service? Yeah, count me out. **Yelp Review for Sushi Damu** I wish I could give Sushi Damu a better rating, but our recent experience was incredibly disappointing. What should have been a pleasant dinner turned into a nightmare due to the complete lack of care and attention from the staff. While we were dining, a hot soup bowl was accidentally spilled on my wife's foot. Accidents happen, but what shocked us was the way the staff handled (or rather, didn't handle) the situation. No one came to check on us or offer even a basic apology or treatment. We were left to deal with it ourselves while the staff continued to ignore us completely. We had to move to another table on our own, and still, no one offered assistance or even acknowledged what had happened. To make matters worse, the food quality has clearly gone downhill since our last visit. The sushi was far from what it used to be - the fish didn't taste fresh, and the rolls were poorly made and falling apart. The *Spicy Tuna Roll* lacked flavor, and the *Salmon Nigiri* was chewy and not as tender as before. It felt like they were cutting corners both in quality and service. This experience was a major letdown, especially for a place we used to enjoy. The complete disregard for our situation and the lackluster food made this a visit we'd rather forget. We won't be coming back, and I can't recommend Sushi Damu to anyone looking for good sushi and decent service. I had an amazing experience at Sushi Damu! I tried their All-You-Can-Eat Premium Omakase ($60/person), and it was absolutely worth it. The meal started with a fresh seasonal salad, followed by a fresh oyster, a beautiful assortment of premium sashimi, tempura, miso soup, and chef-selected nigiri. Everything was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. The standout for me was definitely the bluefin tuna--it was incredibly fresh, buttery, and served in thick, generous slices. The aka ebi (sweet shrimp) was sweet and melted in my mouth, and the yellowtail belly was rich, tender, and full of flavor. You can really tell they use high-quality fish. The presentation was stunning, making every course feel like a special dining experience. Every plate was beautifully plated and looked like a work of art. The service was excellent--the staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had a wonderful experience throughout the meal. Another bonus is the free parking, which makes dining here even more convenient. The restaurant has a clean, modern atmosphere and is perfect for a date night, special occasion, or gathering with family and friends. One thing to note: the Premium Omakase is available by reservation only, so be sure to reserve your table in advance. For the quality of the fish, the variety, and the overall experience, $60 per person is an outstanding value. I recently had the pleasure of dining at your sushi restaurant, and I must say it was a truly exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the hostess and promptly seated at my table. However, the real standout of the evening was undoubtedly our server, Krishi. Krishi was an absolute delight to be around. She had an infectious smile and an outgoing personality that immediately put me at ease. She took the time to explain the menu to us and make recommendations based on our preferences. Her knowledge of the various fish and flavor combinations was impressive, and she was happy to answer any questions we had. When it came time to order, Krishi was attentive and took great care to ensure our order was accurate and arrived promptly. The sushi was some of the best I've ever had - the fish was incredibly fresh, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. I particularly enjoyed the toro and uni nigiri, which were both outstanding. Throughout the meal, Krishi continued to check in on us, ensuring our drinks were refilled and that we had everything we needed.
