Service is ehh, one of the owners or managers comes in during lunch hours sometimes and is a jerk to the staff, belittles the chefs in front of customers. I won't be back to Sushi Hai. Great atmosphere, horrible service, food and price. The waitress/host was not attentive, ran out of water halfway through dinner, probably because we sat at the table for 1/2 hour before anyone checked on us and then another 1/2 hour to get our order. We only ordered sushi rolls, and bland is putting it kindly, I'd go with tasteless. And the price? Are you kidding me? For 4 tasteless rolls, 2 glasses of water, 0 service and an hour wait on a Saturday afternoon I paid $70. NOT WORTH IT AT ALL AND WILL NEVER GO AGAIN. If I were the type to demand my money back, I would have. Don't bother, there are MUCH better sushi spots in the metro area. read more

Great happy hour here! We come here fortnightly to get our dosage of fish tacos, green lipped mussels and some happy hour libations. The staff is always professional, the food is always delicious and the HH prices make us smile all the way home. They have some great non-sushi food for those who are not keen on sushi. read more

Best sushi we've had in a long time (and I lived in Tokyo for a while). And comparatively cheaper than we expected for such delicious rolls. Had a quiet spot upstairs where the waiter pretty much left us alone, but was right there whenever we needed anything (which is the type of service we prefer). They were also great about helping us out with our food allergy (soy, if you can believe it). We would definitely go back if we lived around here, but will recommend this to all of our denver friends. read more

I have been to Sushi Hai multiple times and it never disappoints. My most recent dining experience was exceptional. We had a large party and we asked Chef Luis to prepare rolls for us based on the food preferences of the group. We were blown away with the creativity and quality of the food. This place is okay. It's overpriced for the quality of the sushi and the customer service is awful. The last time I was in I was picking up a takeout order. After arriving 25 minutes after placing the order we still had to wait another 15. We were using a gift card and after we handed it to the server he came back and said that they were actually transitioning systems and that they couldn't process gift cards. He said they accepted cash or credit and we had no other option. Definitely should've told us this ahead of time because we were not looking for a pricey meal that night. I've always had good sushi when I go here. Some rolls are better than others. My last time here, the rolls didn't taste as fresh as they normally do, but they were still pretty good. I really like the atmosphere in the downstairs and lounge areas. Also, I don't think the prices are outrageous. It's pretty affordable. read more

We have been here several times every time we go the food is okay the service keeps getting worse. They have the capacity to serve quite a few individuals I'm just wondering if the understaffed for the amount of business that they do. We were seated right away and our waiter came over and took her order the food came out relatively fast however they kept forgetting parts of her order no one ever refreshed our drinks or check on our table to see if we would like to order anything else. And last night wasn't even busy. This is strike two strike one more and we won't return. Sad thing is we've been going here for years. On multiple occasions I have felt rushed and as if my table was an inconvenienc to our server. Last night my table of more than ten people felt rushed and unattended to. I have never wrote a review on yelp in the two plus years since I've had this app, but last night our service was so bad at this restaurant I decided to write my first review. First of all, our waiter bungled our order several different times. Then, when our sushi came out it looked like it had been rushed so much that it was falling apart. But to top it off, when we split our check, two of us in our party were charged for the full amount of the bill. And when I contacted the restaurant today to settle this, they said they would call back so that they could fix this problem but they never did, and when I called back again, they told me they were too busy to deal with my problem, never mind that my account only has six dollars in it now. We'll see if they call back this time. There are so many good sushi restaurants in the Denver area. Don't waste your time, or your money, on this place. read more

I had been aware of this place for awhile, but with several good sushi joints in Lakewood, there's not many reasons to travel further. The room is very nice. We got seated downstairs. Our server (who's name I didn't get or don't recall) was very pleasant and efficient. She gave a free sample of some tasty tequila! I ordered my sushi and my partner had a steak. The food was excellent. Sushi was a bit pricey, but it's not a cheap food as we know. There was some confusion with my groupon. To make a long story short, our server honored the full amount even though it apparently expired the day before! Very nice experience for my birthday. Highly recommended. read more

Sushi Hai has lost a step. From this time we got seated, our group of three noticed several problems. Starting with the quality of service, our server was slow in getting our drinks out. We ordered 3 beers 2 came. The 2nd didn't come right away. The sushi order was turned in 5 minutes into the night. We noticed at that time that the restaurant was 1/2 full. After 30 minutes when our appetizer wasn't being delivered I knew that something was wrong. At that point, I have the feeling the App wasn't keyed in. Fast forward to 1 hour into the session, no food! I had to ask for the app at that time and noticed our server keying it in. I looked over into the Sushi prep area and the Chefs we not working hard a few plates were being delivered to the tables in the time of that hour (no more than a 100 pieces in the front of the house). The chef closest to us had no clue how to make Sushi. 15 minutes later we walked. I paid cash to cover our bill to that point and a little for the server. I was chased down the street by the server as he was trying to save the dinner. He did the best he could, dealing with the fact that there was no oversight in the restaurant. Our Sushi was magically ready and he offered 1/2 price to go back in. Sorry, the evening was already ruined for me. I work in the industry as a vendor to several restaurants and because a manager wasn't present onsite to make sure fresh fish was being expo'd correctly set off several bells for me including not being addressed once the server lost control of the tables. If this is how management treats customer service without regard for who pays their bills then I cannot imagine what else going here. Denver has several top end Sushi restaurants and Sushi is executed dramatically different in those establishments. Management please take note, your are a 2nd class restaurant and my expectations are not for the best fish in Denver but I expect at the very least that an appetizer is delivered within 15 minutes of ordering and that selective flights of sushi begin to follow at a staggered rate. I am sure the food is good, but my money comes with expectations and Sushi Hai has failed in the customer service department. I will not be going back until the staff is either trained up and the sushi chefs learn some basic knife skills. This is a observation on the management. read more

I've been twice and won't return. Everything tastes the same: octopus, crab, salmon, tuna - all somehow had the same vague, weak flavor. We ordered a salmon and crab ceviche appetizer that was $15 for a mediocre 2 oz. It's an appetizer, but it didn't come until well after the sushi was delivered. The server was incredibly friendly, but the food isn't up to snuff. I'd hate to spend more money here. read more

Sushi Hai is my favorite sushi restaurant by far! My boyfriend and I had a tradition of trying a different sushi place every month about a year ago and we found that wherever we ate, whether it was sushi sasa or sushi den, the food and prices were better at sushi hai. The calamari is by far the best calamari I have ever had anywhere! Order it! If you can, sit at the sushi bar so that you can talk to chefs who will keep you very entertained and are very attentive if you need anything! Also, the chefs are extremely skilled and creative and some of the best sushi comes out when you ask for the chef to make you something special. This is the only place I will eat sushi in Colorado! read more

We went to try Sushi Hai after I had heard my friend rave about it over and over again. I saw a Living Social deal and thought we would try it. The food was SO good and the presentation was beautiful. Our server Sheena took us on a little tour of the restaurant after we finished our dinner and our mochi ice cream was getting prepared. A great experience! Great service from our server Cori. She instantly made you feel welcome and appreciated.... also the Host was a delight! The flavors and presentation were very nice. The menu was also a nice variety of choices. After dinner Cori gave us a tour and it was surprising how much goes on every week and how large the place is and arranged in compartments that made it cozy instead of just a huge barn. I seem to see complaints from Groupon users and I will tell you that I have dealt with Groupon on a professional level and they can really suck about proper info....That is at least one reason I choose not do business with them. I also find that most people who purchase Groupon are shopping price, not value, and are rarely repeat customers without a coupon of some kind because they cannot afford it in the first place and are usually the most unqualified critics! I will be a repeat customer....without a Groupon...and I will always request Cori as my server. She is a true spirit and was totally honest with the Q&A. We also discussed with her the reviews out of concern because our experience was so great. She explained that there is also a new owner just in the past few months and that things have been much more positive since. I would encourage anyone with a different experience than ours to please give them another chance. They will certainly see me again! read more

Can't say enough positive things about this place. Where to start? Location is awesome - great neighborhood to try if you're thinking Cherry Creek or Lodo are played out (which they are). Food is quite delicious and a fraction of the cost of over-priced places like Matsuhisa and Sushi Den. The menu is large and diverse enough to even give your sushi-hating friend from Ohio some alternatives. Service I've never had one complaint with. Recommendation: ask for Seif ("Safe") to be your waiter. He's the best in town. See if he'll spill the beans on info about his custom sushi roll that's not on the menu or test his drink knowledge if you're having trouble coming up with a cocktail choice. Entertainment? A sushi restaurant that doubles as a nightclub with some of the best underground DJ guests in the world? Yes please. This is no STK where they play cheesy dance remixes for the cougars while their dates stuff themselves with steaks. Hai is is my favorite spot for sure. Eat dinner with friends, then go through the basement door over to the other side - Hai Bar - where's there's even more seating for late-night dining, a bar and an intimate dancefloor with a quality sound system. If you like deep house, this is the place to go. I recommend a reservation but even on weekends, there's still a good chance to walk-in and be seated in case you forgot to call. 5 STARS! read more

Maybe this is the place to go during the week but definitely not the weekend...nor if you have a party over 4!! There were 14 of us...split into three tabs by the waitress. My friend and I ordered a California roll, Philadelphia roll, and spicy tuna roll. In addition we had two drinks each...vodka tonic and stella. It took only a few minutes for our first drink then 10 minutes for our second drink, we waited almost an hour for our order. When our order came it was mixed in with the other two orders (what's the point of splitting the tabs and tables if they were going to get mixed. Not only did my friend and I get to share 1 California roll, we got two pieces each of the spicy tuna and 1 piece each of the Philly roll! When asked how they were going to correct the error, they simply said that the cooks saw one table number for all three orders and mixed it up! We paid over $40 each for one roll each and two drinks!!!! REALLY! The best she could do was discount each of our tabs...but alas...there were items on our tab that weren't even a part of our table! If you can't handle large groups...go to Denny's they'll teach your company a few things about larger orders and multiple tabs! Seriously! read more

So I have never written a review, let alone a poor one, but the service I recieved was so horrendous that I had to. I was teling some co-workers about what happened and they suggested Yelp. I visited Sushi Hai a couple saturdays ago and recieved the worst service EVER!! We sat in the bar section (an add on to the restaurant), with a party of about 10. It was a close friend of mines' birthday and we went in for dinner and drinks. Our waitress was a blond, with an outfit on she should have not been wearing. I understand cleavage in a bar setting but not fat rolls. Ugh! She had an attitude from the start. We had been sitting there forever before I went to thebar and got some drinks and asked the bartender if he could send over our server. We were already finished with our drinks by the time she came over. I was shocked it was her because she had been sitting with a table of guys right next to us the whole time we we're waiting. Then she sees we have drinks and says if we want to sit in that section we need to order drinks from her. When I told her We'd been waiting, she said in a round about way said I've been sitting here the whole time and that we hadn't been there that long???? I couldn't believe this servers nasty attitude. So she goes to get our drinks and I tell her we need menus cause we are all going to eat. She comes back with a messed up drink order and no menus. She drops our drinks and then goes back to the table of guys where she precedes to sneak shots???!!! I went to another waitress, a dark hair girl who's been there awhile and is always fantastic, who finally gave us menus. We order enough for the ten of us, and I ask our server how long she thinks it will be because now we have been sitting there forever. She pretty much tells us that the place is a busy bar and next time we should eat in the restaurant. Why have a sushi bar and tables for big parties? Let's see what else..... Oh at one point a girl from our party was in the bathroom, and heard a girl on her cell phone telling the person she was talking to "Ha ha I'm taking a s#$@ while talking to you". Of course it was or server, who then came out checked her makeup and returned to work without washing her hands! By then we were playing pool, and after she told us we looked through the little window that shows the server staion and she was eating with her hands. We were all so repulsed that by the time the food came we had no appetite!! Over one hundred and fifty dollars in food and none of us wanted any. She continues to just suck the rest of our time. When my boyfriend asked to speak to her manager, she told us it'd be awhile cause he was behind the bar. I will NEVER return. i don't think anyone in our party would. If I was an owner I would get rid of this girl as fast as possible. She has no respect for herself or her job. She ruined my friend's dinner. She should stay as far away from customers as possible!
