Looking for sushi in Mc Henry? This is a great spot. I was skeptical about the AYCE worried that it would be a buffet of sketchy rice balls but this was exactly the opposite. You sit down to be greeted by pleasant staff and a menu where you choose what you want as many times as you want. BEWARE.....I wish I knew that they would charge us for what we didn't eat. This location never have items from their menu available. I have tried multiple times to order uni yet after ordering only then do they call to tell me that they do not have it. The lady on the phone was surprised that I wanted to cancel my entire order and makes it so complicated to cancel. I have multiple sushi places by us yet we travel far to order the uni. Twice already. Everytime our order is around $80-100. Should just cross off the uni off the menu or put maybe sometimes in weekends. We went on a weekend and they said that they don't have it after taking our order in store. We also tried their online ordering and ordered the uni again. That's when the restaurant called and said they don't have it after we left the house. We wanted to cancel but she kept asking why and I kept telling her that we wanted uni that's why we're traveling so far. Never again. Thought the food was decent but the menu is a lie. For the price you can't beat the dinner and lunch all you can eat special. I have no clue what any of the stuff is or how to re order it but, it's okay. The sushi tastes great and I get greeted kindly every time I go there which is on average 3-4 times every 2 months. read more

The sushi was great but the service was terrible. The server was the worst I've ever had. She was constantly rushing us. Kept asking if we were done with the All You Can Eat. It was super annoying and you couldn't understand her for shit. When asking for another order sheet she took the order tray and slammed it on the counter in frustration of us ordering another roll after a few rounds. She did not bring any change back from my friends bill when he paid more than due. She didn't smile at all and looked suicidal. Clearly hates white people. read more

Too bad I don't live close enough to go here every day, but definitely the best sushi place. Love the taste, design, and service. Very nicely done interior. I came here for lunch. Had a yellowfin roll and spicy tuna roll. Both were good.. Seems like this place is trying to find it's groove and I think they are well on their way. Definitely worth a visit. read more

We stopped in for lunch on a weekday. First of all, the place really takes you by surprise when you walk in. Decorated very well and is very comfortable. Service was very good and the food was outstanding. They have an "All You Can Eat" menu for $15.99, and we both opted to give that a try. The menu had many options for Rolls and Nigiri and included Miso soup and a garden salad. Everything we had was great. They're deep fried crab roll was so good that when I went to order my third roll I had the same one again. Great place! read more

Always a great experience. The host/hostess are very friendly and recognize us when we come in. The atmosphere is pleasant and the food is always fresh and tasty. The all you can eat is an awesome deal...you couldn't do better. I think some of the reviews where the staff has been called rude is more a language barrier then anything and I have never had a bad experience there. Like all places they have slow and busy times. They make everything fresh so sometimes there is a wait when they are busy. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a sushi fix! read more

Where do I start. Terrible service. Hardly anyone in the place and still had to wait 20 mins to get an order and another 20 mins for terrible sushi. I was forced to get 3 warm tuna rolls due to the $20 all you can eat. One sushi roll had something hard and weird in it. The server stated it came from an avocado pit yet we did not receive any discount or any thing like that. I can get better sushi at Jewel. read more

Went here for the all you can eat. Lunch was $15.95 per person, decent price but I've seen better at other places. Sushi was fresh and decently sized. Fish and rice had similar temperatures which is always a plus for me when I consume sushi. The only thing that was odd was that on their menu for all you can eat, one of the options was tamago, or egg. The first time I ordered it, I got salmon roe. So I tried ordering it again and asked the waitress if its egg, and she said yes. Ordered it again. got the same salty roe. Hmm. read more

I eat here regularly, great value, made to order sushi. All you care to eat but you pay extra for anything you leave. The problem is the service, the waitresses always seem so unhappy, never smiling and always depressed. I'm fairly sure most of the raw fish has been previously frozen which is expected due to the proximity to the nearest ocean! It is always very good and I've never had a piece of sushi here that tasted bad or off. Just wish the servers weren't so miserable. If the owners made any mistake whatsoever, it was in picking their location. Beyond the dreadful exterior mall, the interior of the restaurant is beautiful. More importantly, the service is spectacular and the fish is great. Unlike some other local places, the sushi is consistently good. As for price, it's really reasonable. This is one of the best sushi places ive been to. We usually go here once a week and sometimes more! The service is really the best out of all the sushi places ive been. The waitresses have been known to bring my little daughter over to pond/waterfall to feed the fish and throw coins. It's really sweet and it gives us a tiny break. The food is tasty! Get the all you can eat for like 18-19 bucks. I love the angel roll, the mountain roll, the popup roll for rolls and for sushi peices i love tuna, yellowtail, salmon and eel. So i hope you all try this place! And im so happy we finally have a great place like this close to home! read more

I ordered the 20 dollar all you can eat sushi deal and at first glance was like wow what a steal! I was not informed however that for each roll you do not eat you must pay a dollar on top of the 20 dollar cost for the all you can eat sushi itself. On top of that you can't even get an assortment of sushi, you have to get the number it says on the sheet, so like 8 to 5 of the same roll, so if you didn't like a roll you got you would have to pay 8 dollars on top of the 20 if you got one of the rolls that have 8. The service was not excellent and on top of the ludicrous amount of money I was forced to spend the sushi was very mediocre. I will not go back again. read more

Food is good and service is not bad. Place is nice. Only complaint is they watch you eat and make sure you don't share your buffet with others at the table. They also make you pay for any left over sushi you don't eat when you order the buffet. read more

This is the best sushi place in McHenry. Have gone there at least 10 times and NEVER had a bad experience. Sushi is fresh, presentation is very good, prices are great for AYCE. If you order AYCE you have a responsibility to eat what you order, or pay extra. its never a problem for us as we order small amounts many times. Not worth the $$$. Updated decor but food was tasteless, everything tasted the same. My crab was fishy and tasted like store bought imitation brand. When my husband started to ask a question about sushi roll the waitress put there "all you eat "paper menu in front of us and said all you eat includes appetizer and walked away.....nothing else was said even though she never answered my husbands question. If you don't eat everything you order they charge you .50 per piece which isn't a big deal but no where on the menu was it advertised. Waitress announced I was going to be charged 5.00 more for pieces I didn't eat then asked if we wanted it to go after I said I did not like the monkey roll. We've been eating at Sushi King since it opened and have always liked the food. The service is hit or miss, depending on who's working. Problem is- the last 3 times we've gone there for the AYCE sushi, the roll that I ordered is not what I got. I let it go twice, because what they gave me was good and the server did not speak enough English to try and explain. We were just there Sunday for AYCE lunch and again they served me the wrong thing. When I called the server back and told her, she tried to argue it with me. Really? I pointed out what I should have gotten and no way was the roll on my plate even close. She kept insisting, so I let it go and my husband wound up eating it, since it was not something I liked or would have ever ordered. They knew we were mad so at least they didn't charge us for the left over rolls he couldn't finish from his own meal. I'm sorry but we won't be back. I get that mistakes happen but I don't need to have the server argue with me when clearly they gave me the wrong thing. Again. They need to pay closer attention to the orders and teach their servers some customer service. read more

This used to be my favorite place but I'll never go there again. For one thing, if you pay in cash and the amount is only slightly more than the bill, they will just assume it's their tip and won't bring back any change. Not cool. But the real reason for me not going back is one waitress there who is also an owner and is extremely unpleasant every time I go there, which is completely unacceptable especially considering I was a very regular customer. Then, last night I tried to use a coupon from their website that didn't expire until September and she told me I couldn't use it! I finally got her to accept it after about five minutes of back and forth. Then, to make the situation worse, she proceeded to immediately go yell loudly at one of her employees in Japanese. Right in front of all of the customers! That was the last straw for me. Sure the all you can eat is a great deal but the business is extremely unprofessional and if you end up with the one owner, you're not going to have a pleasant experience. The food was great...very well done. I'm disappointed that as a first time customer the rules were not explained to me. My son and I had the all you can eat $15.99 lunch. We order a couple of rolls to begin with and then order again. Needless to say my eyes were bigger then my stomach. When the wait staff came to take away our plates they informed us of the "Resturant policy"...$.75 per left over piece!! The wait staff that sat us told us nothing about the policy. They had very thick accents and did not speak very clearly. I asked why no one had shared the "policy", this was our first time in the Resturant ever??? They then said they would not charge us, but then came back and said the manager was not here so if they didn't charge me it would come out of their check. I paid and tipped the staff, then asked that the manager call me. When I spoke with the manager the customer service was no better. In very broken English she kept repeating the "policy". We won't eat there again. Customer service is important. read more
