10/10!! Love this place. It's always a go to when I don't know where to go. I always recommend bringing new friends or family here because it never misses. We always get the New York New York, Beach Boy, Girl on the Beach, Refreshing Roll, Octopus Carpaccio, and Four Corners. The service here is good. It gets really busy so sometime the waitresses will take a couple minutes getting your order but it's ok. When it gets really packed it does get a little loud but it is a small spot anyways. We got miso soup, pork gyoza, 3 companies roll, rainbow roll, and the assorted sushi platter. The miso soup was REALLY seaweedy and the pork gyoza kinda didn't have a lot of flavor. The 3 companies roll was alright although I didn't really know what was going on with that sauce. The rainbow roll was good but I just wish there was more fish on top! Thought I get a little snack before I go shopping. This restaurant was nice a great deal of cool open seating on a warm day. Indoor seating is available but I elected to eat outside. The server noticed right away I was at the door and I motioned her I prefer outdoor seating. Nice comfortable long bench as well as additional seating with umbrellas just around the other end of the building. I picked the crunchy toll as I wanted just a little snack. Very okay sushi, in a prime location on Second Street. The menu includes an extensive selection of specialty rolls, as well as classic nigiri and hand/cut rolls. They serve beer and wine, and have a decent sake list. There are many rolls with spicy elements, hence "Sushi On Fire". We placed an order for delivery via UberEats, which arrived promptly, and carefully packaged. The star of our meal was the Lobster Roll. Wrapped in soy paper, it contained big, juicy chunks of baked lobster, complimented by cucumber and avocado. Definitely order this. The California Roll was pedestrian, tasting mainly of kewpie mayo. I had a variety of nigiri (Salmon Egg, Crab Salad, and Masago) as well, all of which were fine, but low quality. The rice tasted slightly stale, but this could be due to it being a delivery order. This is my favorite sushi place on 2nd Street in Long Beach. They have a great variety of rolls and have excellent service. Every roll on the menu had a picture next to it, which I think every sushi place should do. They even brought us complimentary miso soup. We ordered the gyoza and three rolls: the Hercules, Refreshing, and OMG roll. All of which were really delicious. I did not know what to expect as it was a modern place. The style is different too as it is not traditional Japanese, and I think it is owned by Vietnamese people. Service here was very nice and friendly. I ordered chirashi. It was definitely a different variation from any chirashi I have had and tasted Southeast Asian. It was not really for me. When the server acting as a "timekeeper" approaches our table several times very shortly after you get your meal with an iPad and is lurking around counting tables (and there were several empty) , then followed immediately by a server placing the payment device on the table while saying "when you're ready..." I am immediately taken aback. When she placed it down I said "we are not ready, we will be getting more" We had a full edamame plate, as well as 2 plates of rolls that weren't even halfway gone still on the table. We were mid meal, enjoying conversation on a Saturday night and felt extremely rushed by the lurking servers always pressuring us to hurry. With menu in hand reviewing, we were asked "anything else?" Finally out of frustration I said " We will but we will let you know when we are ready, no need to keep checking" Not sure what kind of etiquette servers are taught these days, but last time that I checked a meal with friends is supposed to be a pleasurable and unrushed experience. You know when the food is okay and the service is so terrible that it leaves a bad taste in your mouth? It says that they close at 10pm. We arrived at 9pm with the intent to grab a quick bite. As soon as we walked in, the whole staff was irritated. It was only 9pm! We were told that it was "last call" which we were completely okay with. But by 9:15 we got the bill and asked if we were ready to pay! Hahaha If you don't want people to come one hour before the time your business states it closes, then lock the doors. I eat sushi all the time. Locally, in Long Beach, I've bounced around various places but the one sushi place that stands out above all IMO is Sushi on Fire. They have cool creations you won't find elsewhere. If you're looking for straight fish - sashimi - it might not be as good as Koi or some of those places that specialize in that. But if you like regular rolls - go here. One of the reasons I love it is they have more LOW CARB options meaning - all 3 of my regular rolls don't have rice. They are wrapped in either fish or soy paper. Second, they have sauces (not all places do): The miso sauce, eel sauce, chili oil... I LOVE that (I've tried to duplicate it at home when I buy Tuna Poke at Gelson's). It's marvelous! And not every sushi place has that option. Everyone I've brought here has fallen in love and left their "current" sushi place to come here. Try it! I hope you like it as much as I do. I've attached some pics below. read more

Last minute dinner plans. First time in here. Staff wears mask , tables are close by and no dividers between tables. Requested for straw and never got it. At the last call I asked for Veggie roll the waitress said she is new and does not know if they have. She went inside to check in and never came back. Does not look like they get back to customers . My all time favorite sushi spot! I used to live in Huntington Beach, and frequented the original Sushi on Fire on Main Street. This one definitely maintains the same standard of quality and freshness in their food. All the food I've had has been great, but my favorites are the tuna carpaccio, scorpion, and refreshing roll. All so tasty! I'm very picky about my seafood and this is the freshest sushi I've ever tasted. Lots of jalapeño, avocado, and sauces.
