Delicious and fresh tasting sushi is what this place. I came here with my brother a couple of weeks back, and due to COVID we were not able to sit inside, luckily they had outdoor seating. The wait was not that long, we were seated in about 20 mins or so, and it was a weekend so that was a good sign. The server was really nice, and we got our food in a decent amount of time. They did not have a very large variety of beers, but that was okay, the one that I ended up drinking was pretty well paired with the sushi rolls that we had ordered. 10/10 of service, food and overall how the staff was dealing with the crowd and us. Cousin and I decided to pop in here since it got referred to us by a friend. This place did not disappoint. All the fish was definitely of quality and tasted very fresh. The rolls actually had pretty unique combinations and unique names to boot. Even the miso soup itself was delicious, and a great cap. As for the staff, everyone was very kind and attentive. It seems they might have still been working on limited staffing because those people were hustling. Even so, they made the experience great. read more

We have been coming to this restaurant for many years. So I'll get to the point and try to answer questions one might have during these times. When you arrive, if it's busy make sure you write your name on the wait list. Food: The sushi and menu have been consistent. My favorites are the hello kitty hand roll and threes company roll. The sushi taste fresh and the sauces have flavor. Outdoor seating area: They have about 4-5 tables on Pomona Street. The have about 4 tables that seat 2 people on the 2nd street side. Ordered a magic roll, it was topped with fried shrimp that was very rubbery, flavor was good. We also ordered the chicken teriyaki and the chicken was so dry and chewy, I asked for a discount, they did not charge me for it, which was very nice of them and the reason I gave 3 stars. Servers do not check on you frequently enough, but they were pleasant. The establishment is small, so it gets very crowded, can be a little overwhelming. Not sure if I will give it a second try. read more

Yum yum! This is one of the best restaurants I've tried in 2nd street, I don't have to drive further because there's one good place near me and it's called Sushi on Fire. We enjoyed our orders here. We had the HB Sun (no rice sushi), BSC roll, Tuna Carpaccio with fresh onions on top, and the kids meal Beef teriyaki that comes with a vanilla icecream. It satisfied our cravings! Such a great sushi place! I've had SO many of their rolls, so I can't recommend a specific one as they're all incredible. The shishito peppers are the best I've had anywhere. I also love their salad dressing! Everything is so fresh. Great wine and sake selection. Amazing service and such kind people! This was my first time ordering sushi from Sushi on fire. Because of Covid I was unable to dine in the restaurant but was very happy with the food quality and how amazing it still looked! I loved how many amazing variations they had of sushi rolls. I made sure to try a roll with soy paper, cucumber wrapping , and traditional seaweed! Everything tasted so good. It's been awhile since my last visit to Sushi on Fire on 2nd Street Long Beach. I ordered the hello kitty roll and a Rainbow roll, however with just Tuna on top. Getting home I opened the container to my disappointment. Not the quality I was use to from this Sushi restaurant or the cost. The Tuna was cut paper thin and the quality of Tuna was very poor. The Hello Kitty roll was not as good as I remembered. Maybe a off day, maybe quality of fish was bad. Maybe I should never go back and try another Sushi restaurant. I do not recommend Sushi on Fire. One star because I had to! read more

Customer service was exceptional. You also get a miso bowl and (unsqueezed lemon in a) ice drink when you sit down. The rolls were filling and pretty good. The smoky rolls(?) tasted a bit like liquid smoke product or something, but other than that this id not a bad spot for hanging out. read more

I was shocked people are voting this place to be number 1 sushi in Long Beach...miso soup was good although I couldn't say that about anything else we ordered sashimi, sushi combo, and speciality roll sushi on fire. Nothing here was fire! They were nice, however flies everywhere wasabi and ginger trays prepped not cover sitting ready to be served to patrons outside the bathroom door. We just moved to Long Beach from Las Vegas and this is the best sushi in the area. Hands down my favorite. The refreshing roll is my go to and I always get a California roll. You can tell everything you need to know about a sushi place by the California roll. It's my standard roll. Seriously, go try this place. You won't regret it. This sushi place is all about flavor, texture and firey food. Love the concept of all spicy sushi roll, and they have some very creative concoctions. It's an elevated version of what the sushi bar would look like in a Mexican City. If you like spicy foods, and sushi, you will love this place. Yummmy. This sushi place is pretty good. I ordered the yutta sushi roll which has no rice and is wrapped up with cucumber. I really liked it because it is pretty healthy but has all the raw fish in it. It has tuna salmon yellowtail avocado and maybe one more fish. The edamame is also rest good and they give you a generous portion. read more

Sushi on Fire is a phenomenal sushi joint located on 2nd street. This one is identical to the SoF restaurant in Huntington Beach. It's not an AYCE restaurant so if you're looking for an AYCE sushi joint, this is not the place for you. Also parking is quite difficult because its all street parking however it's definitely worth a trip out here if you want unique rolls. Their menu is extensive and has elaborate rolls. I tried two of their rolls and they were delicious. The Refreshing roll and the Sushi on Fire roll were great. I don't think you could go wrong with anything on their menu. read more

We ordered quite a bit: spicy Pad Thai, Bang Bang Shrimp, Pad See Ew, mango sticky rice, and of course the Thai tea with the popsicle. I'll give credit where it's due. The Bang Bang Shrimp was easily the best thing we ordered and was absolutely delicious. The Thai tea popsicle also lived up to the TikTok hype, although the actual Thai tea itself was on the sweeter side. If you love sugar, you'll probably enjoy it. My biggest complaint with the food was the spicy Pad Thai. The flavor was great, but it came with what felt like a whole chicken farm and a cameo appearance from the noodles. I ordered Pad Thai, not chicken with noodle garnish. The Pad See Ew was also noticeably salty. Now you're probably wondering why I'm giving this place a low rating if most of the food was decent. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the meal. When it was time to pay, my aunt was figuring out how much everyone needed to Zelle her since the restaurant only allows a maximum of two cards for split payments. While we were trying to do the math, our waiter stood over us watching the payment screen like he was supervising a final exam. He was clearly waiting to make sure a tip was entered. My aunt politely asked him to give us a minute, and thankfully he walked away. Maybe when you see a family actively calculating a bill, that's your cue to...actually give them a minute. Keep in mind we also tipped 20% despite all this. Throughout the meal, he did stop by our table, but it rarely felt like he was checking in to make sure everything was okay. If anything I felt rushed. He also gave off that "customer service smile" that disappears the moment you stop looking. The cherry on top for me happened as we were leaving. We had been sitting on the outdoor patio talking for a bit after paying, which is pretty normal for my family. Before leaving, I went inside to ask where the restroom was. The guy and girl behind the bar looked at each other, laughed, and then asked if I was a paying customer. Keep in mind, I was literally holding a to-go bag with leftovers from the restaurant. I responded, "Yeah, I just finished eating," while holding up the bag that made it painfully obvious. Only then did they tell me where the restroom was. Nothing says "valued customer" quite like being interrogated about whether you actually ate there while carrying your leftovers. It's unfortunate because the food had some highlights, and the restaurant itself has a cute atmosphere. But the service made it feel like customers are viewed more as transactions than guests. Between hovering over us during payment and questioning whether I even belonged there after spending money, I left feeling more unwelcomed than satisfied. I'll happily support a restaurant that appreciates my business instead of making me feel like I have to prove I earned the right to use the restroom after paying for dinner.

This location used to be a bbq restaurant- shady grove- before they closed down. And wow I was so impressed by the change of the patio vibe. It looked way nicer now under Due Fuori. I truly believe the vibe of a restaurant is equally important to the quality of the food, and this place nailed it. Also, apparently you can still order more stuff even after you're seated. They don't really have dedicated server for each table but the service was pretty efficient in my opinion. Now the food, everything was delicious, I have no notes! Caesar salad, very good. Second time dinner with friends, wanted to make sure we we rent rushed, so ordered only appetizers, wasn't received with a smile but was OK ;)) had calamari, really soft, fried tempera and again the egg rolls, all rally fresh and tasty. The Philly Roll and Crunch Roll are my favorite! Friday nights are crazy busy and you could be left waiting for a table for about an hour. We got free sake when we were there and the owner is some eccentric but nice asian lady. The only thing that needs a little work is the service on check-out. It took forever for our server to give us our bill! There is no reason why we should be waiting 15-20 minutes for the bill especially since we asked 2 times for our check. I am a regular at the HB location. I was visiting my friend in Long Beach and had a craving for sushi, thought we would give this place a try. The sushi is just as good as the one in HB however, the service ... not so much. Our waitress made my friend and I feel rushed. They were pretty busy but didnt see what the need to rush a party of two was for. I do have to say this location is much more upbeat and faced paced compared to the HB location.
