Found this spot on yelp and had 4 stars with a ton of reviews. So we decided to try it since it was close to GSR hotel. Service was nice and on point, even with only 1 server for the whole place. She was fast and observant of everyone in here. Food comes out a little slower due to 2 sushi chefs but that's understandable since it is lunch time. We ordered just enough before we start falling asleep from the all you can eat coma. The rolls here are bigger than most places and the pieces are fat. We ordered sake, Marylyn, but my favorite was the upside down crab and shrimp were the bomb. The place is a little small so don't blink or you will miss it. It's right next to the Cisco shopping center and a massage spot. We will definitely be back next time we are in town. Great place and great food for the price!!!! read more

Small restaurant that has all you can eat sushi for $17.95. The first three pages of the sushi menu is all you can eat. It was really good deep fried sushi and cooked rolls. Miso soup was on point, along with the pot sticker appetizers. Good service from the waitress always made sure our drinks are filled. The sushi didn't take long to come out for us. This is my 2nd time come here for their all you can eat lunch. The 1st time is about one year ago. It was very good. But this time the food and service is not the same! They have two waitresses working here now. But seems both waitresses doesn't really focus on the job. They mix up the orders. Bring food to the wrong table. Slow service too! The food is also not as good as one year ago! The fish taste flat. But still fresh. The worst part is the rice. We're there for hour and half due to the slow service. For the whole hour and half. Rice in the sushi and hand rolls is under cooked. It is very dry, some hard pieces of rice mixed in the sushi make it almost not enjoyable! I don't think I will come back again! read more

I really liked the other location better because it was better service and better sushi in my opinion. The host was a ditz and just seemed lost. The other thing is the edamame and cucumber salad isn't part of the AYCE...... everywhere else they give it to you as part of the AYCE. Sushi was just ok nothing special. Came in at 530pm to enjoy all you can eat and sat at a table while catching up with a good friend while she was in town. We gave the girls our orders at maybe 540 or so which was a mixture of nigiri, hand rolls, and a couple long rolls with a couple appetizers. 3 wrong orders (potstickers, miso soup, random other sushi order) later, we left at 620 never having seen a single piece of sushi we requested. I would also like to point out that we sat for about an hour and saw one order of potstickers, two soups, and a couple handrolls incorrectly come by. Seriously? I have come to this location going on 5 years, my picture is in at least 2 of their anniversary collages, and I'm so upset with my abysmal service that I will never come back again. The chefs at the bar are all very attentive and talented, but the girls they hire to help the tables and run the floor have been getting worse, and this last experience has ruined my love of this location. I've been coming here off and on for the last 10 years or more and this place is not what it was when I first started bringing my family and friends here. This place lacks consistency and the service is extremely slow. This particular visit was on a weekday and I was seated right away. It took 25 min. before I was served and another 10 minutes for her to come back and take my order and was served and our food started trickling in about 10 min. later. When she came around to check on us and give us another menu to order more we had to ask about the forgotten items we selected. The fish was fresh, however the portion of the slices are a lot thinner than when I first started coming here. Also they have double the rice in their sushi. With every order I was so disappointed in the amount of rice they used. It over powered the fish so I could taste flavor of the fish/ shellfish. The taste was just was severely unbalanced. The place was about 95% to capacity when I got there and there was only 2 servers on duty. So that may have something to do with the service. The servers appeared to be focused at there job, but seemed a little stressed trying to serve their tables. read more

Don't come here if you want sashimi. They'll give you the 6 piece lunch or dinner and upcharge you for things you don't want. They also wouldn't make me anything without rice besides the sashimi that's limited to tuna, salmon, and yellow tail. They wouldn't make me any other nigiri items as just sashimi. Definitely not Tokyo Sushi or even Kitzmo. We stopped by on a Monday afternoon, but opted to order from the menu instead of paying the $22/person charge for the all-you-can-eat dinner. The interior was cramped, and smelled. Yes, IK sushi restaurants keep a lot of fish, but come on. It smelled like months worth of fried fish gunk! We didn't order very much, but we waited forEVER. People seated after us got their food and left before we even got the one whole appetizer we ordered. The wait staff was lax, and for the most part acted as if we were invisible, leaving our table full of dishes and our water glasses empty. Call me old fashioned, but I shouldn't have to ask where my appetizers went, or chase after wait staff for a beverage refill. The food quality was the most upsetting factor of this visit. We ordered a crystal shrimp roll and got tasteless shrimp and soggy breading soaked in some shoyu and sugar mix fiasco. Everything containing rice had a poor rice to filling ratio (read: lots of rice & a skimpy filling), a skinflint, low-rent move made doubly insulting by their overreaching prices. Even the nori was soggy, chewy, and difficult to bite through. Beware the dragon and Philadelphia rolls. The former tasted like deep fried Fancy Feast, and there was absolutely no discernible attempt to season the latter. I have to be honest, I was super disappointed by this place when we went in yesterday. It was a Saturday afternoon around 2pm. 1st) the parking is terrible. It's located in the Costco shopping center, and that shopping center is always booming. (But not the reason for the loss of stars) 2nd) And one of the reasons for only 3 stars is the terrible service. As soon as I sat down I ordered some appetizers while I waited for my husband to join me. 20 minutes later I never received them, so I ordered again. 15 minutes later I only get one of my orders, and just gave up on the other. And getting the attention of a chef to order sushi was extremely difficult. We were there for about an hour and only got to order twice. There was also a woman who was getting ready to leave right when we sat down. She had to ask for her check THREE TIMES before someone brought it to her. 3rd and final thing) It's not worth the price. It's about $18 per person for lunch, and you get a limited menu. Most places I've been to in Reno give you the whole menu no matter what time of day. All in all, there are better places in Reno to get better sushi at a better price with better service. read more

With so many sushi places in Reno, food at Sushi Pier is definitely nothing to rave about compared to other places in town, they don't have a dish/roll that would make me go back. I had never eaten here as I was never a fan of Sushi Pier 2 but my friend wanted to go, so we did, sushi is sushi but other places offer many more flavorful roll choices than here. We came here upon the rave reviews of friends who insisted that they have to eat here whenever they are in town. We were excited to get a chance to try this place, but were horribly disappointed. Let's start with the pros: price/value! We tried their all you can eat lunch buffet and can't believe all you can get for $17 ($10 for kids). Yes, we are accustomed to SF Bay Area prices, but still, there is no casino sushi buffet that you can get for this price. Out of everything on the all you can eat menu, we enjoyed the hand rolls the best. My kid could not get enough of their gyoza (potstickers) which seemed freshly fried. Service was friendly and great, and parking was plentiful. Location was convenient, and we could walk over to Costco afterwards. Cons: sushi rice. It was so disappointing to bite into a roll and get a mouthful of hard rice that tasted old. The flavor and texture of the rice were all off. And their rice is in almost every dish, as they don't have straight up sashimi on the all you can eat menu. The fish quality was decent- not the best, but also not going to make you sick. Bad sushi rice is so distracting when you're spending money on a nice meal out. I have had much better supermarket deli sushi than this. All in all, I would say the quality of their sushi is better than that of a typical casino buffet, but worse than Kura (which the Japanese consider to be the "McDonalds" of sushi). We usually get a table since my wife doesn't eat sushi. Thankfully this is one of the few sushi places in town to have a decent offering of non-sushi dishes and she is always happy with the teriyaki chicken. One drawback of sitting at a table is that it leads to me having to order all my sushi at once rather than one at a time if I was at the bar and I always over-order! Thankfully our server noticed I was about to explode before the last roll I had ordered came out and asked me if I would like to cancel it. I appreciated her alertness to the situation and did cancel so that I could still walk to the car when we were done! read more
