For my birthday tonight we ordered 4 types of specialty rolls. So we did rainbow roll, spicy tuna,caterpillar and crunch roll. All were fresh and delicious. We also ordered fried rice and some noodles w chicken as well. My husband picked this food up on his way home from work and brought it home. All the food was in a beautiful arrangement on a platter, making it look even more amazing. It tasted fresh and we all enjoyed it! I am picky with my sushi but I will be back to this spot. I love ayce restaurants especially when it comes to sushi. This place was a little different from what I am used to, which are places where you go up to the food and pick what you want. Here, you choose from a menu and check what you want on a piece of paper in which they will then make the food for you. I believe this is a little fresher which is great, but also, the wait will be a little longer. The sushi of course isn't going to be super high quality, but you get what you pay for, so I don't mind at all. Also, sushi shack is probably one of the cheaper sushi buffets in the area which is great for my wallet. Overall, this place is pretty great. When I'm craving tons of sushi and don't want to spend too much money, this place is my go to. read more

Believe it when other's say there's too much rice in every single piece. They try to pack the most rice they can even into the plain salmon and tuna rolls. This place is my family's go-to place for sushi. Large fountain drinks and delicious sushi! The fried rolls always come out hot and flavorful. I love this place's Louisiana roll, Spider roll and Alaskan roll. Today, I've tried some of their kitchen menu foods. I was kind of disappointed because the kitchen foods lacked flavor. Not only that but some of them were over cooked or under seasoned. Very different from their sushi menu. My family ordered the Alaskan rolls, Spider rolls, Crab Tempura rolls, and the Lousiana rolls. All delicious. When the kids finished the sushi, one of my family members decided to order the combination fried rice, fried calamari, and teriyaki chicken. The fried rice was really greasy, the calamari batter was crispy but lacks seasoning (a little salt would have made the dish much better), and the teriyaki chicken had great flavor, however it was dry. Overall, sushi menu all the way. Kitchen menu... Maybe it was a bad day... It was New Year Eve and the place was packed. Forgot to mention, they have great customer service! read more

I get it. You serve all you can eat you have to cut corners for profit. But there is a stead fast rule In most restaurants. Do not jeopardize quality for quantity. So using American short grain rice over Nishiki rice of any grade is not right. Good sushi rice has less starch as apposed to American rice. Also after you steam or boil the sushi rice the cook then adds a mixture of rice vinegar, sugar, and salt then folds the rice to make it airy and sticky. This crap tasted like cold steamed rice left over from a Chinese restaurant. So the sushi is the gummy and tasteless. What was in the sushi was goodness the rest was not and as the rice makes up like 60% of the roll that is an issue. The tempura dipping sauce should not be overly sweet. Think they got that one wrong too. The miso soup came from a mix. You can tell as the miso did not separate from the dashi stock. But hey if hat works then so it. The tataki was good. Ordered the beef. It was cold and had green onions on it. Used to it being served on a plate with reddish and ponzu with the green onions. This was served over mixed greens like a Salad. Nope. The salad dressing. Usual miso dressing was uber thick. Kind of hard to screw this up. Miso, pickled ginger, garlic, low sodium soy, wasabi, orange juice, shallots or red onion, white pepper, orange rind, peanut or vegetable oil, and mirin. Throw all of that into a blender and purée it. Add peanut or vegetable oil to make it thicker and then if too thick water can be added to thin it out or more orange juice. It should be thin enough to pour thick enough to coat the salad. This is what I use to dip my sushi into over soy and wasabi. Should be orange in color. Not off white. Something was wrong here. Overall too many bass over goods. They need some lessons in cooking sushi. Have a different rice set up if you are doing non all you can eat to the setup for the all you can eat. Mark the different rice in colored steamers. I'm guessing that whoever is making the sushi is not Japanese or they lost their love of cooking. They need to hire a consultant to correct the small mistakes. Adding to review after owner sent his generic reply. From the name of the owner I'd say Korean or Chinese. So no experience at all in making sushi other than how long he's been open or read. Could have been a Japanese here or a cook with experience or his wife is Japanese. Doubt it though. Reading the other reviews of this place show that there is a total lack of respect for customers and a total disregard for the food. When people go out to eat they expect food to be an experience. If they have never tried a cusine before and their first impression of your food is great then that is all they are judging that cuisine on till they spend some more money and try what it is actually supposed to be. Want to avoid the negative reviews hire a consultant. Not saying me but it's simple to fix the mistakes that your cooks are making. A quick Trevor's if your menu and laying out some guidelines not only for your menu but staff as well will show where your profits and losses are. Throwing out quality for quantity is your first mistake. Serving too much rice in your Maki is another big mistake. Based on the cost of sushi the rice is cheapest thing. People are going to understand jay all you can eat places are going to have cheap food is the menu is 12 dollars. Do a food cost on the menu and then see how bad it will be to raise the cost. If you want the absolute WORSE service, go here. I tried to eat sushi there on 9/15/2023 at 3:55p, but the waitress was sooooo incredibly rude, I had to leave. I asked where the restroom was and she just pointed. When I got back to the table, I began to complete my form for sushi and the waitress asked me had I been here before, I said no and she stated, I can tell. She began barking at me, that whatever sushi I didn't eat, I would be charged by the piece and that I had too many marked on my sheet. The form is highlighted so much, a blind person can see the disclaimer about sushi not being eaten. The waitress then stood at the table until I completed the form and erased some of my order. I told her, the service was terrible and she was rude. She was not concerned. She is doing the owner a disservice, because who wants to spend their money to be treated poorly? While prices are low and seems like a great place to eat at, I have had a bad experience almost every single time I've come. Whoever I come with have always been respectful with me, however we have received nothing but disrespect when attending this restaurant. The food is great but I always seem to receive something that isn't what I ordered. When I brought this situation up to the waitress, she made up an entire conversation that I supposedly had with her, even though I didn't, and tried gaslighting me into believing that I ordered something else. Then she became hostile and very rude after that. Once we paid, we agreed not to tip considering she was very rude and this has happened many times before. When we got our cards back after paying, she said "Next time, please tip" in a very condescending and disrespectful tone. The waiters here are not nice and it ruins your experience. I would not recommend. They did end up having us only pay for the food we originally ordered and not the ones that she gaslit us into trying to believe. Love this place. One of the best sushi restaurant I have been to. Each plate comes with a fresh catch. The taste, flavor and appearance is on point as well. The service is wonderful and nice. Always coming to check on us to see if we need anything or to refill or waters. I was seated at the bar so I got to see the chefs first hand in making my dishes. When I heard about all you can eat sushi for $10.99 I jumped on that train so fast! Ive been on a sushi hunt lately and my friend recommended me this place. We came here after lunch time more like late lunch and there was a few people here which I was fine with because that'll meant the food will come faster. I'm a hungry gal okay!? As I look over the menu there wasn't anything that stood out to me that would make me want to say "Ooo I want to eat that" They have some deep fried sushi which was a fun twist and some specific to the restaurant that they created. The ones that they created had cream cheese in them which I was was an interested twist but it worked well together. Upon arriving we were quickly seated and asked what we wanted to drink. On the table is the menu along with the paper you order from. So there is this paper that has the list of every sushi they have on the menu. The menu has pictures which is always a plus. You order how many you want of each roll. On the side it tells you how many rolls come with each order. Either 6 or 8 and you can order multiple of the same thing, or one of each thing or however you want to order. Then you give the lady your order and they start making your food. That was round one. You get three rounds which doesn't sound like a lot but my friend and I got 5 different types of sushi and split it and we were full by the end of round one. They also have calamari which is literally one tentacle and they come in a set of there so we made 2 orders. They also have a self serve station with veggies and miso soup. When grabbing the bowl for soup inside was dehydrated veggies and tofu but you don't take the lid with you. The soup was alright, wasn't my favorite miso soup but it was decent. For service the people were super nice and attentive. Overall great place to come if you want sushi for cheap. $11.90 including tax for lunch!! "Sushi Shack All you can eat" was just a mistake when we came here. It was our first time to this restaurant. The restaurant smelt so bad, the menu has about 55 different rolls that they put too much rice (and noticed you that they will charge you if you left over for the rice and bla bla...) and a few other stuffs. The rolls were average and had too much rice compared with other sushi/Japanese restaurants and no decoration at all. It made me feel like i was a homeless person and they gave me food for free. I ordered 10 pieces of salmon sashimi and 4 pieces of Yellowtail sashimi which i had to pay for about $14 extra + the All you can eat price. When I ordered 3 orders for the Calamari tempura they put it in front of me i saw only a few super tiny pieces (like in the picture), we were 3 people so I ordered 3 more orders, this time the waitress brought only 2 orders (6 pieces) with an unhappy face... Well, this was a big mistake when we made it here... Never come back. Good bye! P/s: to the owner: because I don't have the reply option on your comment so i will get back to you here. I didn't complain about paying $1 for each sashimi because i saw it on the menu and the waitress explained to us. I just didn't like the food and the service, especially the way the waitress served us. The young waiter was very nice but the waitress. Oof this place is gross. I went here once before and it was ok, not the best sushi. However when I returned back today after maybe a year of not being here... my gosh was it bad. We selected the sushi - salmon roll, Cali, spicy tuna, crunch, snapper. Food came out relatively quick but my gosh was it a mess of a plate. It looked like a MOUNTAIN of just rice. The sushi was not proportioned correctly at all . I'd say 1/5 fish, the rest rice. It was so much rice that I felt like they literally took left over rice and just packed it on top for fun. The rice was too soft, but really I just felt like i was eating pure rice and a small splash of fish. The seaweed - DONT get me started. It was so chewy as if it were gum. I honestly wanted to confront the sushi chefs and show them the sushi falling apart because they were packed with rice and ask them, why? The waitresses never came around, typically having to flag them down. My calamari tempura never came out on the first round. Typically when I go to AYCE sushi I eat so much, and go all 3 rounds. My friend and I stopped after the first round because it was just so disappointing. Also, the miso soup was literally just luke warm. Decent sushi at a good price. Just be careful. They only allow you 3 rounds of orders even though they are "all you can eat". Yon can order a lot, but just be aware that you can only call on the waiter 3 times to order. You order by checking what you want on the ticket then calling on your waiter. There are only 3 columns on the ticket. The waiter informed me that I can only order three times. In other words, you can order 30 pieces of sushi by ordering 10 pieces, then 10, then a final 10 pieces. However, you cannot order 4 pieces of sushi by ordering 1, then 1, then 1, then 1. Also sauce is 50 cents per tiny plate. The sushi is made of rice bits and not whole rice grains. No big deal. It all tastes the same. They don't put any vinegar in the rice. Some people don't like too much vinegar in the rice. Some do. I love the genuine sushi rice with vinegar so I wasn't thrilled about this. Sushi was very fresh, it wasn't too much rice, there was decent size pieces of fish in the sushi, and it was tasty otherwise. For $10 all you can eat at lunch, you can't go wrong. Salmon skin roll has crunchy salmon skin. Chicken teriyaki was a tiny bit dry but it is good. Teriyaki is also really grilled. I suggest that you give them a try. UPDATE 10/25/14; Last time, I gave them 4 stars and recomended them. Please note that I no longer recomend them anymore. I requested that they put more sauce ON the sushi and they charged me $0.5 per sauce type per person. This is ridiculous. I can understand it if they charged me extra for extra sauce on the side, but to charge me extra for sauce that is ON the sushi is absurd. Imagine, if you ordered steak and then discovering that they did NOT season your bland steak, you asked the chef to season it on your next visit and they charged you for the seasoning. You'd be pretty pissed off, right? You really do need the sauce because they put hardly any flavoring on their sushi. They do not use any vinegar in their rice. I only come here for the $10 sushi all you can eat deal. And what I've come to realize after coming here for 4-6 times in the span of a year, is that you really get what you pay for. The sushi is beyond mediocre. It is bad. The rolls are hit or miss (mostly miss) in how much of the ingredients you get. You could get a little sliver of the seafood and a whole bunch of rice. They just throw so much rice into the rolls and they're all messy and broken. The rice they use is not fresh and I suspect it's not even sushi rice. The service is a little slow at the place but not unbearable. We ordered 6 rolls, 3 were more basic rolls (avocado, California, spicy tuna) and the other three were more signature decorated rolls. "Getting what you pay for" has certainly taken a nosedive in recent years. Here's a trick that annoys this restaurant's management: -Order some rolls (no more than 2 per course) -Order 4-5 appetizers like tonkatsu and tempura -Pick the sushi apart until you have the mountain of rice they use to fill you up on and make donburi! Boom! A secret menu in and of itself due to this restaurant desperate to make their margins and fill you up on rice. -Be wary, as management will send waitresses to "snipe" your plates of leftover rice while you're waiting for the appetizers to arrive. They LOVE catching people and holding them to that ridiculous $0.60 rice policy. It's petty and it's stingy. It's simply an adaptation to miserly management practices that should be abandoned altogether. Just charge a higher price and ditch the extra rice. It works in California, Florida, New York, Washington and even Utah (that's as landlocked as it comes). The rice overloading is what turns most people off about these cheaper establishments. I get it, it's Texas, everything is bigger (including the appetites). I lived in Japan and Asia for years and this place reeks of Chinese-style management/ownership.
