This is a cute little spot for some sushi. I thought the service was excellent and the sushi rolls were good. I am not a fan of pasty tuna, though, so I was a bit disappointed with the spicy ahi. I like it chopped up instead but that's my fault for not asking. Overall, great experience as I've always wanted to try this spot. The baked green mussels were delicious!

I did alot of takeout before and it's always been consistent. Today, we decided to sit-in and just relax. Very cozy with a few tables spaciously apart. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. We had the Chirashi, Titanic Roll, and the Red Dragon Roll. The Chirashi is always good and the fish is always fresh. I like the slightly grilled shrimp on top. The Titanic Roll with Salmon leading the roll is excellent. The Red Dragon Roll is incredible with the crunchy tempura shrimp being the star. For a party of 2, this was alot of food. We had leftovers for takeout along with some other nigiri to go.

Ordered the Lion King roll, unagi roll, and two spicy ahi hand rolls, and everything was spot on. The Lion King roll was rich and flavorful, with perfectly baked fish on top and just the right amount of sauce -- indulgent without being overpowering. Each bite was warm, savory, and satisfying. The unagi roll was done really well. The eel was tender and buttery, with a nice balance of sweetness from the sauce and a subtle smokiness that didn't overwhelm the rice. The spicy ahi hand rolls were fresh, generously filled, and had a clean heat that built slowly instead of overpowering the fish. The nori was crisp, and the portions were solid. Overall, everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Great variety, great flavors -- I'd absolutely order these again.

Hidden gem. Definitely made me very full. Reservations: luckily I was able to reserve a table last minute before the dinner rush before 7. Ambiance: feels like Japan Customer service: love it Price: a little pricey but it's very good Parking: lots of parking

This SUSHI hit the SPOT!! I ordered the rainbow #2 roll and the kamikaze roll. My husband got a natto temaki, spicy salmon roll, and mount fuji roll. We also shared an order of agedashi tofu which came with a heaping mound of bonito flakes. Out of all the rolls we ordered the spicy salmon was our favorite!

If you are looking for a Sushi Spot in Aiea, Sushi Spot is the place to go! Located at the bottom of Aiea Heights Drive in Aiea commercial center! It's a small restaurant, I would consider hole in the wall, looks family owned. The past times we went, we were able to walk in. Was introduced to this place by my sister, and omg I'm so glad she did. It's one of her favorite places as well. Our go to is the crab tempura and Calvin's choice. The wife ordered the sushi and sashimi combo deluxe. And for dessert, the fried Oreos with ice cream. Oh my gosh, so good. Hit the spot! Everything was so good like always. The crab tempura, good. The Calvin's choice was good, and the sushi and sashimi combo deluxe was good. Next time I'm gunna try the hamachi lovers choice. I love my hamachi! Customer service was also great like always. The ladies were so so nice, gentle and friendly. Will definitely be back! Go and get your sushi fix neowwww!!

Mahalo Stretch, great choice for a snack before the airport. We arrived before the dinner rush and was seated right away. We wanted something not too heavy but just enough before the flight. The Sushi Deluxe Combo was a perfect snack for two! In a reasonable amount of time, this delicious platter was served. Quality slices of fresh fish, perfectly seasoned sushi rice, and this included hot miso soup and hot green tea. I appreciate when the tables and chairs are clean. Most important to me is that the dining area isn't too crowded nor noisy. I like to hear my friend's conversation :) Our server was very gracious and kind. Our Sushi Deluxe Combo was perfect! We enjoyed our dining experience here and we made it to the airport in plenty of time.

always a great time here. the restaurant is family owned and they remember us and greet us when we come it's nice to be welcomed. the food is incredible , great portions made fresh and comes out lightning fast. there are about 8 tables in all so we like to come eat and leave because normally there is a que outside. we get the same sushi every time, the spicy ahi tempura roll and the ninja. 10/10 we always return

Spicy scallop nigiri, tekka maki and spicy tuna nigiri! ((Packed so beautifully to go))

Run by a husband/wife duo who are absolutely welcoming and wonderful! The food never takes long even though everything is made to order. The complimentary miso soup is just lovely! They have TVs on both ends of the restaurant always playing lively music! By far my favorite sushi spot in town!!

Lunch in Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i... As I was walking to my car from Aloha Charms, I saw the sign for Sushi Spot. I've heard the name before... why? My friend, Traci T., got ROTD (Review of the Day) ten years ago! More recently, my friends, Craig, Deborah, and Gabriel have dined there. Ok - let's try it since we're here! Sushi Spot is truly one of those "hidden gems". It's a cozy nook where the driveway is kinda spooky because it's on an incline. The free parking lot was almost full! Inside, there were only 2 open tables! This place is popular! Service was very polite, traditional Japanese, and efficient! The server was so kind with a soft voice and gracious manners. I decided on the Sashimi Special... it was beautiful, fresh, and delicious! I ate the scallop first... mmm... slightly sweet and soft! I ate the grilled shrimp last and was surprised by the slight kick from the Sriracha/mayo sauce... LOL! Very clever - to add it to the smokey flavor! I also enjoyed the lettuce leaves, salmon, ahi, tamago, tako, squid with tobiko, and hamachi! This was a great, spontaneous adventure! I'll be back! Note: Thanks for the fun condiments on the table: shoyu, wasabi, and ginger! Thank you so much for the complimentary hot tea at the end of the meal!

There's nice and there's Sushi Spot. A small sushi restaurant in Aiea ran by a family. They are so sweet, friendly, and pleasant. You can definitely feel the positive energy. Aside from free/complimentary water, their miso soup is also complimentary. If you are in the mood for pretty good quality sushi around Aiea, this may be an option. (But really there isn't much good sushi place on this side of the island.) It is a small place and not sure if you can make reservation. My husband got the Hamachi lover and he was pretty happy with it. I tried their 2 pieces shrimp tempura udon. Broth was on the peppery side but good. They do have other entrees like chicken cutlet, udon, donburi, etc if you're not a raw fish eater like me. Be sure to try their fried oreo with vanilla ice cream at the end. It was a nice treat after the meal. Just a small note, if you're looking for an authentic Japanese sushi experience, I would try somewhere in town.

Service: The moment you walk in you are greeted! Very nice peeps there! All smiles and super friendly! Ambiance: It's a small whole in the wall place in Aiea, and parking was pretty easy. My husband and I were able to get there before the dinner rush. When you walk in, it's clean and very well lit. Food: Sooooooooooooooooooooooooo....freaking good! We got the sashimi platter, agedashi tofu, spicy salmon salad, Calvin's sushi and another sushi roll I forgot. Oh, and the hubby got the spicy mochiko chicken. The food came out pretty quick! Which is always a plus cuz we were starving! The sashimi was fresh and delicious! Agedashi tofu and the salad were also good! When they brought out the spicy mochiko chicken I was expecting the fried chicken to be sauced, but instead put the sauce on the side. Which I thought it was a plus because they were thoughtful on my husband's part. Overall, we had a great time! We will definitely come back again soon!

Fish is so fresh and sushi so yummy! You gotta try this spot in Aiea. Lots of parking available in the lot, about 10 tables inside this cozy, casual restaurant. We were seated quickly and perusing the menu when we joined in on singing Happy Birthday to a young guest there! What a great family vibe! So many choices on the menu and prices are what you expect to pay at a sushi place. Fresh fish and lovely service from this family business. We'll be back!

We got smoked out and it got bad to the point where my eyes were getting watery. Not sure if this happens all the time at this spot- this was my first time. The service was okay. We waited over 10 minutes to get cups of water and to put in our order. I totally get that they were short handed which also explains why it took almost 40 minutes for us to be served. Ordered the Negi-Hamachi to try something different. Hamachi is my favorite fish served sashimi style so I decided to switch it up and order the Negi-Hamachi which is finely chopped, yellow-tail with green onion and wasabi over sushi rice served with tsukemono and miso soup. I was super happy with this because the Hamachi was delicious and surprisingly, I did not feel bloated or too full afterwards.

I did not realize until I got there, so I thought I would probably have to buy the whole meal again. Instead, they were immediately understanding and told me it was okay. They just remade my order at this location and did not charge me again, even though the mistake was completely mine. I don't know what happened to the order at the other location. Since it was a common order maybe they waited to see if someone else ordered that? That kind of service really stands out. They definitely did not need to do that, and it made a big difference, especially since I was trying to eat quickly before going into work. Since they were already helping me out, I added a fried fish side, and it was really good. It was very crispy and came with a sweet and sour sauce that worked well with it. I also liked that the fish was local to Hawaii, which made the place feel even more worth supporting.

I liked the rice too, the perfect kind to soak up the curry and pair with the katsu. The Katsu Kushi was fun to eat as it had a good amount of variety. I enjoyed the mochi quite a lot, the beef was a bit tough to eat, and I would note that the soft shell crab was extremely fishy. Like INEDIBLE fishy. I don't know if they always have it like that or if it was just an off one. Either way it was NOT pleasant. Their lettuce salad is unlimited/bottomless and what helped combat the oily food. Service was okay. It's a suitable replacement for the time, for families to enjoy sushi or a Teppanyaki dinner "show". The layout has the Teppanyaki dining tables in the front as you enter, rather than at the back of on the side. I suppose it gives an air of excitement as you walk in and watch the chefs put on their show, but the level of "noise" it creates is a bit overwhelming if you're trying to enjoy a nice dinner with a date, or family and friends Our extended family (10 people) went there for an early (5:30pm) dinner on Saturday, before Father's Day, and were seated at the side room behind the glass partitions. From there, we could hear everything happening at the Teppanyaki tables, as though we were right there; especially when they sang "Happy birthday" about 4 different times for the parties enjoying their dinner. Just as a "heads up", I'm not against it, but it was really difficult for us in the other room to actually have a normal conversation across the table while ago that was happening. The food is pretty decent, with a wide selection of sushi rolls and other standard items. I'm not a big sushi roll eater, I prefer great sashimi and an occasional nigiri, but the rolls were pretty good, with several unique offerings. They have Oyster shooters and Uni shooters that come as 2 per order. There were 3 of us (me, my daughter and SIL), so we asked if we could just order 3, rather than 4, but sadly, no. It was fine, and someone in the group ate the other one, but I wished they would price it as each; as most other restaurants that have this item do. The sashimi was average, but it's more of a family dining spot, rather than a sushi bar. The service was good, and everyone enjoyed the food and fellowship. I may be tempted to come to try the Teppanyaki in the future, especially if I'm bringing my granddaughter for the show.

But the chicken katsu was one of the worst I've ever had on O'ahu. The chicken katsu was greasy and soaked in old oil that tasted rancid and oxidized, which made the panko a disappointingly saturated mess. The panko was way too browned, and neither flaky or freshly crunchy like katsu should truly be, and was a far cry from the photo in the menu. The poor, fatty chicken quality and the rubbery skin left on the chicken pieces just added to the gristly and chewy nature of the katsu. Charging customers these prices for this kind of subpar quality chicken is absolutely insulting, and we couldn't even finish the dish. It's such a disappointment to write this kind of review, but others need to know what they're getting when they order katsu at Gyotaku.
