I heard about Sushi Taka from a friend, so I decided to check them out on a Friday afternoon for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The interior of the place was very clean and sleek. Plating of the food was aesthetically pleasing and the food itself did not disappoint. The fish and greens were fresh and I was able to enjoy my meal to the very end. Yelp did us right again. Solid 4 stars based on quality, presentation, and price. We had the Newport Roll and Huntington Roll. They were both on the Happy Hour special BOGO50%. Both were super fresh and very well executed. Draft Sapporos were ice cold in a substantial glass mug and were BOGO$1. We needed to supercharge to get back to San Diego. BTW the Tesla Supercharger is across the street in the LA Fitness parking garage. Final note that this restaurant is very nicely decorated/appointed and clean. Will we go back? Absolutely. read more

Note, my order was delivered via Uber Eats. I got the Laguna Beach Roll. The salmon was fine, no fishy flavor whatsoever. But thats when the good things end. First time ordering. We got 5 rolls and soup for dinner and each was as tasty as the next. Spicy tuna was very spicy, so be ready with lots of ginger and something to wash it down with. Rainbow roll, salmon skin roll, Philadelphia roll, pink lady roll were fresh and delicious. Crunc role, was different than were used to, but very good. Soup was light and had great flavor. Would definitely order from them again. UPDATE: Second review- We ordered twice as much for our second order. Some different, some the same. This is very friendly place I usually go for Japanese food. The space is bright and modern, and the food is fresh and clean all the time. Price is little bit high, but it worth. My husband likes their Chirashi bowl and I like their Taka plate with chicken and BBQ beef. My daughter is always eating same thing there. Fresh Poke bowl. I live little far from the restaurant, but it is close to my job. After I tried their food at my lunch time, now I go with my family at dinner time too. The server gave us gyoza for free to try it. I've been looking for a sushi spot with moderate prices and a variety of rolls and I've found it !! The prices are great and their selection is so creative. Hmm, the more I order, the more disappointed I'm getting it feels like... Mistakes happen which I totally understand, but if it keeps happening, then you know it's not a mistake, it's either carelessness or inconsistency :/ The first time I ordered from them, it was great, everything felt super fresh and you can tell they weren't being cheap with the ingredients. My roll had a good amount of avocado inside and it wasn't just overly packed with crabmeat. My second order, the level of freshness was different depending on the roll, but you can tell they were being stingy this time. Barely any avocado inside the roll, all crabmeat. Was pretty sad seeing this bc I thought I found my go to sushi joint. Maybe I thought, it was just this time. Third order, I order off grub hub and ordered the same item but a quantity of 2. When it delivered, it was only a quantity of 1 delivered. Idk how the waiter/waitress didn't catch this small bag of food costing to be $30 didn't ring a bell that maybe they were missing an order? I ordered a poke bowl so you can imagine the bag being fairly small. I even requested a side of sriracha and that too was even dismissed. Idk when I'll order for my fourth time if I'm being completely honest. I just keep getting let down. I think for now I'll try out other sushi joints. read more

I came to this location for a to go order while I was at the nearby supercharger. I ordered a custom poke bowl (12.93 total). It was a slower evening and the gal promptly took my order and my order was prepared in less than ten minutes. I ordered albacore, salmon, and spicy tuna. I was very pleased with the quality of the fish and it was much better than what you would get at any other poke spot. The albacore was seasoned, the salmon was small filet pieces and the spicy tuna was pretty standard. I like that they include several toppings with no additional charge (avocado, crab meat, seaweed salad, edamame, ginger, green onion, wasabi, and fish eggs). Overall I really did enjoy the meal, and felt it was on the smaller end. Typically other poke places will provide more of a base whether it be the rice, salad, or both, but i felt that there was not enough topping for the actual toppings. I would absolutely come back and perhaps ask for more salad on the base. There are a few happy hour specials on drinks and rolls during happy hour are buy one, get one half off (which seams like a fair deal since roll prices are a bit inflated). read more

This place is great! I came in on happy hour were sushi is buy one and get one half off from 3pm to 9pm. We got the Pink lady and the Baled Rolls which tasted amazing. It was pretty empty when I walked in but the set up is cute and comfortable. Try the Mango roll, the flavor was sweet and almost refreshing in a hot day. This place is delicious! Can't understand why it's not more crowded. Everything we ordered (which was a lot lol) was fantastic and fresh. We looooved the Malibu roll as well as Sexy Lady. Lots of fun spicy options. Also the white wine was surprisingly very good for such a decent price.
