Just an okay place for sushi, just a typical place in my honest opinion! //CONTEXT// I was craving sushi and always looking to try a new place. I came around 2 pm by myself. //ENVIRONMENT// This place replaced Fatty Tuna in the plaza where mother's market and Lemonade is. It's a simple, modern decor place with a good amount of seating. //FOOD// * Taka 2 combo special * I tried their 5 piece nigiri and one of their specialty roles. It's comes with salad and miso soup. *Miso soup - was very bland. Normally there's a nice base to miso soup and it didn't have much of a taste. The * 5 piece nigiri - typical of any other sushi spot. The salmon didn't have the buttery melt in your mouth taste nor did the yellowtail like it normally does. * Special roll - I had their roll which was California roll with spicy tuna on the outside. This was decent but the way they rolled it made it fall apart! * Seared salmon sushi - this was my favorite. The seared part was good but wish the salmon had a more Melt in your mouth taste salmon normally has. //PRICE// Ended up being $26 with a drink and tax before tip. //OVERALL// I wouldn't come back however I could see it as a place being a quick sushi place. I don't get the five star reviews for the taste as it was just like your typical sushi spot and the fish didn't have much taste. read more

This review is based on my to-go order - Taka 2 combo. - Chicken teriyaki: it was one piece thinly sliced. Dry and bland even though they have the sauce. My portion was much smaller than the pic from other dine-in customers. Why should there be a difference between a to-go and dine-in customer? - Miso: very bland. Just like Pauline mention, normally there's a nice base to miso soup, which this one do not have. I have prepacked miso soup that taste much better. - 5 piece nigiri: Nothing special. Got the sexy lady, Huntington roll, and crispy spicy tuna (Forgot the name) those rolls were delicious and the restaurant has a good selection. It's a bit pricey but the rolls are large and filling. Their fish quality is sublime! I was very surprised with their high quality of fish despite their casual price, especially comparing to other sushi rolls and poke bowl places. They're very open to customising their menu for their customers also, and have kind service. I've had their food to-go for the first time today, and the food was just as fresh as you can see in the photo. I live for spicy tuna rolls. I joke that I have a special spicy tuna roll pouch in my body because I love it so much. It's true, my body has developed a second organ specifically just to process it! Their spicy tuna and salmon rolls are incredible. It's probably some of the best I've had. The spicy tuna is actually spicy and fresh and not guzzled in mayo to hide old fish. The fish to rice ration and proportion is perfect. To me this is the perfect spicy tuna. This all started when my gf once brought it back for me on the way back from work. Immediately I was hooked. I started to crave it constantly, I thought about it. I knew I had to get more! I didn't even know what the place was called.. She just said it was a little place next to Mothers. After searching on google maps for 10 mins I just drove over and parked and walked around and finally found it. I went in and was shocked my that there wasn't many people in there. Its kinda in a little nook and isn't really visible unless you get close. It's really a shame because the food is actually fresh and and the prices are SO good. I got my 4 orders and left happy as a clam. I am the type of person to rave about places that I really enjoy. It's just in my nature to. I don't rave about a many places but this place is awesome. If I love something so much why not share that enthusiasm and love with other people? Do you like fresh rolls? You like spicy tuna? Salmon rolls? Rolls? Good food? Incredible value? A happy wallet? Do not order from this place. They charge extra for ponzu, like why? The lady on the phone was quite rude, especially after putting in a $80 order. You would think they would cater to the customer that is not sitting at the restaurant, but they don't. Told them to cancel my order, and I will not have them cater any of my events anymore, especially since they charge per ponzu drop. My roommate at I tried this place for the first time and loved it! Didn't catch the guy's name but he was super friendly and accommodating. Only negative is that the basic rolls (Cali, etc) are a little pricier than most places but the other rolls are very normal pricing. Customer service is AWFUL!!! It was my first time trying this place and I ordered delivery through Uber Eats. When my food came, an item was missing. So I called the restaurant and told them one of my items was missing and the lady told me no it's not that she put it in the bag. I told her the bag is empty and there are no gyoza here. She said I packaged the order and I know I put them in there. Well I told her there was obviously a mistake because I don't have any. Decent sushi place. Knocked down a star because 1. Service is slow, I've been here twice where my miso soup was forgotten and people seated after us ordering rolls also get their food faster? 2. You leave smelling like oil/grease/tempura. It is so bad that it's embedded into your clothes/hair, which shows that the ventilation in the restaurant is bad. As for the food, I would recommend the sunset roll and hot lady roll (but they do overkill with the sauces so I would skip that). read more

I came here to eat in the weekend. Was looking forward for some good sushi. When I arrived There was a man there was only one person taking orders, it was very empty. When I ordered this man just looked like he wanted me out. He didn't seem he wanted to be there and was not helpful at all when I asked for recommendations. He was on his phone and Like I said, was not very friendly. Customer service needs some work. As for the sushi itself, wow, it was not the best. The sushi kept falling apart, really difficult to eat and to pick up with chop sticks. We tried this place several times. The food is below average to average. But what encouraged me to write this review and give this place a single star (though it does not deserve any star) is the RUDE and IMPOLITE attitude of the person who takes food orders and presumably is the owner of the place. I witnessed in multiple instances how disrespectfully he speaks with customers particularly with the women customers. In one instance I tried to give him a friendly advice but he aggressively responded that it was none of my business. I own an engineering firm with 15 employees. To support the employees as well as the small local businesses during the COIVID-19 situation, we started offering our employees reimbursements for meal purchases. In an effort to give a very small business lesson to this person, we no longer honor reimbursement for the meals purchased from this place. read more

For some context: I ordered from Sushi Taka using UberEATS. I can't comment on the restaurant itself, or factors such as the service of the staff, since I ordered through uberEATS. Additionally, I have only ordered from here once, so if I tried again it is possible I'd have a better experience. I made the mistake of ordering and THEN checking yelp reviews. I noticed some people left some reviews that caused me some concern. However, I figured I may as well give it a try, since I already ordered and there are some positive reviews on here too. My order came in a decent amount of time and everything was as I ordered. It was a bit on the expensive side, but I am willing to forgive that if the sushi is good quality. The thing is, the sushi was among the most disappointing sushi I've ever had. I am a BIG fan of sushi and I tend to inhale it, but this time I actually spent more time wondering if I was getting sick rather than eating my food. Some of the rolls were greasy, and all of them did not taste fresh. My stomach was churning after eating. Luckily I did not get sick like some other reviewers here, but I actually ended up throwing some of the sushi away just because it tasted a bit gross and I didn't really trust how it made my stomach feel. One positive is that the rolls were on the larger size, but that hardly matters when they are not appetizing. This is crazy for me, because anyone who knows me knows sushi is my favorite food on this planet and probably in the entire solar system and galaxy and universe. But I just could not bring myself to enjoy the food from here. Even the edamame I ordered didn't taste fresh. Once again, please take my review with a grain of salt, since I have only ordered from here once and I didn't get to experience anything beyond just the food alone. Looks like a cool sushi spot in a busy center but one major flaw! I walked-in today at 11:25. Doors were open, signs were posted, therefore you'd think you can walk into a restaurant. After 2 minutes if standing there, two people walk out from the kitchen and go "ohhh we open at 11:30". So I turned around, apologized and walked out. As I was on my way out they changed their mind and tried to call me back in and take a seat. Guess what? Too late! This day and age, consumers have plenty of options especially in a busy center like this. You don't want people in? Don't open the doors and post your signs. If you do and a customer walks in, then be willing to accommodate without making a comment about your hours! Will spend my money where it's wanted!!! read more

I found this restaurant at around 12 noon while in the mood for Japanese. The shrimp tempura was below average: shrimp were small, overbreaded, cooked in overly-used fat that was not hot enough. Whoever the server was on 11/27 was terrible. Instead of sitting my party they sat down to eat dinner and look at their phone. After politely coughing a few dozen times. She glanced up, pretended not to see us then went back to looking at her phone. We were waiting for awhile, and she consistently pretended we were not there.
