My best friend was raving about this restaurant. We went there for lunch today and were impressed. Not knowing the portion sizes we ordered off the dinner menu. I had the chicken katsu and my wife ordered the teriyaki. The portions were huge. I definitely couldn't finish and took the leftovers home. Best sushi I've found in San Jose! We arrived right when they opened for dinner on a Saturday. The interior was spacious, with plenty of seating and Japanese decor. I really liked the umbrellas and paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling. My friend and I both ordered Miso Soup and three special rolls to share - the San Francisco Roll, Double Salmon Roll, and Downtown Roll. Service was attentive and impressively fast! I couldn't believe how quickly the rolls came out. All three rolls were so good, it was hard to even pick a favorite. The amount of fish was very generous, and the cuts were just incredible. The salmon especially was so smooth and buttery, I couldn't get enough of it. These special rolls were also only $12.95 each, which was super reasonable compared to what I've seen at other places. Came in on a Saturday night around 6PM. Many open seating and the interior is beautifully decorated. It's very open and clean. Service was quick, we sat down and ordered quickly. They were very nice and brought out the food pretty fast. We ordered a handroll, some nigiri, and a dragon roll. Everything was pretty decent, and for the price, very affordable! The nigiri had little rice but big pieces of fish (lowkey they put too much wasabi but i just scraped it off). Dragon roll was very standard. Futo Maki (very large--best if picked up by hand): lots of different veggie ingredients including shiitake mushrooms Vegetable Tempura Roll(5): these are pretty big and include a variety of tempura vegetables. We called over to check if there was a wait on a Saturday night before leaving another sushi spot, and they had a reserved table ready for us when we got there! Service was attentive, our drink order was taken right away and food came out quickly after ordering! Food-We had toro, saba, a few rolls, katsu dinner, oysters and tempura udon. The tempura was crisp and light, not soggy, and vegetables were abundant! Everyone shared the katsu chicken and we had plenty to take home. My husband said it was very good. They had lemonade available for the kids and water, and I enjoyed an Asahi. They only had the large size available. Oysters with ponzu sooo good that my daughter that doesn't usually eat oysters wanted to eat them with me. We did a tempura shrimp toast, cheers! Ambiance was fine. Safeway doesn't even sell their California rolls for $5! Ordering was breeze online. Here is what we ordered: Salmon Kama: meaty and well seasoned. No complaints since it was only $6 a piece. Super Dragon Rolls: the best roll of the night. I would order this again. SF Roll: good amount of raw fish but the sriracha was an overkill. Crunch roll: generous roll! Ours had about 8-10 pieces! Negihama: fishy, I wished they would chopped up the fish instead of using big pieces. We'll order again from here! Finally a yummy and affordable sushi place in this area!! We came here on Monday night and was seated right away. My sisters and I got one dinner combination, Chicken katsu entree and an appetizer to share. The food portion ARE HUGE! The dinner entree and combo each came with a salad and miso soup. We chose the three items combo and the three rolls were so generous! We were blown away by how delicious and fresh the fish were, especially the salmon. The rice was a little too wet and our roll kept falling apart but thick cut of fish was so worth it!! I really wanted to try the toro nigiri as well but they said only on Wednesdays. I do appreciate the quick service and also the attentiveness that the waiters has for every table. They come pretty frequently to refill teas whenever it was low. The lower price point is definitely appealing but I'd shy away from getting the sashimi platter. Some of the dishes they had were definitely in good quality such as the yellowtail, oysters and also the white fish (which I don't know the name of). I thought the salmon was really orange and I didn't know if that was normal and also the tuna was stringy. I straight up don't know what that brown fish was but I just through it was weird and off putting. Worst customer service. My husband and I came in to pick up our orders with Uber Eats. He did two separate orders. We came in the male server ready giving us attitude. We showed him the uber eat orders he kept pointing at the two bags with receipts thinking he trying to show us the names. We just nodded and said ok thanks you my husband grabbed one and I tried to grab the other thinking it was ours he didn't let me so I asked my husband can he grab it since he probably think I'm not with him. No he raised his voiced saying tow orders two sushi in the bag and we're like ok? Walked out and was like no it should be two orders fours sushi rolls. Came back in told him another lady talked to us and she said it's not ready once it's ready she showed us the receipts and we're ok yes that's our name both of them. Sushi Town has some decent eats, but the effort it can take to get here isn't really worth it in my opinion. The main problem with Sushi Town is its located on a very busy street with only drive-up parking. It's located in the same building as Peter's Bakery, so locals know what I'm talking about. Peter's Bakery is probably the best bakery in San Jose, but there's no eating there -- you gotta get in and get out, and if you don't have a rear-view camera, leaving is harder than it has to be. So all this said, I'd suggest parking at the neighborhood behind the restaurant. But when you actually get there, it's cool. The servers are attentive, and the food is decent. I'm not gonna lie -- the main reason I came here was because of all those photos of the King Roll... that crab mountain. Unfortunately, it's imitation crab. I kind of expected that, but you hope it isn't. Fun photo though. The rolls are a nice value because of their fish-to-rice ratio, but everything I had was drenched in sauce which isn't ideal either. It was so juicy, the meat was soft, and flavorful. Some of beef pieces were kind of dry. The tempura was also yummy where you can taste the prawn. The best part was they gave plenty of rice. TBH with the prices, you can't find it anywhere else. There's only street parking around the area and in front of Peter's Bakery. The service was quick during lunch time. I got the Philadelphia roll and also a tonkatsu with tempura! It tasted pretty standard to me, but the tempura was a bit oily, still good though! I would have to say though, the price point of this place is probably the best I've seen for sushi in a while. I loved the food here! It's currently a soft opening but the servings were huge. The pricing is great as well. We ended up taking the food togo because it was so much food! The Salmon nigiri cuts were thick and fatty. The spider rolls were fresh and you can even taste the crab meat. Eel was solid and normally I don't like yellow tail but it was solid here. Looking around the chicken teriyaki was massive and if you order the dinner entree, it comes with free rice and miso soup as well. The place is still new and I hope this place keeps it up. (When we left, there were 11 tables filled with hungry customers.) Yes, the neighborhood is very glad Sushi Town is here! We came specifically to try their lunch Bento Boxes, with your choice of chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki, or tonkatsu, priced at $8.95! The bento portions are big and include salad, tempura, rice, and two small bites of California roll. If you want miso soup, it is an additional $1.95. We opted not to have soup, but ordered a Spider Roll ($8.95), and Agedashi-tofu ($7.95). The decor is clean, bright, and cheery! Servers are kind and genuinely friendly. The food is beautifully presented and look very appetizing. Our Spider roll and bento boxes came in a timely manner, but they forgot about our Agedashi-tofu. I "liked" the tempura but wish it had a crunchier batter/exterior. The chicken teriyaki came with a lot of sauce, but it lacked a punch of flavor. The teriyaki beef was sliced a little too thinly and looked like matchsticks. When we were reminded our nice server about the missing Agedashi, it finally made an appearance, and it was super hot! I have been craving sushi and mentioned to my group of friends that we should come here after hiking. We were a group of 7 and they quickly accomodated us. We went right when they opened for dinner, around 5pm. The place is well decorated, and the bathroom was clean. It seems like they're still in soft opening if im not mistaken. The guy who was our server made sure our orders were correct and repeated what we ordered. I like how they taped a receipt of our order to make sure we got everything! Upon serving the dishes, some of them were mistakes and they were apologetic - we understand because it was busy and it happens sometimes. What surprised me the most was the king roll! For about $16-$17, you get a MOUNTAINFUL of immitation crab. I thought it was really creative and I even overhead the table next to us say what was it. It looks like strawberry shaved ice! I think they did went a bit overboard with the immitation crab because my stomach was a bit upset that night and the next day. However it was pretty decent! All of their fish seemed fresh. No fishy taste. Presentation and portions 10/10! For a sushi spot, even their chicken katsu was really good. It wasn't heavily coated with panko, and you could tell they didn't use old oil based off of the color. Not pictured is their salmon sashimi. It was really good from what my friend said! Overall our bill was just shy of $150 - and that's really good for a party of 7. I highly recommend setting a reservation if possible. The interior is not super large so it might be tough to sit together with a big group. You can find parking in the front or there's a lot in the back as well. The food here was delicious! The size of the rolls and entree were HUMONGOUS. You definitely get the most bang of your buck here. I want to come back again and try their lunch bento boxes. -1 for service but I think once it gets less busy, they would be able to pick it back up.
