When the food arrived, it was basically a pile of mixed veggies, and only a few pieces of chopped up shrimp that we had to search for. We asked Vania, our server, about it and her response was quite rude. She basically didn't even check out the food when we tried to show her. She didn't offer to let the manager or kitchen know. Her attitude was like it's what you ordered, yes, it is but to pay $29.98 for 2 tostadas with a ton of veggies and probably only one piece of shrimp that was chopped for 2 tostadas is robbery. To top it off, Vania was so rude, she acted like she was right, and only thought of her self. She needs to have an attitude adjustment if she wants earn better tips as a server. Kinda confusing. $19-$25 for one 12pc roll of 'sushi' that doesn't even have any fish or fresh protein in it? All rolls are flash fried and have imitation crab involved. I have previously went to this restaurant a few months back but when I went, it was empty and I really enjoyed the Mexican sushi. I went yesterday after a really long day it was heartbreaking that I was the only Black person in there and got ignored. What the waitresses don't know is I'm Afro Latina but Becasue they only see skin they ignored me and didn't even give me a menu. I started my stop watch to see how long and ten minutes went nobody served or gave me a menu despite looking me dead in the eyes as I walked in and sat down several times. People who parked and came in after me were given menus and severed but I was ignored. The waitress even went table to take asking if everything was good but still ignored me. I grew up in LA where blacks and brown, Afro Latina's and Caribbean's unite so that experience was very heart breaking for me. Im not used to racism with Mexicans. I have everything on film my feeling are more hurt then wanting a consequence but racism is not okay especially when us black and browns are being oppressed by the same group of people. Especially when ICE and the police are after both groups we should be united not divided. That behavior was disgraceful. I hope GOD will deal with it in a just manner. read more

I love their black sauce aquachile, it's so fresh and full of flavors. I was a fan of ceviche but I had to switch it lol. I had their ceviche but honestly it's not as good or shrimp quality like the aquachile. And that's fine with me because I do have a ceviche spot to go too when I want. I also had their shrimp sushi rolls and it's pretty good in my opinion. It is very full of rice so you can definitely get full off a few bite. They do offer party platters for Togo take out so definitely look into that if you have a house party. This was our first time here. When we got there it was confusing whether we are supposed to seat ourselves or not. So we just chose a table and sat down. The menu had a lot of options but the sushi section was a little confusing. It has "PD and PF" which we didn't know what it meant. We ordered two different sushi rolls and a seafood dish that we forgot the name of and forgot to take a picture of it. All three were SO GOOD!!! The food is super delicious. The chips and salsa were good too. The salsa wasn't too spicy. It was different than most restaurants where they give you salsa. I knocked a star off for the service. We could barely hear what the waitress was saying, and it took a while to get our check. The horchata wasn't that good, and I think it's overpriced. Sinaloa, I've been told, is well known in Mexico for its BBQ and its seafood. For several years, the Kent-Des Moines neighborhood has had the fortune of having Asidero Sinaloa represent its BBQ tradition, and with the arrival of Sushinola, it can now boast of hosting the seafood traditions of this culinary region of Mexico, as well. One of those exported traditions is an eye-catcher: Mexican sushi. Unfortunately on my visit, the sushi rolls that originally captured my imagination were unavailable at the time I ordered, due to what sounded like a problem with whatever heating device the bake them in. With that news, I quickly transitioned into a ceviche-style dish that I believe was called Botana Navolato, which featured three types of seafood: prawns, squid, and pulpo (octopus). The sea animals were all very tasty and fresh, and the ceviche sauce was well composed and tart; they served a hotter versionof the sauce in a shot glass at the center of the plate (no, not tequila...). The dish was rounded outby some nice tortilla chips, big and round and clearly handmade. As good as that dish was, admittedly, regrets...yes, well there were a few. I had come for Mexican sushi after all, and it is hard to switch off a sushi craving. For much of the meal, I could only gaze upon the chopsticks nestled up amongst the tableside collection of salsa picante and wonder what might have been. Complicating matters was the subsequent presumed repair of the heating element. Suddenly, hot food was now again available, and the newly seated guests were able to quickly take advantage. My waitress, perhaps seeing me balefully follow the full menu items now being served to the newer guests, kindly offered me an empanada on the house, which I must say was fresh, delicious and enhanced by the obvious pride ith which it was offered and served. This is not a formal dining experience. But it is authentic...at least as far as Mexican sushi can be considered "authentic" (and I would say that, based on what my Sinaloan friends tell me, it is pretty damn authentic). Unfortunately, I'll have to leave the description of how that fusion works for the taste buds to other reviewers. The restaurant is welcoming. Our waiter was very nice and helpful when we ordered. My fiancé and myself shared a Molcajete and a Sushi roll. We both had micheladas. All items were delicious! You are given tostadas and salsa before your meal but be warned the portions are big therefore don't eat too many tostadas with salsa or you will get full quick. What I am docking the one star is for the ridiculous price of the molcajete. $40 for this item is too much! It is not on the menu so I asked if they had it, as I had seen pictures of it online. I never asked our waitress the price. They have mexican music playing while you eat. There are little signs with typical Sinaloense dichos or phrases, which made us feel at home with our family. These restaurants are popular back home in Cali, so I am glad we found this gem. read more

First time here I ordered the encambronado roll. It was so good I love the chipotle kick to it. They add a yellow chili that hits the authentic sinaloense taste.
