Hidden Gem! The sushi was amazing, tried lots of different rolls and they were all delicious. We sat at the bar which I would recommend.

Let me start out by saying that I tried to eat at this restaurant yesterday. I showed up at 8:45 and nobody was there. It was closed even though it clearly shows they were open till 9:30. This is frustrating, but I thought I would give them a second chance. The restaurant is small inside seating about 40 at tables and about 12 at the bar. When I walked in I had multiple employees look over at me, not one said anything. I sat there uncomfortably waiting for someone to greet and seat me. It took a minute or two, but I was finally seated. The restaurant seemed clean although the walls could use a coat of paint. After being seated I was handed a erasable menu and a drink was offered. Unfortunately the waitress was very timid and didn't explain that it was reverse happy hour and didn't mention the 3 roll combo to me. I figured it out, but restaurants should always ask if it is your first time and explain the intricacies of their restaurant. I order 3 rolls. The Crunch roll Tootsy roll and the Crazy Shrimp roll. The Crunch roll and Tootsy we're okay. For the price the were good. The Crazy Shrimp roll was by far the best roll, although the most expensive as well. My meal came to $25, which was a decent price (although two of the rolls were cheaper because of the reverse happy hour). Was this the best sushi I have had?? No, but overall I was full and happy so I would recommend giving them a try. If they would engage with the customers a little better and give the walls a new coat of paint it would make this restaurant shine. read more

I am very content with my boyfriend & I's lunch date at sushiya! Everything tasted so fresh and amazing, and the sushi chef was awesome. The roll slices are pretty small, but that is what I prefer. Edamame was super hot when it came out. Overall, I have to give it 5 stars because there really wasn't anything bad about my experience today. read more

Amazing lunch special, all of this food for $10. I didn't know what to expect because the menu didn't have pics, but glad I took a chance. I ordered the spicy chicken lunch combo. The chicken was cooked well, the veggies tasted fresh and it was on the spicy side but not too hot. The combo came with an order of California rolls which were just as tasty. This is a hidden GEM!! Highly recommend sitting at the bar and getting to know Jason and his team. Such wonderful people and great conversation! The food was delicious and fresh. If we could give a 4.5, we would. Great sushi and atmosphere. When we walked up, we thought it was closed because the windows are so tinted and the lights low. Luckily, they were open and not too busy on a Sunday night at 6:30-ish. It is a pretty small place with 3 1/2 booths, probably 6 tables and then the sushi bar. We were seated and handed the sushi order form but no other menu. We noticed black books on other tables and grabbed them. It was the full drink and food menu and then a photo album with pictures of the sushi rolls and descriptions of what is inside them. Helpful for sushi novices or for anyone regarding their specials. We were there during happy hour (daily until 7:30!) and ordered many items on the inexpensive list (Cali roll under $3!). Veggie tempura to start and the sauce was so good. (Our wimpy roll ;-) )Crunch, Cali and AZ rolls were all on the list and were extremely fresh and tasty. The Las Vegas roll has rave reviews on here but was probably the roll we liked least of our bunch. The AZ was unique and crazy good! It tastes like a fried Cali roll with a seafood salad and yummy sauce on top. We also appreciated that the presumed owner went around checking on tables. I know many complained about the timing of the sushi being too spaced but we actually appreciated it. We had a few minutes after tempura before our two non-fancy rolls arrived and then 10-15 min after, as we were finishing up, they brought our last two. Especially with fried rolls, we liked being able to focus on those while fresh and hot. The only slight negatives would be not being given menus and we had no set server for our table. There were about three different waitresses checking on our table throughout the meal and they would ask the same questions as the server prior to them. We did get a correct order, refills on our drinks, and our bill in a timely manner. Thus, not unforgivable. :-) Definitely found our new local sushi spot. read more

I think this is the freshest, most innovative sushi around. The chef's are awesome and will give excellent suggestions. Last time we were there, they let us sample their smoked meats (smoked in house!!!). Can you imagine??? Smoked Salmon, smoked in house at a sushi restaurant? I was not impressed the rolls were okay. Me and my girlfriend ordered the California roll, vegi roll, crunch roll, and the Las Vegas roll , with soy beans I was surprised to see them rolling without gloves. I did not see him wash his hand once. The atmosphere was very Americanized along with the rolls. I would not recommend or go back. read more

The Scallion Sashimi plate is by far my favorite item! Every single time I'm here I HAVE TO get it! It's so fresh & delish! By far my FAVORITE sushi spot in the valley!!! The food is delicious, and not over priced. The portions are definitely perfect and filling! The sushi chef doe an amazing job with the construction, flavor, and presentation of everything they create! Gave 3 stars because the fish was fresh and tasty, the rice wasn't "SUSHI" rice it was a bit dry and crunchy. The rolls were very small and not enough fish- too many of the rolls are with imitation crab and small selection of raw fish rolls. read more

We have been coming to this place for 4 years for in person dining and take out and despite the food, the service is just not worth it. To start, the take out is terrible. If you get the food you ordered (usually they leave out multiple items) it's late, very late. They are not friendly and do not apologize, they just ask if you want to cancel your order after waiting. In person, they place your food on the table and do not engage or make an effort to make a connection with customers. We will not be returning. *Today I placed my order at 5pm. And was told it would be ready by 6pm. I arrived at 6pm only to be told they had not even begun making my order. So I waited for an additional 40 minutes. No one apologized. Great food, great prices. Usually a pretty long wait for take out but very worth it. Just call an hour ahead of time. Sometimes they are so busy that they cannot answer their phone. Luckily we live right across the street, so we've driven over just to order take out in person. We've never dined in but it's always packed so obviously people love it and love eating there despite the wait. Very friendly staff. This is still my go-to sushi place! I like a lot of others, but this one, I LOVE! The owners are friendly and help the staff when it is busy, the staff is always fun and attentive, and the Itamaes (sushi chefs) are amazing! We were regulars we would go every week, Mainly because of Jennifer a waitress who is no longer there. It's small inside, limited seating, It's our date night we want to sit at a table not the sushi bar that has two chairs.... The hostess\waitress wouldn't put us at a table we were next to sit and she said 'sorry the waits going to be longer because they have a table of 6 available The owner walks past us and says nothing full well knowing we give him business weekly.... They could of separated the tables to sit us. I was looking for sashimi in the area and ended up here on a Friday night. They were able to seat a party of 6 right away. They only gave my table one menu and an order form to select our choices. They also handed us a book filled with photos. I was debating between ordering a chirashi or sashimi and when I asked what was in the spicy they just said it had spicy sauce and that was it. My party ordered a variety of sashimi which all tasted fresh. They had a happy hour menu but it was not enticing. What seems to be unique about this place is that they offer a small selection of gluten free rolls and rolls without rice. read more
