I had the following project done on Friday and SWAT has sent me a text message and email every day since then asking for a review! So I thought I would leave one. A few weeks back I had the idea for a project for my GR Corolla. I wanted to add fog lights and had thought up a plan for how I wanted them installed. I don't personally have skills with electronics and stuff so I called around a few shops with my research in mind. I found that Rob was easy to chat with over the phone, he spent the time checking if the parts I'd bring in were something he was comfortable using for the install, etc. I provided some requirements: this plan doesn't require bumper removal, I would like the wiring and routing to the battery in the hatch. I also asked about using an OEM style switch, etc., and he was cool ordering one for me to install along with the lights. He then said he'd make the quote for 4 hours but said it likely wouldn't take that long because it shouldn't be as much work as a Sequoia or other larger Toyotas these days and they do stuff like this all the time. Since he sounded the most knowledgeable and the reviews here and on other sites are great, I figured I could trust SWAT with the work. After 4 hours of labor on Friday, it was time to pick up the car. Rob showed me the switch install and called out the trim was now marred from the install (see attached pics). I wasn't sure what that meant at first but then saw it was incredibly bad. He explained the blank switch area they used had to be cut out but they didn't know at first and had damaged it trying to pop it out. Rob said it shouldn't be too bad because it's not really in sight, and said something like "maybe you could use a warm hair dryer to soften the plastic and fix it". I was a bit taken aback at that point and confused. I've had the car two days now since then and every time I need to find the button by tactile feel my fingers brush the rough jagged edges. This is worse than if I could see the scuffs/gash in the trim. I'm honestly really disappointed about this. I knew going in the blank switch may need to be cut out but I assumed a shop that's used to this kind of install work would make cleaner cuts/file down any rough edges? I also found out they wired the lights to the engine bay jump terminal despite my original request. Rob told me the work would have taken too long and too much effort -- odd, because I was originally told that larger Toyota hybrids are more work and this shouldn't be complicated since it's a smaller car. The install was pointed out to me in the engine bay. I noticed the wiring harness cables from the lights were just kind of dangling in front of my car's intercooler without really being routed cleanly. They also still billed me for materials to extend the harness' length and left it coiled in the engine bay since they decided not to route them to the hatch. I also don't understand why I laid out my project specifications, was told they could do this, and then they went ahead and spent 4 hours of labor doing a much lesser install. Rob didn't call me to ask if it was ok to change plans for wiring or if it was ok to leave the trim marred up. The ironic thing was they posted an instagram story of my car while working on it and said "we can do that!" for the install, and yet.. I'm not sure they took the project seriously since they didn't do most of it the way I had laid it out and seemingly cut corners. More of a nitpick, I didn't consider how the lights and switch would operate. Right now the way they were installed, they're on constant power. So if I park the car and forget to turn off the lights, they'll stay on and kill the battery. If this had been mentioned to me earlier I would've asked about if they could use a fuse or something to set it up so it only stays powered on when the car is in ACC/ignition modes. It seems common sense but I'm not sure. What do I appreciate is they made the brackets I provided work as described, that was very helpful!

I have a non-squatch Big Bend Bronco. I was recommended SWAT Customs by someone I met on the Bronco forums. Rob and his crew were amazing from start to finish. I initially went in looking for Kumho tires and a spacer lift, but after discussing my goals, Rob recommended Kenda Klever tires and Bilstein shocks to improve not just the stance but also the ride quality and handling. I also added in new 18" wheels. The team installed the wheels, tires, and shocks, and the work was done to perfection. While it ended up taking longer than expected, Rob and his team stayed well past 5 PM on a Friday to make sure the job was completed. They used Vision Warrior wheels paired with Kenda Klever AT/2 tires and Bilstein 5100 shocks. I'm thrilled with the results--it's exactly the look I wanted, and the Bronco handles beautifully on both highways and gravel roads. I'll absolutely be returning to SWAT Customs for any future upgrades. Their expertise and dedication to customer service are absolutely outstanding.

Just needed some riveted crossmember torsion brackets removed from my frame. Normally I do things myself but this time I didn't have the proper tools or a big enough air compressor to get the job done. Rob squeezed me in on a Friday and got the job done. I was recommended S.W.A.T. Customs from a person I randomly met. I am very grateful for that recommendation. Rob and his crew was amazing from start to finish. I first went in for a consultation to just have leveling blocks put in the front end. After consulting with Rob and telling him my overall plans to add a steel front bumper and a winch, he educated me on what options would work best. He suggested going with the Bilstein 5100 Shocks and Rancho Control Arms. He said that this will support the weight of the bumper and the winch. He gave me a quote with all the part numbers and individual prices of each part so I can research it myself. After doing extensive research, Rob was absolutely correct. I recently had them do the shocks and control arms. The work was done in the time promised and was done perfectly. Rob scheduled a follow up appointment to make sure the torque on all the parts will hold. That appointment is this Thursday. This shop is A GRADE. Rob does a great job answering all questions you have, advising on mods you're looking to get and recommending brands you didn't even know about. My truck was ready earlier than expected but I was able to pick it up at my earliest convenience. Excellent customer service and had the best pricing from the 3 off-road shops I called! Ordered and picked up my 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD off-road in Bronze Oxide in June. Previously interviewed several shops to change out tires, rims and eventually to lift the truck. My search came to a screeching halt when I connected with Rob. Rob's knowledge and expertise showed. And he was a pleasure to talk shop with. Rob preordered my rims and tires months in advanced and was prepared to install the them the day after my truck was delivered. He also reserved the Radflo coilovers and Icon upper control arm so I'd get them as soon as they were manufactured. Their workmanship looked great and it showed in appearance and performance. I'm very impressed and happy with the outcome of this build and would highly recommend Rob and his team!

After a bad experience at another local shop, I was out searching for another truck shop to help lift my new Taco. Came across this place with great Yelp reviews and decided to give it a shot. I had ordered a full Icon suspension with 33s and 16' wheels. I was itching to get this thing on. Rolled into the shop and dropped off my car. The guys here are pretty cool and gave me a lot of info about the lift. Bonus is the short walk to the Warm Springs BART so you can just hop on after dropping off your car. After a few hours, they called me to pick up my truck. And bam! What a sweet thing to see. It was finally lifted about 2" on 33s. The shop manager explained what they did and informed me that there was some rubbing going on in the front. Which was what I expected. I liked that he didn't push my on getting a cab mount chop, because he told me I could get away with it if I cranked the front coilovers up a little and didn't do any hardcore offroading. If I could do it over again though, I would pass on the alignment. First off, I ended up adjusting the fronts up another inch. And I didn't take into account the "settling" of the suspension. And my local dealer does alignments for $80! I'll be back when I eventually move up to 35s. I ended up getting an older Accord to use as my daily while my nice Taco is my weekend cruiser and toy.

Choosing SWAT Customs was an easy decision for lifting my GX460. They were located right down the street and Brian and the rest of the staff were real helpful and professional. Ended up going with a Toytec BOSS Aluma Series kit with SPC upper control arms. I brought in my own wheels. They supplied the tires and did the rest. Honestly I could not be happier with the results or the experience. I've never had a more professional and easy vehicle service experience than I did with SWAT. George is the man, if you have a vehicle that needs to be raised or lowered, SWAT is a place you should consider. The shop is small and easy to miss so definitely get your "google maps" on before going. You can bring your own springs or George can get them for you at a very competitive rate. Did I mention he charged me $$$ less then every one else for labor or that they are open 7 days a week? There's a mini mall 0.5 miles down the street so you can can get your grub instead of waiting in the shop. Look for George ( owner) he will take care of you and your ride, check out the pics of all the vehicles they've worked on (including my Audi A4;) this should tell you that he knows his $#!t......give him a call no excuses left not to lower your ride. Great job from them. I wanted to get some running boards installed on my pickup truck. Sending pictures back and forth over e-mail they helped me pick out what we finally decided we wanted. We agreed on the price. I put down a deposit, showed up with my truck in a couple of days, and every thing was done in maybe an hour and a half. Only thing is that it does take a few moments to figure out where they are actually located the first time there. Hint: Look for the 4X4 truck out front that has "SWAT" painted on it. read more

Just wanted to say a big Thank You to Brian and the guys at SWAT Customs. I had been looking for a place to get a 6" lift with wheels and tires. Emailed them requesting a quote and they answered the same day with a quote that was unbeatable. Brian and the crew at SWAT got me what I wanted and more. They went above above and beyond. My 13' GMC Denali now has a 6" Fabtech lift kit with 20" DC wheels and 35" Cooper tires. This is definitely the place to go if you want your truck lifted, my dad wanted a basic 3" lift and I called and talked to Brian and told him exactly what my dad wanted Brian didn't try to sell me a full suspension kit like couple other shops wanted too, We made an Appt to drop off the truck Wednesday Brian and his team had the truck ready the very next day. Hello, I was looking to get my FJ Cruiser lifted so, I started looking around the internet for 4X4 shops that do lift kits. After pricing out a few places I found SWAT Customs, I called and talked to George (the owner) he gave me a great price that was lower than any other bid I received. I took my truck in on Friday morning at 8 AM and got it back at 5 PM. Because I didn't have my new 35" tires I needed to take my truck to a tire shop for mounting and balancing. George had to do some cutting on the Chassis to make the tires fit without rubbing (as stated on the install manual). I was really worries about hacking the chassis of my Fj, but now that it's done...it looks great. In fact, if I didn't know that he cut the chassis and re-welded it, I would never have guessed. I want to thank George for the great work that he did in a very timely manner. I am VERY happy that I found SWAT... they did a great job for the best price I could find on-line. I took my 98 Tacoma here to get my 3" suspension and 2" body lift installed. I was going out of town for the weekend and dropped it off to have George work on it. George did a great job on the install and for a fair and reasonable price. I've been getting compliments every where about the clean setup on my truck! I've been using George (Swatt Customs) since about 2004 right after I bought my 2004 F350 King Ranch 4x4. I live up in Sonoma County and I use George for all my serious suspension, running gear, shocks, brakes, ball joints, etc. Where it is critical. George is very experienced and has done it all before, he's a qualified Truck Mechanic. By the way, my business is Engineering Construction where I am on the freeway driving to Fresno or LA at 3 AM on my way to a 10 AM meeting, then driving the freeway looking at sites in heavy traffic off the shoulder, in the dirt. Sometimes up in Tahoe where the snow is deep and slippery. I depend on my truck, and I depend on George. You'll never regret choosing Swatt for whatever truck work yo'd want done. ND, he's honest and reasonable, try that at your dealer?? No comment.. read more

This place rocks! They did an amazing job at lifting my F-150. Brian was great to work with. I had already bought my parts online, and he was awesome in getting a quote for the install and getting it scheduled. Some shops wouldn't do the install since I didn't buy the kit from them, but Brian said they'd do it, no problem. The truck looks awesome and couldn't be happier! These guys are great! I had them install a toytec kit on my 4runner that I had purchased myself on black friday. I had called a few places for pricing and SWAT Customs had the best price for installation and alignment. Few months ago I finally decided to upgrade my suspension for my 4Runner trail with kdss. Due to limited space at home and limited knowledge on KDSS, I wanted to look for a shop that could perform the task. I've contacted few shops around the bay but none gave me confidence that could do what I specifically wanted. After few weeks of searching, I've decided to contact SWAT custom. The communication was smooth and easy due to Brian's excellent customer service. Right before 17 Christmas, I dropped the truck there and was ready to pick up the next day. Last week, I had taken my truck to a "4 Wheel" shop in San Jose and gotten a quote, which I thought was a bit on the pricey side, so I decided to look around for a better price. I stumbled upon George K.'s post under SWAT Customs on craigslist offering suspension services for cars/trucks. So today, I called George and asked if I could bring in my truck for a quote. I had in hand a copy of the diagnosis of my truck and just thought id give it to George for his review. Little did I know what I was goin to expect... I arrived at his shop. George told me to drive my truck inside and no sooner had my truck off the ground with a jack and began inspecting underneath my truck. George handed me a flashlight and began showing me the problems AND discovering other problems too that the other shop had failed to discover. Once all said and done, George gave me a full detail of what was wrong with my truck and in his professional opinion what I oughta do about it. What IMPRESSED me was 1) He took the time to inspect my truck and pointed out problems WITH an explanation. 2) ensured that the "other shop" wasn't trying to add unnecessary costs. 3) George was PROFESSIONAL and DID NOT feed me any bullsh*&t. He assured that SWAT Customs price would be fair and reasonable. All this was done within a 30 minute span. The "other shop" had my truck for most of the day! George promised a quote for me which he emailed me a couple of hours later. The quote for the job-to-be done IS reasonable and his willingness to make accomodations for the service is a plus. George never charged me for inspecting my truck. He was clear on what I needed and nothing else. It was like having a free consulation with an attorney. Having said ALL of this (LOL), I think I will give SWAT Customs my business in the days to come. All I need to do is gather up all my pennies and schedule a time to bring my truck in. I had George install a set of H&R springs on my Mazda 2 and I couldn't be happier with the service. Dropped it off in the morning and he had it all done at the time we agreed on. I will definitely be a return customer as I also have a truck that needs suspension work. SWAT Customs is one of the best shops ever. Real easy to deal with and unbeatable prices as far as installation. This was my first time here and George, the owner, is a real knowledgeable and great guy to talk to. If I knew about this shop before I would've gone here a long time ago for all my truck needs.... I brought my truck in to get it raised up, since I have adjustable drop struts. And he only did it within an hour, where other shops would've taken 3 hours. Quick service, cheap prices, great work... it gets no better than that!!! read more

George is a man who stands behind his work, and when you trust your pride and joy with anyone, you know that nothing means more than a shop that takes care of you....rather than just try to take your money. Although they specialize in 4x4 mods, I took my 86 mustang in for a rear end rebuild, and it came out perfect. They charge less than most shops, and they make sure that the work is done right. They work hard and they are nothing but friendly. Highly recommended! read more

Called these guys on putting a simple leaf spring lift on my Jeep Wagoneer and changing out the axles to Dana 44's I had all the parts freshly taken off a friends running and driving rig. Talked with Brian who was pleasant on the phone and asked for pictures to be sent. No problem gathered those up and sent them. He said he would call right back, then nothing. Called and left message, two more days nothing, then called again. Got Brian on the phone and he said yea he looked at it, can he call me back they were busy. Ok waited another day, nothing. Called again and got Brian and said did he look at the photos, he said yes. I then asked are you interested in this job, if not thats cool just let me know. He said "Or course we are" but can I call you back I have customers and I said sure, just please do I have to return the truck holding the parts this week so I need to make a call on bringing down the parts. Brian said sure thing....and still nothing. Moral of the story here is that customer service is the first impression of a shop, or anything for that matter. It's where you build a new customer partnership. If you can't get this first step right, thats just the tip of the iceberg for what is coming down the road. Kinda disrespectful and they don't even know who I am in there industry thats the funny part. read more

Had my 98 4Runner in for a lift. All communication was through the phone/email and it went smoothly. I am extremely satisfied with everything done to the car. New wheels, tires, shocks, springs, and additional suspension parts that make the car much more capable off road. I even had some servicing done to 20 year old parts such as lower ball joints and rear axle seals. This shop can do it all. The car turned out better than I expected. These guys are the best ever. They are wonderful humans and so extremely honest. Rob started his career as a mechanic after graduating from Wyotech in 2006 with a degree in automotive sciences and 6 ASE certifications. He has been in management rolls since 2013, and has the knowledge and unique expertise required to help his customers make informed decisions. Rob's goal isn't just to sell you parts, it's to help you understand and maximize the investment you're about to make. He's owned a long list of modified vehicles, including several track cars, a lifted Forester XT, a rock crawling FJ Cruiser, and an overlanding Nissan Frontier PRO4X. June 26, 2026 I called earlier this morning to see if I can come in at 5pm for a repair, nail in the tire. After work of course. The guy whom I spoke to, again friendly said he could help for sure but it would be better to make an appointment. I said I don't see the point of making an appointment since their team doesn't get to the people who have appointments on time. Had another experience for an 8am appointment and they didn't get to me for 40 minutes after Intaking people and talking for so long. He said that must have been a one off and they try to get everyone out in under an hour. I said I'll make the appointment but I don't want to wait 1.5 hrs for a repair. It's not fair to me to have to just wait. He makes an appointment at 4pm. 4pm rolls around, I'm there at 4:05pm. Traffic in Fremont is bad at that time. They didn't intake (see me) at my appoint until 4:45......... Then they look at my tires goes and talks to their team who says it'll be ready at 5:45pm. AGAIN!!!!! WHAT IS THE POINT OF THE APPOINTMENT IF YOUR NOT GOING TO HONOR THE APPOINTMENT!!!! Anyways....what their team needs to do is stop allowing customers to stand there looking at each tire on the website deciding which one they want. An employee acknowledges I am there. Another employee says someone will be out. I waited at least 13-15 minutes before I realized--I need to go back to work! All in all--I spent 25 minutes driving around to two different locations. I sat in my car waiting and did not get any air in my tires. I drove back to work with the signal still on my dashboard. Very disappointing experiencing at both locations but especially Union City.

In June 2025, I needed to get my brake pads replaced. Instead of taking it to my trusted mechanic, I thought "Les Schwab specializes in this sort of thing so they must be the pros." I was wrong. Les Schwab is a sales machine that happens to work on cars, and not even that well. Instead of quoting for pad replacement and brake bleeding, they insisted that their policy only allows pad changes to be accompanied by rotor and caliper replacement. I've done brake work on cars and motorcycles but I felt it was difficult to argue with someone who does it professionally. After meticulously bedding in the pads, they started to squeak. In September of that same year I was able to carve out some time and have the squeak addressed. The looked at it and sanded it down for an hour. I asked them what caused it and the technician basically told me he didnt know. After a week it started squeaking again. I couldnt bring it back to get the squeak addressed (again) until August 2026 because I was working a contract job and didnt have the flexibility to take unpaid leave. They had the car for 3 hours. They found a leaky piston and replaced it since it was under warranty. Then upon handing the car back, I drove off and immediately noticed that the brake pedal required twice the distance to press to stop. I even had to adjust my seat to get full travel. I brought it back and asked them to bleed it. They said they already did, but would do it again. They had me wait an hour before it went back into the bay to be serviced (I felt they were waiting for me to just say "Forget it" and leave). They brought the car out after being in there for less than 15 minutes. I pressed the brake and told him it felt the same. He said "I mean we can bleed it a third time but it'll be the same. It stops good." At that point I had enough of the slow service, technicians giving me half answers. I suspected that when they replaced the single leaky caliper, they only bled that side. Two days later I took my car to Anson in Fremont. Told them the situation. They put it on a lift, bled all 4 wheels twice. The mechanic had me do a test drive while he was in the passenger seat. It felt right. Thanks Anson, and no thanks to Les Schwab. Never taking my car there again, even if it is warranty work. btw, they asked me to fill out a survey. I gave them my honest take (not just all bottom scores, but definitely below average). And then the last question was "would you like to be contacted about this review" and I said yes and selected "by email". they called me and I told them I had selected "email". He said, "well we're already on the phone. Want to just talk about it?" Talk about gas lighting. No thanks.

Seamlessly functioning, capable and knowledgeable. Joe, the owner, is really good at describing exactly how things will turn out. If you own a Tesla or any high-end car and care about quality, this is absolutely the place to go. Joe, the owner, is always welcoming and clearly pours his passion into the business. You can tell immediately how much he values his team. He treats his staff like family, and it shows in their work. Everyone there genuinely enjoys what they do, and they really do live up to the "OCD" name when it comes to attention to detail. I learned the hard way that not all highly rated Yelp shops deliver real quality. After going to another popular place, a friend pointed out several issues in the work that I had completely missed. Never again! I would much rather pay for top-tier service and have peace of mind than worry about fixing problems later. Most recently, I had a front PPF and tint done on my Tesla, and the results were flawless. OCD Detailing is one of the few places capable of tinting the entire Tesla roof using a single piece, with no seams, and it looks incredible. They were also kind enough to help install hub caps I purchased separately and recommended a great source for blacked-out emblems. My car turned out beautiful. The only downside is that I live in San Francisco, so the drive is a bit out of the way, but it was absolutely worth it. I recommend OCD Detailing to all my friends whenever they're looking for high-quality PPF or tinting. If you care about your car, this is where you take it.

I had a terrible time with the gentleman who owned the shop in front of theirs, who lied and told me I was in the right place, which wasn't corrected until I called Fremont Auto Center looking for an update. Jack personally went next door to check on my car, and offered me 10% off repairs. I was told I could drop my car off the next day without needing another appointment. I met Sal, who has such a wonderful and charming personality, and it was great to meet Jack in person, too. Within an hour, I had the full analysis and estimate, and around 2:30, a couple of hours before closed, I was called and told the car wouldn't be finished, and asked if I'd like to come pick it up for the weekend (which I declined, we didn't need it!). The prices were fair, and their system of telling you what absolutely needs work versus what they recommend to be worked on was so great in helping me understand what was wrong with the car. My experience with them made me tell my husband that I'd drive to them if we ever moved out of the area. I can't recommend this place enough (just make sure you drive all the way to the green building and dont let anyone stop you like I did!)

- George is a honest guy that does great work. It's nice to have no worries when I drop off or stop by for some work to be done on my vehicles. He has performed a lot of suspension work for me. Installed a full 6" Fabtech suspension lift on my Ford F250, for my 2004 Rubicon Jeep - installed a Currie CURRECTLYNC® STEERING SYSTEM, 3.5 RE Super flex (with adjustable Track Bars), Smitty built Bumpers & Tire carrier, BFG KM2's, Ninth Degree Belly & Oil Pan skids. Lowered my 2007 F150. All work has been trouble free. I'm a picky guy and would not recommend George if I had any doubt about his capabilities. Suspension work is expensive and George always charges fair prices, especially for the quality work! If you want suspension work done for free, do it yourself, it you want it done well at a fair price take it to George... He is the man! read more

Was looking to get my car lowered. After coming across swat customs I checked yelp for reviews and saw alot of people were happy with the services and prices here. I called and George the owner picked the phone up and I explained to him what I wanted to have done on my car. He was real nice and explained what could be done, and gave me a real good price that beat out other places. So I scheduled an appointment and left my car in the morning and picked it up in the afternoon like promised. George did an excellent job on the car. It looks amazing. Its been a couple months since it was lowered and havnt had one problem. If your looking to get suspension work or new tires on your car, I def recommend S.W.A.T. customes. I just took my 2002 tacoma double today 8/8/2010 to these guys and had them do a 2.75 inch lift front and back. This shop is great my only day off is Sunday and they were opened. I had been given quotes from Stockton all the way to Fremont to lift my 2002 tacoma double cab they were all what I felt was high. I asked the guys at S.W.A.T if they could match it or beat it and they did. BY FAR!! These guys are great very friendly service a ((can do attitude)) No complaints at all they did the job they did it right they know off road stuff thats for sure! I'm disappointed with the recent service I received at your shop. I expected a higher level of quality and professionalism, especially considering the significant cost of the bumper installation. Unfortunately, the installation was not completed to the standard I anticipated. I've reached out to your shop hoping for a different response. George does great work for way less than the chains and other shops I've been to. He did the camber kit on my Mustang and performance parts on my Frontier. I now bring all my cars to him for any performance or suspension upgrades and regular maintenance. Plus he is available 24/7. Also, like the other review mentioned, Mission Blvd. is a block away and has tons of restaurants to eat or wait at. read more

The ease of finding a 7AM appointment was key for me. Brought in my 2019 4Runner fr a wheel alignment. They told me it would about two hours and they actually finished in less than 1.5h I really appreciated the accuracy and attention to the detail while they perform the alignment . Also immensely liked that they would explain every single step of the process. They also found a couple of unrelated minor issues with the truck but they never tried to push additional services.
