Went here for lunch with my good friends. I've been intending to visit for a while and never got here before they closed. Well, today I was blessed with Sweet Art. I had the "make it funky" burger with kale salad as a side. The burger was so tasty I didn't even care that it was all vegan and the love & magic dressing on the kale was yummy too. I honestly would buy that dressing if they ever bottle it. Seating reminds me of elementary school, long tables with shared napkins and silverware. I guess you get to have more conversation and meet more people this way? Either way, seating is comfortable and there's enough space for about ~30 people at any given time. You place your order at the counter and you're given a number for your table. Food selections are delivered to you. You want to order your dessert with your lunch to ensure you get the selected item. It's first come, first served and they don't restock. For my dessert selections I had a birthday cake, fauxstess, banana's foster, and salted caramel cupcakes. All of them were delicious. I think the birthday cake was my favorite, but they're all good. I went in on a Wednesday at 1:30PM, the place was slow and plenty of seats open. The brownies and cinnamon rolls were sold out (what we came to get) so we had lunch instead. Sweet Burger 8/10-- Not my favorite, the sauce is magic sauce (good sauce) and ketchup (which seems too familiar for customers wanting something new). I will definitely add onion rings or something next time. Southwest Burger 10/10 --great use of texture and flavor. Kale side salad 11/10 --my favorite thing of the both dishes... their sauce has garlic or onion in it, making the dish more flavorful. Ambiance 10/10 --friendly workers, wonderful art. I wish they would just bake more brownies and cinnamon rolls because it seems like they run out all the time. This cute joint has delicious vegan food. They are known for their cakes, but don't miss their breakfast and lunch options. I ordered the fried chicken salad, but replaced the chicken with cauliflower bites. The salad was good but it was a bit too much dressing. I added some more spring mix when I got back to my apartment. I also got the fudge brownie as a treat to myself and it was very dense and moist. A house-made vegan patty on house-made wholewheat bun. So good it's made "The Search for the Perfect Veggie Burger" collection. We also shared a black bean nachos plate - huge and delicious. Cupcake heaven. Never thought I'd crave cupcakes as much as I am right now, but Sweet Art does the trick. The red velvet cupcakes are my favorite, mainly because of the tangy cream cheese frosting, and the carrot cake cupcakes are second. The Hummingbird is also amazingly good with little specs of pineapple in it... it almost tastes like something close to banana bread. Each one is so, so, so good and you can taste the freshness. Really random, but on my last trip there they had these pizza slice things... I'm sure there's a better name for them, but they were like individual pizza scones almost, but obviously not sweet. They had a vegan version which I didn't try, but the one I had was topped with so many amazing cheeses and a tomato-y homemade sauce. It was cold which I thought would be weird, but everything about it was satisfying. I really love this place. I especially love all the handwritten signs everywhere (sharpie on computer paper, awesome.) If you can spot it, they wrote on the wall in chalk, "don't be afraid to shine." I have been to SweetArt before, and enjoyed the coffee and ambience, but now that I've started to eat plant-based, it is great to find a place that so thoroughly caters to my cravings. There's lots of colorful art hung on the walls, all created by who I believe are local artists. Menus are along the wall on scrolls of paper right as you walk in, and there's always a solid selection of cupcake and pastry/sweets variety in the display case. There's free WiFi too! Only downfall I can think of is that you often walk out smelling like the back of the kitchen, but other than that it's always very well-kept. Service - Like I said, everyone is always so friendly and greets you with a warm welcome. I'm writing this as the snow 'storm' is still happening, and even as there's still snowfall piled up in the streets, the staff who live nearby were still willing to go in and keep the place open today - that, to me, just goes to show how awesome these people are! So I'll start by saying I'm sure this isn't typical, but more of a result of the crazy circumstances we're currently living in... 1st warning sign - I ordered online and was notified that my order would be ready for pickup after 2 hrs and 35 min. I submitted my order at 10:58 and was told to arrive "after 1:35 pm". 2nd warning sign - When my order was brought to my vehicle, it seemed light, so I peaked inside to be sure all my items were there. Unfortunately, I was indeed missing an item. I caught the attention of a runner and let her know. She went inside and returned to tell me they were sold out of that item and that I'd get a refund for the cost of that item in 3-5 days. She then, again I'm unfortunately being literal, threw two cookies in my bag for the inconvenience. 3rd warning sign - When I checked the bag as noted above, I saw my sandwich was 2/3 of the way unwrapped in the bottom. Unsurprisingly, when I got home to eat, it was quite cold and "meh" at best. 4th warning sign - Remember the tossed cookies? I tried to piece them back together as best I could, but they were both in numerous pieces and melty blobs. I will admit I did mush one into a couple little "cookie balls" and they tasted great. So overall, I'm sure I'll give them another shot if/when dining is "normal" again, but I will definitely steer clear while curbside service is the norm. I know small businesses have to do what they can to stay afloat during these times, and I try to support small when I venture out, but we have to be able to do better than this, or a negative reputation is going to build up. read more

SweetArt has been one of those places that I've been meaning to try for the longest time, but just hadn't done so. With the current pandemic leaving the future of so many small businesses I thought now is as good as ever to support some local restaurants.
