We were a party of 9, so when I walk in, I'm already a bit anxious to ask for a table that size since it'll mean that they'll need to combine two tables and it's a larger party, so it's more work. When I walk in, the guy asks how many. I tell him 9, and he actually scoffs and rolls his eyes LOL. I'm like uh ok, whatever. We go over to two tables in the back, we're split up by a gap no wider than two feet. When we try to join the tables, he shakes his head and just says no no no. HOWEVER, shortly after we're seated, I see a table across the restaurant, joining their tables together (and they're a larger party than us). Rude af We ask the other lady who was working there if we can join our tables too, and she's like oh yeah, that's fine. Wtf lol. And so then when the guy takes our order, he's super unhappy, breathing heavy as if he's tired of us already. See, I've been here a few times and I've just ignored their weird service, but this time it was just ridiculous. If you like HK desserts, this place will satisfy your cravings. They also have a Durian series of desserts! Those who understand the smelliest superfood in the world will be so happy that they carry this exquisite fruit and it's integrated into a variety of sweets. I am floored by their Durian pancake! It is perfection in my opinion and not many desserts can elicit a response out of me. Worse dessert I ever ate! The takoyaki is hard on the outside and super liquidity inside. It tastes like it is not fully cooked. The staff literally said they just reheat The frozen takoyaki. I was extremely disappointed and when I talked to the manager about it, she did not offer anything to make our experience better. She said "they won't remake it nor give us any discount since we ate some already." She called this takoyaki "爆浆", a molten lava texture. The manager said it's our fault to not ask about it before we order but how are we supposed to know when takoyaki usually always comes a certain way. We also got a papaya grass jelly that tasted weird as well. It taste like they just opened up a can of grass jelly and added two tasteless papaya with a little bit of syrup on top. We were seated right away, but waited almost half an hour before anyone came to take our order, after we flagged someone down. Tables that came in after us were brought water upon being seated, got their food, and were gone long before we were. Once we ordered our food, it was taking a very long time for it to come out. We asked someone to check on our order, and things started trickling out from there, soooo pretty sure they forgot about us. Twice. That being said, I ordered a corn juice (odd, right?) and a plain bubble waffle. Both were great. The waffle had a sort of caramel-y taste to it. The corn juice I'm like 90% sure all they did was open a can of creamed corn and blended it slightly. Oddly enough, I'm not complaining lol. Others in my group got: -mango tofu pudding - it was odd to her at first, but it grew on h er -bubble waffle with strawberries -bubble waffle with ice cream (It took probably close to ten minutes to get someone to bring her a spoon though) -some other dessert that came in a bowl, but I can't remember what it was. Overall, they have a lot of delicious sounding drink options I'd like to go back to try. The waffles were great. The selection of desserts is HUGE. You can find all the great asian dessert flavors here in many different types of forms. The variety actually made it really hard for us to narrow down only two items for the two of us but we were very happy with what we ordered. We got the Mango Pomelo Sago with Matcha Ice Cream and the Half Walnut and Sesame soup with sesame balls. The Mango Pomelo Sago had a generous amount of sago, cut mangos, shredded pomelo bits, and a big scoop of matcha ice cream. I loved this one because I loved all the flavors that it came with plus the matcha ice cream was one of the best I've had. I was surprised to really enjoy the walnut and sesame soup with sesame balls because I don't usually like walnut flavored things but they did this one so well that the texture is incredibly smooth and creamy and the flavor really pairs well with the sesame. The service was very quick and friendly plus there is free parking on the street or in the parking lot attached to the building. It was an easy and great tasting dessert experience. We parked in the free parking lot across the way and walked there easily. We were greeted and seated right away. We really wanted to try the cream cheese one but they didn't have it that day so I got the original and my boyfriend got the matcha. Was looking for a nice place to sit and talk in the middle of the afternoon, and this place hit the spot. With quite an extensive menu, it wasn't easy to decide on what to get. Read other reviews that the souffle pancake was good, but on the menu it said it would take 20-25 minutes to prepare, which I didn't have time to wait for. So we ended up ordering other items: a creme Brule, a mango tofu pudding and a mango sago pudding with grass jelly and pomelo. I also added basil seeds to that, yum...everything tasted good and refreshing. I think most importantly it wasn't overly sweet. Think people who like durian will find a good selection here as well! This place was such a fun experience. I love how it's a dessert place with restaurant vibes. There's options to take to go, but you also have a choice to dine in and enjoy your dessert. My favorite part was the complimentary oolong tea; it definitely provided a nice contrast to the sweets and ice creams that I tried. This is a great Chinese dessert shop and has all of my childhood and current favorites. I've come so many times pre-COVID and have always enjoyed my desserts here. There are a ton to choose from and a lot of variety in terms of flavors, textures, combinations, etc. For the uninitiated, a lot of these desserts will seem strange as its a lot of soup. Mostly warm soups of various goodies. One of my favorites is the black sesame, definitely a common Chinese dessert so if you haven't had it, give it a try. My absolute favorite is the ginger milk pudding, I'm a huge fan of ginger and its such a creamy, warm, spicy dessert. Its surprisingly difficult to make, at least for me, so definitely my recommendation if you want a fun dessert. They also have more "traditional" desserts such as the Japanese souffle pancakes and creme brulee as well so if you aren't ready to delve into the world of Chinese desserts, that's a great way to get your feet wet. The space itself isn't large so there were times waiting for a table was necessary but it was never terrible. During COVID, they've taken measures by blocking off most of the restaurant and having a pick up area for your food. Overall, I think this is a great dessert spot and if you're like me, bring a group of friends so you can share and try various desserts. Ginger tofu pudding... I usually get this at dim sum and its served nice and hot. I was looking forward to a hot tofu pudding and it came out cold. I was confused... I didn't know it was going to be cold which is not how I like it at all. Well honestly the tofu was cold and the ginger syrup was warm so after a while it was just kinda room temp. I wish they offered it both ways and asked how we wanted it. Wouldn't have been difficult to just pop it in the microwave and warm it up. The flavor was good but I didn't like how it was served cold... didn't help it was also a chilly night so I was looking forward to hot tofu pudding. I also tried the mango and grass jelly with vanilla frost. Wow this was weird. First the mango was underripe and firm. If fruit is a main component in a dessert it should be sweet and juicy. The weirdest part was the vanilla frost... it was kinda like ice cream that has melted and refrozen causing it to have crunchy ice crystals. The vanilla flavor was extremely artificial and the texture was offputting. The coldness caused the grass jelly to freeze and become icy instead of tender. I came here with my friends tonight and we were very surprised at how rude the staff were. Especially this one male staff who took our order and delivered it to our table. He was making it very clear that he did not want to work here. We asked for a cup of water but that same rude male staff told us that he cant give it to us because they were closing. The desserts and drinks were okay and thats why i'm giving 2 stars. Seeing all the previous reviews now, it seems like theres a recurring statement regarding rude/bad service. So expect to be treated rudely when you eat here. Also, the restroom is nasty. Straight up disgusting. So if you are especially germaphobic, don't plan to stay long at this place. The seats and walls were pretty dirty too. The store should really work on their cleanliness and also customer service.
