Their baked goods are nice and extremely cheap(most of them are under $3). Coffee is also ok(very Asian and not so strong). I had this steamed Pork/Veg bun with small coffee for $3 total!!! Nothing special, but just nice little place to stop by when you are in the area. One star is missing because some of ladies are a bit rude. Not much customer service in this place. This bakery is close to the Canal street train station which is where I stop by every time before heading back home. With a large selection of different breads, desserts and drinks I think it's probably one of her best bakeries in the area. My favorite is the pineapple cake which only cost $1 and I still want to try so much more from here. It's always busy and the seating is always full so just be aware that you might not get a seat if you want. read more

I'm giving this business one star although it's doesn't deserve it, to me it shouldn't get one, I ordered a custom cake for my newborn's baptism celebration, a moment that was anxiously awaited by all of our friends and family, I'm very disappointed and upset about the service I got for the amount of money that I paid and my baby's cake, when the cake arrived to our hands it was crumbled on it's self, It was completely collapsed, it was completely wrapped in plastic and the was inclosed, when It was picked up the manager of the establishment didn't allow the person to go side the bakery and take it him self instead, the manager took the cake to the car and all he said is to be careful with it knowing that something like this would happen, and lastly what I got was something completely different to what I ordered and that by its self was already upsetting for me, like I said, what I got for what I paid is not worth it. After speaking to the manager and explaining to him what had happened, he refused to work something out with me about resolving this issue, instead Hung up the phone, after trying to call him again and again he still didn't provide me with a way to resolve this issue I strongly don't recommend this place what so ever read more

Caveat- my opinion of a Chinese bakery is mostly based on how good its custard bun is. The baked pineapple custard bun here is outstanding, and enough of a reason to give Sweets a visit. It's crumbly on the outside with angelic custard filling on the inside. And it's pretty big too. Honestly, I enjoyed this $1.40 pastry more than I would enjoy a $40 steak. My friend also raved about his Taro bubble tea if that's your thing. Sweets is reliable, offering more interesting pastries (read: unadventurous but sweet variety of taro + custard, so on) than Fay Da but is definitely on the pricier side for Chinatown. We had a pineapple bun and hot dog egg bun with meat floss. The pineapple bun was good, light and sweet, and personally did not have any of the meat bun given my dietary independence but my friends enjoyed it and ate it quite quickly. The ladies at Sweets will pick out your selections for you (perhaps they had too many people filching or dropping pastries on the ground when trying to pick themselves. Stumbled upon this bakery while walking around looking for a good boba place. Great selection of freshly baked buns, rolls, and other delicious bread items. I got the curry bun and a milk tea boba, which were so satisfying that I went back later on to refuel. This is definitely one of the better cheap eat bakeries in china town. It's also one of the nicest bakeries and carries a large variety of desserts and savory snacks. Be aware though that you have to purchase at least 4 slices to purchase any slices of cake, which didn't make much sense to me but . I would definitely recommend the croissant hot dog. read more

So I wanted to get some steamed pork buns before heading back to Boston and I headed to what used to be dragon land bakery, a place I've visited for years, and it's gone! In its place is sweets. Luckily the setup is the same and the food and pricing is pretty on par with dragon land. It might even be the same owners, aside from the name it's not much different. I got two steamed pork buns and two red bean buns. I like that they offer both steamed and baked pork buns, it's nice to have options! I wasn't hungry when I bought them so I didn't get anything until after it had gone cold, but the steamed pork bun was fluffy and juicy and delicious! Prices are about what they are in other bakeries nearby- I didn't try the pork buns because I was already full when I came food wise, but they looked worth coming back for.
