She got excited. We looked up some on carguru and Platt came up in our search. Their place was few miles down the road so we went down thinking we'd be turned away. Peter was more than happy to accommodate. He let us test drive a couple different models including a Bolt. It really opened our eyes to these vehicles. He talked with us after the test drives and was happy to answer questions, give advice and info on all types of EV's (this was after close mind you). We weren't quite ready to purchase a car yet so we left. Peter's non-pushy attitude and kindness stuck with us. About two months later we decided to pull the trigger. I couldn't think of any other place to look for an EV. We had a list of options we wanted and Peter accommodated us and pulled a bunch of cars from their list. We test drove a couple AWD Nissan Aryia Engage+ e-4orce and really liked them. We went ahead and purchased one. It was a lease return with 15k miles. The EV was in great condition and the price was right. They were generous with our trade in and all the paperwork was very swift. I think we were out of there in under 2 hours. We highly recommend Platt Auto if interested in an used EV. You wont be sorry. They have a lot of different models to choose from.

We ended up driving home in a 2-year-old Ioniq 5, after the best car-buying experience of my life (note: I bought my first car in 1966, so that's 60 years!). What's even more astounding is how helpful they have been after the papers were signed. We bought the night before a bank holiday and ended up changing financing once the banks opened on Monday. Gregg, Jack, and Mike have been super helpful and responsive when there was an issue with the paperwork. These guys are the best, and I won't go anywhere else!!

Today they informed me that my repair was ready to go. And I asked them to provide an Uber for me to take me from my house to the facility so I can pick up my car. It's something they've done EVERY SINGLE TIME IN THE PAST. Now they're telling me, they'll only cover $15 toward the cost of the Uber, and everything else will go on my bill. They said it was a "management decision." Let me just add, this is going to be an expensive repair (over $1000). They did, in fact, charge me the extra $3 for the Uber and when I spoke to the service manager, he threw his arms up and said, this is a company decision. And it's the same at every Volkswagen dealership in the entire Portland area. So lesson number one, don't take your car to the dealer. But it seems to me that any service manager worth their salt would have said something to the effect of "oh, I'm so sorry that you don't like this new policy. Let me take off the $3 charge as a courtesy, as a way to maintain your continued business... Buehler?...Anyone?...Buehler? Pushed into a bad deal: I was pressured into buying a car with front-end damage. 2. Two sales people told me untruths about the car. "The car automatically comes with a 3 year maintenance plan from the manufacturer." I told him that the maintenance plan went away last year. Then he stated he has all his customers spend $4k to get all of their oil changes covered so they would be "Free"! "They have had the same motor in the palisade since 2020 and they actually found a way to up the horse power and torque for 2026." Not correct. They went from 3.8 liter to a 3.5 liter and the numbers went down, not up, in horse power and torque. 3.Text offer: I received a text offer of $7,000 off the MSRP with Costco pricing 4. In-person interaction: I went in to get the numbers all figured out, but they showed me $16,000 over the MSRP with various add-ons. 5. Inconsistent information: Every time I mentioned the number I was told over text, they said it was impossible to get to that number in person. 6. Promises of a better car: They kept promising me that they would get me the car I actually wanted to buy, but they all sold that day, so they could couldn't do a dealer trade. 7. Car I wanted is still for sale: The car I wanted is still available at the other dealership. When I pointed this out, they blamed someone else and never reached out to me again. 8. underestimated taxes and fees: They underestimated my taxes and fees on their offers so the out the door price looks cheaper, which resulted in a $600 difference from what I actually paid. It's important to be aware that they will often understate your taxes and fees to get you into financing.

Earlier that same day we had stopped at Beaverton Kia and unfortunately had a very negative experience there. Walking into Ron Tonkin Gladstone was the complete opposite! Everyone was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about helping us. Tyler especially went above and beyond to make sure all of our questions were answered and that we felt confident in our purchase. I cannot say enough good things about him and the whole team here.     TLDR: They literally…read moreruined a road trip for me and didn't even have the decency of reimbursing for towing or the initial diagnostic. DO NOT TRUST THEM TO DO YOUR MAINTENANCE I bought my Kia from RonTonkin Kia a year ago and returned almost two months ago to use my complimentary oil change. A week later, while on the highway at the start of a long-awaited road trip to Utah, my oil plug fell out -- a catastrophic failure that should never happen after a routine oil change. It left me stranded, stressed out, and forced to miss a hotel reservation we had already paid for. I had to get my car towed to the nearest Kia dealership, Weston Kia, where I was told in no uncertain terms: RonTonkin's service tech failed to properly tighten the oil plug. RonTonkin admitted fault and arranged for the car to be towed to their shop for testing. I was told there would be no cost to me. But Weston Kia would not release my car without someone covering the initial diagnostic fee. I paid it, under the reasonable assumption that RonTonkin would reimburse me later, since they were at fault and I was only in this situation because of their negligence. That was my mistake. While they eventually confirmed there was no engine damage, they dragged their feet for four weeks. I had already submitted a request for reimbursement for the towing and diagnostic charges, which was met with complete silence. When I finally picked up my car, the service advisor (Christian) told me I needed to call Kia corporate to get reimbursed -- which made zero sense. Kia corporate, of course, told me what I already suspected: this is a dealership service issue, and it's entirely RonTonkin's responsibility. When I circled back to Christian, he stalled again before ultimately telling me they wouldn't reimburse any of my costs. His excuse? That I "should have used Kia roadside assistance" for the tow (as if people are thinking clearly when their car breaks down in the middle of a road trip due to someone else's mistake), and that there's "no way" for them to reimburse the diagnostic fee. Unbelievable. This shop cost me hundreds of dollars, tons of time, and a road trip I had been looking forward to for months -- and then refused to take full responsibility. Not only was the oil change done incorrectly, but the customer service afterward was evasive, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. Save yourself the stress and the risk. Avoid RonTonkin Kia Service Center at all costs

Got there, and turns out it's still at the auction in Seattle. They use photos from an old car they had to draw in buyers and when you finally get to see it it'll be a different one. Never heard of such a thing. I have no problems with them buying cars from auctions, but I drove down for nothing, and it would have been a different truck than the photos anyway. They have a large selection. I can't speak to the quality of the cars, but the other reviews don't suggest this is where you want to buy from.

These cars are lemons that are not worth 1/10 of what you'll pay. They also misrepresent and downright lie about the condition of the vehicles. Stereotypical used car salespeople. Never never trust this business. I saved for months to buy a car outright so that I could get me and my kid away from domestic violence. They asked me about why I was buying a car and I told them honestly. We chatted about it, they congratulated me on getting me and my kid free. And then sold me a car that broke down (in the middle of a busy intersection) before I even got home. The repairs would have cost 3x what I paid for the car, minimum. I couldn't even sell it for anything but scrap. The mechanic was shocked that they let me drive it off the lot and said that it was horribly unsafe to drive even a short distance. They saw I was an easy mark. I had never bought a car before because part of my situation was financial abuse and they saw this car was an actual need, an urgent need, and they took advantage of me. I found out the hard way that it is perfectly legal for used car salespeople to lie. There are very very few consumer protections and the words "as is" gives them almost complete immunity from being held responsible in any way. My legitimate fear is that someone is going to get hurt because of these unsafe cars that they're selling. I cannot stress how much I do not recommend anyone trust this business or buy a car here. As a car buying tips in general: -always take someone with you who can help you ask questions -document *everything* including exact wording used by sales people -never buy a car "as is" if you have any other choice (i didn't) -don't assume that they see you as a person. Even if they're really nice, just assume that they see you as a sale because you can never know for sure -you are legally allowed to take the vehicle to a mechanic during a test drive. many do free assessments specifically for cars you might purchase -If you're an open and chatty person, it might be tempting to share information like I did. You may even think it will humanize you to the salesperson. Don't. Keep it professional and reserved if it's not about the car or sale themselves. They can use personal information to identify you as a mark. -always try to get some kind of guarantee, even for an "as is" car. You do have the right to haggle for things such as a short term guarantee that the car will run for x amount of time, etc. I genuinely want to say that I'm sorry to every person who has been a victim of this business.. I'm seeing all of these reviews with similarly horrible experiences. It's not okay and they need to be held responsible.
