This place deserves a swift kick in the butt. I can tell you that the people giving this place five stars don't know what real good food taste like. Very mediocre breakfast. Didn't even have table butter. I asked for some and they gave me tasteless butter from the kitchen.. the kind that cooks use. They do have gluten-free toast which I ordered and when it arrived at the table I giggled at the size. It was miniature size bread and they only give you one slice.... lol, lol, lol. They stopped serving pancakes at 11:30 AM which is ridiculous. They then go on to serve lunch which consists of only 4 (four) items. We were there around 11:45 and saw a few kids around us who were very sad when they heard that they had stopped serving pancakes. I bet most people go out to breakfast to eat pancakes. It was so hot and stuffy inside the cafe that I literally wanted to throw my chair out the window so that we could get more fresh air. The potatoes that we got with our eggs and bacon tasted like they had been fried in old oil and over fried so it tasted like the potatoes had been rolled in sand. And omg, the worst part was that they served Hunts ketchup which tastes like bland sweetened tomato paste... yucky. Or perhaps they used Hunts bottles but poured cheap generic ketchup into the bottles?? My husband ordered a parfait which when arrived to our table, I felt really sorry for him. It consisted of weird yogurt, dried fruit, four fresh berries, no granola and some unidentifiable wiggly lines. Yes wiggly lines. Order it if you dare and you will see what I mean. The one good thing this place serves is really yummy jam. But it didn't come with my meal. I just happen to be looking around and saw that other people had it on their plates so I asked my waitress for it and she came back with some for my miniature slice of gluten-free bread. Not sure if there are any excellent sitdown breakfast places in whitefish but if you are looking for tasty breakfast items I would recommend going to Amazing Crêpes (delicious Nutella crêpe) and Wild Coffee Company that has some good tasting and fresh pastries and scrumptious biscuit sandwiches. Delicious! Cute cafe that delivers. We were there on a Friday morning and it was busy, but we were able to get 2 spots at the long high table in the center of the cafe. People on either side of us, but not so close that it was uncomfortable. Between the 2 of us, we ordered an omelet and the salmon Benny. Both were fabulous! I often don't eat the English muffin, but it was light and the perfect platform for the excess sauce on my plate. Yum! My breakfast partner talked about the omelet for the next 2 days! My only suggestion is to change the hours and days posted on the front door. We would have gone back, but they are closed Mondays. Their sign and Yelp says they're closed Tuesday. One of the chefs made a comment that was not appropriate about my husband having celiac. We ended up getting our own condiments, silverware and it took 15 to 20 mins when we came in at 1:20pm to get a server to acknowledge us. DO NOT EAT HERE. Worst restaurant I've ate at my whole trip in Montana. Waited over 40 minutes for a VERY mediocre menu, (bacon, omelettes, eggs etc) which is fine. But then to also wait 45 minutes for your food, WHEN THE PLACE WAS NOT EVEN PACKED (there was maybe 7 tables total in the place, 3 servers working for 7 tables, and many cooks in the back), our food finally came and the server had gotten one of our orders wrong he noticed it while placing our plate, after such a long wait we said "it's fine we will just eat it" instead of leaving it he ripped it away and insisted on a remake which then took even longer, so one person at our table went without food. When the food finally did come the bacon... it was so raw and see through, slimy .. It was disgusting, completely made me loose my appetite, I told the server that my bacon was raw, and he said *very rudely* "that's just how we cook it, say you want it crispy next time" and everyone else eating with me told him that all of their bacon came out crispy and fine, and he said "be more specific next time!" and walked away. All together we spent almost 3 hours trying to get some very mediocre food, that then came out terrible. Horrible experience. WILL NOT BE BACK. GO TO HUCK'S INSTEAD. The communal table proved to be a good option and we sat there and were served up some good coffee & food. The waitstaff did well despite being pretty swamped. They could have used some extra hands and that's when I snapped this pic of the help babywearing. I'm a proponent of babywearing because I have to do it too. And I'm impressed by this mamas multitasking skills and balance. Could it become dangerous? Sure. Was it? No. I got the biscuits and gravy served with two eggs. The gravy had bacon AND sausage. It was excellent, wholesome and real. I shared with my family and they got The Local and a short stack of huckleberry pancakes. The huckleberry was awesome! And featured some peanut praline I believe. Very yummy and required no syrup. The coffee wasn't refilled and we weren't checked on very often but as I said the staff was a little swamped.
