The meats here are the highest quality and the seasonings and marinades are wonderful. Their Tri-tip is butter tender and loaded with flavor. It's a very good and very long lasting local, one of a kind business with friendly customer service and you just never hear complaints about their meat. I think the building needs upgrading, inside and out, but both of my large (definitely NOT the economy size), carnivorous sons think the meat there is the best. Swingles does also provide an important service to hunters, which my sons are also (sad to say) as well as those who like to grow their own (meat) and I do like the venison salami they've made there in the past. However, they aren't the answer to it all. For instance, last September I was hankering for a fresh turkey and called them. They didn't have any and said nobody would have them that time of year. But then I called our local Raleys who just happened to have a couple due to a customer having ordered one and the fact that they come four in a box. So I lucked out on that occasion, but did feel that Swingles might at least have offered to order one for me, which they didn't. read more

Bought over $80.00 in pork belly as we smoke meat for a hobby. Have purchased from them many times. Young man at the counter went to get them, but was stopped by an older guy, who looked over at me stating he would get them. He took forever, more so then usual. When I got home to brine them and cut them, there was virtually nothing but fat in both pork bellies, with a small vein of meat running through it. Now I know what took the guy so long, he picked through it all giving me what they wouldn't use. What a lousy thing to do to a customer! We have raised beef for over 30 years and the one time we sent our beef to them for butcher, they botched the butchering and we didn't use them again. But because we like to keep as much business locally, thought we would try them again for pork products we like to smoke ourselves. Never again! Hope that last $80.00 we spent in your store was worth losing our business forever. They were very dishonest and it was intentional. read more

We have always done business with this butcher shop from bring our wild game here to be butchered to driving all the way up the mountain from Stockton to buy meat... NEVER AGAIN! They haven't the slightest clue how to treat their customers and made it very clear that they can pick and choose who buys their nasty meat that all tastes the same anyway! Went shopping their today and had about $160 worth of meat and I pick three packs of chicken kabobs when we reached the check out was told that we would be charged more because the price weren't correct on the meat. We let them know we were no longer interested and also thought that they should have just given us the kabobs at the listed price and not only did the owner say that we were trying to steal from him but took the bag of meat out of my hand and said he didn't want to sell to my husband and I sheesh what has this world come to when some can treat the customer as if they are in the wrong but also accuse them of outlandish things what a silly little man that runs the butcher shop in Jackson don't waste your time or money not worth it and definitely never again telling everyone I know and yelp read more

Let me start by saying that this has been my favorite place to get meat for over 8 years now. I always make it a priority to stop at Swingles when I'm in the jackson area, and quite a few times I have made the 40 mile drive for no other reason than I wanted my freezer full of Swingles meats. I love the pre marinated meats, stuffed pork chops, bacon, ect. However today I am less than impressed. I purchased the #2 family pack which is supposed to be $78.00 when the proper weight of each meat is included. Mine was 77.63. when I got home I discovered that they had shorted me 1/4lb hot dogs, nearly 1/2lb on the bacon, 1/5lb on the chicken thighs, and short on the chicken fried steak too. The only item that was over weight was the butterfly chicken (.03 over) Normally this wouldn't be a problem, as they usually increase or decrease the price accordingly... Not today I guess since I only recieved 37 cents off. Another issue is that on 4 out of 10 packs of gound beef the packaging was broken with raw meat exposed. I really don't know what else to say except maybe I should have went to costco instead. read more

Swingles holds on to a level of customer service that seems to have been lost these days. I can't think of the last time that I have had such a great level of service. I have been going there for years and am willing to drive 40 minutes one way for their quality of meat and high level of customer service. No matter how busy the store is, each person is greeted and asked if they need anything. I have ordered special cuts of meat there and over the phone, which are always exactly how I asked for them. They meat is fantastic, tri-tips, bacon . . . The list goes on and on, but what I love from there is the fillet. I have never had a better fillet. Everyone talks about their beef - and it deserves praise - but we absolutely love their sausages - they have no preservatives, so you buy them frozen. The garlic jalapeno is one of our long time favorites, but they also create some very uncommon sausages with various combinations of meat (lamb sometimes), wine, cheese, etc - Throw them on the grill for a fantastic easy meal. They are great as is - they don't need any condiments. If cooking them in a pan, they are so low in fat, that you need to add oil. Have always gotten good product and service except for last Saturday July 2nd,Girl helping us was rude and not friendly at all. We asked for two hand cut rib eye steaks, we were not shown steaks before they were wrapped, after we got home and unwrapped them to cook we found that one steak was 1 inch and was good quality, the other was 1/2 inch thick and looked like a strip steak. We were very disappointed! We are regular customers to this establishment and will not be buying steak from here again. We feel like we weren't treated properly and we were ripped off on steaks. First of all as a faithful customer I would like to say that Don.s guy is ignorant. I've been shopping here for years and there is no better butcher shop in all of Ca!! If there was a problem with the box special I'm sure Swingles would have gladly fixed it if you would have brought it to their attention. I bought a couple box specials before and both times 1 box was a little under and one was a little over . When I asked an employee how come the price didn't match the ad he stated that sometimes a meat product might be a little heavier or lighter so the price might fluctuate a little bit. And seeing as how the ad says weights may vary that was a completely fair answer . As for the hot dogs every single package is exactly 1 pound so the only way a package of hotdogs would be shy a quarter pound is if you ate a couple on the way home . When you get a # 2 box special for $78 that is the total price discount included. I'm sure the price would be in the high 80s or low 90s without the discount. And if something was missing out of the box like a chicken fried steak I'm positive you didn't get charged for it so it wouldn't be getting ripped off. I'm guessing don.s Is one of those people you can't please no matter how hard you try. Swingle meat company is a very honest company with wonderful customer service, and they go out of there way to make sure we are happy.
