My girlfriend had been wanting to go here for awhile now after hearing about it from friends and reading some local reviews. So, this last Saturday we went. We started with a "flight" of waffles. (Side note: a flight consists of three waffles, which actually is three quarter waffles cuts from a full waffle. Why don't they just give us the fourth waffle??? That bugged me...) The "flight" came out on a nice plate along with four mini containers of homemade syrups including; apple, strawberry, apricot and maple (with much fancier and witty names - but these were the base flavors.) The waffles were perfect and crispy and all four of the syrups were very tasty. As we sat and chatted while waiting for our order, we noticed that the acoustics were very loud. There was nothing in the dining room to absorb sound, everything was of a hard surface material. While looking at the pretty and ornate ceiling panels, the manager stepped in to fill our water glasses and said, "I glued each and every one of those by hand. This place also use to have carpet, who puts carpet in a restaurant?? I took it out." That was an interesting observation the owner had of us us chatting and talking about how loud it was. I made a comment about how he should put some wall art pieces in or dropped ceiling panels made of sound absorbing material to reduce the noise. He said he was working on it and we smiled as he walked away. Back to the food: I ordered the Thanksgiving Sandwich and my girlfriend ordered The Eggs Benedict. Right before we ordered, we ran into a friend and she recommended the Eggs Benedict. We rarely turn down a recommendation. I also heard about the Thanksgiving Sandwich and needed to try it. (Pictures attached.) This sandwich is large and in charge. A huge open faced sandwich covered in stuffing, (the size of my head) mashed potatoes, six to seven layers of thickly sliced turkey and then covered in gravy. If that was not enough, there is a pile of perfectly thin cut sweet potato fries seasoned just right. My girlfriend's EB was wonderful and there was no need for a take home container. As for my Thanksgiving Sandwich, I DID need a take home container. I am sure as most Thanksgiving dinners, that there are a lot of left overs, the same is true here. I took home a huge meal and enjoyed it again for lunch the next day. Syrup is a great place for breakfast in Cherry Creek. We really enjoyed seeing large families, along side couples, along side groups of college kids medicating the effects from the club the night before. With all of these diverse groups enjoying the same food, they are doing something right. Four stars to Syrup, I needed just a little bit more for that fifth star - but not much. read more

I've been here a few times for lunch - and it's always great to have breakfast! Who doesn't love smashed tator tots? The decor is cute and friendly and also spacious. Service is usually prompt and friendly as well. I usually will get the Kitchen Sink without the gravy. I find that the biscuit is usually pretty dry for some reason - but its a tasty dish. Also the Benedicts are good - but I always get them without the sauce as well; nice combo of flavors. read more

As I stated to my dining compatriot, you can tell a lot about a restaurant by their fruit cup. This one was filled with the standard cantalope, grapes and pineapple. Nothing at all unique or even that good. That's kind of how I feel about Syrup. I'm not entirely certain how people go crazy for the place since my two meals there have been fairly average. The service was very friendly and attentive, so I really appreciate that, but I think, given their location, they could up their game a little more. read more

After returning to Syrup many times over the last year, I remain a fan. In fact, I've taken several business colleagues to breakfast here and found that it's the perfect place for these types of meetings. The service has remained decent, and the good quality of the food hasn't changed. The noise level is also not so overwhelming that you can't have a decent conversation. Most recently, I took my boss's boss here. She's a big fan of French Toast, and raved about the way this restaurant prepares it - especially the side of syrupy strawberries, which, surprisingly, isn't overwhelmingly sweet. She walked away happy and in a good mood to start the rest of our day. Score one for the underling! Heh heh... So, Syrup - keep maintaining quality and we'll keep coming back. read more

Snooze had a 1 hour wait so we scooted over to Syrup since we hadn't been there before. So sorry we did. The young host was the only positive thing about this place - he was very friendly. Our server was horrible. My husband guessed that perhaps she is related to the man who seemed to be the owner or manager? She would not look at nor speak to me - only to my husband - which was mostly just annoying. However, she also only refilled his drinks. So weird! I've never experienced anything like it and I think it made my husband more uncomfortable than me - such a poor way to treat a customer. The food was terrible. A gluten free muffin tasted like I was eating a foam mattress - just terrible. The hash browns were a crazy mix of soggy and over cooked depending on the bite. I told my husband I didn't want to go the a diner downtown because I wanted a step up from diner food for breakfast. I absolutely did not get that at Syrup - I wish we would have gone to the diner instead. It takes a pretty special place to earn a one star rating from me - Syrup is that special place. Denver!!! Meet Syrup...Waffle House's more expensive cousin. The place just creeps me out and why all the good reviews just blows my freakin' mind! I had an omelet here that was so dry that it double in size once the moisture in the air hit it...and that's not saying much...we're at an altitude of 5280. They do have a gluten free menu and the waffle was like eating insulation from a 70's modular home. Getting past the food (THANK GOD) and talking about the service. OMG! If the Goodwill ever had a cafeteria ( and I might patent this) this is what I would imagine the service would be like. I swear they hired people that grew up hating breakfast as a kid. Plus, they lack efficiency and expedition. It took over 35 minutes just to get our food, and even at that, our server forgot half our order and she never brought it out even after she dropped the check and we mentioned it...no sorry..NADA! She wasn't even busy! The interior was spacious and open, yet oddly, people still found a way to slam their chair to the back of yours. The faux wood floors looked cheap, along with the snap in ceiling tiles that were, from my opinion, supposed to resemble something from the Victorian era but plastic. SYRUP: I LOATH YOU AND YOUR CRAPPY STAFF! Plus, your name even sounds gross, yet surprising has good advice....If you plan on eating here, don't be afraid to drown everything in, of course, SYRUP. Average breakfast. My breakfast sandwich and fruit were fine. My daughter had eggs Benedict rancheros and they were just drenched in a brown-green sauce. The presentation was really unappetizing. The "new" potatoes are smashed Tater Tots, which also looked and was unappetizing. They were not brown or crispy, just sort of pale and mushy. Service was fine. Worse than the food were the restrooms. How much would paint and new stall doors cost? It seemed as though no one had refurbished the restrooms since I last ate at this location (in the former breakfast place) 15 years ago. The restaurant decor itself was pastel and lacked character. With competition from Snooze and Jelly, where everything is fresh, hip, clean and fun, the whole experience felt out of date. read more

Tried a little of The Wynston Maple Drive sandwich, DELISH...french toast wtih ham, cheddar, bacon and maple aioli?? YES PLEASE!!! Also tried the Thanksgiving Sandwich. Um, hello? How can you go wrong with thanksgiving dinner on an open-faced sub? YOU CAN'T because ITS AWESOME. The cottage fries that come with the sandwiches are also great, sliced thin enough to be crispy on the outside, but thick enough to be soft in the middle. Heaven. For my birthday earlier this month, I was asked if I wanted to go to breakfast. Um, yes please! Breakfast is my favorite meal! And since I've been slowly amassing a collection of "to try" bookmarks concerning breakfast joints, I knew it was finally time to try a new place. Cue Syrup! We arrived just shortly after Syrup opened it doors, which proved to be a good decision as the dining room steadily filled in. I ordered the eggs benedict while my friend ordered one of the omelettes. We also decided to try the waffle appetizer (yes, an app at breakfast!) so we would get a chance to try some of the famed syrups. Yum-o! The waffles were so delicious: fluffy and crispy. Let's not forget to mention the amazing syrups! I'm glad we tried the waffles because it really would be a shame to come here and not have any of the syrups. As for the eggs benedict, holy moly so tasty! The eggs were cooked to ooey gooey perfection and set atop a croissant. I wasn't a big fan of the side of the hashbrowns, but the rest of the plate made up for it. My friend's omelette looked amazing as well and was devoured in no time. I am so happy to have finally visited Syrup! It's a wonderful, relaxing place to enjoy breakfast or brunch. Great food and great service, what more can you ask for? read more

After trying to decide whether to visit the downtown location or this location, we flipped a coin and this location won. Good thing. There was about a 30 minute wait at the downtown location (Sunday at noon) but here we walked right in and were seated right away. The decor was cute. Simple and clean with soft colors around. We were greeted promptly by our server and he was friendly as could be. I asked if they had espresso or just coffee and the server laughed saying, "Naw, just coffee. Poor man's espresso!" That was awesome and set the tone for my brunch. The menu was pretty diverse with some unique items. They had beignets, several types of pancakes including, "Pigs in a Snuggie" which is pancake with sausage mixed in. Pretty cool. Like corned beef hash and omelettes? You can have an omelette stuffed with hash! Whaaattt??? That was the winner for me. I ordered it with egg whites. My other half ordered the breakfast burrito. The food came out quickly and was hot off the grill. Unfortunately I was slightly disappointed with my "Brooklyn Omelette". Although the description lead me to believe it was made with "hash" there weren't any potatoes in the omelette. If there were, I surely couldn't find them. I dissected the omelette and found plenty of corned beef, onions, peppers and lots of swiss cheese. But it wasn't really "corned beef hash" as I was hoping for. It was served with hash browns so I guess that's where you get the potatoes. I'd have called it a Corned Beef omelette instead. The breakfast burrito was yummy. Smothered in a green chili sauce that was flavorful and had a slight kick to it. It was served with a green salsa on the side that had MAJOR kick and that was the winner for me. I smothered my hash browns with that green salsa and went to town. Overall, Syrup is a good place with great people and a complete menu that's bound to have something for everyone. read more

Started our day of walking around downtown Denver by having breakfast here. Its in an awkward spot; we accidently walked by it the first time. The entrance of this place is inside a building that feels like the ground floor of a shopping mall. That aside, the food here was fine. The pancakes I ordered were fine; the best part about them was the maple pecan butter and the maple vanilla syrup (as good as they were-butter and syrup do not make for a great meal). The bf had a bloody (good, but pretty standard. Bland. Nothing to jump for joy over). He had the nutella French toast for breakfast; that was pretty good. But lets be real; nutella and bananas are great on their own accord. The actual bread on the French toast was a little soggy; it could have been crispier. We got in, we got out, the price was right. Syrup was average. Food was decent and so were the prices. It was super cool that we got a free order of beignets. They came with your choice of 2 syrups, so it was fun to be able to try some of what makes them who they are. We ordered the vanilla maple and Kahlua, both decnt. I got an average egg and toast dish. Could have been a little warmer but other than that it was fine. He got a more fancy potato and egg dish which was also good but not outstanding. We were so excited about trying syrup. The atmosphere is welcoming and cute. The reason for a 2 star review is: -I had to change my 7 mo and the restroom inside the restaurant doesn't have a changing table. I went up the elevator to the restroom, only to find the changing table filthy with number 2 on it. -I ordered something I believe was called the kitchen sink. It was very bland. -you can't add on a piece of French toast, so we had to pay $11 to try a stuffed French toast. For two of us to eat breakfast it cost $50 before the tip! -my husband ordered gluten free toast with his meal. The menu did not say that was going to cost $4 extra. I think this location could learn from the location downtown - you can't have three waitresses handle the breakfast rush. The food was just as good, but I spent a lot of time feeling bad for the staff who were real deep in the weeds. I had the Cherry Creeker - basically eggs benedict with corned beef instead of ham. I love the corned beef here - I don't know if it's made in house (if it is, good on 'em), but it is the right pull apart texture for properly made corned beef, with a salty pop that cuts through the hollandaise. I love the smashed tots on the side, a breakfast idea I've completely stolen for use at home, especially when you mix them up with some leftover hollandaise and corned beef mixed in. With a couple extra staff this place could really be a great spot to grab breakfast in the area - until then, as long as you're willing to (gasp) enjoy some conversation with your breakfast mates this is a delicious spot for a bite. read more

Went to this place today and the hostess was right off the bat rude. She told me the wait time as if I had asked her numerous times. I went ahead and places my name and walked out. My girlfriend who was meeting me showed up and when she didn't see me she asked if I had placed my name. The hostess was not helpful to her and had an attitude with her stating there was no name on the list. Finally as I walked back the hostess stated there was a miscommunication. However After noticing that people that came in after me had been seated before me she said she got my name wrong. After being seated for a good 8 minutes 3 waiters walked past us with no acknowledgment I finally asked one if she could help us. NO ALCOHOL. I am not docking Syrup one star for not having a liquor license. However, this is a deal breaker for me when choosing a brunch spot. Syrup does not serve alcohol, and you won't know this until you sit down and scour the menu for a mimosa or bloody mary. But hey, Syrup has fresh juice and delicious coffee. With that out of the way, Syrup's pancakes and waffles (thick slabs of freshly baked bread) are divine. Its syrups are an indulgence - flavored, buttery, sugary goodness, but not if you're in the mood for authentic maple syrup from the North/east. Its service is friendly and fast, and its portions are huge. Parking is a pain (Cherry Creek as usual), and the place is usually packed. read more

It's aways a wait at Syrup Cherry Creek. So, I finally stopped in for a meal. After 45-minute wait (since some 2-top call aheads were seated before us, we finally had a chance to order. I went with the famous hash with hollandaise. Servers were young and pretty snappy, bringing food out as needed, but that was about it. My food arrived, it looked and smelled delicious but was cold......they were too busy to even come back and ask how it was.....so I ate half and let the rest go. My opinion? We were excited to try Syrup; I love pancakes! It was a cute little place, but as soon as you walk in, you'll notice the attitude. The hostess seemed annoyed that she had to pull herself away from her cell phone long enough to seat us. We were sat at a table right next to the door, in the flow of traffic. My husband tried to pull his chair away from the table, and the back of the chair came off! The table was wobbly, and we sloshed coffee and water on the table throughout the meal. At first glance, it's a charming place, but as I looked around (we had a long wait time from when we sat down before the waitress actually stopped at our table), the more it looked like someone had used a $5 glue gun to decorate the place. I ordered the "famous" corned beef hash and eggs benedict for my meal, but we also asked for a short stack of pancakes with blackberry syrup to start. When we got our pancakes, they were doughy and the syrup was cold. The benedict was pretty tasty, but it was also cold, and there was a lot more muffin than meat on the benedict. Generally, the waitress was inattentive, and perhaps even surly. When we left, people were lining up to get a table. I was tempted to tell them not to waste their time waiting. read more

5 stars for service and the DELICIOUS food! It was tough making a choice, so me and my friends decided to get appetizers - the cracked maple bacon along with the fried chicken waffle sliders. Both were amazing! The bacon was to die for.. soaked in maple syrup and cracked pepper along the crust. Not too chewy or crunchy - it was perfect. The fried chicken was delicious!!!!!! Well cooked and coated. The waffle was soft! Easy to bite into. This place is great for breakfast! I had the Maryland Eggs Benedict and it was so good. I didn't like the salad it came with but hey I'm not a salad person at all. The eggs were runny which is the best when you're eating eggs Benedict! My daughter and I decided to try Syrup for a late Sunday breakfast. I expected there would be a long wait as there are with many of the popular breakfast eateries, but there was no wait at all. In fact there were only 3 occupied tables in the restaurant. We we seated promptly and the waiter came right over to take our order. The restaurant is decorated in a fresh geen and white color scheme that is very pleasant. It was bright and sunny and made an ideal choice for breakfast or lunch. There were many great choices on the menu but I decided to try the Winston Maple Drive sandwich. This was a delightful treat that I thoroughly enjoyed. Layers of ham, bacon, tomato and cheese between 2 pieces of French toast. So good. My daughter had a hamburger, just plain as she likes them , but it was cooked as she ordered it. The fresh fruit offered with each entre was a nice change from french fries. I will definitely return to Syrup. read more

Inedible! The worst in Cherry Creek yet! Long waits and the pancakes were really below average. Hockey pucks and served cold. My favorite meal of the day is breakfast. Mess that up for me and you mess up my day. Service was slow and inattentive. Lots of 30-somethings with babies in high chairs. Not for us. It was also rather expensive. I can get a 5x to 7x markup. That is standard in a location such as Cherry Creek. In business school they teach you that you are not paying for the food, you are renting a seat. The rent here is kind of high. Hi! I recently visited Syrup to try it out since I had a Google Offers deal. Well, no deal is too good to make me revisit this restaurant. The food was good, the hostess was nice and went out of her way to help but the one and only reason why I will not visit this restaurant again was my server. I believe her name is Allison but I only know that because that is what was said on my ticket, as she never introduced herself to me. From the moment I sat down, it seemed like she did NOT want to serve me. I have never met this women before but she treated me very rudely the whole time I was there. She never cracked a smile and made me feel like I was less than a human being. I ordered a sandwich for lunch to-go towards the end of my meal. The restaurant was getting busy during the morning rush and since I was sitting at a 4-top table I decided to get up so it could be cleaned, and a family with children could sit down instead of having them standing. Well, that didn't fly with her as she gave me a weird look when she saw me standing next to the hostess. I explained to her that I had moved to let someone else sit down and she walked away. She finally grabbed my sandwich for me and I said "Thank you" when she handed it to me - no response. I still left a tip (albeit small) for her since I am a nice person, but I would really appreciate Syrup management reevaluating her position with the restaurant. If she hates her job so much she should not be doing it and NOT be representing Syrup with such a bad attitude toward its customers. I will not be a return customer. read more

Fantastic spot for brunch. Modern, quirky interior, friendly staff. We had Crack Bacon, Lennie Benedict, Traditional French Toast and Blueberry Waffle. The French toast was so good, my son said it didn't need syrup and has replaced my homemade recipe as his favorite. The Crack Bacon was amazing. Our order took a while to come out, so we were comped for the bacon... It was so good that I would've paid twice the menu price. I asked for some whipped cream for my blueberry waffle, wasn't charged extra (bonus!) and it totally made the dish. It was good before the wc but outstanding after. Hubby got the Lennie Benedict and I barely heard a peep out of him since he was too busy shoveling it into his mouth. Giving it two stars because the food was really good (once we actually received it) but the overall service experience was among the worst I've ever had. My friend and I came here after a workout class and were seated by 10:45. After various updates from the waitress about the order being lost, messed up, being fulfilled in the wrong order, etc. we didn't receive our breakfast until almost 12:45, at which point we were absolutely starving. And at the end of it, we just received our full price bill as if nothing happened. Knowing that we had to wait two hours for our food, you'd think the restaurant would have offered us a side dish to hold us over or given us the bill with "sorry for the wait, the lattes are on us!" but no such gesture. Again, the food was very good but the experience was really off putting. Probably would not go back or recommend this place. read more

We came here for brunch on a Thursday morning. Half the restaurant was under construction but we were still seated quickly. Alcohol was not being served until the construction is completed which was a little disappointing. The waitress recommended the Cherry Creek eggs Benedict so I got that with a gluten free English muffin. We got the crack bacon as an appetizer and it was really good. It was the perfect mix of sweet and salty. The food came out and my friend got eggs over easy and they were wayyyy over cooked and she couldn't eat them. The eggs Benedict was ok- the eggs weren't as runny as I would have liked them to be and they needed more hollandaise sauce. The breakfast potatoes were pretty good. I just don't know if any breakfast place can top Snooze in Denver, but Syrup was pretty dang good. They have banana's foster for breakfast! Whaaa?? So, you can get this amazing dessert in the form of a pancake, waffle or french toast. YUM. It was warm, sugary, buttery banana goodness. See. Don't you want to go right now???? We also did a waffle sampler as an appetizer with three of their offered syrups, apple, blackberry and maple vanilla. The apple tastes like a sour apple blow pop, so if you are in the mood for sweet and sour, definitely give it a shot! The blackberry was sweet and light and my favorite of the three, while the maple vanilla was exactly that. Maple with a hint of vanilla and really tasty. The service was fantastic. The owner (I think?) seated us and talked to us for a couple of minutes and our server was so attentive! We didn't have to ask for a water refill once or even wait very long for our food to arrive. Syrup... is... fantastic. Ok... so though they really made an effort with the decor, I think it was doomed from the start because the place still has the feel of nursing home cafeteria. It's just kind of lifeless and bland, in that "I'm stuck in Purgatory" type of way. However, that's where the negatives end, hence the 4 stars. The food just rocks. My fav is the appetizer, the beignets. They're these little donuts with a sugary substance/coating/thing. And better yet, they bring out these syrups (and so the name of the place ceases to be a mystery). Little sample sides. Blackberry. Apple-something. Vanilla bean something. Apricot. Buttermilk something. I can't remember the exact names - they were just awesome - look them up if you're interested. The food itself was good. First time I had a pretty basic "2 eggs scrambled with a buttermilk pancake and sausage." Tasty. Well executed. Hot. The next time I had the California Eggs Benedict, with tomato and avacado. Tasty. Eggs were a bit runny for my taste, but that's totally a subjective thing. The staff, for their part, were attentive, friendly, and seemed just happy as all hell. The manager (owner?) was all over it, asking how we liked things, did we have a good breakfast, helping folks find the restrooms, checking after the staff, asking if we had suggestions, etc. The guy was good. Me and my family received exceptionally horrible service. After waiting 15 minutes for a table we were seated and had to wait another 10 minutes for coffee and water. Then we ordered our food just to sit and wait for another 45 minutes not to receive it. There were 3 large parties that came in after us who all were served promptly. Being that my family and I were the only African Americans in this establishment this morning I definitely feel that we were treated this way because of our race. The older man with the grey hair that was advising of wait times sent a waiter (not our acutaul waitress that sucked at her job) over to apologize and would not speak me me himself (he ran and hid in the kitchen area) at that point (almost an hour after we were seated) we left. I suggest that NO ONE eats here. Racism is real and this place has proven that. But hey... Atleast our coffee was free. read more
