We also our ordered the pecan pie. made in house also. We enjoyed everything! I thought the crust was a little too thick and tough on the shark bites in the armadillo eggs. Other than that they were pretty good. My favorite was the shark bites filled with brisket and a jalapeño. The sausage was a little greasy for my taster but had a great flavor. Ok, a definitely 5 star for the food, but a 2 star for the service. I know it was at lunch, and I know there were 5 of us, but c'mon, you're a popular restaurant in a tourist area. You should be used to this! A group of us from work headed here for lunch, and they tried to seat us as one table and stick a chair on the end. Um no. That was way too cramped. We put two tables together instead (don't worry, we weren't stealing the last open table...there were others for other patrons), so we could have some room. But it irked me that they couldn't do that for us. Our waiter was meh. He was slow (ok, they were fairly busy), but even when he was there, he wasn't really engaged. He kept trying to make jokes but they seemed really forced. Ok, thanks for trying, but really, just be pleasant and take care of our needs. We don't need a show. So, the service really wasn't good at all. But the food. Oh my the food! So much of the foody goodness!! We were there on a Thursday and the special on Thursday is fried chicken. Get the fried chicken! It's only like $9 and you get two HUGE pieces, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn (or a veggie of your liking) and a biscuit. This is like my dream meal. Four of my favorite foods all together in one place for around the price of a fast-food place? Be still my fat clogged heart! Because momma's in food heaven right now! This was seriously some damn good food, and a damn lot of it too! We had ordered some boudin balls and armadillo eggs too, so after sharing those, when the food came out I knew I was in trouble. I made a dent in it, to keep my inner fat girl happy, and man was she ever stoked. This was some of the best food I've had in awhile. So if you want good food, definitely come here. This should really be two reviews as we got polar opposite service from the bar to our table. At our plastic chaired crappy Walmart patio furniture tab the horror began. It took twenty minutes to get our beers. If my daughter had not been there I would have went ballistic on that waitress who must have been high when she dumped a beer on my phone. She was so stoned, she was carrying the tray tilted. It was my Daughter and Son-In-Laws one month since their wedding. I was taking them and my best Friend to T-Bone Tom's. My buddies daughter is next, and we are both fans of Kemah and expected way better. She brought me a sirloin instead of the bone in ribeye I paid $29 for. No sense in sending it back, she was gone for 20 minutes at a time, that be AN HOUR. The bar service was cool as heck. Problem is when they brought plates out, my 2 pounds were mixed with MUSHY, COLD AND OLD and ONLY SOME pieces were hot and fresh. Very Texan outdoor dinning country music every weekend and large portions. Price is very reasonable meats are smoked and tasty. Service was good but was packed so did not expect exceptional service. It was a relaxed environment and a nice place to hang out listening to music. Since it was chilly, I enjoyed the propane heaters. The tiki bar style restaurant offered a lot of tropical drinks that go with the ambience. We started with the armadillo eggs. They were nice and crispy on the outside and filled with savory brisket on the inside. Now I'll be the first one to call myself wimpy when it comes to spicy food, so when I say it was a bit too hot for me, you normal folks will probably be fine! I survived the burn by chugging my refreshing sweet tea...oh it was nice! For entree I ordered the chopped beef steak smothered with onions and gravy. I chose to have mashed potatoes and spinach. They serve it with a slice of Texas toast. The portions are Texas sized so I took most of it home. Everything was delicious. You can't go wrong...the service was great too! read more

Cool place. Lots of history. We started The meal off with a round of armadillo eggs, which was one of the dishes featured on their triple D episode. They were really good, similar to jalapeño poppers but with pulled pork. I ordered the Cajun shrimp Po'Boy, which was tasty but nothing above average. I also don't know about that whole shrimp fresh from the gulf thing. But none the less, very tasty and filling sandwich. As a side, I ordered the house green beans. In all honesty, the green beans were one of my favorite parts of the meal. Absolutely done right, where you can taste the ham they were cooked with. The real MVP here was the bread pudding. The picture doesn't do the serving size justice. It was warm and smothered in some kind of maple glaze, such a treat!!! We will be back next time visiting Kemah! read more

We were there on a Monday evening and they weren't extremely busy. The service was horrible and the food was just okay. How this place was featured on a show is beyond comprehension. Our server was not very attentive and only came to the table whenever we flagged her down. When we got the bill, we understood why we had lousy service. Our server was guaranteed an 18% gratuity that was automatically added to the check. Why would she need to work hard when she already knew she was getting a tip? When the food finally came, some of it was hot, but most of it was lukewarm or cold. We told the manager about the lousy service and the cold food and he didn't seem to care. We were on our way to get fish and chips, but our destination was closed! So we went by T-Bone Tom's to see what they were all about. First, parking is available and is pretty good. Social distance is enforced. Outdoor seating is available with.... Live music 6 nights a week. The "backyard" was pretty busy for this reason. We dined inside. Now on to the food. We opted for the specials. She got the prime rib and I got the French dip. Started with the Tom's smoked sausage and armadillos eggs. Smoked sausage was very good and made in house. Great flavor! Excellent with the bbq sauce which was also made in house. Large portion to share. Armadillos eggs were also pretty great. Jalapeno stuffed with shredded brisket and fried. You get 4, and 1 alone is pretty massive. This is meant to be shared and its worth it. French dip special is really big. It's on some soft French bread and the meat is prime rib. Comes with 2 sides. I chose the hushpuppies and curly fries. I guess I really wanted carbs. The sandwich was pretty epic and the au jus was on point. She had the prime rib and liked it. I'll say that the prime rib on my sandwich was awesome, so I'm sure hers was as well. That comes with 2 sides and she got mashed potatoes and green beans. It also came with au jus. Beer selection won't please craft beer lovers, but it's going to be fine for the everyman. They have wine too, and while you won't find a rare CdP, what they do have will go well with the food. I dug the down home decor of the place and the caricatures on the wall. Place is old school and makes you feel at home. Staff is super nice and accommodating. Word of warning... If you sit at the counter top, you need to watch your step. There are signs up, but still watched a dude eat it. The sign is very easy to see. I'll definetely come back. Came here on a friend's bday on. Saturday evening. The place is popular on the weekend for sure. We had friends arrive before us so we got to the restaurant without having to wait. Despite the fact that it was busy our waiter his name stay with letter D he wears glasses handled a table of like 20! The atmosphere was fun. It was freaking cold that night, there were heaters provided they helped. The food looked delicious can't rate on the taste I didn't eat. I bet this place is a cool spot in the summer. Went in with a friend on a Sunday afternoon who "just wanted to go out for a steak". It was a ridiculous experience. He ordered the NY Strip, medium rare. It came to the table COLD ... on a cold plate. It was sent back. A few moments later, a lady who claimed ti be the manager arrived with ANOTHER steak (most likely the same one kissed by a little more fire) WITHOUT the lovely fries the original one was served with. My friend asked if there was any au jus sauce that could accompany. The response was "no", I had ordered a BBQ plate for myself (that was pretty good). After all the drama, I told the manager to disappear, bring me a box, and deliver the check. My friend left the restaurant completely hungry and dissatisfied. One would think one could go a couple of miles down the road and be served a decent steak from a restaurant that has been around this long. Apparently .... NOT. I've eaten several times at T-Bone Tom's in Kemah, Texas over the past few years, and I figured it was high time I wrote a review about this iconic Clear Lake City restaurant. My spouse and I went to dinner at T-Bone Tom's last Thursday, January 24, 2019, after we attended an HOA meeting for a local community we are about to move to just across Highway 146. It was a chilly evening, but "Sunny Jim" was providing some great live entertainment on T-Bone Tom's Patio, which was enclosed with roll-down plastic walls, and had inviting pyramid heaters scattered throughout with warm flames providing an enticing ambiance. So, we decided to take advantage of the non-crowded patio and enjoy a rare treat for us! "Justice" was our server, and she was very friendly and attentive. I especially appreciated her arranging for a straight-backed wooden chair to be brought to our table for me to sit on. Those plastic chairs are too low and uncomfortable for me to sit in due to a debilitating back injury, not to mention the arms of the chairs are painful on my "mature feminine hips". I ordered a frozen margarita . . . yes, I know it was a cold, winter evening, but T-Bone Tom's frozen margaritas are very, very good! I also ordered an iced tea with extra lemons . . . what can I say - I'm warm natured and gotta keep my cool! LOL! Anyways, I digress. My spouse ordered the chicken fried steak with brown gravy, with a salad and green beans. I got a piece of the steak to taste and it was delicious. The bowl of green beans disappeared before I could even ask my spouse for a sample, so they musta been real good! I ordered the Thursday Night Special - all you can eat barbecue ribs, with the sides of potato salad and pinto beans. Now, I'm a beef rib aficionado, and rarely eat pork ribs, but I happen to really like T-Bone Tom's pork ribs. I've had them on previous visits when I'd ordered the "Trike Platter". So I know what T-Bone Tom's can do to a pork rib . . . (let the salivation begin!) Absolute pork heaven on a bone! Justice brought out a platter with three pretty good sized pork ribs, bowls with my sides, as well as a bowl of barbecue sauce. Yep . . . pork heaven on a bone . . . with awesome sauce on the side! Those ribs were meaty, tender, juicy pork perfection! And to think I could get more if I wanted - life is good! The potato salad was delicious - almost as good as my own recipe ;-) and the only way my personal recipe is better is because I add chopped black olives. The beans were oh so good! Let's just say my spouse didn't get to sample my beans either, just like I didn't get to sample her green beans, LOL! Back to those ribs . . . I had to get some more - after all, it was "all you can eat" and I needed another helping of T-Bone Tom's perfect pork ribs, just to make sure they were as awesomely good as the first serving . . . Yes, the next three ribs were just as good as the first three. For those who are watching what I eat - that's six ribs . . . six delicious T-Bone Tom's perfect pork ribs! After that I was full . . . just-right-full . . . "satisfied-its-time-for-a-nap full". No-room-for-dessert-full! After visiting with Justice for a few minutes and listening to Sunny Jim sing and play more good songs, we went home . . . and as we drove down NASA Road 1 towards Space Center Boulevard, we happily realized that soon we will be living just across Highway 146 from T-Bone Tom's instead of six miles away. They will accommodate large party's but, be prepared to wait... Business is booming!! It's been showcased on Diner's,Drive-Ins & Dives & it's the very first restaurant I ate at in Texas. I've been here many time & everything has been consistent. The restaurant itself has a down home feel to it. Decor is country & welcoming with vinyl plaid table cloths. The staff are high energy,attentive,efficient & know their product. The meat case is a nice display. All orders can be taking to go or you can order in advance to pick it up & head home. The wait time can be long on weekends so be prepared for that. The outdoor patio is large & can be nice when the weather isn't too hot & the mosquitos aren't raging. I HATE sitting out there. Normally a live band would add some life to a restaurant however here they kill any conversation you are possibly trying to have since it's so damn loud. It's annoying & unpleasant,last time I sat outside I wasn't even able to here to the person next to me or in from of me. My throat was sore & I had a killer headache without the benefits of having a drink. They do all of their meat grinding & stuff the sausages in house. The Armadillo eggs (4/order) are awesome,it's shredded brisket meat stuffed in jalapeno,battered & deep fried. They are very filling,there's no way 2 people can finish them & eat a full meal as well. I order them when there's 2-3 people dining with me. My 2 favorite dishes are the brisket & sausage (2 meat platter) & the shrimp po'boy. The brisket comes in regular or lean. It's moist & is served with the home made BBQ sauce. As for the po'boy,I didn't grow up with them so I enjoy discovering the many different options. The shrimp is not overcooked & is stuffed in a thick buttered toasted bun. The blackened catfish (2 filets) is another meal that's popular with my spouse,it's very good. Served with rice & clairified butter. Most dishes here are served with 1 side of your choice & a salad or 2 side of your choice. The pork chops (2) special on Wednesday is solid & flavorful. They offer 16 different sides so you have plenty to choose from. The coleslaw is my favorite but the fried okra,the grilled potatoes,the green beans,the corn & the steak fries are good options as well. The key lime pie is the best dessert,the others are not worth it in my opinion. They have different specials every Mon-Fri for lunch & diner where the pricing on meals is reduced. Happy hour is availavle but I've never been to it. They have a smaller menu that they offer as of 10:00pm so if you head there after that time keep in mind the dish you've been craving might not be avaialble to order. Its a nightmare to find parking on a Friday or Saturday evening. Service is terrible, they will take your order and you will never see your waitress again. 30 min later (still no water or drinks) a different waitress shows up and takes our order again. On the way back from beach camping we met my family here and I didn't know what to expect when I drove up. The front entrance on the driveway is very steep so, I recommend using one of the side entrances. There are also multiple doors that you can enter through and inside seating as well as an expansive back patio so if you are meeting people you should decide on where you are going to meet/sit! I was surprised how packed this place was on a Sunday so, I knew we were off to a good start. There aren't any frills here, just great cooking. We sat inside and our server quickly came over to offer us drinks and appetizers. Our party arrived and we ordered! I chose the grilled shrimp platter that came served on rice with your choice of 2 sides and drawn butter. I chose the coleslaw and a side salad with bleu cheese. Grilled Shrimp: I think there could have been some more flavor but, the shrimp was cooked really well! Rice: It had chorizo in it, I think, which gave it that nice spicy flavor. It was soft and the flavors blended well with the shrimp to give it that little something extra! Coleslaw: Not the best I have had but, it was fresh, creamy and well flavored. Butter: I actually think it was melted margarine because it didn't have that creamy drawn butter flavor. That was a bit disappointing. Salad with Bleu Cheese: I wish I could comment on it however, it was never delivered to me! My relatives also got a bread pudding and even though I didn't taste it because I am not a dessert person it came out piping hot and it was enough for 6 people to share! Overall I thought the food was good and the service was decent even though our server must have been new she delivered great service. Good food, it's always a hit. The service is pretty slow, but that because it's always packed and up to 1.5 hours of a wait time. It's generally loud if you sit outside because of the live music. However, the music is always a great time. Keep in mind people will be smoking if outside. Inside the diner is just as much of a throwback to the old days before the new patio outback. I first stopped by last summer because some friends wanted to check out this place as they found out it'd been featured on some Food Network show ("Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives", I think). Sadly, I hadn't had a chance to come back again until recently, nearly a year later. They serve amazing barbecue here. I think I've managed to try a little bit of all the meats they offer just from what I order and from sampling what my friends order. The sausage - good. The brisket - good. The steak - good. The ribs - good. I could go on, but I think you get the idea. Their portions are beyond generous, as everyone leaves in the middle of a food coma from stuffing their faces with as much as they could. The things I've tried and liked: Oh man, if you stop by here you HAVE to get the armadillo eggs. MMM so good. Now, I don't know where the name came from, but it's not an actual egg. What it really is is some wonderful egg shaped masterpiece made of brisket stuffed jalapeno, breaded and fried. While it's listed as an appetizer on the menu, if you aren't splitting this with at least one other person, this is very much so an entree in terms of price and how full you're gonna be after scarfing down all 4 (if you even manage that!). The brisket was also quite scrumptious. In Texas, there's a lot of stiff competition out there in the BBQ market, so by no means would I promote this place as having the best, but it certainly is a noteworthy adversary. I ordered the sliced brisket plate, which came with 2 sides and a thick slice of bread in addition to the brisket and BBQ sauce. Portions were generous, I think I only managed to finish half the brisket. It was deliciously moist and had just the right amount of fat in it. Mmm. My friend ordered the campfire steak, which was listed as an appetizer, but again - don't be fooled. Portion and price-wise, this is definitely a full entree. It was 3 or 4 mid-size pieces of steak on skewers, and comes with a tiny little grill to heat them on. The steaks are cooked to rare already when it comes out, but I definitely recommend grilling it further on the tiny grill to get a nice sear and make it medium rare. Well seasoned and creative presentation. We also found out that they offer an all you can eat rib deal for $11-12 on Thursday nights. All. You. Can. Eat. Ohmylanta those ribs were heavenly. My friend decided to go for it as he was starving, and let the rest of our group all try some. Ugh so good. The ribs were deliciously seasoned, and so so so tender!!! Falling off the bone tender. Be still my heart. (I personally would never get the deal as I simply can't eat that much, but those of you with a big appetite and the stomach to go with it - get this if you can. It also came with choice of 1 or 2 sides, I believe.) The service has been great too. Everyone seems super friendly and good at what they do. Our server this past trip went above and beyond for us, we all left generous tips to reflect our gratitude. I love Tbone Toms and I can't wait to go back. We ate here on Easter Sunday 2014 and arrived there about 11:30 a.m. so we beat the "after church rush" and didn't have to wait at all. We have driven by this place for years and always said "We need to try them one day." but never did until today. On our way in we ran into some out-of-towner regulars who we asked what was good on the menu. They suggested the Armadillo eggs and catfish. My husband had the chicken friend steak with potato salad and steak fries. He said the CFS was one of the best he's had. The potato salad was the best EITHER of us has ever had in a restaurant. I'm not much on potato salad but this was amazing. His steak fries were good but he was too full to eat them. The Armadillo eggs, which are jalapenos stuffed with a shredded brisket with sweet BBQ sauce, breaded and fried, were really good. I almost ate one all by myself. The order comes with 4 and they are about the size of a turkey egg, in other words... Pretty darn big! The breading was delicious. I'm one of those people that usually ends up pulling the breading off of anything breaded because it's too thick, tasteless, gummy or not well done in general. I could have eaten the breading fried by itself. I had the fried catfish basket (surprise!). Now, I use to be a dolphin in a past life. Okay, not really, but I DO love seafood and if you throw seafood at me I'm pretty much happy as a dolphin eating seafood! What I'm saying is, I know good seafood and I know good catfish. This was by far the best fried catfish I have ever had. Most restaurants under season their batter/crust. Theirs was well seasoned, not too thick and kept the fish tender and juicy. Honestly I couldn't tell you if this was a dry or wet batter but whatever it was it was delicious! I ordered curly fries and when it came out my fries had obviously been sitting a while. They were not crisp, they were limp and more cold than hot. When my husband told the waitress she didn't hesitate to bring me another side. So, to sum it all up... PROS Best Catfish anywhere! Near best CFS my hubby has ever had! Best Potato Salad ANYWHERE!! Excellent service! Love the uniqueness of the Armadillo eggs. Decoration and atmosphere is shabby country and I loved all the local advertising. It's not on the "boardwalk" so you don't have to pay for parking. CONS (I almost don't have any but I feel like I should mention...) Parking is limited. Ladies' room is SMALL, one-stall and the toilet tissue isn't good at all. My group was looking for some good dinner locations and T-bone Tom's looked to be a good choice based on yelp's 4 star overall rating. Decor was pretty touristy (not necessarily a bad thing), and the place seemed like a nice spot for vacationers. My group was seated at the rear open area where the live band was playing, and the band and was really loud. The volume distracted me and my table from having any meaningful conversations. It was uderstandable that some noise would be accompanied by sitting near the band, but it was quite annoying not to be able to hear somebody sitting just 2 feet away. Service was erratic. Our waitress was friendly but seemed to be pretty swamped with customers which resulted in two of our appetizer orders coming out incorrectly. In addition drinks and food came out fairly slow. It took just about 30 minutes to get our entrees. Thankfully the food was pretty good, something which I was a little concerned about considering the busy atmosphere and the service up to that point. My blackened Catfish had nice spicy seasoning and was still moist inside. Tip...don't bother with the piece of Texas toast they serve as it was nearly transparent; probably having been saturated with butter or margarine. The bed of rice the blackened Catfish was nestled on was tasty with bits of beef, peas, and a hint of Cajun like seasoning. Nowadays I don't eat much rice, so this was a nice treat. My friends ordered the Tom's Ribeye which is described as being a marinated ribeye. I sampled a decent portion and it was pretty good. The marinade had a slight sweet and tangy balsamic quality to it. Appetizers were actually the tastiest of the food we had in my opinion. Armadillo Eggs, essentially Jalapeño poppers with pulled pork insideZip, were yummy and fried perfectly. The pulled pork inside was really good which was surprising for a restaurant that doesn't really specialize in BBQ. We also tried the Shark Eggs which are like seafood croquettes. Worst place I have ordered to go from ever. Ordered to go on the phone. Arrived when they said the order would be ready. Waited to get to the cashier then paid. Got asked my named 5 times and continued to wait for 45 mins while other people ordered and received their food. When I got home the food was cold, like it had been sitting there. This place is hit or miss for me. Some items are great and other items are below average. I do like the fact they always give you the option of live band outside or quieter indoor seating. However this place is always packed so it can get loud indoors too. The standout is the homemade sausage appetizer!! I find myself coming back for that. I've tried their steaks and chicken fried steak and not very impressed. I may come back and try something else if I'm with a group that wants to try here. First time to visit this place but have heard about how good it is several times. We had a party of 8 on a Saturday night but only waited about 15 minutes. I was worried it would take longer to get seated, especially after seeing how full the parking lot was. We tried the Tom's Campfire as an appetizer, it was a neat concept, and fun for the kids. The food was freaking awesome and our service was excellent! You should try Tom's out bc it is worth it!!!!! read more

Wonderful and delicious place to get some great BBQ food. I ordered pulled pork, Mac and cheese, and a lb of crawfish. The pulled pork was delicious and had a perfectly toasted bun. The Mac and cheese was extra cheesy. The crawfish tasted a little funny but still good and spicy like it's supposed to be. I only remember the last name of the waitress (Bordreaux) and she was super nice. I tipped her $11 on a $17 order. We also were lucky enough to go on a Sunday where they have live music and it was great! It was a little hot so I suggest going as the sun is going down so you won't sweat while you eat.
