This place is just okay, nothing special. Ordered the SF burrito and it came on a wheat tortilla... it's definitely not an authentic Mexican spot so if that's what you're looking for, look elsewhere. Also, the cashier was super rude and acted like it was such a hassle to have a dairy allergy and was not very helpful in accommodating my allergy, she pretty much acted like I was being difficult because of this. Super rude, not my fault I can't have dairy. Lastly, a note to the owners or manager: have your employees clean your hot sauces more often, they're super sticky and gross to handle. read more

I'd put this place in the category of "Marina Mexican Food" but that's definitely not a bad thing! The food is amazing! If you're looking for a more "classic" burrito, I'd go with the San Francisco (my go-to). The chips, guac and salsa are always worth it. The tacos (Nick's way) are also fantastic. For me, the tacos are best eaten there, fresh, but the burritos travel perfectly. I live a few blocks away and honestly still love the place. If I'm not eating there, I tend to order online (and pay!) ahead of time so I can skip the line and long wait. read more

This place is AMAZING. First of all, just know that when I first got to San Francisco, I took a 20/30 min walk just to get to Nick's Crispy Tacos. If I had known this place was so much closer and did the tacos "NICK'S WAY" I would have come here! I like this ambience better. Still a counter service type of situation, but definitely more chill and there's outdoor seating unlike Nick's on Polk/Broadway. 5 stars for the Baja fish tacos nick's way. I'd give it more stars but through various delivery services as well as pick up in general, there's been a downward consistency for what you are charged for and what is delivered/given. This was my first time ordering from this restaurant (via Postmates) and it was awesome. I got the quesadilla with carne asada. The tortilla was perfectly crispy on the outside, which was a welcome change from the borderline soggy quesadillas that I've dealt with at other restaurants. The chips that came with the order were great too - perfectly salted and not too thick. One star off because there were a few gristly pieces of carne asada in the quesadilla. Incredibly good tbh! I was pleasantly surprised by this weird sounding place. I suggest getting tacos "Mike's Way" which is a soft shell wrapped around a hard shell and filled with all the goods (guac, salsa, other stuff that's good). This place is so interesting- it's a taco joint but the entire interior has a Massachusetts/Nantucket/beachy vibe. Two things I would normally not associate together. I'll start by saying the food here is good. The service could be faster and the prices could be better but that's just life in SF. I'm only writing this review in the hopes that the manager sees it and changes this infuriating policy: They have items with both pinto and black beans on the menu, but they won't substitute black beans for pinto beans. Picture the scene: you order a taco and ask for black beans, but you're told that tacos come with pinto beans and that black beans are only for salads. What?! Who are you, the God of Beans? Dining in San Francisco will certainly expose you to a wealth of asinine policies but this definitely tops the list. The food was very yummy. I ordered a carne asada quesadilla and it was filled up with meat and good tender tasty meat!! Good quality food. My son and mom got cheese quesadillas with sour cream and guacamole..a tip they put the sour cream and guacamole inside the quesadilla and it's more of a wrapped quesadilla then the traditional one. It was surprising but it didn't matter cuz the taste and price were on point!! When we came to San Francisco we didn't think Mexican food but we sure are happy we stopped here. I had a horrible experience with the owner who started yelling at me. With 2 other customers behind me, he asked "would you like that for here or to go". After I responded "to go", he repeatedly insisted I eat it there even thou I had to get back to work. Screw you, Nick! I ordered the BONELESS CHICKEN TACO! I am not what one would call a Mexican food connoisseur. I've just started appreciating this kind of fare, unlike my fiancee who could judge a burrito contest. I know that El Farolito is bomb diggity and I know that the quesadilla at Whole Foods is crap, but I cannot really tell the difference most of the time between a quality taco and an "eh" taco. Except for the Tacko taco. This was gross. The cheese may as well have been a string cheese put in the microwave for 30 seconds and the taco shell was soaked with oil. Blech. Now, this was enough to make me long for Tacolicious, which Nick told my fiancee was "not in competition, because he's trying to do something different." By different, I wonder if he means, "not edible" because the line at Tacolicious was out the door and Tacko was empty. But I digress. When I bit into my soggy pollo taco, I felt something hard against my tooth, and lo and behold, it was a bone. A BONE! When I walked up to the waitress to tell her that I hurt my tooth on said bone her response was, "Oh....I'll tell someone....." Hmm...We sat there for a few more minutes and no one came out to apologize. No one thought to offer our money back, provide us with a boneless chicken taco, or make sure that I still had a tooth. Nothing. Either the waitress got confused walking to the kitchen and chewing gum at the same time or they just have awful customer service. I was so peeved that I decided to call the restaurant and speak to Nick himself. Now, I'm not in the restaurant business, but any intelligent person would think that in this economy and given that Tacko is in competition with a number of Mexican joints within walking distance, that once the manager and owner heard about what had just transpired that he'd want return business and offer some type of compensation. NOPE! When we spoke he was completely apathetic. So, all in all, if you want a lackluster taco with a side of toothache, go to Tacko. If not, head to Tacolicious. Oh, and by the way Nick, my tooth still hurts, so if I end up heading to the dentist, you better pray that your business picked up today. read more

I love this place - great food & service. My favorite is the San Francisco burrito with chicken. My one gripe (and I see that the owner reads these comments, so maybe it will help) is that I hate, hate hate the "compostable straws." They fall apart in five seconds and paper + liquid...gross. While I appreciate the effort to be green, these are terrible and I would bring back the old straws in a heartbeat. read more

Tasteless tacos, poor service. We are frequent diners in the area, and our experiences here have been poor. The tacos are flavorless--even their specialities--and the beans are often hard and undercooked. The guacamole tastes like it came out of a can. For families, the manager is not kid-friendly. He yells out to the entire restaurant, "no crying babies, no crying babies" multiple times during the meal, which is both annoying to the entire clientele and puts families with kids ill at ease. In addition, on several occasions I have seen him be rude to kids, both at the register and as he walks around the tables.
