I was really excited to try the cantina, as our area doesn't have one and this was close by to where we were staying. Walking in, I was underwhelmed. The restaurant looked a little messy. The service was friendly. I'm not sure if the amount they poured me was more than usual or if that is the normal pour, but the amount they added was too much for a small frozen Baja blast. I can only assume they've never heard of Taco Bell Cantina. Until now. The missus and I, when in Old Town Alexandria, had a running joke of 'someday, we should stop at the Taco Bell Cantina.' Saturday, mid-afternoon, the dream became real. Upon Entering: Plenty of seating. No waiting to use the digital ordering screen. Staff is friendly. (Pro tip: need to use the restroom? You need a five-digit passcode). Upside: We had booze at a Taco Bell, instead of having booze and then going to a Taco Bell. The $9 margarita-flavored slushie supposedly came with a shot of tequila in it. And when we carried around the remains of our slushie in Old Town afterward, 5-0 was none the wiser. Entertainment: A couple with an infant, all dressed in Taco Bell sauce packet onesies came in and got photos taken while we ate. Staff even joined in on the photos. I've never seen anyone at Fiola or Moon Rabbit getting their photos taken while in restaurant-themed costumes. Advantage, Taco Bell. Food: I mean, it's Taco Bell. The Frank's RedHot (™) Diablo Crispy Chicken Soft Taco is surprisingly spicy, as they put a lot of RedHot (™) on that puppy. The Nacho Cheese Doritos (™) Locos Taco Supreme is basically a Supreme Taco in a Dorito-flavored taco shell. The missus said she wished it was Cool Ranch rather than regular Doritos flavored. This location is definitely a step up from the normal Taco Bell! Not wanting to spend a lot on dinner or visiting a fancy eatery I came across this Taco Bell. I must admit, every now and then I get a craving to " run to the border." At this location, you immediately notice that it is not your typical Taco Bell as soon as you step inside the place. It is clean and the service is fast and friendly. I tried a Disha Hot Taco (new item) and and bean burrito. Both were well prepared, fresh, hot and tasty. The sauce on the Disha Hot Taco was insatiable and satisfies those with spicy taste buds for sure. Everything was crunchy, crispy and fresh....down to the veggies on my tacos. I was quite impressed being that it has been a while since I have been to Taco Bell Not to mention, this is the first Taco Bell that I have visited that also has beer on tap and cocktails. No complaints here...lol. There is also eating inside and outside overlooking the sidewalk for you to people watch while you eat. The vibe and dining area is very clean as well....which is one my pet-peeves. My entire meal and beverage came to about $10.00.... And anyone that has been in the old town Alexandria area before for lunch or dinner...... you know this is a steal. This is one of the slowest most disorganized Taco Bell's I've ever encountered. I ordered on the app and it said my order would be ready 20 minutes after I ordered it. I arrived and this place as utter chaos. My guess is that it's management at this place. The workers needed some guidance. They were pleasant however the app said my order was ready and it was not. I waited yet another 20 minutes after it said my order was ready on the app. It was a total of 40 minutes after ordering and after waiting another 20 from the original wait time, I finally gave up and just left. This was my 3rd visit to a Taco Bell Cantina but first to this location. It was the first time I ordered an alcoholic beverage - which is the main difference at a "Cantina." I ordered the frozen margarita with tequila - because you get a choice of alcohol after picking the frozen flavor. For the drink specifically the alcohol was all at the bottom and was difficult to mix. My first sip was like sipping from a shot of straight tequila. I also ordered some spicy potato soft tacos which came out fresh, warm, and tasted like normal. You order at the kiosk, get your drink at the register there (alcoholic or not), and get your food at a different counter. There was a decent amount of seating both inside and outside though at 9 pm on Sunday night a lot of the tables needed to be cleaned. Overall, a decent experience from a Taco Bell. read more

I came to this Taco Bell, bushy eyed and full of hope; excited to try an alcoholic Baja Blast freeze. It is self service so my wife and I each ordered our own as well as an order of nachos. After paying we were informed they didn't not have Baja Blast and only had strawberry and margarita flavor and asked which we would like. We got the strawberry which tasted like cough syrup, I stopped after about two sips. I would be less annoyed/more willing to show grace if it looked like they just ran out of the flavor, however, it appeared that side of the machine had been turned off all day. Even stranger you pick up your food on one end and then wait for your drink (both alcoholic and non alcoholic) and the register area. This causes a lot of confusion especially because someone is not usually at the register area and doesn't have the drink(s) ready. Lastly if you're ordering from the app DON'T select Drive Thru. There is no Drive Thru here and that will prevent your order from being made. The quality of the food is good typically well assembled. The staff is pretty decent depending on what time of the day you go. Lastly there's only street parking which is next to impossible in old town Alexandria on a busy day. However if you're going on a weekday night it's easy to park and run in to grab your order. I deducted one star because the Taco Bell app should not have the option for Drive Thru if there isn't one. read more

Ordered the chalupa meal and two soft tacos and a hard shell taco. First time a franchise had the mountain dew mountain blast zero and I was happy about that...but when I stopped to eat everything was super soggy. Even the chalupas! I ended up throwing the rest of my food away. I usually don't have that type of experience there. I think you need employees that are aware of what they are doing. As most people know, Taco Bell is my husband and I's most favorite fast food establishment EVER, period. Whenever we go back to Vegas, we always make a stop at the Taco Bell Cantina (which should also be renamed to Club Taco Bell since it's always bumpin' with beats) so we were ecstatic to find out that they were opening one in our area! For those who wonder, the Cantina has the full menu but offers alcoholic drinks as well! At this location, they serve beers and frozen margaritias + froze with the option of adding an additional shot with an upcharge. There are 3 self-order kiosks where you can pay. Please note that if you order alcohol, you'll have to go to the bar area to show your ID before they serve you. There's a full menu that includes nacho fries (they're not limited anymore) and also desserts! They will also call your name out once the order is ready for pickup. I ordered the frosé and it was a tad bit sweet. There's an abundance of sauces for your dousing pleasure as well. Since they just opened, there a few kinks that need to be ironed out. The assembly line process was not consistent and orders didn't come out in an efficient manner. Some portions of our orders came out first and the other portions came out 10-15 minutes later. There was only one person who was making the alcoholic drinks and the pickup went by slowly. I'm sure once they figure out their flow, the process will be much smoother! They don't Change the gloves, very unclean and unsanitary kitchen. I wouldn't suggest any one eating at this particular Taco Bell. Like I understand, places are busy but when it becomes unsanitary that's a problem. I literally saw employees t pull up their pants and touch their dirty faces with the same gloves that they use to make the tacos. These employees are putting bacteria on your food directly literally. I used their kiosk to place my order and I sure do wish the kiosk would provide a head's up of how long I would have to wait to get my food, because I waited 25 minutes for 2 freaking burritos after placing my order... the place was packed and they had lots of delivery service drivers coming in for orders (also waiting), but they only had two people working in the kitchen making food! WTH?!?!? When I finally got my 2 burritos, one was good, it was the chicken ranch burrito, but the grilled burrito I ordered with their "famous" ground "beef" in it was nasty! What in the God-given tragedy is this?? First of all--maybe it's because I'm not used to the DC flavor (I'm from New Orleans and visiting DC from Houston), but I've never heard of a Taco Bell without a drive through. But that's whatever. The ordering process is a newfangled mess with kiosks and mild ambiguity with where to pick up your order or how the process works, because heaven forbid these corporations staff their businesses and pay the workers well... One guy in particular drew my ire after a while: about six feet tall, red-complexioned Black guy with eyes pointing away from each other. Mispronouncing my name (I'll clarify later), I paid him and he gave me a cup for my drink. Keep in mind, it was just him, with two team members being total troupers in the kitchen area. But other guests were confused with their orders--where they are and whether or not they're ready. This same gentleman had a spat with what looked like an Uber Eats guy. So I and others are still waiting for our food. The kitchen staff was going as fast as they could, with service still being slow. At the kiosk, you're instructed to enter your first name and last initial. My first name is hard for some to pronounce, and he yelled out "J. H." this time. There's an area clearly marked for mobile orders, but I was unsure if that was also the general pickup counter. As far as I knew, he could well have been calling *me* up there for something with my order. Now he's already yelling out, "Is there a JH? It's that simple!" Legit in an attitude! I walk to him trying to make sure where to pick up orders or if there was a question with mine. Before I could even say anything, "Sir, this isn't your order. You already have your drink." I've had a long day, I was possibly scammed out of $230 on an Airbnb in the ghetto, I nearly cussed out a bus driver for giving me similar attitude for asking a simple question, and I wasn't about to take it from this guy.
