Okay. We have always loved this Taco Bell but last night we went it was so incredibly bad that I feel the need to write about it so someone can try and fix it. It took 45 minutes for us to get our food (and this is not an exaggeration). We stood there watching one order get made which felt like only happened every 15 minutes. It seemed like they were making one item at a time. I have never seen anything less efficient in my life. Hoping someone in management sees these reviews and can figure this out. I have long awaited a Taco Bell Cantina within driving distance to my house and finally, the Taco Bell gods have graced me with this place. I don't care if you think Taco Bell is garbage or low class or whatever old, preconceived notions you have. This place is heaven on earth. We rolled up here on a Friday night to find it fairly packed. Some families picking up dinner, some people just coming in for the drinks, others just in awe of its high tech existence. We decided to order on the electronic screens and were not disappointed. The alcoholic Baja blasts are sweet but aren't extremely overpriced. When you use the screens to order you are able to easily customize your order without worry or human error. We ordered, got our IDs checked, and waited maybe 6 minutes to get our food. We ended up posting up in the outdoor seating area, which I loved minus our table being slightly broken. The food was amazing, particularly fresher than most Taco Bell locations I've been to. AND they didn't mess anything up in the order, all customizations were served as so. We enjoyed the alcoholic slushees but they are quite sweet so beware. Only complaint is that they need bathroom stalls and not one stall for men and one for women. read more

Taco Bell Cantina por la gente! I went in on a Saturday, early evening. The vibe is relaxed, kind of like a chipotle. There was a diverse crown there, young and old, families and people with friends or on dates. I got a chicken "bowl," (basically their version of a burrito bowl, but not as much food as chipotle. Not quite as good either, but it gets the job done and it's way cheaper) and a chalupa. You can order everything on a screen, which is cool, because everything is totally customizable from that screen. You know we had to try the Baja Blast, "twisted" with rum. It's just over $6 and believe it or not, they use Bacardi. There was an option to add one (or TWO) extra shots, so, you know. They know why we're here. I was hoping it would be more of a bar atmosphere, but it was still fun and so so affordable. They have a front porch where it will be nice to sit when the weather is nicer. Live mas! read more

We all know that Most Taco Bell's don't always measure up to the way we vision it in our heads, and usually there's a few things wrong with our orders or they just don't put enough sauce, meat, etc. and it's all around disappointing. But not this Taco Bell, this one literally had me so swindled by how good my food was I felt the need to write about it, which I never do. They actually put meat and cheese in quantity on my food and it was warm and melty like it's supposed to be. I love Taco Bell, not gonna lie about it. I know it's always gonna be like, just a little bit gross, but it's in the best possible way, y'know?! And this is certainly an upgrade on your typical Taco Bell experience, I'll grant you that. The interior is sleek, modern, and looks really good. They have digital screens to make ordering a snap, and offer goodies that you can't get at just any ol' TB, including a frozen rose drink and shareable appies. Fun! The Nacho Chicken Chips are a really fun and tasty shared app, though while the Cheesy Jalapeno roll-ups are exactly as advertised -- cheese, pickled jalapenos, and tortilla -- I can't say I'll be ordering those again. I enjoyed my Baja Blast and my SIL seemed to like her froze. However, there were a few hiccups to our experience that keeps this from being a 5-star fast food favorite: 1. Confusion as to how collecting your drinks work, they should have something pop on the screen that clearly instructs you to go to the counter to pick up your beverages (and then my brother got attitude from the person behind the counter when we finally asked how to get our drinks.) 2. No utensils out, had to ask for a fork. 3. No changing table in the men's restroom (hello, it's 2019!), and was out of paper towels. They are still quite new so I'm sure they'll be continuing to iron out some of their kinks, and while I can't say I'll be making a habit of going out of my way to get to this location, if Taco Bell were to continue turning the rest of their restaurants into Cantina-style joints, I would most definitely NOT be mad about it. read more

Stopped by here around 1 am. I vaguely remember eating tacos. To my surprise, they had margaritas!!! which was exactly what I needed after a night of pounding boots of beer and jaeger shots....I would bet a smashes 4 chalupas and 3 soft tacos. The only downside is they wouldn't serve us shots of tequila. Honestly so fun! Everything you love abut taco bell + alcohol, how can you go wrong? When I went, the only way to order was via the touchscreen kiosk. I'm not sure if that's the case all the time. But it was really convenient anyway and gave me ample time to look over the many combos, sides, options, and drinks. So the food is the same whatever whatever, next topic. There were 3 frozen alcoholic drink options. You could choose to get a baja blast, a margarita, or a Frosé. For the baja blast and the marg, you could choose to add Tequila, Vodka, or Rum. You can add additional shots for a few bucks. I got a few drinks lol but I remember one of them with 2 shots was about $10. Pretty worth it in my opinion because it also tasted really good... you could barely taste the alc. They also have beer options, but I'm not much of a beer person so I didn't pay much attention. It was cool though, they filled the cups from the bottom with one of those machines. Street parking only. And kinda small, so if it can get crowded pretty easily. I went on a Friday night and I was happy to see there was security present since it can get rowdy. The bathrooms were really clean, single bathrooms. You need a code to get into them. I came here for an early lunch today because I happened to be walking around Old Town. Even though they offer breakfast at this hour, I already knew that I wanted to order their tried and true tacos. Besides this restaurant for breakfast didn't make much sense. I ordered four regular crunchy tacos from the self serve kiosk, and the process was fast and easy. One of the employees provided me with a cup for water, and soon enough I was looking around for a table to sit. The restaurant was pretty- much vacant except for the employees working behind the counter and in the kitchen. The ambience is modern and they feature several large screen televisions. The main TV had the value turned up to 9 and blaring loud with a football game playing, which made it a little uncomfortable to chill and eat your meal. We just showed up at 1:25 and the staff yelled at us and said they are closed and we should've known they would be closed because they are not well staffed. There were at least eight employees visible. Not sure what's going on, but they should change the hours on the front of the door if they are going to close early. Another oddity was one of them yelling at us to go to McDonald's or Bob Evans if we wanted something. I guess even if they aren't going to update hours on the door, the people that work there should not be rude. All very strange and too bad because it's otherwise a cool spot. read more

Last night I accidentally picked up the wrong order (because of shouting of extremely similar names and no tickets on the order) I took the order back once I realized it was wrong, except for a burrito I had already opened. I was rudely demeaned by three women behind the register who continuously scolded me about having "stolen" someone else's food and as a result they would not make the order I paid for or offer a refund. Any attempts at describing what had happened- that it was an accident- that I kept the burrito because I had already opened it before I realized it was the wrong order- were not heard. The staff kept talking over me and heating up the situation by refusing to listen to me or offering basic customer service. They told me they would not make my order because I "stole" someone's burrito from their order. So I left, after paying money for food that I never received and getting the most frustrated I've ever been in a restaurant. Went to the Taco Bell Cantina today for their first official opening day. As a true and outspoken lifelong taco bell fan, today was a bit disappointing. The restaurant itself looked nice and I liked the concept, but the food was quite underwhelming. I would've been more than content with normal taco bell food, but even that fell short. See my picture... Not a great experience for my first impression of the new style Cantina. Howveer, the Baja Blast Twisted Freeze with Tito's is AMAZING. Update: 01/27/2019 I love Taco Bell, and I was in the area so I decided to give this place another chance. I tried the Beach Berry Freeze and it was such a great flavor, and I believe it is exclusive to this location since I haven't seen it at any others. I also got an order of nachos with cheese, a steak chalupa, and the Nacho Fries Supreme. Once again, I'm underwhelmed with the taste and presentation of my food. I want to rate this Taco Bell much higher, but I can't. I have gone here several times in hopes it would get better. I have been patient and waited to write this review after they had been open an ample amount of time to work out their kinks. EVERY single time I have come to this location there has been an issue. I have ordered from the inside Kiosk and waited 20 minutes before an employee told me they never got my order. I have ordered via mobile order and they never received my order as well. Once addressed, the workers have been kind and fixed the problem. I have left the restaurant and gotten home to realize that items are missing or are incorrect altogether. Tonight my husband ordered a steak burrito and began eating it to find out there is NO steak inside. This is a $6 burrito! I really hope they are able to make improvements. We were very excited when they opened, but are finding it to be more of a hassle to go here than it is worth. My recommendation: if your order is not up within 5 minutes max, notify an employee. They are quick so they most likely did not get the order. Also, check all items before leaving and open them up and check the ingredients inside as well. If you do these things it will be manageable to eat here. read more

Oh taco bell. We're supposed to come to you *after* we drink. Being able to drink while at the bell is so dangerous. The drinks you can get are beer and frozen margs only. I loved the self order kiosks, we ordered a frozen marg and a dos equis (and a few normal menu taco bell items). *Beer: The beer system is a fun to watch, a magnet pushes the cup bottom up to allow the beer to flow in from the bottom, preventing an overly large head. That said, you can push that magnet up yourself with your finger while there is liquid in there and it will spill, so don't do this my science experimenty-minded friends. *Marg: Too sweet for me personally, but the novelty of it is pretty great. The tequila pour is metered. The space is swanky! They had 3 TVs, one playing wreck it ralph (not sure if it always plays kid friendly things but that'd be a strong move) and the other 2 I think had sports. read more

After visiting the TB Cantina in Las Vegas I was pretty stoked that we were getting one in Alexandria. Sadly (and I suppose not surprisingly) ours isn't as cool as the one in Vegas. What makes it better than a normal TB? Cool interior design, outdoor seating, touch screen ordering, some extra menu items made for sharing, and boozy drink options. The bad? While you can do touch screen ordering you still have to wait in line to show your ID before they'll even make your boozy drink. So...might as well just wait in line and order everything with a real person. Lesson learned. I'm also used to a great customer service experience with my Falls Church TB and was just disappointed in general about how unnecessarily rude the service here was. I get it--sometimes you just have a bad day but how hard is it to be civil? My other pet peeve was that there was no baby changing table in the men's bathroom. Sometimes I just need a break from changing the baby and want to know that if I give her to my husband he's not going to have to change her on a dirty bathroom floor. So while this TB may boast some modern decor they are still pretty old school in that regard. All of that being said, I do love me some Taco Bell. The food is the same as anywhere else and having an alcohol drink with your value menu burrito is a fun novelty. There are lots of other places to eat in Old Town so I can't say I'll be going out of my way to come back but still glad it's here. read more

What a fun new spot. Kind of random location and far from DC, but it is neat that Taco Bell now can serve alcohol! The drinks are not too pricey unless you get a double shot for which you will pay ~$12 or so. The food is the same as every taco bell but for the most part you can order via the touch screen. My husband and I had ordered 8 items, but the staff seemed so flustered that they could not get our order correct,I had to point on our e-receipt the exact items that were missing in order to get them back, and this happened to several members of our party as well which was quite frustrating and upsetting. We stopped there twice in the last two weeks and it's kind of a place that makes you feel embarrassed to eat at. There is a bouncer at the door that turns most everybody away. Unless if you look like you might have a little bit of money, the rest are told that there isn't any food ready, or that they're out of food. They say all their orders are going over the Internet to delivery service so they are swamped, and can't make anything. Two weeks ago when we were there, we were told to come back in half an hour by the bouncer who waits outside with the door locked and turns people away, He only lets in a select few privileged patrons so if you're willing to get an order that is incomplete and wrong and you do it on the Taco Bell app And wait around 45 minutes you will get your order The staff seem to be over work and overwhelmed as well as preoccupied with not letting people in the door so they don't get swamped. Management could hire a few more people because they are losing lots of business in the evening shifts Around 11 o'clock is the worst. They don't seem to like their job a whole lot. More than half of their labor is spent chasing people way instead of making food. The guy standing outside chasing people away could be inside making something for them to eat This time he turned a young lady away who then waited outside at one of the café tables. It seems a bit contradictory that a business that touts itself as a "late night" destination, should be open to its designated time, per the sign posted on the window. I felt like I died and went to fast food heaven as soon as I stepped into the Cantina. The menu may be the same as the regular locations, but is presented in a different manner than I'm used to. I haven't been to a regular Taco Bell in quite some time. I had to take a moment to really think about what I wanted. I ended up going with standard tacos and lots of hot sauce (can't go wrong). My bf ordered a bowl, which he seemed to enjoy. One of the popular choices was the spiked freezes. Everyone had one of those, including yours truly. You have the option of choosing a flavor and your liquor of choice! Charice was our girl. She gave us lots of suggestions, and provided great service to us. Shoutout to her! I'm normally very opposed to Taco Bell food products however, I was talked into trying out the Taco Bell cantina in Alexandria and I must say it's a pretty interesting idea. The location itself doesn't necessarily stand out amongst all the other shops, stores, and restaurants in the old town area so you may end up going right by it without even knowing. I checked in on a Wednesday afternoon with a few friends and it isn't the biggest place but serves its purpose with a long table inside a few small tables and chairs located on the steps just outside. The menu itself pretty standard Taco Bell fare burritos, tacos, nachos, etc. I ended up trying out the chicken chips and paired it with one of the signature drinks the Baja blast but with an added twist 2 tequila shots which turned out to be a solid mixture. The cantina provides the option to add alcohol in their frozen drinks which ends up making an actual meal a little pricer than it normally would be but definitely well worth it. In addition premium brands are used (I was expecting a bottom shelf unknown brands) and you get to choose between vodka, tequila, and rum. Generally speaking the drinks aren't already infused with the various liquors but they are provided as shots poured on top of whatever flavored frozen beverage you choose but works out all the same. This probably wouldn't be my ideal spot for a random happy hour outing but the service and workers were quick and helpful and it's definitely worth checking out as a refreshing spin on a typical fast food chain. read more

Taco Bell is one of my fast food indulgences and I'm glad they have moved on in to old town, which is a fast food desert. The cantina kicks it up a notch by serving beer and liquor in their freezes, but the food menu remains the same. Same prices, same yummy indulgent tbell. Can't eat here everyday obviously but I am happy to have the option. Oh and the self service kiosks allow you to browse the menu without squinting and looking up at their tiny print posted menu while a cashier is waiting for you! read more
