Never much have this place a second look. I pass through here every time I go to market street. Decided to give a try one for brunch and I was pleasantly surprised. The customer service is genuine and they greet everyone that walk through the door. I've had three dishes so far, all brunch, and all have been great. I first heard of the franchise because of some friends I have in Flower Mound, TX that wanted to visit the one up there since they have vegan options. I Visited this location in hopes that it would be as good as the one in Flower Mound Texas. Unfortunately it was not. I was pretty excited that they carried the Xingu beer, a delicious Brazilian black beer , and wanted the same meal I had from the other location further north, the "ranchero" since it was very good! I brought a party of five, as we wanted to find something to eat after having Cinnaholic in the area. To start: my sister's and I's food was lukewarm and cold. Especially the rice and beans. Secondly, though we all ordered verbally and sat down to receive our food later, the clerk later told the person waiting on their food for 20minutes that he didn't put her order in...lol!!! C'mon folks. So we were patient, and took the opportunity to tell them that the food was cold and brought up several issues with the dine in. The manager at the time said that she was busy, basically saying that she didn't have time to address our concerns at the moment, and sent someone else over. There was a lot of back and forth. It was a complete terrible customer service experience. One in my party was supposed to be refunded for their order but has yet to receive it and it's been more than a week. The best service I have had at a restaurant in a really long time. The manager, Cole, and server, Harrison had great customer service. We never ran out of drinks, chips, or queso. Different variety of taco options. I liked the sweet plantains in the taco - interesting combination. The queso dip was great. The waiter was friendly, attentive without hovering, and got our orders out to us quickly. The space is a bit small, but it didn't feel crowded or cramped. Cole is such a good manager and makes sure that this restaurant is always ran well. Harrison was our server and made sure that our chips never ran out and consistently checked on us. Prerequisite: the full menu is not on the board above the register; grab one from the holder by the door or on the counter up at the register. It's a walk-in, order, take a number, find a spot, they bring your food to you place. This type of quasi-fast food is quite popular nowadays. The full menu on the board could help not make new patrons feel awkward when walking in for the first time; your eye is drawn to the board and the register attendant immediately says "the full menu is behind you or here on the counter." Off-putting, I'd rather hear a "Welcome! Let me know if you have questions and order when you're ready!" Or something like that. Tip: Sit at the bar for "full service" and a beer or an aqua fresca. Offerings: Chips, Salsa, Queso, Guacamole, Chicharrones, Tostadas (veggie/vegan), Tortas, Salads, Tacos (soft, corn and flour), Quesadillas, Taco/Tostada Plates, Flan, Cheesecake, Kids Meals and Breakfast (until 11am). Relatively good food. The Queso is good but thickens quickly as it cools. The salsa is good, but bland. Most of the food has been on the bland side for the most part except for the breakfast Ocho Stack I have had previously. The items marked with a red pepper on the menu are actually just the more flavorful items, they have not proven to be spicy as of yet. The tostadas are delicious! The combinations are pleasing, but, still, the ones not marked with a pepper need a little something; more seasoning? The seating arrangements are intimate on one side, and sparse on the other leaving a bar seating side against a wall and a giant picnic table at the front on one side, and a couple smaller picnic table style tables at the front on the other side along with a bunch of super cozy hope-you-know-your-neighbor two-tops. They are comfy, but very close together. Just sit outside. :) The service is hit and miss. In the three times I've been, one time was amazing service, one was takeout, the other, this time, was awkward. It's very strange when an attendant/server avoids eye contact with a patron. I eventually had to say "excuse me" a little louder than I'd like to get one of their attention for a To Go container. This also drew attention from my all-too-close two-top neighbors; not my desired experience, but fixable. Well this is one of my favorite restaurants...the food, the service has always been so great. Tonight was so different. I walked in and it wasn't busy and I said "okay to sit anywhere?" As thats what I usually get told when I come and I got a nod. So I picked a table in the back. A server approached me with a bit of an attitude and said he hadn't wiped the table, I said okay not a problem can you wipe it down? He then got busy and I had to flag him down. I had not been given a menu. He then says "next time you come in wait to be seated". I said I come here all the time. He then said there is a sign that says "wait to be seated"! But I got the nod to sit anywhere! Customer service had never been an issue the many times I've dined here. I wasn't comfortable to have him as my server so I asked for someone else. Cole came to the rescue. He apologized profusely. He said this is not how we do business and I agree it's never been my experience. I had never seen this server before so perhaps he was new. Well, I paid $3.50 for a taco... and it didn't change my life... so that means the highest they can get is 4 stars. Don't get me wrong though, price point aside, they earned all the other stars! I stopped in Friday afternoon close to 3:30pm. They are located in the Market Street shopping center on 2499 and 3040, but aren't super visible from the road, because of the gas station up front on the corner. I didn't get a lunch, so after my appointments were done I was looking for a snack to hold me off until dinner time. I walked through their patio area outside to get to their front door and it seemed like a very welcoming spot on a nice day. When I entered there was immediately a counter with a menu above it. My menu anxiety kicked in fast and right as I was wondering what any of these things meant (there were no descriptions) Kevin read my mind and beckoned me forward to the printed menus on the counter top. Those had descriptions, thank God! Since I knew I wasn't looking to get too full, I ignored the quesadillas, tostadas and such and focused on the dozen or so tacos. About half the tacos are spicy and they had multiple veggie and vegan options, so they are definitely casting a wide net for their customer base. That's smart. I ordered the Coco Connection and spent $3.79 after tax. The description was Colombian coconut chicken, cojita cheese and I got it easy on the cilantro. Kevin continued to be friendly and helpful recommending the flour tortilla when I asked what was best here. He went over all the drink options and craft sodas and had a great attitude. I took my number to find a table. They have several bench tables up front and seating at the bar, but there were plenty of tables with cushioned bench seats so I went to those with my number and the water glass Kevin volunteered to me. On the way, I was greeted multiple times by people who were actively cleaning and stocking. The staff here is top notch and stayed busy, but were really friendly to each person who came in. A+ for service! My table and bench were super comfortable and there were TVs everywhere so you didn't have to turn or strain to see. The place was colorful and bright with the light from the windows. Atmosphere was very relaxing and I was digging the vibe so A+ there too! My food came pretty quickly, maybe around 5 minutes (the person who delivered it was super friendly too). As soon as I picked it up a puddle of orange juices started forming that flowed until it was huge by the time I was done eating. Not super appetizing but the taco tasted good. The taco was more filling than I thought it would be, if you're hungry I would go with the 2 taco plate to get full though. I enjoyed the flavors that were put together in this taco and would classify it as good, greasy comfort food. Don't come here if you are on a diet. The flour tortilla was thinner than I expected, but it did hold up nicely to the greasy taco filling, so no real issue there. After one visit, I am not 100% sold on the tacos being a value at $3.50, but I am interested to return and try other items. The flavors work nicely so it's a matter of finding the right vehicle for those flavors (nachos, torta, salad, etc) to make it a better value for personal taste. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and excellent service so I will be back to try more and say this place is worth a try at least once! read more

When we pulled up to the storefront, it was a little earlier than the estimated time we were given when we ordered online, but when I called they said they saw us pull up and our order would be out soon. Our food came out pretty quickly after I called. We ordered from the breakfast/brunch menu! My husband got the burrito (bigger than he anticipated) and a taco and I got the Ocho stack! The food was delicious... sooo good! It was hot and fresh even after driving about 10mins home! The flavors were great and the ingredients seems very fresh! The potato side for the Ocho stack was surprisingly my favorite thing, but the stack itself was delicious as well! We also ordered the chips and queso and we enjoyed that as well. We will definitely be ordering for breakfast again and trying their lunch/dinner menu! read more

I've been getting lunch here for a few years now whenever I am working in flower mound. I am still in love with the coco connection chicken taco and fish taco. Queso and salsa are also great. I don't usually eat the rice but the black beans are great so I always get the plate. My only complaint would be that several times they have gotten my order wrong and I don't notice it until I'm back at the office. For example today I ordered coco connection and got a beef taco with plantains, definitely not a fan of that one. First off- the 1 star is NOT for the food. The food is amazing. 5 stars. Love it. Breakfast burrito is out of this world. I specifically drive 25 min out of my way to go to Taco Ocho. But the one star review I'm leaving is because of the WORST service of one particular person. She has continually been passive aggressive and RUDE to my boyfriend and I multiple times. As if we were inconveniencing her by just being there. It's ruined our experience several times. I've also witnessed her barking orders at other servers, while she just stands on her phone. I don't like coconut but I really liked that taco. The pork was okay. Great salsas! No doubt top 10 but not too 5 be any means. The food upset my stomach, but with my diet I'm not complaining too much. Could of been worse! The bartender did not charge me for the drinks and was very polite. I have only tried the Beef Fajita and Smoked Chicken Elote tacos. I did not like the beef fajita with the fixings it came with and it's cooked in a citrus marinade. I ordered it as it was made to try it. I could pass on this one. I did like the chicken very much. It's has a chipotle flavor, corn and cotija cheese among the ingredients. I've gone back for this one! My overall take is that they are Tex-Mex, gourmet tacos. If you enjoy authentic Mexican food this is not the place for you. But if you like to venture off in the TEX-Mex realm, you'll like this place. The establishment is very clean and the staff is very friendly. The orders come out fairly quickly. They have soft drinks, tea and alcoholic beverages. They also have a kid menu. It has a small patio but there is plenty of seating inside. They had some music and some TVs. Light hearted. Service: The cashier was helpful in explaining their food options and probably the only bright spot about this place. The food took 15+ minutes to come out (we all ordered tacos). We ordered no cheese on one of their tacos and had to send it back, only to have to wait another 10 minutes for one taco to be made. Thank goodness we ordered their lackluster chips and guacamole to keep us at bay! Food: I ordered two tacos as recommended. The meat was dry, the portions small, and lacked flavor. The tacos did not have significant contributions of other ingredients. I left very unsatisfied and wanting to go to chipotle or something to fill my stomach. This place is trying to go for the upscale, fast-casual look like torchy's. While their prices are about 25-50 cents cheaper, their food and atmosphere are SIGNIFICANTLY worse. Don't come here. Go to Torchy's. I do give them 2 stars (instead of 1) because although I was dissatisfied, I would still eat their food if it was free. read more

My husband and I enjoy seeing movies at the Flower Mound Moviehouse, but have become tired of their menu. Therefore we are always on the lookout for places to have dinner at beforehand that are close by which is how we found Taco Ocho. It's an order at the counter place, but they do give you a number and have someone bring your food out which is cool. The employees were extremely kind and didn't rush us while we browsed their menu. We both decided on the 2 taco plate that comes with your choice of any two tacos (excluding the ancho garlic shrimp or cabo fish which are a 50 cent upcharge) plus rice and beans. That also included a generous portion of chips and salsa per person, and the option of either flour or white corn tortillas. I like to get one veggie and one protein, so I chose the jalapeño pork and rico ocho tacos. The pork taco simply had cilantro and queso fresco and was very good. I would have preferred it to pack more of a punch in terms of heat, so I will ask for a side of salsa next time. The pork was a tad dry too so I think the addition of salsa could help take care of that as well. The rico ocho was a fun mix of black beans, fried plantains, potatoes, red onions, jicama, green & red cabbage, and cilantro. Like the pork it too was dry, but the flavors were all there and complimented each other nicely. Both of us loved the rice here as well as the queso fresco they sprinkle over the refried black beans. My husband got the jalapeño pork taco like I did, but also tried one called the Latin Love. That one had shredded beef, fried plantains, refried black beans, salsa verde, and cotija cheese. He said it was a little sweet for his taste but that he still enjoyed it. Overall, the amount of food we got for the price we paid was really great. They have some creative flavor combinations and I look forward to trying more. We will definitely stop by again before another movie. Wanted to try this place as I am part Spanish so have a deep passion for Latin food, Spanish and Mexican food and how it's prepared.. I ordered 3 tacos the descriptions on the menu made me imagine that each of the selections would be bursting with flavors .. jalapeño pork - beef fajita and beef Colorado .. so my experience was starting with the portion first - the size of the tacos were large and plentiful - the flavor of the tacos were not as I hoped they were not bad by any means but they were very average the flavor descriptions on the menu were far more exciting then the taste .. I didn't taste any jalepeno I found the beef Colorado to taste exactly like shredded beef with basic seasoning and the fajita beef was like a broiled meat not a grilled taste just very basic and a bit chewy .. I ordered two on corn and one on flower the tortillas were not homemade and so I didn't care for the taste too much .. but if your a person who like more of a mild taste you will like .. they need to add some zest the salsa provided was basic purée of tomato onion and peppers nothing special I wish they had a creamy sauce of sort to jazz them up a bit. So not for me but others may like :) I ordered on taco Tuesday so prices were a bit less the norm. read more

Great for Vegetarians! I love this place. The food is prepared the same way I would cook it. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, if not overly fast. The place is more laid back and social, the staff talks to the customers and to each other, but the food still gets out pretty fast. I've been there 5-7 times so far and the food has always gotten to me quickly enough and hot. As of this writing the place is still pretty new and they are still training to settle in an efficient staff IMHO. Like others have said, the best place to eat is at the bar. My wife and I have never sat at one of the tables, we always sit at the bar. The menu is quite different from what you see in the hoard of Tex-Mex places you would assume a place called Taco-Ocha would be part of. Other than the Tostado Americano which is a standard Tex-Mex black bean tostado, all of the other items I've tried are pretty unique. I particularly like the Yucatan Tostado which has a sauce with a strong poblano flavor and includes potatoes in its toppings. Check out the menu on line before you go otherwise you may spend a bit of time with the menu, everything on it is pretty unique and different, but the tastes and flavors are down home South American and familiar once you start eating. I am giving Taco-Ocho 5 stars not for 5 star food, its pretty much just good Tex-Mex level, but because of the uniqueness of its food and the overall experience.
