First part of my review is a big thumbs down on the "soft drinks" - see picture of drink machine. I will have to bring my own Sprite for future reference. Next, I love the cod taco!!!!!! In the future I'll ask for light sauce. It's prob fine for most people. Between the color of the plate and my questionable at times vision - I could not see the black beans on my plate. I took my plate up and asked about them and was told they are right there. Ohhh I said and sat back down. The waiter brings over a side of black beans and I explained I just couldn't see them on the plate not that I didn't think there wasn't enough of them. The fajita chicken taco is ok - kind of like chicken stew. Love the cilantro rice. Really hard to enjoy the meal without a drink. I tried 2 flavors of drinks, neither goes with Tex Mex in my opinion. I don't like tea and I only drink bottled water so I am out of luck in this drink dept. I would come back for the cod taco with beans and rice with my own drink. read more

Great for Vegetarians! I love this place. The food is prepared the same way I would cook it. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, if not overly fast. The place is more laid back and social, the staff talks to the customers and to each other, but the food still gets out pretty fast. I've been there 5-7 times so far and the food has always gotten to me quickly enough and hot. As of this writing the place is still pretty new and they are still training to settle in an efficient staff IMHO. Like others have said, the best place to eat is at the bar. My wife and I have never sat at one of the tables, we always sit at the bar. The menu is quite different from what you see in the hoard of Tex-Mex places you would assume a place called Taco-Ocha would be part of. Other than the Tostado Americano which is a standard Tex-Mex black bean tostado, all of the other items I've tried are pretty unique. I particularly like the Yucatan Tostado which has a sauce with a strong poblano flavor and includes potatoes in its toppings. Check out the menu on line before you go otherwise you may spend a bit of time with the menu, everything on it is pretty unique and different, but the tastes and flavors are down home South American and familiar once you start eating. I am giving Taco-Ocho 5 stars not for 5 star food, its pretty much just good Tex-Mex level, but because of the uniqueness of its food and the overall experience. Disappointing service today! I have been going here for the last month or so and added to my favorites due to quality of food and service to this point. Usually a very friendly young lady behind bar and occasionally the owners is their always helping ensuring service. Today was different story completed ignore for 15 min while server talked to customer at counter 1/2 way through their conversation another associate came up and and joined conversation and poured them drinks all while completely ignoring us. We gave them the benefit of doubt and thought ok after they finish gushing over their regulars they will at least acknowledge us, wishful thinking walked right by us. My mom is visiting from Minneapolis and had a hankering for Mexican food. I remembered seeing Taco Ocho so we thought we'd give it a try. We got there just after the lunch rush. We sat at the bar so we could thoroughly check out the menu instead of waiting in line. The bartender was very friendly and helpful. She gave us a good run down on the options and gave us space to mull it over. We both decided to try the 2 item plate - taco and tostada. We both ordered the Azteca tostada. I ordered the beef Colorado taco and Mom got the ancho garlic shrimp taco. They started us out with some deliciously thin chips with a yummy smoked salsa that had just the right amount of heat. When our plates arrived we were impressed with the portions. Everything was fresh tasting and tasty and had lovely presentation. We didn't order any drinks but their drink prices were very good. Now we're thinking we have to go back before she heads home so we can try the world famous queso that we somehow missed. And a different taco or two. Oh how I love Taco Ocho! When i worked in Richardson it was one of my favorite lunch spots, so I was understandably excited to see one was opening here in Flower Mound. I was hoping it was as good as i remember. I stopped in and got my good old reliable two taco plate, which comes with rice, beans and chips. Delicious! My favorite tacos are the Latin Lover, with spicy beef, and the Beef Colorado with spicy shredded beef. Fantastic. I have also tried the Pork taco and Spicy chicken, as well as both fajita meats. Unlike some other taco spots, they load you up with meat here so you get a nice fat taco with fresh toppings. Decent beer selection as well. There is no need to go to Fuzzys any more..... read more

When I lived in the area, I used to go to the location in Richardson. I was happy to learn they expanded to Flower Mound. It is a family owned restaurant with Latin fusion menu. My favorite item is the Latin Love tacos. It has shredded beef and fried plantains. The meal comes with beans and seasoned white rice. Called these guys day of for a luncheon I was told that I was hosting that morning. All I heard was: "yes", "no problem ", " we can have it done whenever you need it" They suggested lunch boxes and we chose the smoked shredded chicken and fajita beef tacos. My customers raved about it being the best lunch that vendors have supplied in a long time. Engineering Mgr wanted their card so they could use them in the future. Talk about attention to details, we had 2 enclosed aluminum pans that turned out to be ice for the drinks. NOBODY ever remembers that!! We visited when they first opened and were not happy, disappointed in fact. We saw that it still was open after a couple years and gave it a 2nd and now 3rd chance. It's really hitting a pace and we were very pleased. The veggie selection is amazing as well as the spices noted on some of the tacos. I wish I could review the food, but as I was walking in, I was fumbling with getting my mask on right (the restaurant was empty, btw) before I made it 2 steps in and mask being placed, a waitress with a long brown pony tail loudly chastised me from across the room about the mask not being on proper. A totally rude tone, no 'please' or request, just a rude order as if I was a child.... this isn't about politics, though it is still funny that COVID apparently doesn't affect those sitting, only standing... this review is about unacceptable rudeness. Got up and left and will never return. And as we were leaving, she again yelled at me about my mask not being placed properly. Stopped here on the way home from church today for some breakfast tacos. Kept it very basic with bacon egg and cheese, and chorizo egg and cheese tacos. Very tasty and well stuffed. The chorizo has a nice smoky flavor and wasn't all greasy like some places I have tried. I liked the thinner, not so heavy, flour tortillas. The salsas were both excellent with the red very mild and the green with a good bite. Most of all, I enjoyed the friendly service. I've been frequenting Taco Ocho since they opened up in Richardson several years ago back when they had those incredible sweet potato fries and loved that they decided to open up one nearby! The atmosphere is casual for sure but there's definitely a hint of elegance that makes dining in a pleasant experience. The prices are...a bit on the high side but the food is excellent. I definitely recommend the chips and queso, as their queso recipe is great. A little familiar, but great. For an entree, despite it being called TACO ocho, I recommend either the Chicken Tinga Torta or the spicy chicken quesadilla. That's not to say their tacos are bad, it's just that these dishes are so good. The bread on the torta is soft with the slightest crunch and the chicken is flavorful with some avocado and sauces and black beans and lettuce and...now I'm hungry just thinking about it. Also a bonus to the place is that the fountain drinks are all craft sodas and so good. I might just have to head over to Taco Ocho soon. The food was actually very good. The reason I'm giving it three stars is based on the price and the amount of food. I paid $69 for four two-taco plates, a Cuban sandwich, and a quesadilla. No drinks. For tortillas, cheese, and a little bit of meat, that seems a little pricey. Moreover, we got our dinner to go (COVID...ugh), and the meals included about a quarter cup of rice and a tablespoon of black beans each. Meh. Find a taco truck instead. read more
