I honestly only come here because my father works down the street and it is convenient for us when I take him to work. The food is ok, nothing spectacular. But the one thing that I despise the most, is rude/unprofessional waitstaff. With one in particular (I'm not sure of her name) the blonde/Hispanic waitress. Have you ever walked into a restaurant and immediately known that you were not liked? Obviously forcing our table on another because she didn't want to take it. When you ask a simple question, for example, "What exactly is in a country and egg taco?" Only to be cut off (before your question was stated fully) to a short response of "country and egg." Or my favorite, when you ask for a drink refill and you receive the biggest, loudest (put out) sigh ever. If she doesn't like her job, or the patrons that pay to eat there. (Like my father, who goes practically every morning.) Maybe she shouldn't work there. Customer service (along with quality of food) is what makes people return to your business, it's what helps bring in new people. Being a sour-puss doesn't. I just had the most amazing new to me plate of food here! Quesabirria tacos! Birria is a flavorful and tender stew made w goat (cabrito?), usually, but I guess some people use pork. The unique flavors of the spices used in the broth is the key to this stew. Unctuous, tomatoey, w plenty of red chile flavor but not so hot you're crying over your tacos! And the meat is not at all gamey, assuming they're using goat and not pork. I didn't care which meat they used, I couldn't get enough! The corn tortillas of the quesabirria tacos seem to be dunked in this broth, then filled with the stewed goat meat and cheese, then flattened on the grill to crisp them before playing, like a corn quesadilla. Served aujus, w a cup of the luscious broth, and cilantro/diced onion on the side. I'm going back for more asap! read more

My wife and I were looking for good Mexican breakfast and we saw this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. It was not a disappointment. My wife ordered the Huevos a la Mexicana and I ordered the Chilaquiles. My wife loved her plate and I loved my plate. Hard to find good chilaquiles sometimes. My first time here was while waiting for a prescription to get filled at the Brookhollow HEB. Hard to find hole-in-the-wall, open only for breakfast & lunch, it's in the little bunch of storefronts perpendicular to Brookhollow, even though it has a San Pedro address. Here's the deal- lots of places that brag about having great Breakfast Tacos don't even make their own flour tortillas (I'm looking at you Torchy's) let alone corn. If you've never had an EXCELLENT corn tortilla- one that doesn't fall apart and deposit its innards back on your plate or in your lap, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE MISSING! Their homemade corn tortillas is what gets us to go the extra few miles to their store rather than other, closer locations. They are freaking AWESOME. Never had a bad meal, open seats even at 10am on a Saturday AM. Reasonable wait time for prep and delivery to the table, ok noise level and excellent pricing for the quantities IMO. Getting out of First Watch is close to $15 a head, with tax & tip. Here it's about $10. Try it, you'll like it (and love it if you eat fresh, hot corn tortillas!) read more

For years now I've gotten coffee right across the parking lot from this little Mexican restaurant. Never once I walked in until a couple of weeks ago with one of my children. I love this place! It is one of those that is a hidden treasure. Cause I honestly would not have known it was here if I hadn't lived in the neighborhood before. So it's even more perfect! Never ridiculously crowded! I've dined in the restaurant and have also ordered to go. Either way they never fail! Their food is always served hot and very delicious! And not only is their salsa spicy, but their pancakes are sooo yumm too! Forget IHOP pancakes, get them here! Their menu is awesome and everything I have tried I have enjoyed! Omg soooo good! We stopped otw back home to Houston and we were very happy. I ordered carne guisada and it was good, but my son ordered flautas and they were amazing!! I almost stole his plate. I'm going to have to make this a new stop every time I'm in San Antonio. Also the corn and flour tortillas were home made and some of the better ones I have had. We saw Taco Tex in the Brook Hollow HEB parking lot shopping center and hoped it would be a go to place for authentic Mexican food. It was amazing !!! I got enchiladas verdes. They were packed with delicious chicken. The tomatillo sauce was perfectly tangy. The beans are creamy and perfect. The rice is perfectly cooked. Homemade tortillas. The breakfast tacos are wonderful as well as their breakfast plates. For lunch I love to order their mini tacos. Normally I eat in the Stone Oak area of town. This was a great find. Kind of a hole in the wall place, not the best tables and chairs inside but the food makes up for everything. I like this place, good food at a good price. The salsas are tasty and spicy. Everything that I've eaten here is good, so I stop back every few weeks. I have only eaten here for lunch, sometimes take out a couple times sat down. The chips and salsa is free if you sit down. It isn't fast food, everything is made to order.
