At most Mexican restaurants I feel like all of the tacos end up being cooked together and taste the same. Nope, not here. Each taco had it's on flavor and was sooo good! I am low-carb so to turn my taco into a lettuce wrap was also a HUGE plus! I will definitely be back for more tacos! Only thing I would change is the size of the margaritas. Generally speaking, Mexican restaurants are known for the big yummy margs. For $10 I was expecting something similar. However, the margs are in a tall slender glass like you would get a mojito in. We went on a Friday night and had a wonderful dinner!! We started with the street corn nachos (amazing), and had a few tacos each for dinner. The brisket and bangin' shrimp were the stars. WOW!!!!!!! These were the best tacos we've EVER had!!! We started with the guacamole, chips and salsa. Guacamole was so fresh and thankfully no onions! When in JAX, MUST go!! Always a great time at Taco Lus. The chips and salsa are delicious. I'm honestly not a fan of their guacamole, it has no flavor, very bland and no spice to it (you're not missing out if you don't get the Guacamole) Iwas going through whole 30 during the most recent visit and they have Protein style tacos (Lettuce wraps) recommend getting the seared tuna tacos, protein style. They have some good sauces to go along with it. They also have a great Jicama salad and i like to add some avocado to it, very filling for a salad! On the weekends and sometimes during the weekdays at dinner time it definitely gets a bit crowded. The bar is first come first serve. And the tables across from the bar are also firstcome first serve! read more

This is by far one of our favorite restaurants! The food is always amazing. The salsa, guacamole, and queso are fresh and devious. The flyin' Hawaiian, banging shrimp, mahi, and $10 taco are some of our favorites. Always ask what their specialty tacos are. The only thing that seems to consistently lack here is quality of servers. The last few times we've been they've been awful from bringing drinks in a timely manner, during a slow period, to refills taking awhile. Now I'm not a taco fan (unless we're talking those Hawaiian Tuna Tartare tacos from Matthews in San Marco!) but I still appreciate good food. That being said, TacoLu has some real good tacos. They also have great drinks but this review is about their tacos. My best friend and boyfriend both love the tacos at TacoLu and have been nagging me for forever now (separately; even though they both know how I feel about Mexican food) that I should give them a shot. Well I did (because I wasn't driving), and they were right. Now I didn't finish all my tacos but each one was a truly delicious mixture of flour tortilla, lettuce/tomato, and seafood. My favorite would have to be the bang bang shrimp with the sauce. Next would have to be the tuna, and then the Baja fish. Honestly their guacamole and salsa is pretty good too. And I love some good guac. Now I'm not about to jump on the Mexican food band wagon anytime soon but I appreciate TacoLu's take on these tacos. Respect earned. read more

One of my favorite taco restaurants in the Jacksonville area. The ingredients and sauces used are high quality and cooked to perfection. Items on the menu are well-priced. The salsa is one of my favorite things about this place, made in-house and tastes delicious. In my opinion, this is the best Mexican place in the area. Taco lu is very local, therefore expect long waits on weekends ( I call ahead). The place is very decorated and has a warm cabin like feeling to it almost with the bar area being all windows and just a fun place, usually crowded. The margaritas are very good however I love this place because of the tacos. There are usual " chicken, carnitas, etc" tacos but then they have their off the menu tacos which changes. This " off the menu" includes fresh seafood tacos ( grilled scallops I have had and they are big and juicy and so fresh, taco rose- ahi Sears tuna, grilled swordfish or salmon , grilled shrimp, grilled mahi mahi, etc) All of these tacos are fresh and unique to this bar. Everything is also reasonably priced for what a good all around experience and great food they have! It's worth the wait ! read more

We were on vacation and came to try this place out. We were so impressed with it! The ambiance & decor were awesome. They had a great drinks menu with lots of different tequila options. The best part is their menu. SO MANY vegetarian & vegan options. I was seriously impressed. Not sure I've ever seen a non vegan/veggie restaurant have so many options. The $10,00 taco was fantastic, I really didn't care for the fish taco too much, and the street corn was great. We also shared the flan for dessert, and it was wonderful. This was my first time trying out TacoLu. Both my tacos were bursting with many different flavors, from spicy to sweet, that combined made for a tasty dinner. My server was helpful and offered suggestions based on best selling items. I had the scallop taco and $10 taco. I couldn't keep my eyes from wondering all over the restaurant as the decor was captavating with bright colored artwork and lights. Honestly I don't get the hype of this place. The food is just ok. The drinks are not great. It's dark and dingy. The only thing I've ever truly enjoyed from here is their queso fundido. It is always very busy and packed at TacoLo, yet it has a great lively atmosphere! The food is great I ordered the The Carne Royale and the Brisket tacos and they were both delicious. I have nothing to complain about its taste. I ordered a mojito which was also delicious! What bothers me is how small their taco portions are; the tortillas are tiny as well as the filling, naturally! (I mean look at the Carne Royale taco, half of it is empty) especially when compared to other Mexican food restaurants in the area. Churros for desert were the best way to end that meal. read more

I love this place and the food is amazing but I Had the nastiest experience tonight. Our server I think her name was Erin, ruined the vibe completely. She greets us and my fiancé realizes she has blood on her nose. He kindly tells her, " I think you're bleeding " and she starts to freak out. We tell her she can go to bathroom, we'll be here when she comes back and she puts her handheld machine in front of her face over our table and casually rubs the blood off her nose then says she'll wash her hands but came back with our drinks immediately....
