I biked past them two years ago and the line out the door was crazy. Thankfully today I was able to pop in without a fuss and their burrito mojado was worth the wait. Put a little extra salsa on top that was available by the counter. No fatty pieces (went with asada) and it wasn't full of fillers either. Friendly and efficient staff. Came here on a Sunday. Typical guy from out of town yelping a taco joint. Found them to be close near the Monterrey exit off the 101 south. Getting there, I had doubts. The streets were empty in the way. Once at the light, you could see all the cars and people. After that, it was a legit spot. At first the prices look expensive for a taco $5 avg. Oh wow that's the best Quesadilla I've had on this side of the border hands down amazing and super scrumptious at every delicious bite! Coming here I wasn't really sure what to expect other than some Mexican food but what we found was totally epic as they are making the tortillas in front of you with an old school DIY press! Of the many delicious options I had to go with a quesadilla as I was drawn in by the huge tortillas they were making I'm glad I did because the carne asada Quesadilla I got was so dang good sooo good in fact we went to get some Mexican food a few days after this and the other place we went to had us thinking of this delicious food again as there's was nothing compared to this! The Quesadilla was huge so big that I didn't even finish it the secret to coming here is to ask them for some of the whole onions they are grilling on top of the meat as they are just packed with flavor and add even more zest to your already delicious meal they are an additional charge but so worth it! Their tacos are just as good as the Quesadilla as they are also on a thick tortilla but definitely not as good as the cheesy goodness that is the Quesadilla! They have a salsa bar with a few combinations of different salsas of them I really enjoyed the avocado salsa as it had a flavor to it that went soo well with the delicious food you totally couldn't go wrong with! Hands down, the best taco place I have tried in my life and their food is worth is EVERY penny. They give great portions and usually with two, I'm full. If I feel a bit risky, I will order three. I usually order asada, chorizo, or al pastor. Every taco is delicious and their tortillas are handmade, which makes the taco 100x better. Their tortas are bomb, too. I always order the asada and it comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo and guacamole. Every bite is filled with explosions of flavor and memories of the tacos in Mexico. You can also add cebollitas (grilled onion) and a grilled jalapeno. They are spicy and are not for the weak. My sister has tried their burritos; usually with Mexican rice, pinto beans, and chicken. Their chicken is moist and tender; it's very good. Their salsas are yummy and I love their Jamaica (hibiscus juice). They also serve Mexican soda in a bottle. Their menudo is yummy and so are their quesadillas. I could go on and on about this place, but I have to end it here. I HIGHLY recommend this place and encourage everyone to try it. read more

Look, I hadn't been to Tacos Ameca in a long time. I took my dad to try theses tacos the first time. My experience was negative. The cashier was very polite but she gave me the same order number as the previous customer. When the cook called the order number I came to the register to pick up the plate and it was not my order but the previous customer. This created a VERY awkward and uncomfortable situation in which the other customer came to ask for his plate. I showed them my receipt with the order number but the mess was already done. Found this place as we were traveling home from Monterey, thanks to a Yelp search. Using this app has been so helpful in finding new places to eat. I ordered the crispy chicken tacos and my friend ordered a carnitas huarache. I also bought a bottle of Coke ($4.29) and two bags of Fritos Chorizo y Chipotle chips because they're my favorite to eat when I'm in Mexico. Those cost $9.20 for both but I can't remember exactly how much those were, around $14.99, I think. It seems quite pricey for 4 crispy chicken tacos but you'll understand why the moment you get your order! The tacos aren't stuffed, with everything in the middle, like we're used to. The tacos are laying flat on their side and everything is piled on top. Everything is delicious though and of great quality. Only downfall is they do get soggy quickly but they still taste delicious! The huarache was also huge ($10.50, I think) and covered the entire plate. Loaded with meat and authentic carnitas. They have a salsa bar and open concept kitchen where you can watch the employees cook and make the fresh tortillas. Highly recommend this place.
