Sometimes you just have to wait for a good taco Handmade tortilla , a salad bar with very options of salsa that you can serve in your own, no limit on the lemon or cucumbers My only concern is sometimes you just have to wait in line and they're not too quick to get your order the menu is confusing but if you know, what are you gonna get you're good to go. My favorite is the tacos brisket, the ambience is used more loud and a lot of moving around and weekends. There's a karaoke so it's kind of loud, but I will say even with turning things out you can improve you still get a good taco.

Here again at Amica's tacos for Sunday breakfast. Ordered the Menudo and it was actually pretty good just needed a little touch of salt. The pigs feet were cooked perfectly. Once you bite into it. It's just like butter so good. Added some oregano, onion, cilantro, cayenne chili, and a little lemon to taste to make it a bit more flavorful. Also ordered the Carne Asada Sope, which was a big portion and very filling, added some green guacamole sauce, and red sauce to top it off. And also ordered a quesadilla, which was very big. This one quesadilla was almost the size of two quesiberrias put together and consume is two dollars extra if you want some to dip your quesiberis in. and of course, I had to get the corn tamales to finish off my meal with a tasty dessert Sorry but whoever made the corn tamales today really fell short. They were dry and not moist and they felt almost like a hard texture. Please put your regular person back on tamale duty because these tamales today did not cut it,disappointed JUST A NOTE restrooms need a thorough cleaning and I would think twice before using the restrooms here .

Tacos Ameca was delicious. I had 4 tacos plate with pastor meat $18. You get rice and beans as an accompaniment. The best part is the unlimited salsa bar with huge slices of cucumber, many salsas, onions, and limes. The tortillas were fresh made, you can taste the care that went into them. Restaurant has plenty of seating. Service was better than most places. They regularly restock the salsa bar and keep it clean. Parking lot is small and gets busy. There were homeless hanging out there near the dumpsters. I'm definitely coming back when I have another meeting in Gilroy.

I have been going to this place for 11-2 years. They had gone to smaller portions but seems like they are going back to their super big portions. The food is amazing as always. When you get 2 tacos you always get an extra tortilla for the extra meat. Flavors are on point and they cook right in front of you. The most open kitchen you will ever see. Service is great and always helpful. There is plenty of seating and tables. Just not enough when there's a rush but still worth it.

We called a friend asking for recommendations for the best tacos in Gilroy and this was his go-to spot. Hands down the best tacos we've had in a while! The restaurant was busy but a solid flow of both sit-down and takeout patrons. The wait to order wasn't long at all and the wait for food was maybe 10 minutes. They offer a great sauce bar with to-go cups to fill while you're waiting, and there's a good amount of seating. We tried the Tacos Dorados and the Alambre, both were excellent! The tacos were crunchy, meat was tender and juicy, and the toppings were fresh. The Alambre was absolutely fantastic - chorizo was a good amount of salt, lots of cheese, the onions and peppers were crunchy, and it arrived on a hot skillet. Both meals and one modelo came to a bit over $50 for two people.

If you're in Gilroy and craving some tacos, you have to check out Tacos Ameca! They've got a ton of Mexican food to choose from, and the food comes out super fast so you don't wait long. You can eat inside or outside.The only downside is that parking can be a bit tricky, but other than that, I highly recommend you give them a shot!

I don't understand what the hype is all about. The sauce bar is dirty, the container is tiny and people are staring you down if you take too long. The parking is terrible, hardly designated at all, people literally park anywhere without a regard to others. The tortilla is indeed homemade but it was too thick and The meat is so dry, the horchata had sooo much cinnamon that every sip I took from the straw was chucks of cinnamon. Unfortubately, will not return. read more

Hands down the best Mexican food in Gilroy and Morgan Hill!!! I have never had one bad experience here. Fast, friendly, efficient service with a wide variety of dishes. They make their tortillas homemade and bbq their chicken and carne asada. So good!!! Try the brisket and al pastor as well. The owner can often be seen at one of his restaurants. He truly cares about his customers. Love this place!! I highly recommend the Ameca burrito, made with a giant corn tortilla or the torta. They're huge! read more

AMAZING!!!!! It was such a great way to end the night. Ordered the maiz quesadilla de Asada and the super nachos w/pastor. All the ingredients were so authentic and great price. Great place to grab your local sweets or a slice of pizza. The girls who work here are very friendly and offer the help you need if necessary. Had a great experience with a custom made cake on short notice. Would definitely recommend them to anyone locally ! read more

Don't come here expecting your usual American style Mexican food! It's so much more. The tortillas we're homemade right here and the beef was cut off of what looked like a gyro! Special treat! Come hungry as the portions are soooooo very large. Two could eat off of one plate! read more

I enjoyed this spot very much. I'm new to the area & cant find a good taqueria. This place is a bit pricey but I think Mexican spots get jept in there prices anyways. I ordered a quesadilla today and the cashier asked if I wanted a side of the grilled onions and a pepper I said yes and got charged for it but I never got them in my order ... just a heads up check ur order before you leave .. other than that the food was good read more

We have enjoyed the Almecas freshly handmade large corn tortillas delicious tacos for $2.80 very much. I would suggest to order One taco (love the carnitas), they have a large bar with fresh: salsas, pico de gallo, fresh chopped onions, fresh cucumbers, radishes & slice limes. They also offer free daily made fresh boil, no fat beans (pot by where they are making the tortillas). For me that is a complete healthy meal. Great value if you stick with the tacos. One taco makes two large tacos with the generous amount of meat and two tortillas you receive with your taco. Recommend the Fresh avocado salsa. Enjoy the free extras! Parking is limited, service is friendly and efficient. We have always visited early and the place has been clean. read more

Passing through town and my husband and I stopped at Tacos Ameca. So happy we tried it. The food is amazing! Parking is a little crazy because so many people come here. The food was so delicious it's understandable when you have to wait in line to order. My husband ordered a huge carne asasada burrito w pico de Gallo. The meat was tender and tasty. HE NEVER PUT IT DOWN I ordered one chicken taco w side beans-frijoles del Ollo. My homemade tortilla taco was huge and came with grilled onions w an option for grilled chili as well. THIS WILL BE OUR STOP WHEN WE COME THROUGH TOWN AGAIN. read more

I'm loving this little shack of Tacos heaven!! I've lived here locally, within a 7 mile radius, for...16-18 years now, and as long as I can remember it being here, the Tacos Ameca Restaurant has been BBQing that great smelling meat Everytime I get held to stop at that corner I get hungry sitting in my car. FINALLY, a new roommate shouts at me!! You don't Know Tacos Ameca? We're going! Well damn good PLAN. I consistantly return and drag other goodies along for the required intoduction that Amecas deserves from all locals for sure and all comers from around--dig in. Super Nachos w/asada fablulous every time, and crispy chicken tacos !!! Outstanding. Good Mexican eatery for great locally flavored fare! Enjoy por mas. read more

Stopped here on the way home after shopping at Gilroy Outlets. Very, very, very good food. Large portions. Amazing salsa bar. Very Mexican ambience. We were there on a Saturday around 7:30pm and they had Karaoke so it was extremely loud. If you don't mind loud music I would definitely recommend. It does have outdoor seating, but I didn't want to sit in the heat or have smoke in my face from the BBQ pit. read more

I come from a Mexican family that loves to make food. I've yet to go to a Mexican food joint that impresses me until I came to this place today out of curiosity. Geez!! Do yourself a favor and try their asada quesadillas and pour some salsa verde in it. I've never had a quesadilla tortilla like the ones they make here. They use these thick handmade tortillas for their quesadillas and it's a dream. Like eating a cheese and asada sope, lol. Definitely my go-to "treat yo' self" Mexican food place now. read more

Let's start off by saying that the food here is way overpriced for what it really is. Other than that the food here is really good. I get the taco plate with carne asada every time I come here, & it seems like they give you less & less meat every time. I asked if I could get HALF carne asada & HALF al pastor & they charged me for extra meat. The guacamole salsa is really good. read more

Found this place on Yelp and decided to check it out because of all the good reviews and I have to say I'm impressed. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were massive! They put so much meat on your tacos and the tortillas are hand made! The al pastor was my favorite and they had live music Saturday night! I just didn't like the ants crawling up the walls that was just gross. read more

Enticed by raved reviews it was an interesting stop from San Jose to Madera. Tacos was the word and this place delivered Mexican style. Two tacos de pastor was a meal in itself. Pork meat charred a little too much maybe end of the day food, but very very tasty. The beans and rice on the other hand were a disappointment as he quickly got cold. The beans were nothing fancy in that they smell like regular beans and tasted like regular beans I can make it home for a dollar. The rice was OK it was nothing to rave about it wasn't very authentic.I ordered a gordita which was OK it didn't really have that much flavor in the beans or cabesa. I was so hungry it didn't even matter. The Horchata was of a sweet flavor a little thick and served without ice so you actually got more with your cup. I would definitely stop by again and order some more tacos. It could have use cleaner tables and fresh cut Pastor the way they do in Mexico. read more

Came to this place on a fluke driving from the bay area to San Luis Obispo. Husband said we need to pull off for some food and I found this awesome little Taqueria on yelp! Handmade corn tortillas and Pastor fire roasted on a spit! Sooo good!! Order anything with the homemade tortillas and Pastor and you're good to go! I had the quesadilla and my husband had the burrito and we are full and happy - definitely hitting this place on the way back up from SLO! read more

What a find! Probably the best Al Pastor I have ever eaten. No real outdoor seating - we had our dog with us so we just ate in the car but totally worth it. You know it's a good place when people are hovering for your parking spot. I don't really know Gilroy too well but will definitely make it a point to eat there again the next time I go down. Excellent salsa bar with a really hot chili oil option too. Portions are a good size. My wife and I are not huge eaters and could easily have shared the taco plate for $11. read more

Really good meats on their good tacos. But who the fuck charges 92 cents for a cup when you already bought a large bottle of Mexican coke for $3? Infuriating! Penny wise and nickle foolish - and idiotic! And turn down the music so I dont lose my hearing yo! read more

I used to live in Austin, and worshipped torchy's tacos. I've searched far and wide in the Bay Area for tacos as good as torchy's tacos. Even the taquerias in the mission don't come close to torchy's! Tacos ameca makes'em as good as torchy's!!! Try the marinated pork and steak! Too bad they don't have a branch in the peninsula. Love the hand made tortillas they use in their tacos. The price is great, food is authentic and satisfying, although the meat tends to be a bit salty. The salsas are always fresh, and plentiful. They also give you a variety of very authentic and fresh condiments. You've got to give it one try and you will be hooked. read more

Super burrito was mostly filled with rice and beans, not much meat. The waitress was very nice, however the food left much to be desired. Unfortunately, search for it go to Mexican restaurant in Gilroy continues.

I go the #4 plate which was two enchiladas and chile verde. The enchiladas were terrible!! The chili verde wasn't chile verde !! And to top it off, food is way overpriced 50 bucks for two plates!! Should've just went to In-N-Out!! If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, this is not the place. You're better off trying Del taco or Taco Bell!! The service was good. The ambience was terrible. Don't waste your time coming to this place. Sorry to say !!

When i first went here months ago, it was a very good place to get quick tacos. In fact, i prefered coming here then going to Mi Pueblo. The worker taking my order was really nice and even though there was always a line, it was worth the wait. Now it's gone downhill. When i ordered today, my total was 11$. I gave the lady 15$ and she said she would get my change. After a few minutes i went back and told her where my change was. She said i gave her 11$ and i told her she was wrong. She checked her pocket and saw that i wasn't lying. Seemed like she wanted to steal my money and have me not know about it. I didn't get my change until 5 minutes later since she didn't have 1'ones and she had to ask another customer for change. They also raised the prices on tacos. before it was $2 for a taco. Now it's $2.50. The food was still good like always which made me somewhat happy. They took out most of the sides they use to have. They don't have napkins and took out the cilantro,onions, and other stuff you use to be able to add to your taco. Now they only have sliced beats, lime, cucumber, and salsas. They are to open in a building in Dec and i really hope the new place has all the stuff they use to have. As of right now, i'm not going back. The worker was not respectful and tried to cheat me of my money and the tacos i ate was a regular taco without the nice stuff on it. So if you wanna eat here, be aware that the prices rose, soda is a dollar whcih is fair, and expect to eat a taco with only meat and salsa. The lime looked like it was cut yesterday since it showed aging and was dry. I know they need money to pay for the new place, but if they keep being cheap and ripping people off when there not looking and not offering the food i loved, they will lose customers and money. Me and my gf are definently going to wait till Dec and hope they change back to the taco stand i loved. read more

This place use to been good when they where still a taco truck. Now it's gone way down hill. Since they opened in a building it has not been the same. The food is still good. They have toppings like lime, cilantro, beans, and other stuff you can add to your taco. The tortillas are hand made so you're getting good food. However, the customer service and the fact that they never have chicken irritates me. They have chicken advertised yet they never have it when i come and ask for it. The drinks they have is limited so i always get coke when i go in. There's rarely any seats available because the place is small and there's no seats outside. Parking is really small so i have to park near some houses sometimes. Workers are somewhat friendly sometimes but they just get orders. There's a language barrier which isn't a bad thing but if you only speak english, good luck finding a worker to help you. So overall the food is good but the service and just eating there is a problem. Tacos are somewhat pricey but i can see why since it's good. They do care more about regulars then new people so expect to not be treated equally. I'm probably not going to come here anymore since it's more problems eating there and service is a problem. I suggest going to Mi Pueblo where the service is better. If there's a game involving Mexico, you won't have random people staying in the place all day not willing to give you there seat. read more

Nothing short of amazing. We got a recommendation to stop here. Parking is tight, especially with a big ol' dually. Once inside, it's insanity. I bet this place is always busy. Nice set up though: order at the back if the restaurant, pick up at the front. Food took 5 minutes. I ordered Alambre, which is a mix of meats with cheese, onions and bell peppers. I added avocado for a $1. It's enough food for two people. The Pastor plate comes with beans (superior flavor), rice and fresh, homemade tortillas. There are lots of drink options, including a few beers. The restaurant itself isn't clean. All tables were sticky. All the employees were friendly. Been here a couple of times both when they were a truck to their resturant. It looks like they have given up completely on serving chicken so its an all red meat taqueria, their food is good, because anything cooked in lard is good. The real problem with this place is service for there isnt any really, and they dont care about it either. They have regulars that they cater to more but the regulars are extremely rude to any new interested customers. They will sit and take up the very few sitting spots in the restaurant even when they were done eating long ago. I always get the most unfriendliness feel there, and yes they are good, but thats just it, there are plently of delicious taquerias throughout California so Ill at be at the more friendlier ones. read more

The first time I went there i swore to never return.. i saw what looked to me like a cockroach near the drink fountain. I immediately tild one of the workers and she simply picked it up with a napkin. It could have been another bug but it was huge. Aside from that the food is great, love the handmade tortillas and all the variety of salsas. I do recommend: a bigger salsa bar, That the owner won't be so stuck up and for him to treat his workers better! My aunt worked there she says he's a total asshole. Eat where the locals do! Wow this place was hopping' at lunch time on a Thursday. Large portions and fairly priced. 3 different meat tacos were basically just that, but seasoned well. There is a condiment bar to add extra fresh onion combo, or variety of sauces, or fresh cucumbers /tomates. Watch out for the addictive green sauce (looks like avo but most likely not, it has some nice heat). Veggie burrito was great. Limited menu but enough to choose from. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE EATING HERE Every morning when i pass by 10th street I always see homeless people BBQ on their grill. They are also drinking and seen them shoot up heron and pee on their building. THATS DISGUSTING. I have complained to the owner of tacos ameca on 10th street and he did nothing about it. Its disgusting because we dont know how old the meat is that they are bbqn. I do like tacos amecas food but if they are doing nothing about it. I wont be eating their anymore. read more

This is one of my favorite places to go for Mexican food the tortilla is hand made and the flavors are amazing. The definition of no frill amazing food. We got carne asada tacos and chicken quesadilla, both were flavorful and to the point! Friendly staff, local dishes, and everything is prepared fresh.
