We like El Yakis for burritos but also for tacos & quesadillas. Their prices are a little higher than others but you do get a lot of meat & their food is flavorful. My first time there, I got a carne asada estilo yakis ($12) this means they have a green pepper butterflied and placed on a bed of cotija cheese that's made crispy by being cooked on the flat top. It makes the burrito that much better. The 3rd time I went there, they ran out of the green pepper so I had to get a regular burrito and it would have been much better with it. The burritios come with your choice of meat (asada, pollo, chorizo, pastor or cabeza), rice, beans, onions, cialntro, your choice salsa.... We also get regular tacos ($4) or tacos estilo yakis ($5). I like al pastor tacos and their is really tasty. I like the sweetness from the marinade and the slice of pineapple that completes a true al pastor taco. The tacos have plenty of meat and that green avocado sauce with green (mild) salsa is delicious. We've also gotten carne asada quesadillas ($10) and they area massive. It's cut into 2 very sizeable halves. Plenty of asada and plenty of cheese. It's a meal unto itself.... Service has always been quick and friendly. Cash only. Located on the sidewalk near the intersection of Laurel Canyon & Victory. Lot parking where Burlington Coat Factory & Ross have shared parking. The chile relleno in the burrito... that's where it's at. Trust.

Three chicken tacos with guac. Om nom nom.

These lower ratings are blasphemous to me! I see they're older though so maybe business improved since they were posted. The food is absolutely delicious and it's affordable. I got three chicken tacos for $12 and couldn't even finish them because I was so full. I love when my food is colorful and these tacos are. That color translates to flavor from the guacamole salsa, the meat, and the other toppings. I'm counting down til they open now so I can go grab some tacos. My bf really likes the burritos too, but I've only ever had the tacos. It's worth a try at least. I strongly recommend this place.

This might be the second best Sonora style tacos and they are so close to home. The tacos were delicious and well balanced. Service was quick and fast. They set out tables for customers so maybe on another day, it would been ideal but it was cold and windy so inside the car we ate. Didn't realize that's Angels Tacos own this stand too but so much different yet very familiar. Will definitely come back for more, the added chilies are good in a taco.

Lots of meat! The price point is a little higher but the tacos were a bit larger and meatier! We drive by this place at night and would see lines and wonder what the hubbub is about. We got there today just as they were setting up around 8pm. They set up on Victory Blvd near the Laurel Canyon intersection next to Burlington Coat factory. You can park in the big lot no one will care. We ordered the asada tacos and pastor mulita, with their normal toppings. You can get yaki style with added cheese but since we ordered a mulita we wanted to get the meat experience. The regular toppings have a kick! They do take Zelle, but we paid cash. They rounded up the 0.50 since they didn't seem to have coins.

After stalking their page on IG, I decided to finally check them out. Honestly the Chile Relleno (minus the egg) add on was enough of a reason to come check them out. The are right in front of the Burlington shopping center so parking is plenty. Super convenient. They only had 3 guys working and a line was building up. Thought it would be a little slow moving but they prepare your order as you go so once u pay u already got your goods. One of the guys was grilling the asada meat so I knew it would have those nice grill marks and juicy insides. The Al pastor was also glistening and looked especially tasty. We ordered the regular tacos, tacos yaki, and taco Perron. All tacos come on flour tortilla so a little bigger than your average street taco corn tortilla size. The flour tortilla was thin and super soft. Tacos yaki come with a blanket of cheese and roasted chili (Chile relleno) plus your meat. The taco Perron comes with a blanket of cheese plus your meat and can add some pinto beans too.All tacos come with a choice of two salsa, avocado, onions cilantro, and shredded cabbage. The habanero avocado salsa was pretty good! These tacos were seriously loaded!!! And yummy. I really thought the quality and cook of the carne asada was perfect. Not dry at all. The Al pastor was also really juicy with great flavor. They have a higher price point than some other vendors on the same street. Tacos are $5/$4 here but I'm guessing it's because of the bigger size. If you love flour tortillas than this is definitely your place to be!

There's supposed to be 2 tacos estilo yaquis on this plate

This place just ain't it. For tacos at $5 a pop, it may seem like a great value once you realize how much they load up the already bigger-than-street-size-taco-tortillas, but once you start eating them you realize the quality just isn't there. I've seen this place on Instagram and finally stopped by. It's on the sidewalk of a Burlington and Ross, a bit of a dodgy neighborhood but it's plenty crowded with people so not too bad. They have a big banner with photos of each item which is helpful here because they do have some unique concoctions of tacos, burritos, mulitas, etc. I have to say, right off the bat I was really put off by the open bowls and pans of cooked and raw meat just hanging out at the far end of the stand where the line forms. I know taco or food stands in general aren't the cleanest to begin with (where's the hot water?) but it has never turned me away from eating at these spots. But surprisingly, this is the first taco stand where I've seen rather negligent and carless care for the food. Communication is a bit difficult since none of the staff speak English. Luckily I know enough Spanish to order my food but fair warning to others. I decided to order two tacos peron de al pastor and two tacos estilo yaquis de al pastor. $5 a pop totaling $20. I didn't check Yelp until writing this review but the current "menu" on site doesn't list what's in each item so I went in slightly blind. Now that I see these images I know the peron is supposed to have cheese, beans, and jalapeno while the estilo yaqui is chile verde relleno and cheese. Overall, it's just a hot mess. The tortillas are way too thin and soft to hold all the ingredients they stack up. Personally, the cabbage is the one item that ruins both the texture and flavor of the tacos. But even then, there is so much on the tacos that you can't even tell what you're eating. I ate the estilo yaquis first which were ridiculously spicy, I can handle spice but this is like they put just the seeds of the peppers in the tacos. Once I moved onto the peron tacos, I could taste some elements more but it was still a crazy mess. I did enjoy the peron tacos far more than the other but by then I was so over trying to eat everything and I was full, I ended up tossing at least 1 1/2 tacos worth of food. The peron had cheese which was lost and luckily had bigger slices of al pastor which I picked out to actually try the meat. It had great char and it was juicy with really nice flavor. Even if I were to come back for regular tacos or just queso tacos (my favorite) I really don't think a $5/taco tag is worth it when places like Angels Tijuana or El Venado is half the price and not only serving better tacos, but more of a "taco" for the taco you order.

Tacos estilo yaqui al pastor & asada
    Jimmy S.

This place is great for the tacos perron & estilos yaqui. Tacos perron includes cheese beans & jalapeños where as estilo yaqui includes a Chile rellen con queso on it! Reminds me of some shops near the border in Tijuana. Overall it was great but there is a large amount of cheese that comes with it. Which means if you don't want something heavy, go with the regular tacos & burritos. I will say their ratio is not proportional to the overall way a taco should be since the tortilla seems too fragile n small for the amount of food they give you. On one hand they give you a ton of meat n fixins (which I have no complaints about), on the other hand their tortilla doesn't hold up well to that large portion. Either way I recommend trying as it's very unique.

Quick review * I drive by this stand every night on the way to work and there's always a line. Tonight, I finally decided to stop to see what the hype was about. I got my answer. This sidewalk stand has delicious food! I was lucky the line wasn't too long for a Friday night and was able to order and get my food in under 10 minutes. I ordered an asada burrito with everything. The staff efficiently gets the orders out, and the line moves swiftly. The asada, rice, beans, salsa and guacamole all were flavorful . The asada was definitely high quality. The burrito was stuffed with asada and all the fixings . The salsa was spicy but not in an uncomfortable way. I could barely finish the burrito, that's saying something. You definitely get your money's worth.Definitely recommend if in the area, but expect a line during peak hours.

Tacos were really good. The asada had a good flavor. The al pastor was tender and cooked right and the sauces were on point. I would give it a, but my only issue was that the tacos were $4.00 each. A little pricey for street tacos. The pickled red onions were not good.

Quesadilla and Yakis Tacos - excellent!

The food was excellent, we tried few items and none disappointed! The service was excellent. They only take cash or Zelle.

Casual spot in a Ross parking lot. I was really excited to try these tacos which are known for the cheesy Chile relleno on top (estilo Yaqui). These tacos are run by same people as Angels Tijuanas tacos which I love! They accept cash and venmo. Food rundown: the tacos are a bit pricier than your usual taco spot, however, they are generous with the meats. The tacos here come in a flour tortilla and you have the option to add a Chile relleno (estilo yaqui) which you absolutely should. The al pastor was my favorite as it was flavorful and crispy. One taco estilo Yaqui was enough to fill me up! The asada was very disappointing as it was chewy and needed salt. I ended up picking out most of the meat. They have a very spicy peanut sauce which was delicious as well as a red sauce and guac. In conclusion, the meat quality was a bit disappointing and I would solely order the pastor estilo Yaqui or try the cabeza next time. The tacos are huge and you will likely get filled with 1-2. Pros: estilo Yaqui Chile relleno, Al pastor. Room for improvement: asada meat needs to be more tender and well salted. Handmade tortilla option.

I've been trying to try this one because I saw the hype on social media (maybe I was expecting them to live.up to that hype) Tacos - 2 stars: there was flavor in the asada and al pastor but the tortillas were small and kinda of hard. They may have left them on the grill too long. Im used to the nice soft delicious tortillas. Guacamole was ok Prices - 2 stars: spent $41 for 8 tacos and 2 senorials. They are over priced and portions are very small. I could have gotten more for my buck somewhere else for example: tacos el venado on sepulveda. They are really good. Angels tacos on sherman way (they have home made tortillas and their tacos are twice as big Over all, disappointing. Would I come back again? Not even if I was starving. But try then for yourself, you may have a different opinion. I have certainly have had better.

I recently tried out El Cocinero's food at an event that they catered to. As a person who eats meat and is not restricted, I would come here for the good food. The vegan al pastor had chunks of pineapple and it is seasoned and cooked to taste just like the meat version. The texture is just a little bit different but it does resemble a lot like meat. The vegan pastor also tastes just like the meat version, just less "smoky" and the texture is softer. The rice is flavorful and fluffy. The beans are seasoned just enough to have flavor but not compete with the other dishes. The creamy chipotle sauce was perfect topping the rice and beans. I do like vegan food but the only reference I had with Mexican vegan are places that try to add fake cheese and lean heavily on beans and rice. This business shows that you can still have all the flavors and not rely on cheese and meat. They focus on the flavors and not what would make non-vegans feel comfortable. Initially, I was going to give this first time experience a 4 star review so that it encourages me to go check out the restaurant so I can add the service and the ambiance. However, I was lucky enough to bring home leftovers and as I was eating it, the food tastes better. Had to add the extra star!
