I have driven past this trailer for years on my way elsewhere, and now I mildly regret that curiosity didn't get the better of me sooner. One Sunday, at about 2:30 pm, my friend and I were hungry, but all the standard taco spots I would've gone to were either a) closed or b) about to close in the next 30 mins. I hate to be that person, so I quickly searched on my phone to see what was "open now" in the way of tacos. Tacos Guererros was just a few minutes away and definitely open. ***This place is cash only, so be prepared. We pulled up and parked next to the truck, and one person was there, giving us time to scope the menu. I saw the old lady at the window and knew these tacos were legit. You will need some basic Spanish to order, but it's not complicated. The lady was super sweet and asked me how my day was going since we were the only guests. I ordered 2 tacos (bistec and carnitas) and he got 3 and a medio litro of Coke for a total of $24. Both tacos were great, but I think the flavor of the carnitas was perfect. A young couple rolled up as we were finishing up our lunch, and I heard them practicing their Spanish. However, they didn't have cash to pay. I spotted them since the lady definitely didn't have Venmo (funny they even asked) and passed along the gift of a delicious taco experience to them, too.

Important note: CASH ONLY! This has got to be one of the best food trucks ever. I love that it's an old-school, truly homemade menu. This food truck comes complete with the sweetest abuelita too! I don't think she ever misses a day of work. Austin is a town that has many gems but this is in the top 5 of said gems. Solid. It's as if you're eating right in abuelita's home kitchen that's how authentic it is. The menu offers several nice offerings that include a variety of breakfast and lunch tacos as well as antojitos (street-style snacks). The tacos are filling. One and done for me even though my brain tells me to keep going, my belly says no can do. My brain wants to keep going because every bite is packed with flavor. I absolutely hate anything that's over salted or under seasoned. Never the case here because the flavorings are always well balanced making the taste roadtrip from my mouth to stomach a brilliant experience. Support local business!

CASH ONLY FOOD TRUCK! Found this place last minute off a TikTok review & based off the reviews everything was legit! Tried the chorizo, carnitas, migas, & chx fajita tacos. Both salsas were on point & the lady was sweet (agree it's like your own abuela making homemade tacos so service was ). This is definitely one of those places that you look for locally & are happy to support! We went around 11a on a Friday so no one was there. Just a heads up that it is in an abandoned parking lot off the highway so be weary that it's just not the nicer part of town. Ps Chorizo & migas were the fav for sure!

Great food truck serving yummy tacos. Plenty of parking with picnic tables to eat at. I got the carnitas and bistek tacos which were $4 each and they filled me up. They had complimentary pico de gallo which had a kick to it. FYI the green salsa is spicier than the red salsa. Also, cash only!

Tacos were pretty good! Got the potato egg and cheese taco. I liked the way the potatoes were chopped in medallions and great sauce options. The owner was super sweet and helpful! There's a small area to sit by the truck.

Wow wow wow. This place is truly a gem. I know there are a million taco trucks in Austin, but this one is pretty special. We stopped in and split a few different tacos: chicharron and egg, al pastor, migas, and chorizo/egg/cactus. The chicharron was really tender and went well with the egg. The pastor was crazy good. It was shredded and had a lovely marinade and pineapple flavor. The chorizo was fantastic because it wasn't super greasy. Finally, the migas was super good and came with their homemade refried beans. I'm pretty sure the tortillas were homemade or at least tasted like they were. Their three salsas were really great too. The older lady working the truck is so sweet. She gave us great service and cooked up ridiculously good food. It's like someone's little abuelita made us our meal. :) We will 100% be returning for more. BIG NOTE: The truck is cash only.

I can see why this place is highly recommended. Tried several different tacos and they were all very good. My least favorite was the beef fajita. The chorizo and egg, migas and guisada were all great. The migas was by far the best though! I'd definitely come again, it was worth the trip! The lady who took our order was nice and service was quick even though she was the only one working!

Like going to your abuela's for lunch... that's how we felt after having these tasty flour-shelled tacos. They were indeed tasty but the highlight was the super nice couple serving them out of this food truck. They kept giving us stuff (napkins, limes, salsas), making sure everything was perfect. Such nice people. Go there for the tacos, go again-and-again for the love...

These are not the best tacos I have ever had. Why the 5 stars then? Well, they may not be the best, but they are definitely authentic, taste excellent, and GREAT VALUE. In this day and age of people going batshit crazy for tacos, it's rare to find that combination of qualities from a taco. $2 for a taco, I get three: Picadillo, Beef Fajita, and Al Pastor, all were delicious and decent sized (the Al Pastor was a little dry for me). For that price, you can get 1 taco of equal size at Torchy's or Taco Deli. If the lady running this taco stand is making money at $2 per taco, everywhere else must be ripping us off like crazy. Either way, I made sure to tip her because it just didn't seem fair. read more

Delicious breakfast tacos. I recommend the chorizo and the bacon tacos. The owner is a really nice lady and she even gave us some bean soup for free while she prepared our tacos. She was great! Definitely tacos of the highest quality, great value and the sweetest little cook you'll ever meet. All around a great experience EXCEPT that she has stopped making handmade flour tortillas. My quest continues, but I will certainly stop by and eat at her table again. Her reviews are almost perfect and I considered giving her five stars but wanted to resist the temptation to try to bless her with a review that isn't wholly honest. This place was totally unexpected! OMG! Good'ol Mexican grandma herself cooks and serves surely one of the best tasting tacos in Austin. Tortillas are freshly handmade and the seasoning and taco sauce are incredible. Tacos are packed and will leave you truly satisfied. I also saw somebody order a so called 'menudo' which seemed like a very hearty stew and it was served in a large decorated homestyle glass bowl, which just made me feel as if I was at a home kitchen; now I just want to come back to also try that. I will definitely come back and hope the best to that blessed old lady making amazing food. God bless! read more

Tacos were excellent. Carnitas was my favorite! The salsa was mild but chunky. The woman is so sweet but can't really speak English. It's not that hard communicating with her though. She makes the corn tortillas right in front of you! I loved that part since I knew it was fresh. She'll also ask if you want to add cheese to your breakfast tacos, just say yes to everything! She does everything herself so it may be a little slow if she's busy. It's worth it though. I love her kindness so it was a really nice experience. read more

This place always seems to be open every time I drive by, so I finally decided to stop in today. First of all, the little old Mexican woman that works here is absolutely adorable. Tip her well. I had the al pastor and carnitas tacos, both were incredibly flavorful and the tamarind Jarritos to wash it down was a refreshingly delicious choice. Totally legit, authentic, abuelita-served Mexican joint. Friendly, non-Americanized, super spicy, chunky salsa with charred tomatoes, hand blended in front of you. We were given free bowls of charro beans while we waited. Totally unpretentious, glad we found it (while biking Town Lake), as we probably wouldn't have found it otherwise. read more

My boyfriend and I do not mess around when it comes to tacos. We've made a google spreadsheet to keep track of all the tacos we've had in Austin and Tacos Guerrero is my favorite. The filling is always crispy, juicy, and flavorful. The price is very reasonable and best yet, a tiny granny makes and serves everything. My favorite are the carnitas. Also be aware that sometimes taco granny doesn't open shop even if online schedules indicate that the truck should be open. read more

Ok first of all their tacos are delicious. All the ingredients are fresh. She makes the tortillas to order. So expect your food to take some time. It's worth it. The lady is super nice. My girlfriend and I were finishing up a ride and we only had enough cash for a few tacos and the lady threw I a bottle of water because she knew we were short on cash and we looked thirsty! ¡Mmmmmuy SABROSA! This woman can make tacos, and she will!!! Everything fresh off the grill, and nothing but the best ingredients. No heat lamps! Salsa made fresh before you. I guarantee you will not be let down. As a matter of fact, you'll walk away saying, "Now those are some GOOOOOOD tacos!" Even if you have to alter your route, get over here and try these tacos. My wife said, "they have 4.5 stars on Yelp." I turned the car into the parking lot of an insurance business. There was a small orange stand. I said, "this?" Long story short, I'm glad we listened to the reviews. This was a fantastic stop. The small orange stand has the breakfast and tacos on the left of the window and the lunch tacos on the right. Each are $2. The woman who greeted us, took our orders, and served us our food was the best. She was friendly and made sure that our order was perfect. She treated me like my own grandmother treats me and yet I only knew her for a few minutes. At 2 bucks a taco, this is steal. The ingredients are fresh and the tacos are packed. I watched this woman, who I would like to call my abuela, cut open avocados and put fresh slices on my tacos before packing them away. The salsa verde that comes with the tacos is unbeatable as well, make sure you don't leave without it. The $2.00 for a taco with onions, peppers, and avocado included along with eggs and a meat choice is a bargain beyond belief for the quality and the freshness, so tip her well! read more

I used to work on the east side and made this a regular lunch spot. The lady is so sweet and makes your tacos to order. I've probably had better tacos, but for $1.50-$2 each, they're more than worth it. Be sure to try the salsas as well. read more

This taco stand is right on the corner of Pleasant Valley and Caesar Chavez. The woman who runs it is incredibly nice and makes everything fresh after you order it. The salsa verde is also the best I've had in Austin so far. I got breakfaste tacos and also the beef and chicken for my husband. I also grabbed two of the jarritos sodas which were very good. Y'all, this is probably the most authentic mexican breakfast tacos I've ever had. I usually ride the train downtown and don't often get to stop. But lately, I've been finding excuses to drive JUST so I can stop by and buy some tacos from here. Do yourself a favor and stop by every day if you can. We ordered the enchiladas, which were delicious, and the shrimp was probably my favorite part of the meal because it was so fresh and perfectly cooked. Compared to the weekends, their schedule was a lot more open. On the weekends it can be nearly impossible to get a spot unless it's a few weeks in advance. We had a reservation at 8 am right when they opened, and when we walked in, we were seated immediately. The place looks like a modern twist on the old-school diners your grandparents love. There's also an upstairs and downstairs patio. Plenty of space! We were sat at one of the two-person tables. To start, I ordered their house drip coffee while my girlfriend got their "Lil Remi," an iced cappuccino with salted caramel. The black coffee was excellent and flavorful, while my girlfriend thought her Lil Remi was like a milkier shaken espresso that she really liked. From their starters, we ordered their Blueberry Lemon Pop Tart to share. I am a sucker for a homemade Pop Tart, and the jam on the inside was extremely fresh, and the icing and crust of the Pop Tart itself was sturdy and full of flavor. For our entrees, I ordered their Texas Hash with added avocado while my girlfriend ordered their famous Paperboy Pancake with chocolate chips as a full breakfast with bacon and two over-hard eggs. A perfect pancake to her. A perfect pancake to me because she couldn't finish it, so I took it to go and ate the last few bites immediately after dropping her off at the airport. For being an upscale diner in the prime area of Austin, I knew Paperboy was going to be pricey, but I honestly thought that it would crack $100 before tip between the two of us. I was very happy to see it was not even close to that and cost us about $80 with tip. To me, that felt fair for Austin, and I would pay that price any day of the week for a breakfast like we had. I've had a few of the locally owned brunch and breakfast spots in Austin and concur with the masses that this sits strongly at the top of the list. Best pancakes, best atmosphere, and the best times. Well the two al pastor tacos had a wonderful fresh maize tortilla. the whole thing was ery tasty.. they were very skimpy and way overpriced.. they do not post the prices. For two tacos and a topo chicp the price pretty much made me decide to stop buying lunch..same syndrome of overpriced shrunk down portions. My Spanish skills are like a baby. So I can order. I always get confused when they call my number and then use my fingers and they nod. Service is friendly and quick. This spot is next to a gas station with a roof, with 8 picnic tables each with a roll of paper towels. The tacos are filled with meat that is so juicy and tender. Flavors are bursting. They green salsa (maybe it's called doña) adds the perfect creamy heat and they don't shy away with the limes. Open late. Always dank.

I will say the day I was there, there was someone who I believe was having a mental health crisis and was walking around the taco truck/gas station naked so that was off putting but I know the area is unfortunately known to have a lot of unhoused folks around so I just had my food and went on.
