Al Pastor Burrito with cheese ($1 extra)
    Airi G.

A solid late-night burrito destination. It's not the best al pastor I've ever had but it was fresh off the grill and delicious. The ratio of ingredients were pretty solid: beans, rice, meat, onions, and cilantro. I also added cheese because it's always a must for me, even though it costs an extra dollar. What surprised me were their salsas. I have a pretty high spice tolerance but it was spicy even for me. I loved their pickled onions though and their entire side selection was great. They accept Zelle or Apple Pay if you don't have cash.

3/2/23 This taco stand is off da hook!! Am not kidding! Hubby picked me up & around the corner we went for this Tacos La Güera-they were just setting up. Am super famished so we opted for two al pastor burritos. Been ordering from these guys for years now. We used to send our favorite runner at night to sneak in some tacos, burritos, quesadillas & other delicious goodies. The staff ate super friendly-great customer service & quick, too! They're located on corners Soto & (near) Norfolk. Follow the scent of tasty meats. The seasoning is splendid & spectacular-send your tastebuds to heaven & party on down!! My al pastor was so good, couldn't put it away no matter how much I tried to resist it (had them cut it in half so i could save the rest for later, nope, didn't happen). Okay $24 for two huge burritos, a tad steep for "street tacos" style burritos but oh so worth it! You could also fill up on the accoutrements that are freshly made: diced onions, lemon wedges, cucumbers, cilantro, radish, grilled & fresh jalapeños-don't miss out on the relish, oh & the salsas!!! Wowzah! Warning, spicy cucumbers are really spicy:)) Truly enjoyed my al pastor burrito. Haven't had a great one in a while....

As far as "taco" trucks/tents go, Tacos La Guera checks all the boxes - delicious food, all the meat staples, convenient location (well, at least for me). I say taco in quotes since they do more than just tacos. IYKYK. Their condiment spread covers all the bases too, and they're not cash only, which is nice. There's always people waiting to order, so that's a good sign that their food is yum, and service is quick.

$2 tacos (cash only) that hit the spot! Good spot to check out if you're around the area. It's well lit and easy to park. The al pastor and buche were good though I wish the former had a larger slice of pineapple! Green sauce was great. Our guy wore gloves - good hygiene

YUMMY!!! Friendly! Fresh! It was my first time here and I will definitively be back. It's way way far from my house, however it is on the way to my daughter's home so I will definitively be coming here again. The staff is super friendly. At first it was a bit confusing on how to order. Lol! But, they helped us out and we had a great time ordering and the eating when I got home! The to-go tacos and quesadillas were put in Paper plates and covered with foil and then inside a bag - so there was zero danger of anything spilling in the car. They have orchata. It was a bit sweet for my granddaughter's taste, but with a little added water it was fine. Unfortunately they did not have Jamaica. They offer little bags and little containers for us to self-serve the condiments (different salsas, cucumbers, radishes and grilled onions). The place is clean and well-lit and a million customers. Nevertheless, it was not a long wait. It was all very good. I am Mexican - and my taste-buds can be picky when it comes to good street food. However, my taste-buds were pleased and eager to come back in the future

Tacos La Guera is a basic al fresco set up which gives an impression that is clean & well organized. If you plan to eat there be prepared to eat in a car or bring a folding camp chair. My only beef here at La Guera is the $2 per taco at an outdoor, improvised stand which is a bit on the steep side. Also each taco had only one tortilla instead of the standard two. 1) The Carne Asada is lean meat perhaps marinated in a bit of citrus juice to keep the beef from drying out. Pleasantly chewy with a light smokiness from the mesquite charcoal. Bit over salted. On a tortilla de maíz made from fresh corn Masa made on the spot & grilled on a steel plate. A nice touch. 2) Al Pastor is thinly sliced pork marinated with puréed red chiles, vinegar, sugar, and stacked into a cylinder which is skewered on a vertically rotating spit called a Trompo. A natural gas powered flame cooks the meat evenly. Pineapple on top slowly leaks sweet pineapple juice containing bromelain, an enzyme that aids in digesting proteins. Al Pastor, meaning in the style of the shepherd, originally came along with Lebanese immigrants to México. They used lamb calling it Shawarma, but when Mexicans picked it up, pork was used instead. La Guera's version of al Pastor is moist, subtly agrodolce. The red chile based purée marinade adds richness & balance to the porkiness. Same tortilla de maíz. 3) A great strength of La Guera is its wide range of help yourself, good quality condiments. Big bowls of cilantro chiffonade, cucumbers, breakfast radishes, diced onions, lime wedges, refreshing pickled slices of onions, jalapeño chiles, topped by purée of habanero chiles to spike up the piquancy. Fire blackened whole jalapeños as well as sautéed sweet, caramelized onions & jalapeños. Salsa of puréed light green Tomatillos & flecks of dark Chipotle, which are dried, smoked jalapeño chiles, had a green vegetal, garlic Umami upped by the fresh acidity of the Tomatillo as well as a smoky "meatiness" from the Chipotle. Light watery red salsa that contained a tomato sweet acidity as well as a hint of fresh piquancy of red chiles & garlic. The green, creamy Aguacate/avocado salsa was the best I have had in a while. You can actually taste the aguacate fattiness. Overall, La Guera is the tastiest outdoor taco de estilo Tijuana pop up so far that I've had in Los Angeles. Still for two dollars a pop, you would think there would be a bit more meat in the tacos as well as that second tortilla. 4- Yelp stars.

I visited this place while walking around LA. These kind of place has super authentic Mexican tacos and burritos. The pastor was made fresh from the grill. The vibe was fun. There were a lot of Hispanic hanging around, which means this place must be great authentic

Did a taco crawl with some friends and this was my favorite spot of the night. Tacos range from $1.25~1.75. My favorite one was the Pastor...make sure you ask for it fresh because they'll slice it off their grill with pineapple. They have some seats available for you to enjoy your tacos!

Their menu looked appetizing and the reviews were decent so I gave it a try. Before I ordered I asked how long the wait would be and she said 15min. So I ran an errand and came back, 15 minutes have past and I'm still waiting. I waited until 25 minutes before I asked about my food. she said it was coming up next, and sorry for the wait. I understood I mean it's lunch time. You can tell they were rushed, there's only two of them and the people waiting in line to order slowly left. She didn't acknowledge people waiting in line, she had he back towards them. 40 minutes have passed now and I'm HANGRY... She kept telling me it was next and that it's backed up. I waited another 10 mins before my food came out... By this time I was over it. I took a bite of the pad see ew and it was so bland... The beef is dry and tasted like they Rushed it.... All that wait for something gross.. Very disappointed !! I mean cmon even when I'm hangry and the food doesn't taste good still.... Sad

Well, that's what just happened to me. I wouldn't mind trying other things on their menu, next time. I'm hopeful. But I have to admit, I didn't love the bbq pork noodle I ordered. It came with a peanut/vinegary/liquidy sauce. The noodles tasted like nothing, and the bbq pork was good. But I guess you're supposed to pour the sauce over the whole dish, else the noodles would just be dry and flavorless. Kind of like you do on Vietnamese vermicelli dishes.I've never had Thai food that way, but I'm open-minded. The prices were a little on the high side for a food truck. I mean, why are food trucks generally expensive for fast food? It kind of contradicts the whole concept behind the "roach coach". Dontcha think? These prices were like sit-down restaurant prices for the pretty good Thai food places around town. So, not sure how the whole business model of having high prices works out for these food truckers. I also ordered the fried tofu with the sweet chili sauce. You can't go wrong on fried tofu, so nothing to write about besides it's good :). Service? They could definitely pick up some storefront personality and speed. But overall, they seemed nice.

There was the Philly Steak truck with a very long line, The Chairman with a medium size line, and then the rest had basically no line. I knew that it would be a mistake, but we tried out Mastermind as the Vietnamese / Chinese food sounded good, and we have had good luck in the past with it from food trucks. I figured that it is usually hard to go wrong with a Drunken Noodle dish, so I decided to try that one. What I received was not drunken noodle. It was linguini, tossed with some spices (very dry) and more dry chicken that had tendons and was hard to chew. A piece of cilantro was tossed on top for decoration. I ordered a 3 on the spicy scale of 1-5, and tasted barely any spice. If I ever did get food from Mastermind again (which I won't), I would get a 4 or 5. Lastly, regarding the amount. This poor dish was $10. However the annoying part, that the other food trucks there did not force on me was a charge to use a credit card, that was not noted and the addition of tax, which other food trucks included in their pricing. Overall this dish was a failure, and I would be shocked how much loner Mastermind stays around. Considering I'm just the 3rd review, I think that it's days of business should be coming to an end.

Kogi was one of my favorite food trucks back then, but without the crazy lines from eons ago. Recently my boyfriend and I were trying to figure out what to eat for dinner and luckily the Kogi truck happened to be nearby. And there was only 2 groups in front of us. This was probably the easiest Kogi visit either. I'm not sure if it was only the day we came and they had technical difficulties or if the Kogi truck changed, but there was a handwritten sign up saying CASH ONLY on the day of our visit. My boyfriend ordered their Short Rib Burrito ($10) and I ordered their Short Rib Taco ($3.25) and their Blackjack Quesadilla ($9). The wait wasn't too bad. The burrito and taco were well packaged but the quesadilla was in a paper container and it was so oily that it seeped through and spilled into the bag. Good thing the plastic bag didn't rip or it would have spilled into the car. The taco was just as I remembered it with a good filling and a generous amount of protein. The blackjack quesadilla was oily and completely covered in salsa making it really soggy. I actually got this item so that it would be good to save for a subsequent meal since I knew I wouldn't finish it. Still a good overall meal but just too oily. I'm glad the Kogi trucks are still in business and going strong after all these years. Looking forward to continue my ongoing support whenever they are nearby.
