My partner and I decided to do a fried chicken walking tour this weekend and this was our first spot. You can either order to go at the back kiosk or have a sit down meal at one of the tables. Because all the tables were taken, we chose to get takeaway. We were torn between flavors, but then found out that we could do half and half! The chicken was by far the best Korean fried chicken I've had. It's not the type of Korean fried chicken with dripping sauce. The most chicken I ever ate was the day I ate here. After hearing from a Yelp friend that this was the best KFC she ever ate, I immediately had to see for myself. The lady who ran the place was so sweet! As trusted by a friend who said he can eat 26 pieces of chicken by himself, we got the Wing & Drum Combo of 16pcs Wings and 10pcs Drums ($45) of mixed flavors shared among 4. Prior to the meal, we are presented with free kimchi and salad. The kimchi was not fresh, but my table enjoyed it. The salad was heavily dressed, but was much appreciated in helping me break up all that poultry intake. The Seafood Pancake ($14.99) was the crispiest I ever had, with a nice fragrant pan fried taste and minimal seafood. For the amount, this was not worth the price. The drumsticks were indeed huge pieces! To eat 6 was the biggest stretch for me, and never again, I tell you. Having tried all the flavors, I would rank my preference as Honey Soy Garlic, God Damn Spicy, Original Ginger Spicy, and 1982 Heritage Sweet & Spicy. The flavors weren't particularly mind blowing flavors. Most of the flavors were primarily infused into the skin, and so while the meat was super juicy, you can really taste and smell the chicken meat once you get past the skin. The Original tasted like regular fried chicken to me, that I expected more of a distinct ginger taste. The God Damn Spicy wasn't that spicy, but there is a lingering spicy tingle that makes them addicting and challenging to eat! Overall, a very decent KFC option in Chinatown with spacious interior! If they offered pickled radish or even alcohol since I once saw people drinking them in here but not anymore, that would add to the experience.
