Okay, so I'm giving this a good review because I LOVE diners but I could be bias. However, this is exactly the type of diner that you would find in the midwest. It serves everything and the crowd is very typical of a diner. There's a big early bird crowd that comes here and I think most are regulars. My boyfriend and I came here a few night ago for dinner to try their famous fried chicken dinner. I have to say that the chicken was delicious and fried perfectly. I also enjoyed my mashed potatoes too! I liked the coleslaw but it wasn't my favorite. The service was okay. Our waitress didn't listen to well when I asked to not have a lemon in my water since I can't eat citrus, but oh well. Later she gave a big hassle to an elderly man who asked for a new cup of coffee and then guilted him into not having one. Felt bad for the old guy. Overall I'll definitely be back. I like that they're a big diner (with a bar) and they have a parking lot too. The food is good and is typical diner food. read more

If you are looking for a good old fashioned breakfast here is the place to go. The prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. I had a Belgian waffle with bacon. The place looks like you are transported to an 1958 dinner. And the people are super friendly. No gluten free options. read more

Finally tried this place. I've heard great things from people. I love a good diner . I ordered soup and salad . The salad was gross didn't have anything on it . Seemed like those bag salads of just lettuce . Beef soup! But where's the beef!!!! The waitress was over the top. Kept forgetting things and even cussed lol. 3 Stars for the sour dough bread though delicious. read more

It's been 26 years since we were here last. Crowded means good. This is an old school American place. All food is fresh and tasty. A neighborhood gem for sure. Close to the airport. You won't be sorry. read more

It brings me back to the time when Burbank was a friendly, small town. Great customer service, friendly staff & reliable food. Great for breakfast, lunch OR dinner & the bar is excellent as well! If you're in the mood for home cooked comfort food this is the place- They're also lightening fast when ordering to go! It makes me happy coming here & I bring all of our out of town guests, ironically they prefer this over the 'fancier' places! read more

After watching Huell Howser episode my Dad wanted us to go check out this restaurant. Food was great. Quality food with affordable pricing. $8.99-$14 on average for a meal with a side or two (lunch). Plenty of seating in booths or tables. Patio seating available. Customer service was a bit slow, conversations amounts staff at resisters and with what I could tell, regular customers. Took a little while to get the attention of server for check but the busser was super attentive and nice. Brought us plenty of water fill ups and container to-go. I'd return but it would have been nice to have a little more attentiveness and greeted good-bye. read more

I was quite positively impressed by this restaurant. it offers fast and pleasant service, delicious food ( I had ordered blackened Salmon), reasonable prices. I t does not offer luxurious setting or nice views, but it fully justifies the purpose of a restaurant. I recommend it highly and will be back soon. read more

After loading a friend's moving truck, and before unloading, my friends are I decided to nourish our vessels. A friend of my friend moving is near family to a number of the employees of the Tallyrand. She also informed us that there was a Mexican food place not far, as an alternative. The parking lot was full, but a spot was open on the street, and I parallel parked that m*ther f*cker like a pro. A patron leaving the establishment confirmed I hand plenty of room to settle the Uhaul in the space. I don't know if every customer receives the same warm welcome, but the many welcoming smiles looks at home on the faces quickly getting us to our table. The atmosphere is classic Americana. It's one of those diners you're sure you've seen in a movie or show, and that's because you probably have. My new found best friend, filled our table in on a few of the highlights and historical significance of this restaurant to the area. In a moment, we had menus to pour over, our drink orders in, and a waiter offering his recommendation and answers to any questions we had. I ordered the freshest coffee I may have had in all my days, and the Pancakes special, mostly advertised as the best. The friend sharing this gold mine, ordered the Turkey Dinner, another friend took the waiter's recommendation of the Texas Omelette, and one friend failed to order chicken with her waffle. We carried on lively conversation, and if awaiting to sharing a Saturday morning breakfast with family. Our food arrived hot, fresh. My pancakes were Noble Peace Prize worthy. Bacon cooked to perfection. Eggs fluffy and light. The price and selection is incredible considering the service and experience are priceless. Thank you to the Owners, management, and all the members of the team making our lunch break a smooth move. I will be back, and I highly recommend you come claim this California gold. "HOLY CRAP!" That is exactly what I exclaimed after I bit into my Hot Turkey Sandwich here at the Tallyrand. I have been eating here on & off for the last year, and now because of their Hot Turkey Sandwich I had on my most recent visit, I can proudly say the Tallyrand and I are officially going steady. :-* On my earlier Meat-Indulging visits (in which I have been equally pleased, mind you) I learned that the Tallyrand actually roasts their own fresh Turkey from scratch each and every morning. I can't speak to how they prepare their other meats, but I can say they are prepared with equal amounts of LOVE. In the past I've also had their Corned Beef (& Cabbage, as it was St. Patty's Day, mind you) and their Pastrami. And anything I've ever seen coming out of the kitchen going to other patrons looked just as yummy. This joint is the EPITOME of comfort food. So bring your Patience, your Appetite and whatever it is you crave from your childhood that makes all your cares and woes vanish... at least from the time you take your first bite until you lick the plate clean. Also, for the record, their Turkey Gravy is so real, that it actually has little bits of turkey liver in it (as depicted in my photos). And since I personally find the taste and texture of liver to be rather off-putting, the fact that I picked out said bits of liver with precision and conviction, and STILL managed to dive in and eat the HECK outta that sandwich shows just how friggin' DEE-lish that Hot Turkey Delight was! Check it out for yourself, order a classic comfort-fave of your own, and see what transpires. Oh!... And-oh yeah-for those of you who have an "issue" with Senior Citizens for some odd reason, please stay away and spare the Tallyrand both your business and your 1 & 2 Star Reviews. I was raised properly and taught to respect my Elders but apparently that was not a Universal experience for others, and the stellar comfort food situation going on over here at the Tallyrand doesn't need to be discredited by your tacky, disrespectful nature. While I'm not among the geriatric set just yet, I caution all the youngsters here that they will all be that age someday, and my guess would be that when they ARE that age they'd probably like to be treated with a little more respect - but that's just me. And frankly, having been to many trendy eateries that are inundated with the supposedly trendy young set, I'll take the geriatrics any day of the week, baby - any day of the week. But enough about ME - let's talk about Tallyrand! I've eaten here about six times - mostly I had their excellent BLTA and their tasty onion rings. Tonight I had clam chowder (very good), a cobb salad with Ranch (the Cobb was nothing to write home about, but the Ranch was good) and, of course, the onion rings. There was a pretty good age cross-section, too, but funnily none of the older people were making fun of the younger people. Funny that. It's not the best of its type, but it's consistently good. When I arrived this evening, there were two fire trucks in front of the restaurant and several firemen inside. The room all the way to the west apparently got a little too smoky and had to be blown out. I found it amusing that they didn't actually clear the restaurant, just closed off that section and kept serving everyone else. read more

Been here twice now and I really wanted to like this place but I just can't. I have dealt with two different waitress on two separate occasions and both instances I got bad service. They seem to hate working there and decide to make it obvious to their customer. I would say the food is a 4/5 but nothing was amazing. Their ice coffee was way to watery and their corned hash was pretty good but nothing spectacular. The breakfast burrito would be the only thing i would recommend from what we have tried. Over all I dont think I will be returning here again. read more

Pancakes, pancakes, pancakes. You have seriously got to try their buttermilk pancakes. Some of the best I've ever had. Lots of choices for omelettes and other individual items for breakfast. Coffee is also super strong so be prepared for lack of naps. read more

So I sorta liked Turkey. Well that was before I came here. OMG. The Turkey is sooooo great. Moist. Delicious. Yummy. The place is whistle clean. The servers know exactly what's on the menu. Other things and TURKEY. PLEASE get the Tirkey. It's off the platter, out of the Oven DELICIOUS OK, a couple of the waitress have been slightly acerbic but I'm not eating them. Turkey ....... Lol. anyone who has rated this higher than 1 star has never been out. it's a town with bob's and patty's and cafe de olla and other very good options. I had never been here. I never review anything harsh like this. i worked in a restaurant as a kid and I know it's difficult work. but they aren't even trying. bus boy. good. but kind of laughing at the situation about how bad it is and he knows he's the only decent thing there. waitress. made nurse ratchet seem warm and fuzzy. dude taking the money at the counter. beyond bad. oh, the food. disgusting. and it was $43 for two for breakfast. terrible place. read more

Came in today around noon.Was told we would not be served and we had to leave today. Disabled not wanted there. The blonde waitress is severely bi polar and went on a power trip. We previously had no problems with her as our server in the past three years of eating there. I have had to return food that was burnt in the past and they used that against me. I suggest Corral restaurant on Burbank Blvd, they may not have the turkey but they don't discriminate against people with disabilities either. read more

We love this place! It's our go-to place for brunch in Burbank. Sure it's not as "glamorous" as a place like Bea-Bea's, but you are also seated right away here. I've pretty much loved all the breakfast items I've had here with the exception of the biscuits. They're like sheet biscuits, not drop biscuits, so my southern palate did not approve. I noticed a lot of people like the bloody mary's, but I've never had them. I've just seen how many are consumed on a typical morning. All in all, it feels like a very local vibe. It's your basic diner, and I think it excels as just that. They're there when you need them with a hearty breakfast and a hot cup of coffee. (I've only had lunch here once, and it was good. We just prefer this place for breakfast) read more

We're regulars and starting to see cracks in their system. You just don't find this kind of restaurant quality food anymore. Remember; time is the most important ingredient in good food preparation. Especially scratch cooked food. Hold that thought at the Tallyrand. Servers are really busy too. Every employee is body in motion, as it should be no one standing around idle. But, they never check back after you are served. So it'll be a bit longer but much better than Dennys or Applebees, and light years ahead of that awful Lancers. Friendly service but much more friendly if they know you or the owners are present. An off shift employee was drinking in the bar and way to drunk and way over served. He thought it'd be cool to start shooting customers he didn't know in the head with a super soak squirt gun. It angered a few customer and fists almost flew. It got real ugly real quick. We always ask for the famous Mango Margarita but they never have the ingredients on hand to make it. But we keep trying. Bengie the bartender is fantastic and makes you feel welcome if you're new or a long time regular. The other male bartenders are neglecting and speak little English and you'll be ignored. Tips appreciated. We love the place and tip generously in spite of the invisible servers and bartenders. read more

Boyfriend and I took a trip down to So Cal. We planned to grab brunch somewhere in the area be our tour at Warner Brother's Studios. We did a search and came across this place. Our experience was great, staff was super friendly, our waitress was great. She helped us make our choices. I had the Golfers Club & my boyfriend had the Super Melt. Both were delicious. I met some friends for dinner. They like this restaurant & since I've never been to "Tallyrand," they suggested it. I saw Huell Houser's piece on this diner & I thought it would be interesting to try it. I ordered a salad...I think it's called "Karen." It was a small salad that consisted of lettuce, onion, tomato & the strangest chicken I've ever seen. The menu said "chicken strips." It was more like leftover, stale-tasting chicken bits. At first, I thought the chicken was croutons because that's what it looked like. It was way over salted & the rest of the salad was warm & stale. The food arrived very quickly; from the way it tasted, it was probably made a long time ago. Tallyrand may have been a nice place to eat at one time...years ago, but (like many restaurants) it has gone downhill. Not a place I would visit a second time. I'm glad I didn't try anything else. read more

Salty diner food that ended in a rainbow sherbet was just what I needed. Chose Talleyrand's for my celebratory (I got a promotion at work) dinner spot since 1) It's a diner - and I was bnr in the land of diners and 2) Well, the place is one letter short of my first name. I had the angus steak sandwich, which comes served on cheesy garlic bread. Woo! Not to mention, the ambiance was stellar. One older guy was sharing his "behind-the-scenes" security guard stories with what seemed to be his old time buddies. It totally felt like an, "Only in LA" moment. ...although we were in Burbank. read more

Wonderful healthy diner food! I had the Popeye Omelet with fruit and a fresh pumpkin muffin. The portions are good and I took half the food home. My husband had the Southwest Omelet with hash browns and the carrot spice muffin. My husband was noticeably pleased when they asked him if he wanted the hash browns soft or crispy. It also doesn't hurt that Huell Howser reviewed this Burbank institution on California Gold. He was so right. We'll be back again. read more

Boo to the Tallyrand! We were not able to celebrate Thanksgiving this year on the Thursday, and so we decided Friday would be our day and that we'd do it at the Tallyrand. We called and were told we needed no reservation and so we planned to go. We arrived Friday at 2:05pm only to be told that they had closed at 2pm and could not accommodate us. I come here on Friday nights to order for my team because they LOVE the ribs. The staff is always super nice and accommodating to specific orders. Special props to them for always being so speedy. How do you NOT give this incredible institution of a restaurant a 5 star rating is beyond me. In a two day trip, we ate here 3 times! Worth every penny. Our first morning, we had a classic, Cream of wheat with fresh strawberries and toast, and a ham and cheese omelette. Both incredible and flavorful. Back for dinner for a kale salad and the classic Turkey sandwich with stuffing and mashed potatoes with whole cranberry on the side. Highly recommend both! You cannot go wrong eating here. On our next trip down to southern California we will be stopping in for sure! read more

Met some friends here for breakfast. I know...I know...I know - quite a drive for a first meal! Well, was meeting up with my close friends son who I hadn't seen since he was in diapers!! What a great reunion! I had the King Burrito. Pretty good. The service was very good! I was surprised. We all had a great time! If you're in the area - check it out. When you step inside you will be transported to days of yesteryear...I'm visuals as well as smells. The smells from the kitchen combine with the smell of old carpet to remind you of an old street diner! Not necessarily a bad thing...if the memory is a positive - which it is for me! We sat around the table and started with a Carrot Muffin. WAIT...WHAAAAT!? It was ridiculously good! It is served warm! Is is moist and dense and outrageous! I could've simply had 4-5 and a good cup of coffee...which is why I only had one. The coffee is not something I would drink. Kind of a LaVazza snob! The coffee is typical for these kinds of establishments so don't let it discourage you. I asked the waiter for a side of jalapeños and grilled onion bud and both came in with the meal and were cooked as they should have been. You may think this isn't a big deal - but wait till you order this at some other place and the screw it up! Happens more times than not! I had the iced tea - which at first glance I thought would be bitter - it was a little cloudy - but it wasn't. It was straight up iced tea. Probably Tetley. Old school. Everyone in the party enjoyed their food and all plates were emptied! A great sign! If you're in the area and want to travel back in time a bit - stop by here! It seems like a typical old fashioned diner. It feels like the places I use to go to when I was younger... like a Dennys or a Norms Restaurant. I still go to these franchises, but just not as much anymore. While at Tallyrand, I ordered their turkey dinner which comes with a soup or salad, bread, and my mixed dark and white meat meal. My turkey comes with gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing on the bottom, a side of cranberry sauce, broccoli, and a slice of carrot. It was a lot of food, and it filled me up pretty well. The turkey was not dry, the gravy was good, and my mashed potatoes was smooth, which was probably instant. I tried a piece of my friend's fried chicken, and it was also quite good. I wasn't dried like the other places (Rocoes). I really enjoyed my casual meal without having much expectations. The service was fine. Wasn't great, but at least the waiter came around often. The place seemed quite dated. They may need some sort of remodeling soon to keep up the ambiance. There was a semi lower level where the restrooms and bar was located. It seemed a bit weird or secluded to have to walk down a few steps just to go. There were a few people down there drinking and watching the baseball game. Pretty cool it seemed. The patrons all seem to be regulars, and employees seem to have worked there for a long time. So, them seeing us going into their restaurant for dinner might be a bit foreign for them. But, who cares. read more

The week day breakfast specials was great for the price 2x2x2. 2 eggs, 2 bacon and 2 pancakes for $4.25. From previous reviews I was a little hesitant in trying this restaurant but my overall experience was good. The servers were attentive, has a parking lot, place has been here over 50 years, they are doing something right and yes the dining crowd is over 60ish but that did not bother us. Don't miss out on the breakfast here it was good with generous portion for the price. read more

Thanksgiving2022. Ran out of Pumpkin Pie and dark meat turkey by early evening. Six members of my party spent the next day being very ill in the bathroom. Took close to a half hour to take a drink order and busboy talked back and gave a dismissive wave when he was asked if we could get water while we waited. Complete failure. Huell Hauser is rolling in his grave. Waitress was nice the two times we saw the over the course of an hour. read more

I prefer to eat at Diners instead of Denny's or IHOP chains, so on Friday night with all my errands to run before I left for Vegas I needed some food because as always my fridge was empty.. Nothing too special about this place.. nice staff, decent food, little pricey, they have a cocktail area separated from the restaurant.. I have to return to try their breakfast. read more

We were warmly greeted by Erick--the host, standing by the podium and right away he got us a seat inside. After like 5 minutes, Elsa, our server approached us to take our order. My friend and I both felt like we were being rushed through our meal. Food came out hot and quick. We opted for a few of their dishes. Tacos Mananeros, came with 4 tacos ($18.95), with 4 complimentary sauces. 2 of the sauces were very spicy and Elsa didn't warn us. We also got the Veggie Omelette with tomatoes, onions, spinach, mushrooms, Jack cheese, topped with avocado and a side order of hash browns. They made the hash browns perfectly. Told her nice and crispy on the top and that's what we got. (18.95). We also shared their French Toast topped with Strawberry, Blueberries, and Blackberries. ($16.95) topped with lots of Whipped Cream (which I love) and a side of syrup. We needed to add more syrup to make the French Toast more moist. The French Toast was a bit dry for our liking. Even the people sitting next to us who ordered the same thing were saying the same. On the flip side, the other 2 dishes tasted fresh and delicious. Great portions for the prices. We also got this drink called Powerful from their smoothies section of the menu. It was called Green Smoothie. Ingredients were the following: blueberries, honey, Greek Vanilla yogurt, avocado and Almond milk. It was simply very refreshing and delicious. My friend wanted some sort of Latte, Espresso, Americano, etc..but they didn't have any of those drinks. All they had was regular & decaf coffee. At first, I asked for Cranberry juice, and Jose, said they only had Apple and Orange juice. We found it a bit odd not to have any of those drinks. Going back to our server Elsa, she was a bit aloof and forgetful. I asked for a bowl of fruit, and it never made it to our table. After we were done eating, I asked for two to-go boxes and a bag, she forgot that too. We had to ask the other employees to get them for us. The same with to-go containers for our sauces. She forgot to bring napkins too. Jose, (our busboy), needs a raise and promotion! This young man read all the ingredients on the Taco menu which came with: bacon & egg, chorizo with potato & eggs, machaka/eggs, & nopaitos/eggs. The writing in their menu was very small. Another server by the name of Angel, truly was an angel. Checked on us while Elsa was taking orders over the phone. They have another location in Monrovia, a gender neutral restroom, place was very clean. Inside was small. It had 10 tables and nice couches with cozy, inspirational decor and pillows. I came here for lunch with my father and nephew. We arrived at about 11:00 a.m. I thought we might miss the lunch crowd but the place was pretty much packed. We ended up sitting at a small table in the bar area. A friendly waiter dropped off some menus and took our drink orders. When he returned with our drinks we were ready to order. I picked the Giant Reuben which consists of Corned beef, Swiss Cheese, and Sauerkraut Grilled on Sourdough. My father and nephew both ordered the Hot Turkey Sandwich which includes Roasted Turkey with Herb Dressing, homemade Mashed Potatoes and Gravy. My dad went with the All White Meat for an extra 50 cents. My Reuben was very good, The Turkey Sandwich was so big that my dad could barely finish it, my nephew said it was the best Turkey Sandwich he had ever eaten, if Huell Howser gives it a thumbs up it has to be good! Was really looking forward to checking this place out since any diner is better than Denny's! We were ending a long road trip, trying to figure out what was still open in the Burbank area. We looked up Tallyrand on our phones and saw that they closed at 10p. Awesome! We had time! We finally exited the freeway, rushed there, and parked at 940p. After spilling out of the car, we looked forward to nice hearty meal. This is where it took a turn... As we were walking to the front door, we noticed the employees staring at us. We pulled on the door, but it was locked! The employees seemed to have vanished except one lady that was just shaking her head at us. "We still have twenty minutes..." we pleaded. I used to be a customer as it's one of the last places left in burbank where american fare and culture is on display - in other words, you mostly see older, ugly, overweight white people eating junk food. there were other factors to patronize this business, the location, prices are not great, but not bad, and its history. but, let me tell you, all that goes out the window when you have to deal with one of the old, decrepit waitresses who think they are doing you a favor. but the doozy for me was when I saw a homeless man right outside their door hungry, and in need of food, and the management told me they wouldn't feed him. never again, have I set foot in that restaurant. this is the reason why Porto's bakery has trillions of customers, daily - and growing, and this junk food place will soon be a relic of the past. they have no soul and are a bunch of backward thinking buffoons. Pancakes are possibly the best in Los Angeles, the only reason why I gave this place two stars , is because there is this one host, he is a Latino man, the only Latino host who wears a tie, He's in his 40's he is a scumbag and has the worst customer service skills. He is extremely rude and acts like the place is his own, I will make sure to get his name next time to expose this creep. Aside from that it's a great environment and everyone else is fantastic . The best food in town! Small town feel and great customer service! Great for small children, too. Always accommodating and the food is consistently delicious. When they get busy, it sometimes takes a few minutes for the server to come. Keep in mind - this is NOT fast food. This is cooked-to-order, fresh food and that sometimes takes a little longer. They are always polite when they are swamped, and all the servers chip in to help. I remember the first time I've been here, the old school atmosphere plus the great food. Very friendly staff and comfy booths too. Egg benedict special on Sundays is excellent. I've tried their "lean" corned beef sandwich on rye--it wasn't anything spectacular but hit the spot. I'm so glad I tried Tallyrand with friends! I loved the environment which felt very cozy and relaxed. I tried a few items off the menu and they were all incredible! This is such a great place! The hot turkey sandwich, BBQ chicken salad, and onion rings were delicious! read more

Last time I went I saw multiple big rats place is falling apart it's super old and outdated renovations are a must. Food is terrible workers are rude!! Don't eat here only the rats do!!!! read more

Ice cream with devils food cake and whipped cream. Really good but I would have liked a brownie in place of the devils food. I have no idea how it took me so long to come here. Absolutely phenomenal. Great food and classic Hollywood vibes. The interior is so cool and lit exactly how you want it to be. Follow the sculpture of the giant hamburger boy! An all around great experience!

As luck would have it, we arrived on Taco Tuesday, when tacos are just $2 each. We sampled several, and every one was excellent, especially the fish taco. I'm also a longtime fan of sanddabs, a dish that's become surprisingly hard to find. My gold standard has always been the version at Musso & Frank Grill, and I'm happy to say The Ramp's was every bit as satisfying. Note: The restrooms are being renovated so if you need to use the restroom there is a porta potty in the parking lot. There is no hand washing station outside, so hopefully there is one inside. The restaurant also has a stale kind of a night club smell to it as well. I think I was generous with the third star and I won't rush to go back.
